Our baseball game was canceled so we decided to find some food. Based on the great reviews and our love for bbq we decided to try this place. As much as I wanted to love it, I just didn't. First, the decor is awesome and the place is much bigger inside than it appears. When we arrived their was a line of four or five in front of us. Before long, though, we were seated downstairs. The waiter we had was friendly and seemed to know the menu pretty well. I decided to try both the ribs and the brisket and my husband ordered pulled pork. After reading about how good the ribs were I was really looking forward to trying them. We also ordered the pig tails at the advice of our waiter. The appetizer came out soon after we ordered and I couldn't decide if I loved it or not. It was, however, a good way to try the sauces which I did like. I thought the mustard sauce mixed with the spicy vinegar sauce was the perfect mix. The big disappointment for me was the main course. The Cole slaw was very bland in my opinion and the pickles they put on the plate tasted like onions. The fries were good. The meat, though, was not. The flavor was great on my first bite of brisket but both the ribs and 40 percent of the brisket was so covered with fat it was almost unedible. Actually one piece of brisket was just fat. Very sad since the flavor was actually pretty good. Maybe we just hit it on a bad day but I can't recommend this place at all. Definitely didn't taste as good as I thought it was going to. Honestly this was my first time here, and if this wasnt 2hrs away I'd come here all the time. As soon as you get out of the car you can smell the bbq cooking. When you walk in there is a little shop you can buy clothes and probably other things and upstairs is where I sat. Very open, bar in the middle, high tables. Everything from the ribs, pulled pork even the chicken was so moist and had the best flavor. The staff were very polite and was very helpful. We are brand new to Bedford from the Boston area and saw this place online as one of the best in the area. As new residents, we are exploring all of our soon to be new local haunts. This place was GOOD, very good, and I am picky. Service by Julian was great, the atmosphere was fun and kid friendly (you can draw on the tables!), drinks were excellent (lots of coconut-y ones!), and the food was above and beyond. This was absolutely delicious, a great stop on the way to Boston. Fun decor, and friendly staff.

After discovering a love for 'real' BBQ, and especially after hearing of the shovel, I knew I had to stop in. I previously had some amazing BBQ at Goodstuff Smokehouse, so the bar was set high. In addition to the Feedbag Shovel, I was able to try the chili! While they don't advertise it, there is an 8oz option. If you like your chili on the chunkier side, this may not be for you, since the ingredients for ground rather finely. Still, everything was cooked very nicely, including the beans. Also, tomatoes were peeled, so you wont be fishing out tomato skins from between your teeth. Then came to shovel... It comes with a whole bunch of stuff, including pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, sausage, and a full rack of ribs. Not to mention 2 - 16oz sides (got Coleslaw & Fries). The only highlight was the pulled chicken. It was cooked to tender perfection, and amazingly seasoned. Everything else was either average, or missed the mark. Pulled pork, sausage, cornbread and Coleslaw were run of the mill. Ribs were rather burnt, and while not bad per se didn't gain a melt-of-the-bone characteristic. No need for me to drive for an hour for ribs I can get at Applebee's. Then there was the brisket... stuff that clogs your arteries like bacon grease in a cold pipe, but is so worth it. Well, this brisket was burnt to a crisp. It was to such an extent where the meat was tough, and that delicious, artery-clogging fat was lost as well. When this was brought up to our server, we were told it's because that was the ends, and next time we can ask for center cut. Two things: 1. Why weren't we given the option initially? 2. A different cut is no excuse to burn something to a disgraceful crisp that'll give your jaw a workout. To their credit, we were offered some of the center cut, but only after complaining about what was provided. Fries: allegedly these are made fresh, yet when they arrived they were neither hot nor crisp. The service: host stand was disorganized, with two or three people asking how many, being told there are three with a reservation, and then going off to do something else. I love barbecue. I don't know if I can say that enough. Every time I am somewhere looking for a lunch barbecue is one of the things I try and find. After stopping at a new brewery, I was suggested to go to KC's rib shack. The service was very good. I ordered a brisket and ribs combo with cornbread and coleslaw and a side of stew. The stew was very tasty and the cornbread was absolutely amazing. I can't tell you how tough it is to find good cornbread these days. The stew is also quite tasty. The downside was the ribs were in re-as well as the coleslaw, which was really odd. Usually with barbecue coleslaw, you either have a mayonnaise based creamy coleslaw, or a vinegar based, neither which are supposed to be dry. This seemed like they just put a bunch of vegetables in a bowl with no kind of dressing and served it. I also noticed that the beer had a sour taste to it which it shouldn't have had. This place was so much fun we brought family here for a birthday dinner. The staff were nice and the food was good. The sauces were the best and my favorite part of the barbecue. I liked how the sauces were out on the table I was able to get as much i wanted. They sell sauces and other stuff which was great because we bought a couple. Great bbq restaurant! Food is good and you will definitely be leaving with a filled belly. My bf and I stayed at boston and we drove to new hampshire for a day trip. We didn't know how crowded it would be so we decided to make a reservation for 2 around 8pm on Yelp. When we arrived, it was not crowded so we were seated pretty quickly. Server was friendly and he was quick with service. We sat at the table area and we got the platter for 1 with 4 meats and 2 sides (mashed potatoes, dirty rice). It was a lot of food for $30. It also came with corn bread which was really good. I ate majority of the corn bread. Great service and good food. This is a really nice hidden gem with a beautiful setting that makes you feel at home. Beautiful wood setting with many large screen TV's for those that want to see a game and also corner tables for people that want more privacy. We shared a three meat meal with the pulled pork, spare ribs and chicken and all three were amazing. Very juicy and smokey and nice and soft, easy to pull from the bone. We tried all the BBQ sauces from the tangy, sweet and spicy and they did not disappoint. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the beer and margarita, we almost had to ask just to make sure they were right. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to KC's. The food, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding. The restaurant has a fun, relaxed, road-house vibe, with interesting memorabilia decorating the walls. There are multiple dining areas and bars, but the noise level was reasonable so we had no difficulty having a conversation. Our young waitress was friendly, helpful, and patient in answering our questions about the menu. The highlight was the food. We decided to share a QQ Pladder, modified it to our taste. The ribs, chicken, and especially the brisket and sausage were all terrific--as good as we've had in any BBQ joint. I ordered a tossed salad as well, and it was large enough to share with the entire table (also some of the best bleu cheese dressing I've had). For sides, my son loved the onion rings he ordered (though I prefer a different type of breading). We also went with french fries (which were great), and we tried the Brunswick Stew. I highly recommend the latter; it's a delicious soup-like stew with beef and vegetables--I could eat a bowl of this for an entire meal. And there are various BBQ sauces on the table, all of which were great. We can't wait to go back the next time we're in Manchester. The prices are very reasonable, so it's a great place to take the whole family. Highly recommended. read more

Cannot remember our waiters name, but he was in the Army Reserves and got hurt on his motorcycle. He was wonderfully exquisite, kept our drinks full, small talk - you name it, he had it! Absolutely, mouth watering meat. BBQ sauces were spectacular. My favorite was Tangy Georgia Gold with the Hikory as a close second. They were all so good. We the Half rack combo with Coleslaw and collard greens, chicken sandwich, brisket Swiss and bacon sandwich and a half dozen corn breads. THOSE CORNBREADS!!!!!! Went here with my family for lunch and it was very good barbecue. They had both sweet and unsweetened iced tea and the sweet was very good. I had the pulled pork sandwich, it came with a side and a pickle. I had the mashed potatoes with gray. Overall the food was good and came out quick and service was great too. So we've eaten here twice. The first time was a couple of years ago and it was very...meh. However, it keeps getting positive press and good Yelp reviews so we thought we'd give it one more shot. Let me start with the positives. Our experience with the staff was great. Everyone was very pleasant and service was good. The ambiance is also excellent. They do a great job setting up a roadhouse-style environment; eg license plates on the walls, neon signs, quirky art, butcher paper tables etc. The problem is...the food just isn't very good. Between the 3 of us we got pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork, collard greens, Mac salad, mashed potatoes, chili and started out with bacon topped deviled eggs. The eggs were super salty. Couldn't really taste much else. Brisket was ok but had this weird tomato glaze on it. Ribs were good sized, but just lacked flavor. Pulled pork was pretty good. It was NC style with a vinegar sauce. Nice and peppery. Collard greens were bitter and inedible. Mac salad was gross. Tasted like the wrong ration of sour and Mayo. Mashed and gravy were bad; tasted like jar gravy. If you're looking to scratch that BBQ itch, this just isn't the place. read more

I have been to BBQ in Kansas City and Texas and I must say I never expected to find bbq so good in New Hampshire. The service was great and we were seated upstairs and loved the all the custom license plates around the place. I definitely recommend this gem of a restaurant if you want to try some great bbq food that will transport you to the south. Outside kind of tiki bbq bar/restaurant (where I sat) 2. Family style open dining area 3. Inside bar/restaurant All areas have their own vibe and decor which I thought was pretty cool. I was there on a Saturday so they had live music inside and out. I ordered the 3 meat sampler. Ribs, chicken and brisket and two sides. Portions were huge! Each meat had great flavor and you could choose from a carousel of sauces. I would have liked a hotter sauce but all were good. The bartendress kept the drinks coming and I devoured my meat and quickly entered a meat coma... I even ordered a side salad (which I did not need) it was huge and fresh too! We decided to come here before going to a concert locally. Weed heard about the place, but never actually knew where it was, so it was good we had directions that were only five minutes from our hotel. It wasn't busy at all, but then again it was an early on a Saturday night. We had ribs, and some amazing sandwich that I can't remember the name of, but it had literally everything but the kitchen sink in it. We got sodas as well. The service was amazing, we sat in the upstairs bar area. Everybody's food looked really good. The ribs were great. The sauce is the offer? Many different kinds. Paragraph will definitely be back.
