Unbelievable atmosphere, food, service and drinks! Not to be missed!!

You need to do call ahead seating or you will be waiting for at least an hour. We called ahead and were in within 5 minutes and watched others walk in an wait. The decor was interesting - spray painted wall murals, license plates and fun t-shirts for sale. Each table was covered in brown paper and food served in disposable plates/cutlery. It wasn't very earth friendly but made for an easy cleanup. Kids were given crayons to keep busy while waiting. We ordered the Crispy Pig Tails as an appetizer, and were a bit disappointed. They were burned, breaded, deep-fried and had no flavor. For our entrees, we ordered the Beef Brisket Sandwich and Meat Pladda Combo - brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was soft, delicious and a nice cut of meat (no fat). The pulled pork was also favorable and pretty lean. They came with a really good sauce which was not part of the bottles on the table. So ask for extra of the super secret sauce :-) The kids ordered Pulled Pork sliders and Ribs. They finished them all - so I'm guessing quite a hit too! As far as the sides we ordered, we liked the Corn Bread, Cole Slaw, and Dirty Rice. The corn bread was light, fluffy and really moist. The cole slaw had just the right amount of sweet and vinegar kick to it. The dirty rice was tasty. We were not impressed with the Baked Beans. They were a bit watery. Second time we didn't make it past the rude and condescending hostess!! Frequent KC and never had an issue with the bartenders or waitresses but watch out for the hostess. We walked in and ask if we could grab a seat at the bar and the hostess said good luck, so we figured we'd just wait for a table then. Ask if we could get a table for 2 and she responded you'd have better luck at the bar. Who says that!?! Don't think we'll be heading back anytime soon. read more

We've always had fun at KC's, but our last visit was especially good. A group of us went there to celebrate my brother in law's birthday. It was a surprise party, and the hostess played it perfectly getting him to the Pig Pen area. From there, we were so fortunate to have Mckenzie as our server. She was an absolute delight all evening, and gave us excellent service throughout the night. The food was outstanding and we all left very satisfied. Thanks to all at KC's!!! read more

Attended a private event with 10 people. We had an Open bar that was alright. Many of the cocktails on their special list were very sugary. Standard mixed drinks were much better. We had ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and sausage, along with three different sides. The sausage was by far the best. The ribs were very disappointing. They seemed overcooked. The tangy bbq sauce did help out a lot though. The baked beans and coleslaw were very good, so I kept going back for seconds of those. read more

Date night! Found this place by happy accident and no regrets. Sooooooo delicious and fun, and the service from Brian was great! We got deep fried ribs and onion rings for appetizers, an orange crush mojito(SO REFRESHING), and a platter for 2(more like 4). We chose brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and the ribs. We enjoyed Brunswick stew and collard greens as our sides, and HAD to order the maple bacon ice cream and deep fried cheesecake for dessert. Yes, yes, you must get both and combine them, it's phenomenal. We dug into our food before taking pictures, and we've got enough for probably 2 more full meals here. Cannot recommend enough! Pretty good commercial BBQ. Everything we tried was tasty and had great flavor on its own without really "needing" any extra barbecue sauce. The meats were obviously what you come to a BBQ place for, so I suggest skipping the sandwiches and going straight for one of the combos of several types of meat and a few sides. We tried brisket (our favorite! YUMMMM!), pulled pork (solidly tasty with excellent texture) and the sausage (nice surprise: it wasn't a hot link, but a really chunky sausage!). The sides, baked beans, cole slaw and thick french fries, were tasty and fairly standard. The mashed potatoes were super thick and deliciously creamy and came with a generous helping of ok, not great/not flavorful, gravy. Personally I would have preferred plain mashed potatoes (they were so good on their own!) that I could have poured my baked beans on top of or mixed in chunks of meat; the gravy just wasn't good and didn't add anything. Service was good - timely attention when we sat down, quick to fill empty water glasses, fast to take our order and to bring out our food. My one complaint is about all the non-reusable items they use. Why use plastic utensils and styrofoam plates???? I think even just using butcher paper on a metal tray, like many Texas and Kansas City BBQ places do, would be better than endless styrofoam plates. Just saying. read more

Really fun looking place. At least the bar area anyways, I don't know much about that downstairs section. But up at the bar it was cool with all the Americana stuff hanging all over the place and the weird statues or mannequins and things like that. Real comfortable loosy goosy atmosphere. But on to the food ... Dirty rice was very good, not the best but getting there. Not too spicy, to the point where I think most dirty rice fans would be a little upset. It did have this weird meat in it though. I almost want to say it was meatballs from the spaghettio's and meatballs. That's almost exactly what it was like, kinda weird. Baked beans are very bland, I think there are some people who just expect it to be though. Good Smokey flavor to the Brisket but it was very tough. Ribs were about 6 inches long. Good flavor. Nothing making me say wow but good. Little bit smokey little bit zesty which is steps in the right direction but it needs to go a little further to be considered "Very good". But even then it wouldn't be that crazy, just a typical rib. Meat doesn't fall off the bone so that's good. North Carolina sauce is more like a sweet and sour sauce, almost like an Asian citrus duck sauce. Which was good but ... don't call it a N.C. Sauce. Their Gold sauce is a bit darker than most gold sauces I'm used to. I liked it but there wasn't a huge zing to it like most gold sauces. The hot sauce is a bit more runny and it's not hot. I can tell it's a hot sauce though. Corn bread was weird, when it went into my mouth it just sucked all the moisture out of my tongue and the bread became very doughy in consistency. But overall, I think people come here because of the atmosphere. It's a great place for a quick big meal that isn't bad at all. I'm trying BBQ from places all over New England, so my opinion is manly for the BBQ enthusiast, not the people looking for a good time. We were pretty excited about checking this place out. Since none of us were familiar with the area and this restaurant had good reviews, we decided to try it. The food came out fast! Like... Almost suspiciously fast? This place has decent food, and it's kid-friendly (the tablecloth is brown paper and there are crayons at every table) but when our meal came out and we noticed that literally everything was served on styrofoam and plastic, that really took away from the kinda cool, saloon vibe and gave it more of a fast-food feel. I would've let it go but the ribs were mediocre, and for any BBQ place to be any good they have to at least have good ribs. I will say that I really liked the baked beans, even though eating them out of styrofoam made me cringe. Sorry, but please stop with the styrofoam! read more

We went to KC's for the first time on a Friday night. We did call ahead but there was still a bit of a wait which was fine because one of our party was running late and everyone waiting was super friendly. Speaking of the wait, every parking spot was full and there were no open seats in the waiting areas. A really great sign. We finally get seated and were lucky enough to get Ashley as a server. Some people in our party are both dairy and gluten free. She was super patient and checked everything in the kitchen to confirm no allergy issues. She was also so patient with our questions and how long we took to order. We wound up getting the deviled eggs, onion rings and wings as apps. The teen foodie loved her eggs, which were awesome. Onion rings were delicious and crunchy and a perfect delivery device for sampling the various sauces on the table. Since we ODed on apps, three of us split a BBQ platter (chicken, sausage and pulled pork) to which we added a side of brisket. So. much. food. and all of it was delicious, messy BBQ perfection. I love cole slaw and theirs is on point. The cornbread was also perfect; sweet but not too. We were all so full, but there was a dessert we had to get: tableside DIY s'mores! What? Yes, they bring a sterno hibachi to the table with graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows. It was epic! Ashley was awesome again and brought extra marshmallows since our DF/GF friend can't have the chocolate or graham crackers. And, when we ran out of sterno, she brought another hibachi . . . without us asking. Such thoughtful service. From start to finish KC's more than exceeds any expectations in terms of food. The drinks and the food were really good. We all enjoyed our food. They do load up the portions so be careful. We all would have had a bunch of leftovers, but we were not headed anywhere we could take them back to so we had to leave them behind which was sad. We would have liked to have them later on. The parking lot is to the side of the entrance... which is on the side of the building.. the natural entrance (or where it may be) is where the back kitchen door, dumpsters and leaking trash cans are.. strange and almost immediately offputting. I am not one to stick my nose up at that, but some may. It is in fact one of the very few BBQ spots in the area so they get away with it. Classic rock radio def a plus! Interior decor is confused... old timey barn with jugs and old signs? Orr.. bar area with shiny new metal fencing and hammered on artwork and Ads from www.wearestartingabbqplacetomorrow.com . Lets just let the food speak for itself then! Plastic silverware... thin plates on plate coasters.. reminiscent of a backyard bbq.. but with air conditioning! Brisket entree was my meal of choice and the meat itself was good but lacking in smokey seasoning. Sides were passable but next time I may just pass on them altogether. Wings are a good app choice with some brews... but seriously when are they not? What stood out were the different sauces. I particularly loved the spicy sauce - not too hot or too thin! I'll remember this place when we want to come back in the summer time. It was just cold on those metal chairs even in the autumn.. i'd imagine it to be too chilly in the winter.. Was my first time here on a Sunday. We were seated quickly despite having the appearance of being crowded. The waitress took our drink order quickly which included 3 glasses of water and our appetizer order (pigtails). Within 2 minutes our waters were on the table and the waitress took out dinner order. Five minutes later our dinners were on the table, but no appetizer. We began eating out food, which Was delicious. Midway through the meal our waitress returned to ask how our food had come out to which we informed her was perfect. However we had still not received our appetizer yet. She apologized and summoned the person who delivers the food to the table and was told she would cancel the appetizer if we preferred. We told her we still wanted the "pigtails" ( it is a favorites of my niece and one reason she chose this place) and continued to eat our dinners. By the time we had totally finished our food we still had not received our "pigtails". Once again we asked our server where the appetizer was, she was shocked that we had not received it yet and went off to correct the mistake herself. I feel the problem is the waitress is only responsible for taking the order and someone else brings the food. I guess allows the process to be quicker, in a perfect world. It did not in our case. She brought our "pigtails" in a "to go" box in a bag and once again offered her apologies and did not charge us for the pigtails. Was I annoyed at the whole mistake, Yes. Will I return to eat there again? Absolutely. It was a mistake and they rectified it imho. The food was totally delicious and quickly served to us. Hello atmosphere! When you step through the doors of KC's you instantly feel like you've graduated from Hogwarts and perfected your floo powder transport skills! Instant southern vibe! Like anywhere eye catching you worry that the food will not be able to live up to the atmosphere, lucky for me, KC's was able to offer both! From the ribs to the sides everything sticks and goes down smooth! I admittedly haven't tried everything on the menu but what I have experienced has been delightful! We visited in a Sunday afternoon about an hour after they opened. We were greeted right away and a drink order taken. Staff was friendly. They came back within five minutes to take our order and we ordered the bacon jalapeño deviled eggs. The app came out quicker with a food runner. Eggs were nicely filled but extremely salty. We didn't see the server again for 10-15 minutes. We ordered the brisket meal with fries and chili and a Fenway frank with mashed potatoes and gravy. The mashed potato's and gravy had been scooped with a pulled pork spoon so there was pork in the potatoes which I didn't want so I asked for a replacement. The hot dog was delicious with a grilled buttery bun. The potatoes were cold and lumpy with warm gravy. The brisket was okay. The fries and chili were both lukewarm at best. Overall an underwhelming experience. We probably won't be back. Smokeshow BBQ in Concord is our favorite and we will stick with them. read more

We got takeout the other day for the first time from KC's. Never been there before. My wife picked up the Shovel Feed Bag. She said she was glad we did takeout rather than try to eat there because the place was packed (a good sign). The bbq was very good and the chili was great. My only negatives are that I couldn't really detect that smoky flavor and we only like one of the four sauces it came with. I would love it if they would try to do a copycat of Arthur Bryant's (Best BBQ place in Kansas City) sauce- it's freaking incredible. First time here, we came thanks to the reviews, and it was the best choice we could've made. We had a party of 7 and made a reservation night-of. Had to wait about 15min after our reservation time, but it was well worth the wait. Very good service, excellent ambiance and lots of space, so it doesn't feel crowded. And THE FOOD. So. Good. Well, there really is not to many things to say about this joint. Atmosphere was cool. Waitress was ok. Forgot things, despite having a notepad to write it down. Food. The pigtails appetizer was yummy. Cheese fries are well, just that cheese fries. The Chinese pie, cold, and way way to much pepper on top. I personally hate pepper, so I found myself scraping off as much as I could. Definitely should let the guest salt and pepper their own food. The flavor was ok. The cornbread was cold! Who wants cold cornbread? Not me. Half of the meat was chewy, brisket should be soft. Ribs had a lot of fat. The coleslaw was good. The stew was the only warm thing to have come out of the kitchen. They had a few different sauces that you could try. The apple BBQ stands out, tasted very much like apple pie filling, so pretty strong flavor there. Definitely did not pair well with the brisket. Beer, no complaints there. 34oz pours! That was the only great thing. Some got a fried cheesecake. It comes out as a roll and the sauce on top was raspberry and a strudel like frosting. My favorite bbq place, I have had a lot of bbq especially in Texas where there is nothing to compare to around here and there are some really good places. My go to and what I really enjoy is KC's Brisket Chinese pie my favorite version of Shepard's pie! Family friendly and nice sized portions. read more

Being a transport from Texas, I needed some comfort food that reminded me of home. Haven't had any luck with Mexican food, so I thought I'd try BBQ. I was greeted by such a great staff. We wanted to try this place out because it is the only bbq place in manchester (to my knowledge). The outside seating was super nice and the smell of fresh bbq enticing. We ordered the 2 people platter with ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and bbq chicken. The only item worth mentioning is the ribs. The rub used on them was great. Texture was also a good balance, not too hard or soft, great for gnawing on. The other meat items were dry... So disappointing. I'd recommend you just get the ribs... just the ribs. read more

Hadn't been to KC's in a very long time after a so-so experience. Was pleasantly surprised by my meal today- Choose two combo of pulled pork and the beef brisket. Two sides: fries and coleslaw and a piece of corn bread rounded out my plate. The shining star was the beef brisket for sure but the entire meal was phenomenal! Our waitress gave us paper straws and explained that they are trying to be more environmentally friendly. And then placed about 30 STYROFOAM plates on the table with plastic cutlery. What a joke. Buying "real" reusable plates and forks should be your first step!!! I can't believe this is even legal.
