I came here to pick up some low sugar mooncakes for my diabetic grandma yesterday- Kee Wah carries large and mini low sugar mooncakes. I haven't tried the reduced sugar mooncakes yet, but their normal sugar mooncakes are pretty good! I don't really like mooncakes but these are the ones I can tolerate. They also carry a ton of other delicious Asian baked goods- egg tarts (many different kinds), grandma cookies, meat pies, and sweet and savory breads. I always have to force myself to shop quickly here or else I will end up buying everything! Prices are around the same as 85 Degree Bakery, so super affordable for a tasty treat. Parking is a breeze since you can park in the huge adjacent lot. read more

Food: I love the signature crispy egg tarts (delicious but at $.90/ each) but I wouldn't go back for this all the time. They have a delicious flaky crust with custard filling in the middle, not too sweet and just a delectable bite. I even bought 80pcs for my wedding and they were a hit! They also make a really good pineapple bun and they make really soft breads. I think what would help is having samples so you could try the different pastries here. Staff: The staff here speak both English and Chinese. I haven't found a single person who works there super helpful or friendly. Most are there just to do their job. They work fast and get you what you need, but if you want great Customer Service, I wouldn't say this is the place for it. In comparison, the staff at 85C Bakery are super friendly and helpful. Our son, who loves pineapple buns and egg tarts, considers Kee Wah the best local bakery for those two items. He prefers Kee Wah over JJ Bakery. The special occasion pastries come in the most beautiful and adorable metal containers with panda, kaolas, and more. So you have a bonus, cute container after you finish enjoying the high quality, tasty pastries. The lemon iced tea here is one of the best in the area - good quality strong tea made with fresh lemon juice and lemon slices. They use really great lemons- very fragrant. I was watching them make the tea, and I could smell the lovely lemon scent from where I was waiting by the cashier when they were slicing the lemons for my tea. They use high quality flavor syrups for their other teas such as passion fruit. The service here is warm, friendly, and helpful. We've only been here 2-3 times, and they already remember us! This location is convenient, clean and the staff here is very sweet and nice. I've gone here SO many times, but it's taken me forever to get to writing my review. Sorry Kee Wah Arcadia! My husband and I really love the milk powder buns. We enjoy all their treats, but that one is our fave (for those who like sweet). I also love the pineapple bun they toast up and put a chunk of butter in it... very good with a hot tea for breakfast (or coffee if you're a coffee drinker). Their hot pastries under the heat lamp are really good, too. Honestly, you can't go wrong here. Their pastries are a bit pricier than, say, JJ Bakery, but the quality is what you're paying for. My new favorite bakery! I bought the Groupon discount promo and I'm so happy to report that it was worth it. I tried their original egg tarts--delicious, light, not too sweet, moist with right amount of firmness without that "eggy" smell/aftertaste...which got me hooked. I also tried their curry pie and oh man, it's so good. Their pork floss bread was perfectly seasoned! The best part--prices ranged from $1.20-$2.50 for quality--speciality breads! Staff here is incredibly helpful and nice and the setup of this location is good, although a tad small. Food is always consistently solid, I've taken a predilection to their crispy egg tarts. I love their Bolo Bao! It is much better than JJ Bakery. With a yelp check in, you get free small lemon ice tea. Also, now, you can accumulate points and get free breads! If I could give zero stars I would. I usually don't leave reviews for Asian places because I know that their customer service won't be par. But this bakery just made me mad. I usually love the pastries that kee wah offers. My sister and I decided to stop by since we here they just opened a branch here in Arcadia and my best friend said they were giving away cute little reusable bags as a gift with $10 or more purchase. As we were shopping around we notice that everyone was just a reusable bag with their purchase. Even the customer that was just ahead of us. Then when it was our turn to pay. I asked for a reusable bag since but my sister and I each purchase over $10 worth of items. They said that it was only for people who signed up. And when we asked how to sign up she said they'll send you an email. And when we asked for more information to how to sign up she just ignored us. Which is not a great way to treat your customers by the way. I'm upset at the fact that not only non of the staff greeted us or offer us any help while we were looking around but for that cashier to be rude about it when I ask for a reusable bag even after all the other customers got one. I didn't know that it was a promotion that they got to pick and choose who to give it to. It is sad to see that for such a good company that they would hired such rude staffs. I always buy bread and Hong Kong style pastries at Kee Wah and they are always good; however, I ordered the UCC coffee the other day and they put way too much ice in the drink, nearly 2/3 of the coffee is ice. Saturday morning about 9 a.m. Plenty of parking in back. Quite a few customers. Shelves almost empty. I selected a ham and cheese bun for my dog, and a pork and a curry hot pastry pie for me. I asked about a menu item as everything is boldly in Chinese. The gal at the register was less than helpful and unsure of what I wanted. I felt a level of discomfort that I seldom experience as a n anglo in an Asian business. Paid by $6 and change, never to return. Another good thing about this place is that there is TONS of parking in the back. The parking lot is basically empty at all times of the day. As for the owner, I've seen her scolding her employees in Cantonese outside of the bakery. I recently moved to this area. I've been to the Kee Wah Bakery in Monterey Park and I got to say that I prefer this location more than the Monterey Park location. The staff is friendly. They also have five star rewards and yelp promotion for a free drink. Additionally, there are morning and afternoon promotions like getting coffee/tea + bun (which includes their famous egg tarts) for $3.99. What a deal! I also recently came back from a trip to Hong Kong and this place makes me nostalgic of my recent trip. Kee Wah Bakery offers three types of egg tarts - 1. signature crispy egg tart, 2. Portuguese tart with flakier crust and 3. traditional egg tart. I came early in the morning, around 8:45 a.m. and sad to see that the Portugese tart was not available. I opted for the signature crispy egg tart which quickly satisfied my sadness and early morning hunger. I also ordered their Hong Kong milk tea. I enjoyed the tea. It had a nice balance of milk + tea. One day i stopped by JJ bakery down the street to pick up some egg tarts and they were sadly all sold out! I had no idea what to do when I turned to my trusty yelp app and it lead me to this bakery! That said, baked goods were all the usual, for the fundamentals (sponge cake, hot dog bun, dan tat, melon cake, etc.) I actually prefer them to their competitors. I have no idea what went wrong with those people who working there! I had mentioned that this bakery was my favorite at other Kee Wah review and unfortunately I have to change it! This was one of the must stop places every time I head back to Northern CA from visiting my family but not anymore from the experience I had on the past Sunday at 9 am. My family and I went there to purchase baked goods as usual and the young Cantonese lady around 20s with glasses gave me hell of attitude and even made sound showing me that I'm so annoyed by that time I was talking to my family for double checking which is which. That was so rude of her that made faces and sounds to to customers already, I was even more mad and upset that when I went back home and opened the box of egg/custard tarts, I seen all my tarts grumbled! She put 5 tarts on the bottom layer and 3 on top instead even layers 4 bottom and 4 on top! They used to have good friendly customer service, I guess they have to well training their employees otherwise they'll lose customers like Southern CA! P.S. My wife and I went there this morning and had their pineapple bun with butter and latte. Wow, I was really impressed. The bun was as good as Hong Kong's finest. It may have something to do with the fact that it was freshly made that morning. The latte was so much better than 85 Degree, up to par with Starbucks.
