    Matcha made at the table
    Alice L.

The manager greeted us in full kimono at the door & we were seated at the bar since we chose the tempura omakase option ($98/person, seasonal items). The chef presented the omakase items before disappearing behind a splatter screen to cook up tempura magic. They bring out different salts along with tempura sauce that'll enhance the flavors based on chef's recommendation. Everything was delicious & not overly battered/greasy/heavy. The best was the shrimp head, so flavorful that my eyes rolled into the back of my head for a bit. Also ordered the eel pressed sushi & black cod robata. The sushi rice is made with red vinegar instead of white, making it almost look like brown rice. The cod was super tender with crispy skin. Dinner ended with matcha made at the table & we swapped out the seasonal dessert for matcha tiramisu & signature hojicha pudding that I could've eaten a whole tub of. Gracious & attentive service; will be back; oshii!

This place was such a beautiful dining experience from start to finish. The restaurant itself has a calm, elegant Japanese aesthetic with warm lighting and minimalist decor that immediately sets the tone for a relaxing meal. We started with cocktails -- a refreshing citrus margarita with a salted rim and a light pink martini-style drink that was crisp and well balanced. Both were beautifully presented and a perfect way to begin the evening. For appetizers, the eggplant and lotus root tempura was excellent -- light, crispy, and not greasy at all. The seasonal vegetables had a delicate batter and paired nicely with the dipping sauce and grated daikon. The yellow tale sashimi was very fresh and clean tasting, served simply with shiso and freshly grated wasabi, which really let the quality of the fish shine. Next came a couple of hot dishes that were highlights of the night. The black cod fish had beautifully caramelized skin while staying tender and juicy inside, accompanied by pickled ginger for a bright contrast. The Japanese A5 wagu was another standout -- perfectly seared, juicy, and served on a rustic bed of straw with citrus and wasabi for a balanced bite. We also ordered a fried pork belly that had a wonderfully crunchy golden crust and pair with green onion inside and was incredibly satisfying. To finish, we had matcha tea pudding and sake yuzu sorbet , which was the perfect ending. The matcha was rich and slightly bitter in the best way, complementing the creamy dessert and matcha sweets on the side. The service was great. The waitress was attentive and a knowledgeable when serving our foods. Overall, the presentation of every dish was beautiful and thoughtful. The ingredients tasted fresh, the flavors were balanced, and the entire meal felt very authentic and carefully crafted. Definitely a great spot for a date night or a relaxed dinner if you're looking for high-quality Japanese cuisine with elegant presentation.

We had an absolutely amazing time dining here today! It was a birthday dinner for my sister and we wanted to treat her to something new, we drove 5 hours just to dine here and can say it was absolutely worth it! The ambiance is just like the ryokan we stayed in Kyoto, it's very tranquil and very pretty inside. They were incredibly accommodating with my dietary restrictions and every bite of the omakase was delicious, we will have to come back (hopefully soon!) in order to do the tempura omakase, the tempura is truly its own star. Thank you so much for your kindeness and hospitality, this is something we wish we had closer to home as it would be a monthly treat for us, thank you again!!!!

We stopped in for a birthday dinner on a Tuesday evening around 5:30, and it was the perfect time to go -- nice and quiet with a mellow ambiance that made the experience feel even more intimate & special for us. What I really loved was their one-of-a-kind omakase experience. It's not your typical omakase where it's just piece after piece of sushi. They beautifully incorporated fresh seafood into a variety of different dishes while still highlighting the traditional sushi/omakase experience. Each piece of the Edo-style nigiri piece was crafted so thoughtfully and really showcased the quality of the fish. The robata grille A5 wagyu was another standout -- perfectly prepared and such a luxurious addition to the experience- it was so good, I forgot to take a pic :(( OH and let me not forget about the truffle salt... TO DIE FOR!! One of my favorite touches was the table-side matcha. Watching it prepared right in front of us truly elevated the experience and gave it that authentic, traditional Japanese feel. Everything was amazing -- From the attentive service, the flavors, the presentation, and to the ambiance. Definitely a memorable birthday dinner and a spot I'll def return to!

I LOVED their Takumi Omakase Kaiseki. It's reservation-only and absolutely worth it. They just opened in the past few months, and from the moment you walk in, you're warmly greeted. It immediately sets the tone for the experience. Each course was unique, thoughtfully prepared, and perfectly timed, which made the meal feel very intentional and special. The mushroom teapot dish was such a fun and memorable surprise, and the tempura was one of my favorites: light, crisp, and delicious. The entire experience felt incredibly authentic. Honestly, this is about as close to a true Japanese dining experience as you'll find in the DFW area. So much fun from start to finish, and I'd absolutely do this again

Dallas's first Kaiseki restaurant (that I'm aware of) did not disappoint! I made the mistake of making a reservation without requesting to partake in set menu, which is required, but the staff was gracious enough to accommodate, and came through for us! There were many stand out dishes, some even reminded me of my visits to Japan, big sushi fan and the fish was very fresh. My only complaint would be that a few courses took a bit too long (for fast eaters we were there for a little over 2.5 hours), which they apologized for. Overall we had a good experience and not to mention the value- 10 courses for $110, can't beat it!

My friend took me to Takumi Hachi for my birthday, and surprised me with an omakase dinner! It was such an elevated experience, and every single dish felt like a piece of art. What made this omakase really unique was that it wasn't just sushi or sashimi focused. I got to try so many creative and different dishes throughout the meal. My favorite was actually the broth served in a teapot. It was warm and flavorful and the fish was so good. Everything was from start to finish. At the end, the waitress even hand-whisked matcha for us, which was such a thoughtful touch to close out the meal. Fun fact! The chefs are flown in from Japan! PS we had an RVSP for omakase

My friend and I went to Takumi Hachi for their Kaiseki meal and we thought it was pretty good. It was a nice touch to add some gold flakes to our starting sake cup; made it way more special looking. First off, you do leave full because they do give you a decent amount of food. Our favorite item of the meal was the Grilled Mackerel with Miso. This was so good. It should have come with a small bowl of rice then it would have been even better. My friend liked the Clear Soup but I felt like it was kind of bland... but to each their own. For the Chawanmushi with Crab Meat, the crab meat should have been warmed up a little bit more. The egg custard was at a good temperature but the coldness of the crab sort of ruined the uniformity of the dish. The tempura was tasty. However maybe replace the empty lobster tail shell with another piece of tempura? Doesn't have to be expensive... just something other than the inedible shell. The most filling part of the meal has to be the Unagi Clay Pot Rice. The amount of rice they give you equals to about 2 bowls. The first bowl is eaten as is while the second bowl is eaten with the dashi broth. While the Kaiseki part of the night was good. I thought the nigiri we ordered needs improvement. The sushi rice broke apart when I picked up each piece like it was too dry. The fish was average, nothing spectacular. The service was good when they had a chance to served us. We felt like with a packed restaurant, they needed at least 1-2 more wait staff. They definitely need more sushi chefs since our 6 pieces of nigiri took a little bit long to come out. The overall ambiance is nice. There was just ONE thing that bothered me... as soon as I sat down at the kaiseki bar on the side that's near the entrance to the back area. This might be a one off or temporary thing but there's a weird smell, like sewage, from where I was sitting... my friend smelled it too. Maybe it was a problem with the plumbing when I went but it was noticeable.

If you're looking for quality, close as you can get to authentic Japanese food, look no further. My girlfriends and I went to experience the Tempura omakase course. It's a splurge but so worth it. 10 tempura plus two side dishes and one rice dish plus dessert. All very delicious. You have to go hungry to try and finish the whole meal. I also had a yuzu margarita which was nice and strong. The chef cooks each tempura in front of you so it's nice and hot. It's not the cheapest place but it's definitely a quality place.

Located in the back of a shopping plaza, but there's ample parking spaces. Food is excellent and has a lot of variety to choose from. Everything was delicious and sushi was fresh. Will be back!

Everything about this place from the decor to the food to the service was perfect! We ordered a lot and everything tasted amazing, the quality of ingredients truly shone. The service was fantastic as our waitress was very attentive and she helped us pick what pieces we should order. I was a little bummed because I really wanted to try their tempura omakase and I didn't realize it's only available Sun-Thurs (we went on Friday). I ended up getting their other tempura and it was amazing so I will definitely be back to try the omakase! The nigiri pieces and even the rainbow roll were stunning and so fresh. Absolutely loved it!

What a great restaurant! Beautiful new modern decor, very special tempura counter, friendly and professional service, and of course everything I had for dinner was super fresh and delicious! Even deserts are made from scratch by one of the chefs! Great sake selection, too. You should try this place before it gets too crowded. This place will become very popular very soon!

Finally, an authentic Japanese restaurant in Dallas! Even though it just opened, everything was flawless--atmosphere, service, and food. The tempura was light and crispy, the Wagyu steak was phenomenal, and the sushi was perfection. The sake and wine list was on another level for this area, and the original cocktails were creative, balanced, and absolutely delicious--these are definitely a must-try. We also loved the kids' menu; our child enjoyed both steak and sushi, which made the experience even more special. A true gem, and we can't wait to come back!

When we walked in, the hostess had a poor attitude and was off putting. Unfriendly and borderline rude. We made sure to get there as soon as they opened because we knew it would be dead, and we'd have better luck at quicker service. Unfortunately, they sat us outside because we had our ESA animal in an enclosed carrier after grilling us about what services he performs, and I believe we were forgotten about since we were the only ones on the porch. It was a very warm day with high humidity. I asked the hostess if she could make sure the fans were on since it was so hot, and she asked, "So, you want me to turn them off?" We only ordered two apps of Roti Canai, one order of the twice friend wings, and an order or the donuts (all were ordered at once to help speed things along since it was so hot outside.) It took quite a while, and the wings came out soggy and cold, which is not the norm. A thunderstorm was coming in, and we had been waiting on our donuts for at least 20 minutes at this point. My husband informed the hostess that we would have to either cancel the order or move inside since it was about to start raining. She flippantly said that she would have to ask the manager first if we were allowed inside. We were so turned off that it really ruined the experience, and it was not the way we wanted to celebrate Mother's Day. The donuts finally came out (also cold), and I had my husband just give her the credit card without the check so we could hurry up and get off the porch before it started coming down. We rushed through the dessert and left. Not loving our experience and not sure if we'll be back until the attitude and service changes. We're bummed because we were always a fan of this place until now.

Ill live write out my review as i receive and eat things: 1. Ahi tower is one of the best things ive ever eaten. it brings SO MUCH fish and crab. I really thought it would be mostly rice but nope. GREAT portion and SUPER delicious. will be thinking about it for a while 2. Ninja roll.. AGAIN how is it so good? perfect amount of spicy!! also they somehow made the salmon on top creamy? 3. Yokohoma roll had less flavor than the ninja but it felt fresher! its perfect for when u want fish but not too much flavor 4. Washing roll was surprisingly so good!! everything ive had so far has been FANTASTIC but i normally hate krab. they mixed it in a way that made is actually really yummy?! almost bbqy but idk how to describe it 5. eel avocado roll might be my favorite? it had a LOT of flavor. ill be honest it didnt taste much like EEL but more like whatever sauce they put on it. it wasnt sweet at all which is nice considering eel usually is be warned anything you dont finish will be chard a la carte so make SURE u dont order as much as me because i couldnt finish what i ordered The place itself is cold (which is a big plus for me when im eating) and looks like a family spot. idk how to describe it but you can just tell its a couple familys go to sushi place. theres tons of parking outside too! They also have a spot for you to sit on the sushi bar to watch the chefs cook! it was really cool and i even saw a couple people request to be sat there Everyone was so sweet and attentive i loved it :)
