I moved to the Manchester area 24 years ago & have found that KC's has been a go to for as long as I can remember. Anytime I've wanted a quality brisket or a killer combo, which all of the ones they offer are great...I go to KC's and eat my fill. My wife & I love smoked food and the barbecue & this place gets it right every time! It doesn't hurt that the staff is always aiming to please. This is an amazing BBQ joint, but you can already tell from the reviews. Brisket is juicy and tender, and has nice flavor. Sausages are cut a little too thin, but they taste great. Ribs are amazing as well, but their signature BBQ sauce really ties everything together very well. They do get quite busy, so make sure to make reservation if dining in during weekend. read more

Truly delicious!! We drove here from Montreal for the long weekend in May, arrived around noon on a Saturday and there was plenty of room. We were seated on the main floor and right away I felt at home in this shack. Love the butcher paper on the tables and roll of brown paper towels, it just feels like the kind of place you can get messy in and have a good time. I read a few reviews before going and already had a good idea of the menu so my boyfriend and I opted for combo platters, we sampled ribs, brisket and pork sausages paired with sides of macaroni salad, chili and corn bread. The portions and prices were very reasonable, all the meats were cooked just right, tender, juicy, flavorful. The addition and choices of sauces were also amazing, my favorite was the sweet apple which was a perfect fit with the pork sausage. The food is so good you don't need the sauces but they are there for the extra wow and dazzle. I am normally not big on corn bread but KC's does it right- this was so moist and sweet, you could have fooled me if you told me this was a vanilla pound cake instead!! I love how roomy this restaurant is, there is even an outdoor patio area however this was not yet open when we went. The only drawback is that all food is served on styrofoam plates along with plastic utensils. This may be useful in re-creating a family style bbq/backyard party vibe, however the round plates tend to look small and cramped when the food is piled on and obviously this can't be good for the environment. Serving food on reusable metal trays or in baskets at the very least lined with parchment paper could be a nicer option as I've seen at many other bbq joints. Ordered the takeout shovel for 4-5 people. All the meat selections were very good. The sides were small, two 1lb containers of beans and macaroni salad. The sides weren't very good. I didn't like the beans because they put green bell pepper in, yuck. Corn bread was delicious. Could have used more Bbq sauce. read more

So I go to a lot of places to eat since I'm a food junkie, food blogger and I post on Yelp every week when I go out and I have to start by saying, this restaurant is in my top 5 for sure!!!! I couldn't believe how good it was. I mean from the food to the flavor to the atmosphere to the service( it goes on and on). I had never been here before and when I go somewhere for something I go out to eat and I study all the places to eat in the area. I get here and got to sit outside which has live music, picnic tables, a tiki bar, and two private tables. We got to sit at the private table which was really nice. The waitress was wonderful and friendly. I ordered the smoked chicken with chili and mashed potato's. My fiancé got the half rack of ribs with fries. The meals came with corn bread! Everything was made in house and fresh! They where all seasoned so well and I love seasoning! The chicken was cooked perfectly and juicy. The chili has the right amount of spice and the ribs had a beautiful coating. I love 1 1/2 away from this place and I will definitely be going back!!! Lastly! We ordered the s'mores dessert which is like a small fire with all the things you need for s'mores and the sticks! Sooo cool and such a nice touch! read more

Boy oh boy is this place finger licking good!!!! Stayed in NH for the weekend and wanted to try out a local food spot. Outside sit the hot smokers and the smell just pulls you in!!!! We had about a half hour wait but it wasn't so bad bc we literally drooled over every order that passed by us. Staff was very friendly and there's a souvenir shop at the entrance. Food was honestly OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!! My family and I kept saying this was the best BBQ we have ever had. So authentic and the meat literally melts in your mouth. I loved this place! Four of us split a "feed bag shovel," a massive combination. I LOVED the ribs and didn't even try the other meats. My husband tried everything and liked the ribs best. I recommend that you stick with the ribs. For sides, we picked the French fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was good, but the fries were GREAT! Next time, I'd just get the ribs and French fries. Takeout for lunch today, I stopped at KC's on the way back from Manchester and brought my meal back to the hotel. This is a neat place and the newly remodeled upstairs area would be an amazing place for a Monday night football event. Impressive. As for the food, I got the rib lunch. Three large ribs, very well loaded with meat and a little moist. Easy to eat and not get stuff all over the place. Delicious. With them, cole slaw (a little wet but good) and collard greens that had some bacon mixed through them. If I'd been at the restaurant, I'd have added a little vinegar but they were otherwise good. DELICIOUS!!! This could be my new favorite BBQ place since "Big Mouth BBQ" at Montana. Me and my friends were craving for some BBQ and since we were all hungry we finally found this place "KC's Rib Shack" It was a great decision. The building looked pretty fashion. There are two floors. The second floor is where the bars at, but we sat on the first-floor seating. It wasn't busy during the time so we got our drink and menu fast. I really liked their menu style. It is like reading an old newspaper back in the day. We finally made up our mind. We got the "Feedbag Shovel" and their famous pigtail and onion rings. It was a good decision to make, it can feed up to 3-5 people. It was a whole shitload of food in that shovel. Ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken, sausages, cornbread, and two of there sides. The ribs were cooked perfectly I think. It falls off when I took a bite and the seasoning was good too. We literally stuffed our belly, and we did finish everything on the shovel. It was a great experience for us. We will come back here if we ever stop around Manchester, NH again. Not to mention, their service is great too. Despite the last-minute request and adapting to a scenario outside their usual scope, they managed everything seamlessly and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Their team was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure all our needs were me and I am sincerely grateful for all their hard work to help make sure our event was a success. This would be my wife's second time eating in dining room. My first time eating here with my wife was excellent the ribs fell off the bone just the way we love it. Unfortunately our second experience was not that great, the ribs were dry not pleasant meal. Hostess & Waitress were very professional. Just didn't give us the feeling as the first time. Have been to KC's Rib Shack several times and never disappointed. Today was no exception! Octoberfest was in full swing; great band playing, and recorded polka / German music playing. Even heard the Beatle's "Komm, gib mir deine Hand" ("I Want to Hold Your Hand" with German lyrics)! The place was packed! I have no idea how the wait staff managed, but somehow they did. Very disappointed. Was there for Mother's Day and they had a nice buffet spread and throughly enjoyed it. Called a few days before Father's Day asking if they were doing the buffet again and was told yes. Made a reservation and when we sat down was told no buffet! This place rules. The food is awesome. The staff is really kind, and it has a fun and family friendly vibe to it.

Visiting one of our main offices on a work trip and KC's popped up as a recommendation just around the corner. I need to start by just sharing I'm not the biggest cornbread fan (garlic bread or bust, boiii), if its served up I'm most likely to leave it untouched or forget about it all together. -This- cornbread tho, I'd lay my life on the line to protect a pan of this stuff. Its fluffy and sweet and has little bits of what I think was molasses scattered throughout. I couldn't get enough of it- but since I'd ordered my food to-go, I also had to ration it. The cornbread came along side what they call their Chinese Brisket Pie, its essentially a Shepherd's Pie stuffed with super moist brisket and some pretty tasty creamed corn as opposed to the usual fare. It was a huuuuge serving that lasted two meals and ran just around $13. There were audible chomping sounds while I scarfed away in my hotel room. I'm worried about how much I'll crave this BBQ after I get back to Texas of all places, gonna need to plan some more work trips out to New Hampshire. A friend recommended KC's because the band had a gig at Strange Brew that night. I asked if KC's was better than BT's in Worcester & Sturbridge. He said "yes". He's wrong. I had the "2 Meat Pladda" - a couple ribs + pulled pork + dirty rice & slaw. The ribs came out cold, the pulled pork tasted like it was boiled (not smoked) and the sides were average at best. The place has lots of character, your eyes will not run out of interesting things to wander over, whether it's the colorful decor or the cheeky sayings on the employee's shirts. I grabbed a pulled pork sandwich with some chili and mac salad. The food was great, but the standout for me was the array of BBQ sauces available, each with notes on flavour profile and best pairings. The BBQ was really good we had the pig tails which was really good and allow us to test the sauces ahead of our dinners I had three meats for one the ribs were smoked well but could have cooked a little longer but the pull pork and brisket was very good and had chicken wings which were crispy the sides were ok the beans were just canned with some green peppers in them and macaroni salad tasted good and the collard greens were good but need a little more vinegar I would recommend this place and would go again and the waitress were very helpful and the place is fun place to eat and the drinks are Texas size read more

This was my first time at KC's and what an amazing experience! We were treated like royalty. The atmosphere is welcoming and fun. The staff was amazing and friendly each introducing themselves I felt like I was famous. Just that experience alone has me coming back... But wait there's more the food ummm hello was incredible we couldn't decide what to eat so we opted to go with the shovel which has something to please every carnivore craving one could have. The sides well you guessed it were amazing and huge even the single serve was enough to feed all 3 of us. I absolutely loved the macaroni salad. Most recent visit was a Friday after work. I called ahead for take out. When I arrived I was told they didn't have my order as the kitchen was very busy. I asked what did that mean and was told they would only give me half of my order. I told the wait staff that was unacceptable as all I ordered was smoked meats which shouldn't take any time as they were already cooked and just needed to be put in a take out container. I told them I'd wait but I couldn't leave with only some of the food to feed my family. Finally a supervisor or someone that has some sort of authority came in and rectified the situation. I waited a few more minutes and my food was brought out to me. No discount or anything on the order for the screw up. Now on to the actual review. KC'S is voted the best in NH consistently and there is no doubt why. The good is excellent. Is it Redbones in Somerville good? Close by not quite. The ribs were almost perfectly. A little chew to them and just about fall off the bone tender at the same time. Wings were done just right with just enough smoke and crispy skin. I also got the beef brisket which was juicy and delicious. I'm not usually a fan of brisket but theirs was the bomb. The only real nit picky thing I have is there is no Mac-n-cheese at all for a side. Will I be back? Yes and hopefully they get their takeout together and don't give anyone else the BS about a busy kitchen while still seating other guests again. read more
