Review for to-go lunch box. It is pretty good and perfect for anyone who doesn't have time cook. The lunch boxes comes with rice (you can sub for brown rice), half of boiled egg, vegetables and meat. Pretty much like a home cooked meal by mom. Mines cane with curry so it wasn't too bland. Overall it is good-okay.

Yummy lunch. Mixed box with brown rice

Very good Taiwanese homemade lunch and pastry. So glad I work close by :) I pick up their homemade lunch at least 2x a week. There's always a different variation of brown/white rice with tofu/vege, pork and chicken made different way. I never ask what they serve. I just order a box when I'm hungry :) Their homemade pumpkin bread and flax seed cranberry bread is the best in the world. I don't like to eat a lot of bread, only baguette and the one they have here. Must try if you like an easy place to pick up home cook meals

    Nian gao! (Year cake)

The best place to get "nian gao" !!! Or in english, rice cake, year cake, Chinese new year cake. You have to preorder to get the bigger ones (size of a small pie, $12) but they sell tiny individual ones on the spot! I love the nian gao here because it's always soft, chewy, not too sweet, and has the perfect layer of red bean on the bottom! Make sure to eat them in a day or two, they get old fast!

The little wooden box bento is adorable. And the food is actually not bad. It's a quick fix for Taiwanese food :-)

Ask the Community - A&J Bakery

    Are they closing down?

I tried to see if they were open twice in the past 6 months when driving by during business hours; both times they have been closed, so I don't think they are operating anymore.

The pastry was flakey on all of them. The cheese tart was not so memorable, so I'd stick to the coconut and egg tarts. Come here for an affordable sweet treat. The guy before me bought 24 egg tarts. Luckily, they had some ready in the kitchen so I didn't have to wait long for my small order. Parking is on the street or a short walk to the city parking lot.

Patisserie Too is located down in Main Street in Alhambra. There are public parking structures or street parking down in this area. We parked in a public structure a few blocks away and walked over. We got really lucky with timing because there was no line when we got here but it got busy soon after. They have a cute selection of little cakes and some pastries. For the cakes, my niece and I made our decision based on what was visually more unique compared to other things we've seen. We got the Baby Shark ($7.75), Garlic Bird ($8.75), and King Panda ($8.75). That was a lot of treats already, but we also got the Portuguese Egg Tart ($0.99/each). Service was nothing memorable. They have 3 small tables inside a I think 2 outside. Not much seating, so I'm really glad we got first dibs at a table before it was busy. When we sat down, we arranged our cakes for photos. These cakes were definitely made with molds. They are super cute and unique molds. The garlic bird was the best tasting combination and texture. The baby shark was already dripping blue sweat when it was served to us. The mousse was a little off. Halfway through eating there was the chocolate cake base that was strangely only in half of the cake. The panda was probably the worst and we didn't care to finish it. The mouse was strange in texture and the filling definitely had too much gelatin because it was rubbery. Cute but the technical execution was lacking for my preference. The egg tart was also pretty good. Not as flakey as I like it to be but it was an inexpensive treat so I wouldn't mind getting it again. Definitely a cute spot to take friends and family who enjoy cute treats. Not sure if I come here frequently myself, but it does bring a visual wow factor.

This particular location though, could use some work with consistency. The selection and quality of pastries and drinks seem to vary throughout my many visits. My top pastries are all of their croissant-like pastries, especially the Pastry Frank (filled with a savory sausage inside) and Mini Strawberry Lemon Cream Croissant (filled with a smooth and tangy lemon cream and fresh strawberries that add a tartness). Both of these have flaky, buttery exterior shells that are wonderful to bite into. For cakes, I love the strawberry soft cream cake. This cake is simple, light, and not too sweet. The thin layers of vanilla, soft cream, and strawberries blend excellently together. I appreciate that they provide free candles with whole cakes. An underrated cake is the green tea roll cake, which is delicious, but not ideal for celebrations.

Service was quick and everything came out exactly right, which made the whole visit feel easy and relaxed. I left very happy and already thinking about what I'm trying next time. I was definitely satisfied and I can't wait to return.
