Came here for breakfast for my first time today. What a stellar location (see picture), right on the beach. The service staff was exceptional. We had Elizabeth looking after us and she was very courteous and most efficient. Two of my friends had the eggs Benedict, which was absolutely perfect. Both enjoyed it and raves about the flavors. I had they Rancho Huevos with eggs and chicken with the green spicy sauce. The portion was huge and I couldn't finish it. The overall quality of the food more than justifies the prices. You get great value for what you pay for. I can only recommend this place. read more

Keel provides a beautiful setting, with an open air bar and attached deck overlooking the ocean. Seems like a good spot for a cocktail and bar bite while enjoying the views; we enjoyed the view and setting so much, we stayed for dinner, and I will say that I think you could do better down here for the full meal (even factoring in the generous Yelp 20% check-in discount!). Our group started with the Boneless chicken bites with tamarind jack Daniels sauce, which was a solid appetizer, along with a mixed ceviche, which was decent as well--a bit one note and overly spicy, but overall acceptable. The entrées were a bit more on the mediocre side, unfortunately. My burger was overcooked to my order, and my friend hated his soggy New Orleans pizza with mediocre, almost flavorless cheese. Drinkwise, the cocktails were good; however, my friend who is a bit of a wine connoisseur was disappointed with both of his glasses of white, and I was surprised how few interesting Mezcals they had to offer. On the whole, this was still a decent spot and an overall pleasant experience. Views aren't the hardest to come by in this town, but the one on their deck is excellent. Pick the right drinks and grab a couple of apps and pull up a chair to enjoy, check in on Yelp if they are still offering that discount, and you'll do just fine. read more

We came into Playa Del Carmen for the afternoon for lunch and shopping. I wanted someplace beach-front, and found Keel. Located in a hotel directly on the beach, our table was practically in the sand. Service was great, prices were reasonable for a hotel on the water, and the food was very good. I had Arrachera (skirt steak) tacos, and my wife had an excellent, if messy cheeseburger - served on a croissant. She had a bright red house specialty cocktail that was very good, and I had dark Bohemia beer. We lingered at the table for a while, enjoying the busy beach scene. Server checked in frequently, and the manager stopped by to chat. Very friendly, welcoming place. The inside area is very upscale, and the bathrooms were spotless. My husband and I stumbled upon Keel which is located inside the Carmen hotel, when we were looking for brunch spots. The seating right on the beach is really what lured us in. We were greeted immediately and seated. The menu had a variety of classic "continental" options as well as signature dishes like huevos rancheros. The continental options come with a ton of fruit, I noticed almost everyone around us ordered it. We decided on signature breakfast meals. Service was a little slow but honestly when the beach is in front of you, meh ya forget all about it. Once our food came out they were presented well, hot & delicious. My husband and I both crushed our dishes. I got the huevos rancheros and my husband got another eggcellent dish with a green sauce and nachoes (cant remember what it was called for the like of me) but that green sauce mmmmmm. The staff spoke English well, we can carry a convo in Spanish but only for so long (hehe). The server recommended their green juice I forget exactly what was in it, but it was healthy & tasted good. My only wish was that they had more coffee options. I ordered a cappuccino and it was made from a nespresso machine (I have a nesp. @ home -maybe I wanted something more elevated) not a big deal since the server ended up comping our coffees. Dinner was magnificent! The service was great. The wait staff was very attentive but not pushy. The food was seasoned great! The churro with ice cream for desert was outstanding. They do not give out straws, but neither does anyone else in Playa. This was our second visit to this restaurant and it was even better than last year! read more

What a great first stop for my buddy's birthday. Elizabeth took great care of him and got the staff together for an adorable Happy Birthday in Spanish. Well. My Spanish is bad so maybe they are just taunting him. We had the Carmel waffles, the juevos rancheros, and the machaca scrambled eggs. All excellent. I've never had machaca before. It's great. The food here was so good. We stopped after a long day at Xel Ha and was pleasantly surprised. Andres was out bartender and he made the best drinks; his caprinhas were the best. So refreshing and reasonably priced. We didn't know what to order and he made drinks and shots on the spot and they were good. We couldn't love this place more. We came here last year and really loved it. Now we are here in PDC again this year and Keel is the only beach club we'll go to. Their food is really good. The Mexican pizza is really good and the breakfast items all are good. We also love the servers. We again this year have been treated by Eli. She helped us last year and was so fun. She recognized us from our previous visits and so we already had a great contact here. She is attentive and makes great suggestions from the menu. We have taken several friends here and they all love it and love the service from Eli. read more

Beautiful view of ocean and peaceful shaded patio. At first our server told us they didnt serve sushi . Then came back out and told us we could order a dragon roll. We waited 40 minutes for 2 sushi rolls and once we told someone we were still waiting and had to leave in 10 minutes to catch our flight our server came out and asked us if we still wanted our rolls. We were the only ones on the patio so they weren't busy so that was odd. They hurried to get our rolls packaged up to go for us and then we showed them the 20% off yelp coupon which she then went back in to apply the coupon, but after we hurried to pay, tip and were walking to our car we realized she didn't apply the coupon. Sushi was really good however it was unfortunate to eat it in our hot car driving to the airport. read more

Great food options, everything from some Mexican fare to sushi, seafood, and huge sandwiches/burgers. More fusion/trendy options too like different drink specials than just typical beer and margaritas. Views are amazing on the beach and the wait staff was all very attentive and friendly. This is the place to go for breakfast! The egg boss is HUGE and everything is so delicious. The waffles are great and the juices are so fresh. The coffee is hard to beat. The view of the beach is lovely and the service is fantastic. The prices are affordable, so pig out! read more

I will start with the restaurant being on the beach and the staff being great. They did listen to all of our complaints and tried their best to remedy the horrible food issue. Now with the not good . First off the iPad as your menu is strange and stupid. A menu is just fine . Plus they went dead while we were looking at them . Let's go to the menu items it's self. It is sooooooo confused . It is all over the place . Sushi which is not sushi so they shouldn't list it on yelp. Pizza that tasted like it had canned sauce and terrible crust. Burgers that were soooo gross . My family felt sick the next day . I got sliders and took one one bite. Then sent it back. I don't understand why they ask what temperature you want it comes out grey . It tasted like a cheap filler tasteless meatball. Don't order it . The caesar salad was drizzled with ranch with mozzarella on it. not a caesar salad at all. Didn't Caesar salad originate in Mexico ???? My step father got the octopus. It was rubbery and tasted too much like the grill. My brothers got the tuna was over cooked and had some sort of heavy spice that hid that it was even tuna . My sister and bother got burgers and felt sick today. The table next to us got sick and hated their food as well. We also had to send our drinks back because it tasted like there was no alcohol in then at all. This place needs to get it together. Change your quality of ingredients and your menu . In the mean time do not fall for this tourist trap. There are plenty of spots that are better . read more

I had mixed feelings about Keel: there is a lot they can improve, but actually we had a really nice evening. The best part is that we were the only table on a lovely patio, inches from the beach with a clear view out to the lights of Cozumel. We went hoping for seafood but found they had a very limited number of options available. Also, they had no wine list (I know it's Playa but none at all!?). The waiter said he had "a Chardonnay" which we had and it was fine. Still, maybe it was the view or that we got lucky having the patio to ourselves, but we really enjoyed the evening. read more

Service was great and attentive. Food was pretty good as well. Music starts playing around 2 pm so just be prepared for that, it gets noisy.

We wanted to have dinner near the beach and Keel came up from a quick google search. The food was great (the fruit sushi was the bomb) and the staff was so friendly! They have lounge chairs set up right on the beach so this would be a nice spot to hang for the day and enjoy food and drinks. I think the place is fairly new so there was no wait for seating. read more
