Came here with my daughter this week. We have been here before but honestly I could not remember their pedicure pricing and didn't recall it being that expensive. There are no prices posted here so ask for the price before you get any work done, the pedicure with hot stone massage was $30!! The lady who did my pedicure "Rona" was very pleasant, patient and knew what she was doing and did a good job on my toes. So I took a chance on this place based on the reviews and because its a convenient location for me. It was easy to get in for a shellac mani and pedi on a weekend evening. First impression: other than being a little run down the ladies seemed nice enough and I was willing to overlook the heat. Their color selection was minimal but I found a pretty turquoise for my toes. The pedicure was well worth 18 bucks so I would return for that service. I have had better, iit wasn't super relaxing. The shellac manicure was so horrible it was almost funny. Kathy (the owner?) did one hand and the person who did my manicure did the other. I tried to tell Kathy that she was burning my hand in the UV nail dryer but she just kept laughing even though it really did hurt! She wasn't paying attention to the timer at all and was doing someone else's nails at the same time. The other woman did the timer correctly and it was not painful on the other hand. The color selection for shellac again was depressing and it was poorly done. The edges of the shellac were rough, stuck to my fingers, and the color was uneven. i'll let you be the judge. (the picture was taking a few days after I got the manicure and its supposed to last and look perfect for a few weeks at least!) DO NOT GET SHELLAC here! They just don't know how to do it. Also, I tried to go back today (1 week later) to see if they would take it off for me and just give me a regular manicure. I told them I didn't like how they looked but they tried to blame it on my nails growing out. Kathy mumbled something and they didn't seem to care that I was unhappy and didn't offer me anything. My nails were tended to very nicely. I had specific instructions for them in term of the flower design I wanted and they took care in drawing them. It was $10 for regular manicure and $5 for the flower design. It was not crowded on the day I went- Saturday at 3pm. Actually, no one was there. She is also skilled medically in that she has fixed ingrown toenails multiple times and is very sensitive and gentle for older women. The ladies that work here are very nice . That being said The quality of the gel manicure just disappoints . Had it done Saturday and Saturday afternoon noticed all the streaks and bubbles in the polish . (See photos ) Today is Wednesday and I have chips and peeling . Generally gel manicures last me two weeks minimum and they don't chip they usually just grow out . I have a wedding to go to and sad that I now have to pay to get them done again in the same week . I get my nails done pretty frequently... So I have pretty high standard expectations on what I want and how I want it. Price is important especially because I find myself getting a mani & pedi every 10 days or so and finding a good place that does it for under $30 is amazing! I love Kayla's nails for more than just the good price. The staff are so friendly and conversational. They were extremely accommodating and did an amazing job on my friend and I. I'm really disappointed with my visit to Kayla Nails. I was excited to see that this location is right down the street from my office, and had great reviews. I went by there after work yesterday to get my nails done for my birthday party this weekend, and I had a pretty awful experience. I arrived at about 5:15 pm without an appointment for a pedicure and gel manicure. There were 3 nail techs working, and there was only one customer in the entire place. After waiting about 10 minutes, I was told to sit in the pedicure chair and wait for the tech. I even heard one of the techs comment "ugh, I just want to go home!" when I sat down, which is ridiculous considering they were open for another 2 hours. It's not like I walked in at 645, but I digress... I sat in the pedicure chair for 20+ minutes until one of the techs finally gave me a time frame (5 mins). The worst part was the water was cold, so I sat with my feet in cold water for almost 30 mins. By this point, I would have left, but it was already almost 6pm and I wouldn't make it to my normal salon in Willow Glen in time because of traffic. So I had no choice but to wait. Finally, a lady began my pedicure. Incidentally, it was the same lady who made the comment about wanting to go home. She was nice enough, I guess. I told her I wanted hot pink nails, and showed her the color of gel I had chosen. I asked her to help me find a polish for my toes that matched. She rushed through my pedicure, and one of my toes is sore today because of it. I honestly could have done a better filing and paint job myself, as everything is uneven. At least I like the polish. Finally, we began my manicure. I asked her if she needed me to show her which color I wanted again (because by that point, it had been at least 20 minutes since she had looked at the swatch), and she said "no I know which one it is". As she was painting my nails, I tried to check the color a few times, but every time I did, she would snap at me about putting my hands under the drying light. Once again, she rushed through the manicure. I asked her probably 2 or 3 times to fix nails that were uneven and jagged. When we were finished and she finally let me look at my nails, they were straight up RED. Nowhere CLOSE to the color I picked out, and nowhere close to matching the color on my toes! I was so unhappy, but since I had been there for almost TWO HOURS, they were closing. I told her that I would be coming back for a color change the next day, and she laughed awkwardly and then looked annoyed. So I guess I WON'T be going back. I have never in my life been at a nail salon for 2 hours, nor waited 45 mins, nor had the nail tech refuse to work with me on the color I wanted. And these were my birthday nails! Back to my regular salon in Willow Glen today to get it fixed (and spend more time and money that I shouldn't have to spend!) Needless to say, I don't recommend this place and I will never be going back. It's so disappointing, considering their great reviews and the convenient location. I gave 2 stars based on reasonable pricing and hot stone massage that comes with the pedicure, but those are about their only strengths. read more

My boyfriend and I were getting our car serviced at Pep Boys and so to make the time pass a little faster we walked around the area. Needing a manicure I decided to Yelp nail salons around. I'm sooooo happy Kayla's popped up! When we got there we were instantly acknowledged and asked what we wanted to do. I got a gel set and my boyfriend got a mani/pedi. The ladies were very sweet. I didn't catch my nail techs name but she was very easy to talk to and once I got into the movie they were playing she held off the conversation. Which was a nice touch because sometimes the nail techs would just talk and talk and talk no matter what. I really appreciated that. She did a great job on my gel set! She was very soft with my hands and never pulled or grabbed my hands (like other salons I've been to). My boyfriends tech did a great job too. He seemed pretty happy with his service. I live super close to Kayla Nails, so thought I would swing in and check them out. The decor is a little run down, but honestly, it gives the place character. Manicures are only $10 and Kim did SUCH an amazing job on my nails - she seriously spent 20+ min just on my cuticles. She was so adorable to talk to and I had a smile on my face the entire time. If you really want to spice up the entertainment, swing by the liquor store that's 3 doors down and get a mini bottle of vodka before you head in. Might help you relax and not be so stressed out about being in an environment where there's a huge language barrier* ;) Make it fun instead of stressful! It's been a couple weeks since I had my manicure done and my nails still look flawless - very impressed!! This is my new favorite salon! *While I was getting my nails done, there was another woman in there that seemed super annoyed due to their accents/language barrier. Get over it, lady!! Embrace diversity and just go with the flow! :) Plus, it's a TEN DOLLAR MANICURE for christ's sakes. Came here yesterday for a mani and pedi with my friend. We both were getting our pedicures done and they were so bad we didn't even let them do our nails. The owner was very nice and her son was adorable but the pedi was so bad and my friends lady didn't even seem to have a cosmetology license. She had uneven paint and paint all over her skin. Came here on a Saturday with my friend to get a basic manicure. Hole in the wall type place, which are hit and miss sometimes. But this place was def a great spot to return to. New to living in Santa Clara area, and don't get my nails done too often, I went to Yelp to find a good nail place to try out near by and Kayla Nails had the best reviews and was close to where I live. We made an appointment and showed up a bit late, which was fine. We were the only people in there, and the ladies had us pick out a color and then sit down. One of the best manicures I've had in a long time. $45 for a gel mani and regular pedi. Pros: good locale, lots of parking, quick. Cons: needs to update nail polish selection, pedi massage was quick. The decor is unusual in that I feel like I stepped into 1987. To top this off, disco music videos were playing on the tv-fitting with the neon lights inside. It's not terribly bad, this is my 4th time coming here and while it isn't my regular spot, it is my back up nail salon and they have also been kind. My polish comes out nice as well as the shaping of my nails.
