If you love sandwiches like I love sandwiches, you've got to try Smallgoods!…read more Located in La Jolla, there's plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. Overall, a really walkable area! Walking in, it's clear that their sandwiches are a crowd favorite from all the awards on the walls. Dubbed as "La Jolla's Most Popular," I went with their California Turkey & Cheese. It features a long list of things: California Swiss + SoCal Turkey + Granny Smith Apple + Cucumber + Micro & Mixed Greens + Local Mustard + Smoked Padron Jam + Mayo. I absolutely adore when sandwiches have a splash of fruit or jam in them. It's so underrated! I brought it to the water to enjoy and it made for the perfect beach sandwich. Light, flavorful, and filling- I was the envy of every seagull with this beaut haha. I will be returning to try their long menu of what sounds like incredible combos all around!

It was our first stop on a mystery picnic experience. We had our to go order waiting for us, it was a fantastic Charcuterie board. It had cheeses, meats, fruits, and it was delicious. The ingredients were high quality. It is small and cozy inside, and outside they have a few tables with umbrellas and a rocking bench.

Whenever i go to SF, i have to stop here before to pick up candy for the best kids in the world!…read more i get to see their sweet faces tomorrow and they're gonna be so excited with all this candy! Even tho i don't eat candy myself, I know my favorite kids love it so i make an exception. The shop itself is a decent size but the types of candy that have is what makes it really special. ALL kinds of old school candy that they wouldn't have an easy time finding on their own. The people that work here are so helpful and accommodating and they really go above and beyond to make sure you can find what you're looking for. Super cute place. I just spent way too much on candy--and if my friend knew i spent this much on candy, she'd prob not be happy. oh well..kids will be so happy tho and that's the most important thing! Def recommend this place if you're into candy of all kinds.

When a customer walks in the store, an employee should ALWAYS greet them with "hello, how's it…read moregoin?" unless there's a reason to not do so. But my buddies and I walked in for a treat, in which the candy we got was really freakin good, and these two ladies behind the counter looked right at us without any expression and it was the weirdest interaction I had felt in forever where I just politely stated "hello! How's it goin?...." TRUST ME, IM NOT A "KAREN." But the little things matter girls. It's a general principle of customer service, and living life. Examples: "Hey, how are you?" "Looking for anything in particular?" What's the point of working here if you can't take initiative by interacting with EVERYONE. When I asked about the fudge, the little lady seemed so unenthusiastic about it, I assumed it probably wasn't as good as it looked but I'm probably wrong. I hope they're okay tho, I'm not sure what they're goin thru. Great looking candy shop though, and wide selection to choose from. I rate businesses based on the customer service experience their employees provide.

"Lovely ladies with almond eyes Dressed in silk and laces…read moreTwilight falls and the shadows move Silently in secret places" (Doobie Brothers) Hopkins AG goes way back to the early 1900's and has successfully transformed the company from a small family farming operation into a large almond producer. How large you say? How about owning and managing over 3,000 acres of almonds in California's Southern San Joaquin Valley and running a 2500-square-foot San Diego commercial kitchen and manufacturing facility. They sell eight varieties of roasted almonds, shelled and unshelled raw almonds, three kinds of almond butters (including Mexican Chocolate!!), and gift packages. We ran into their booth at the Carlsbad Farmer's Market and saw their big variety of flavored roasted almonds. After a few samples, we scooped up a bag of Mexican Chocolate Supreme and a bag of Honey Vanilla almonds. The Mexican Chocolate almonds were roasted and dusted with cocoa, nutmeg, cane sugar, and raw honey. They were so good! The Honey Vanilla almonds were roasted with vanilla extract, cane sugar, and raw honey, and I give them a slight edge as my favorite of the two. The delicate, sweet, vanilla flavor was fantastic. All of their products are made fresh with no preservatives, and I can tell ya that their almonds are excelllent.

On Sunday, February 15th, I visited your booth at the Leucadia/Encinitas farmers market to buy fresh roasted almonds and almond butter. While I was waiting in line, the vendor dropped the scoop cup onto the grass, an area where dogs walk and urinate and where many people step. I politely asked if she could use a different scoop, but she said she didn't have another one and didn't offer any solution. When I asked if she was really planning to continue using the same cup after it had fallen on the ground, she said yes and mentioned she had attended food safety school. I was honestly shocked, as it's hard to imagine any food safety training approving that practice. What concerned me most was that she didn't seem to recognize that this was unsanitary or an issue at all. I did purchase almond butter, but I chose not to get the fresh almonds because I wasn't comfortable with them being scooped using a cup that had fallen on the ground. This was disappointing and concerning, and I hope this feedback encourages better sanitation practices moving forward so customers can feel confident about food handling.
