This place is my favorite sushi place in northern Nevada. All you can eat sushi is a killer deal. The rooster roll and Nevada roll are my favorite. I had a pretty decent experience here. I had come with my family. We were in pajamas because we just got done riding the polar express train. Everyone inside was giving us rude looks. It got so irritating I yelled, "yea we're in pajamas! Get over it!" Nobody looked out direction again haha. Anyway, the server was really awesome. He was prompt at refilling the drinks and our food came out pretty fast. There were some rolls I wasn't a fan of, but for the most part the sushi was good. I really liked the miso soup. I'm a huge sucker for miso soup when they put lots of tofu in it. All in all, it was pretty good. I was upset about how we were initially treated, even by the staff when we walked in. Ordered 12 piece sashimi with fresh, thick slices of tuna, salmon and yellowtail fish presented with cucumbers, grated carrots and seaweed salad. Flavorful and light. Also had double rainbow roll with chunks of fish inside and slices on top. Service is attentive but not overwhelming. Had reservation for 5:15 for 2 people. Instead they seated 2 other parties that had reservations for 5:30. We checked in at 5:05 and at 5:15 sat those parties mentioned. When asked about the reason they sat the others before the girl would only say the tables were available for them. I told them it made no sense to seat someone that was before the reservation time and not seat the ones at their reservation time. I have been a loyal customer for years and won't return. My wife literally called 190 times to make the reservation for this to happen. I have called also in the past and can't get through. A hidden gem in Carson City! I met a friend here for AYCE lunch and I was super impressed. There's no shortage of sushi in Reno and Carson City, but this one stands out to me! They have a huge variety of rolls, cooked and raw, great baked mussels, and fresh, interesting ingredients. We started with the Dragon Rolls - which are like jalapeno poppers filled with shrimp, krab, and cream cheese, sliced like a sushi roll, then topped with spicy crab. Yum! What a fun way to start the meal! I followed up with a random variety of cooked and raw - a Jason hand roll (common in a lot of sushi places, and it didn't disappoint), Kei tuna nigiri, and a few long rolls. The sushi chef was friendly and attentive, as was our waitress - keeping our waters full and our places clear of plates. Tried calling on 2 separate occasions just to hear a disconnected phone sound. How tf you supposed to make a reservation?

So this was our second option because our first option was closed for remodeling. We arrived and were seated right away. It took a little before someone came for our drink order. It was quite cold inside the restaurant and it was 42°F outside. We ordered. Things were slightly higher priced for what you got. You're restricted as to what you can order during lunch. There is a one hour limit and a lot of the rolls on the back side of the menu are only served at dinner time. I haven't seen a Japanese restaurant not serve tempura, but they serve fried rice for $8.00. The rice for the sushi was undercooked and still hard in the center. They want you to eat all the rice or they may charge you extra. Some of the crystal shrimp was overcooked and hard. It was disappointing driving 35-40 minutes to get mediocre sushi. Service was a bit slow even though only three tables were filled. I wouldn't come back. read more

My friend took me here last night and we sat at the sushi bar. We ate so many different rolls that I can't recall the names of all of them. All of them were delicious tho. I have to say my favorite was the Kei roll. What I liked about the rolls here is that they aren't made with tons of rice, the rolls are cut thin where you can actually fit then in your mouth and they all had a good flavor. The Kei roll is a bit sweet but they put sarracha to balance it out. It was cool to try a bunch of different rolls and some favorites. The ayce option is the same price compared to the Bay Area. I would recommend trying this place out for sure. The staff were all very nice and checked up on us continuously making sure we didn't need refills, removing plates, etc. read more

I like long rolls that are deep-fried and laden with succulent mayo based sauces. My wife and father-in-law eat sashimi. Everyone left happy after AYCE lunch. Yelp lead us here and were so happy we came! Really enjoyed all you can eat sushi (for $27 I think) at the sushi bar. You wouldn't expect to find fresh, inventive sushi in an ambient setting anywhere in Carson City but this place proves you wrong. This restaurant with great service has been here 2 years and is very clean, nicely decorated, and it translates to their beautifully decorated, creative sushi. Elias was an awesome chef who added his own special touch to the amazing, flavorful rolls and other items we had. The tilapia ceviche tostadas were memorable. We came in on a busy Friday night, very hungry. We were given a side table and kind of forgotten about, though we got many, many refills on drinks. Oddly though, when the waiter finally got to us, with the most gracious of possible interfacing with our table, we absolutely couldn't fault him (he said the table was told to him that another waiter would pick it up). But after that, the kitchen didn't get to our order. At that time, we almost stepped up from our table and left. We felt so hungry as other tables kept getting food, even seconds. Eventually, our food came and was so good. I had a bunch of delicious sashimi including scallop and some other really tender soft ones, and tuna rolls and very nice salad type rolls called "Garden Rolls." I really recommend all the sashimi and skip the rolls, read on to find out why. Also, a lot of extras came our way that I kept asking to be put on the menu. I'm not sure they we were charged for them. The bill wasn't as high as we thought and we left pretty full. My only complaint was about the service, I almost think a place like Kei Sushi should have a larger dining room and more staff. I thought there seemed to be more bussers than servers, which may be something they'll look into. My only serious complaint about the food is that the sticky rice seemed a little too wet. So a lot of the rolls, especially the ones with the rice on the outside, sort of collapsed sloppily. P.S. I am a coeliac so I am very wary of going anywhere and drag my feet before going anywhere I do not control, but they were very knowledgeable about their menu items and helped me avoid contamination. I can only have 20 parts per million or less gluten or my blood tests go haywire. I know I did not get sick here. read more

Great sushi. They just recently changed their menu and I highly recommend a Fuji Mountain, Rooster Salmon, mussels, and Salmon Skin. I have actually been their three times since they changed their menu in the six weeks. The sushi bar is always full and we do sit at a table for all-you-can-eat (AYCE) and the prices are reasonable for lunch. I work in Carson City and only go their for lunch at Carson City but live in Reno so it is a 30 minute drive to go to dinner. One of these days I will have to visit for dinner since they have an extensive dinner menu as well.
