My sister and I wanted hibachi and decided on this spot. The decor wasn't much of anything, pretty simple. We were seated at a table with a couple on the other end. We looked over the menu and placed our order. Started with veggie spring rolls which were pretty good. Then our soup and salad came next. We felt rushed to finish our soup and salad because the waitress was hovering nearby ready to take our bowls. For our hibachi meal we both ordered the vegetarian with fried rice. Typically when we go to hibachi we get an impressive show but the performance here was lackluster. The chef did a few tricks but it wasn't that impressive. Our vegetarian hibachi was not seasoned well and we found ourselves having to season our food once it was put on our plate. I told the chef it was my birthday and there was nothing special done other than a happy birthday while there was a white family a couple tables down who were celebrating a birthday and were able to bang the cymbal. They do have a good house brand wine and they give nice pours. Overall it was an okay experience, but I won't be back. read more

I'm writing this review while sitting in my car after waiting 20 minutes at our table without service. There were quite a few people at the hibachi tables but the restaurant in general was pretty empty. We waited ten minutes before I decided to flag down who I believe was the manager. He said something to a waiter and I assumed that we would be served shortly. After waiting another 5 minutes, the server came back out and quickly walked away before we could place our order. I was grateful for the water he brought but I wanted to eat. I had set a timer and another 10 minutes went by before we decided to leave. I'm really confused by the lack of service. Oof. We weren't allowed to be seated until our full party arrived. But once our full party arrived it took an additional 10-15 minutes to be seated ("we're cleaning the table") even though we had a reservation. Were told we could get drinks at the bar but it took 10 minutes to figure out that there was no bartender. Once seated, we did not get our initial waters for 26 minutes, and did not get our orders taken for another 17 minutes after that. The standard hibachi experience started over 20 minutes after that--over an hour and a half after our reservation time. The chef was fine but the experience was very rushed--likely because he recognized we had been waiting for so long. The food tasted fine; hibachi is pretty much hibachi everywhere you go. Any of these things individually I would shrug off, move on, and enjoy my food. But all of them put together made for a less than ideal experience. So that makes this recommendation a very easy "no", since you can get a decent hibachi experience elsewhere with very little effort. read more

Came here for a birthday party and it was a cluster. They won't seat you until the entire party is there which is fine but they put you in a waiting room with 20 other people and 1 bartender who moves SLOW. Everyone waiting was frustrated- we finally get seated- it takes 30-40 minutes to get drink and food service. Food was delicious but 0 effort into a show or doing anything special or making it fun. They want you in and out but they are so understaffed they can hardly give you any service. My friend and I eat lunch at KAZE once a year. We used to lunch here weekly, about five years ago, but stopped coming because of some less-than-kind habits they had implemented. Now, we show up once a year to determine if things have improved: They have not. Pros: - The food is mostly good (the miso soup was not: no miso). - The wait staff (this time around) was nice and decently attentive. Cons: - They continue to incorporate an 18% tip amount into the bill total. They then provide a tip field on the receipt and a suggested tip amount. It isn't obvious this is being done unless you read the itemization of your bill. - They clean the floors during lunch (while you are eating). It is a very strong bleach smell that permeates most of the restaurant. This does not improve the flavor of the sushi/hibachi. They did this the last two years we've been. It's really awful. - The music was loud. It wasn't so loud that I couldn't hear my friend, but loud enough that we had to speak over it. When I asked if they would turn the music down a bit, they did... for five minutes, and then it was cranked up louder than it was originally. If you are looking for hibachi rip off this is your place. I ordered seafood combo scallop and shrimp. Most hibachi places give you a soup and salad to start. This place you can only choose 1. I asked for double veggies since I didn't want rice. The portion I got was a normal size at any other hibachi restaurant and was not double to me the portion size for the others at the table was so small it was not worth the price they paid for their meal along with the rest of their food. My shrimp was fine but the scallops were thin. Why you ask? Because instead of you getting a full scallop they slice them in half before they get to the table. I got sashimi and an unsweetened tea my bill was $74. Now I love hibachi so I was so very unimpressed and felt scammed from this establishment for the food that was served. I adore this location. The serving sizes are great, the decor is perfection, has habachi and a karaoke room! Service is super spotty. Sometimes the lady comes every 2 minutes, other times I just see her for my bill (someone else brought the food). I love their sushi. It's delicious and well crafted. The menu is expansive and overwhelming. When reading the ingredient list of a sushi roll item- I find a lot of it to be repeated with maybe one add on. So just keep looking...You'll find what you want eventually!! Can't rave enough about their deep fried rolls, my favorites are there Robo Roll ($9.95) and On the Border Roll ($8.95). The On The Border Roll is made with Crab, avocado, cream cheese, Picked jalapeno, topped with sweet sauce. The Robo Roll comes with Spicy Tuna jalapeno, cream cheese, topped with sweet sauce, and jalapeno sauce and is ACTUALLY spicy! It's so filling and warm because it was deep fried, so tastes a little cooked. I've also tried their Greenville Roll ($17) Eel, crab cucumber topped with tuna, fresh salmon, masago, eel sauce, creamy wasabi sauce, and spicy mayo. They had it as a special on their board for $16, but I was still charged $17. It took so long to figure out how to get it fixed that it definitely wasn't worth talking with management. But was fresh, and the portion size was huge. I didn't like their Yummy Yummy Roll. Also have a revolving sushi belt that will bring out plates to you to choose from. Their Lunch Special on the revolving sushi is M-F 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 5 plates for $8.95! Don't forget to try their Fried Green Tea Ice Cream ($7)! It's so good and actually tastes like green tea. We had a couple people order shots and rather than bringing them out for those select few our waiter brought them out for EVERYONE, a party of 40. We were surprised and assumed they were free as we have all received free shots before. We got the bill back and we were charged for 51 SHOTS. Who orders 51 shots?? We looked at the bill more closely and we were charged $16 for every shot yet the shots were only listed at $8. So not only did he bring out shots we didn't order but he charged DOUBLE for the shots we didn't order. OUTRAGEOUS! The girl who put her card down talked with them to get the price of the shots down but we still had to pay around $600 for shots we didn't order. As for the food they serve, it is very BLAND. Not much flavor. Some of the rice was still cold and cooked unevenly. My microwave I bought from target can cook rice more evenly than them (my microwave sucks btw). I would have been better off buying Benihana rice at Kroger and giving my target microwave a crack at it than getting the fried rice here. Honestly I should have just made all this food for my friends at home. Would have tasted much better. As for the place itself I am SHOCKED that they pass a health inspection. There is absolutely no way. Some one should go down there and start taking swabs because it shouldn't be legal for restaurants to be that poorly maintained. Instead of going to eat at the hibachi Bc we didn't want to smell leaving the place, we got a table. We ordered a sake flight, a vegetable hibachi and a scallop hibachi dinner. 20 minutes in we got 2 plates- the vegetable hibachi literally had one cup of vegetables in there with plain rice for $16.95, the scallop hibachi had some small scallops and an even less amount of vegetables costing $26.95. First of all, what place doesn't include fried rice with their hibachi dinner? The rice didn't even come when the plate came out, we asked the waitress, and 20 mins come by.. nothing. We had to ask an older Asian lady to help us and she went back and got us plain white rice.. like that took 20 mins -and it didn't even come out with the plate? The sake flight.. literally just got it a few mins ago after being here for over an hour when it was the very first thing we ordered. How hard is it to put a different types of sake in a cup? You know I'm usually a pretty understanding customers and nice but everything was severely disappointing and after complaining.. they didnt make it right or do anything about it. I went to kaze for my daughters first birthday. the ONLY person who took care of me and my family was the hostess. one of their servers came to our table to get our drink order but was so heavily intoxicated that he completely forgot. he came back twice to confirm he was putting in the right drink order and when we finally got our drinks they were brought out by a different waiter who also seemed very drunk and had smelled heavily of alcohol when he spoke to us. i started crying because my husband and i had been coming to kaze for over five years and now it's unrecognizable. the sweet hostess came over immediately when she saw me crying and took such good care of my family. she talked to us and reassured us that our daughter will love any restaurant as long as we are the ones taking her :) in conclusion, kaze has turned to shit. read more

What to say about Kaze? They are the Spirit Airlines of Japanese Steakhouses. The restaurant is dirty, the quality of the meats (steak and chicken) is very low, and the seating is very strange which leaves some without the ability to see the cooking, which is why people come to these kind of places. We went last night for the first time for my daughter's 7th birthday. It had been recommended by several friends. Very entertaining hibachi experience and the food was fantastic! They also loved feeding all of the fish. We also had our 3 year old and 9 year old and everyone loved it. My daughter loves to go out to eat and in the middle of dinner exclaimed "this is the best restaurant ever!" hahaha. We have ordered numerous times from Kaze some pick up, some delivery and some eating at the restaurant On 5/4, we placed an order for a 4pm for pick up, I grabbed food after an appointment going home to release my babysitter and we promised her sushi dinner that evening. Got home to see that of course out of the 5 rolls we order, 1 of them was missing and it was the roll that our babysitter ordered. How embarrassing is that to me?!? While my gyoza are now getting cold and my toddler is screaming hunger, I have to call Kaze, they don't believe me and want a picture of our food, more than 15 min on the phone I get promise a refund... A week later we NEVER GOT the refund If they saved our number/order they would see we order frequently (almost every week) and Never mentioned something was missing so I wasn't trying to get something for free. Just trying to get what I paid for. Now I had to give my dinner roll to babysitter and while we typically order dinner to make evening easier it was a very difficult/stressful evening. The following Thursday 5/11 seeing our refund was still not process we call back, it was the same manager. Chris. All he could do was to give us in credit the same 7$ reduction from the roll that was missing.... Nothing else for ruining my dinner of 5/4 and us having to call back again since refund was never done.
