I wanted to give a proper review. Don't believe some of the low rated reviews. If you look at their…read moreprofiles, they give every place a bad review. To clear things up about their dining area, they have 2 small tables outside and 1 small and 2 big tables inside. Small tables - 2 chairs. Big tables - 4 chairs. On weekdays, you don't need to make a reservation. On the weekends due to their limited dine in area, I would recommend a reservation to be safe. You can make a reservation through Google/Yelp or phone call. Parking is easy since it's in a strip mall. There is also a 3% charge if you use plastic. Just a note, I tried looking at their food pictures on their website, but it kind of runs slow. Sometimes it would freeze. I think they need to fix it. I would return here to try other items. I would highly recommend ordering off their Malaysian menu instead of the miscellaneous. Don't order orange chicken or General Tao's chicken. Very cringe because you can get that literally anywhere. Get the Malaysian food because it's hard to find in Illinois. The owner is very sweet and the service is attentive. We ordered lor bak, nasi lemak, Hainanese chicken rice, hokkien mee, and kuih talam. Just a FYI, the portions are very generous. For 2 people, I would recommend ordering 2 dishes. Prices are reasonable for what you get. A pot of tea is $6. -lor bak 5 - I highly recommend this appetizer. It has crispy pork sausage with shrimp fritters, beancurd, and cucumber. It comes with two sauces. Everything was delicious. -nasi lemak 5 - I love the chicken rendang. The meat is very tender and it has a deep flavor. You can taste the spices that went into it. -Hainanese chicken rice 3.5 - I gave Penang Malaysian Cuisine a 4 because the rice was delicious. HD's version, the rice was not as moist and flavorful. The chicken was not bad, it's about the same as Penang's. It could be a bit more succulent without the sauces. -hokkien mee 4 - this won't be as tasty as in Malaysia. I liked the big pieces of shrimp, an adequate amount of sliced pork and hard boiled egg. The broth is still very good. If it's your first time having this, I still recommend it. -kuih talam 5 - I would suggest this if you like pandan. It's not sweet. It has a soft and bouncy texture.

The dining room is really pretty, and well-appointed! We were seated right away by friendly staff. Looking around, this appeared to be a very family-friendly establishment, as that was, by far, the most prominent type of connoisseur in the house on this evening! Our waitress was wonderful, and helped us with some recommendations upon us letting her know it was our first visit! She checked in with us frequently, and made sure drinks were always refilled promptly! We had a bunch of different items, and all were very good! We tried sushi rolls, beef noodles, and ramen. I'd have to say that the beef noodles probably were the best item for me! Prices were just about as you'd expect: not too high, but not super cheap either...but wholly justified by the great food and lovely service and experience! Their food has no flavor except for this little joint in Arlington Heights. I started with the papaya salad, which was good. Can't go wrong with that. Then I ordered my masaman curry with lamb. It was something I never had but for sure I will be having AGAIN. Also, had the pad Kee Mow (drunken noodles) these are typical Thai dishes that you should not f-up but several places here DO! This place was on point! Drunken noodle was delicious too. Although, the service was just ok but I guessed it worked out bc it kept us in the restaurant longer. Every entree comes with a side choice--the Tom Yum soup and chicken potstickers were both solid options. As for the mains, it was a bit of a mixed bag: Massaman Curry (Chicken): Rich, full of flavor, and absolutely essential to pair with rice. Papaya Salad: Outstanding--super refreshing with a great crunch. Pad Thai & Pad See Ew: Disappointing protein quality. The chicken in the Pad Thai was dry, and the beef in the Pad See Ew was sliced paper-thin and equally dry. Basil Duck: Surprisingly bland and lacked flavor. Overall, some highlights, but the meats and flavor consistency could definitely use some improvement.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the host staff, and seated at a booth per our request. As we were being shown to our booth, I requested one a little farther back, which they kindly accommodated. Our server was attentive and very helpful! I mentioned that I was vegan and he suggested that I do the build-your-own stirfry bar. I asked which sauces are vegan and he looked on his information card that he was carrying and let me know. Shanghai ginger garlic, Spicy green curry, Orange, Sichuan, and Kung Pao are all vegan options! I ordered hot jasmine tea, which came with a Rishi loose-leaf glass teapot and 2 little packs of honey. For my entrée, I did choose the build-your-own bowl with jasmine rice, tofu, veggies, and the garlic ginger sauce. It was delicious! One pro-tip is that when you're up at the stirfry bar, add the flatter ingredients first (like spinach and bok choy) so that you can fit more ingredients into your bowl. I topped mine off with broccoli! The atmosphere here is decent; I don't love it or hate it. It was definitely clean though and the stirfry bar was well-maintained. My friend and I had a great time at Big Bowl and we will definitely return!

I really do treat this as a takeout only place. As usual, my food was ready on time if not early. The roll servings portion is very nice and generous. I got a hand roll for the first time as well, which was generous and delicious. For the prices of the sushi rolls here versus what's also in the nearby vicinity this is definitely worth it. I do enjoy coming here for the sushi for sure. Will definitely keep on ordering from here.

I especially loved the kimchi chicken rice, although it was more of a flavorful fried rice with a nice spicy kick. The Bears sushi was also a winner, that thick avocado layer and juicy tempura shrimp were incredible. I also tried the Bento Box D - chicken teriyaki, rice, veggies, California rolls, salad, and tofu soup. The teriyaki was bursting with flavor! Everything was delicious and the portions were huge. The place itself is tiny - only two tables - but the staff were super friendly and attentive. They were really lovely to chat with! One small thing: the guy working there could probably use an apron, as his shirt and pants looked a little food-splattered. And a bit of a clean-up would do wonders - the curtains leading to the kitchen were dusty, and the TVs could use a wipe-down too. Overall, despite the minor cleanliness issues, I would definitely recommend Osaku! The food is incredible, the portions are generous, and the service is great. Give it a try!
