So I've been to several of the Keke's locations in Orlando and had high hopes for our new location. After I saw all the negative reviews, I'll admit I was a little nervous. BUTTTT, maybe they didn't order the right thing and I guarantee they sure didn't have our server Vicki! We had a great experience overall! Hubs had the pecan banana pancakes, the stack of 3 is ENORMOUS! Picture larger than your face sized pancakes and you've got it right! The flavor was amazing but the amount of banana was underwhelming for my liking, however he was pleased. I had the apple cinnamon stuffed French toast. It was so so delicious, but sad to say a bit over priced for what you get, in my opinion! Our server Vicki was fantastic! She was so outgoing and friendly, and proactive! No longer going to this place. The service is good but the kitchen can't fry an egg. My potatoes were ice cold and my egg sandwich was mediocre. When I told the sever the potatoes were cold, it was almost like he expected this. He said I'll tell My manager. Nothing else beyond that took place lol. I actually just downloaded Yelp so I can let this company know exactly how horrible our experience with them was. We arrived at around 1:10pm and were seated right away. Our server came and we got our drinks. She came back at around 1:25pm and we ordered our food. We decided to walk out of there at 2:04pm as we had not seen our server or our food yet. Keke's Breakfast Cafe is the latest restaurant to open up in the first phase of The Pavilion at Durbin Creek in the Saint John's area. The first phase will house a multi-tenant shopping area. Once completed, it will rival the big, local Jacksonville shopping areas like the Town Center. Keke's, another Brunch addition within the Mandarin/Bartram area. This had me really excited. Cool simple exterior and interior. Friendly accommodating staff. We ordered the following: Waffle Combo with Bacon and Eggs (3/5): For $11.98, it was okay; waffle was hard. Turkey Club (5/5): Generous portions of meat on this sandwich. I think my sandwich was about 2.5 inches high. I had to retract my jaw like a snake as I ate this sandwich. Blueberry Waffle (2/5): We were expecting a waffle with blueberries in it, ahem "blueberry waffle". That didn't happened. Silver Dollar Pancakes (3/5): It looked more like Silver Quarter pancakes, because the pancakes were very small, and for $3.99, I wish it would have came with more. Verdict: Food and taste wise, hmmm... I'm just not a fan. The food tasted average for me and fam. The food items seems overpriced in my opinion. And, to compare, it seems you'll get a better value and more portions choosing their Lunch items vs that of Breakfast. Lastly, I want to give some Rock Star kudos to our waitress, Ashley P. Granted, we were a party of 11, but the waitress could've came every so often to let us know what the status of food was. Besides that, we had 3 kids and their food should've came out first and I swear they forgot one of the kids plates because they brought hers dead last. We got there 7:30 am for breakfast. Turkey bacon was horrible and sent back. Regular bacon was 80% rubbery fat grizzle. The men's room was an absolute horror show, and considering it was 7:30 in the morning I can only assume it wasn't made that way this morning which means it's been like since yesterday. It was a first visit to Keke's in the competitive Northeast FL breakfast/lunch market. This location is in Saint Johns; a clean suburb of Jacksonville in Saint Johns County. The restaurant was clean inside and larger than expected. The tables are all booths with high backs for a nice amount of privacy. There are clear plastic extensions on the tops of the booths for added health/safety (I guess?). We arrived just before noon despite my best efforts to always avoid the meal "rush hour". The hostess was neither warm nor friendly and our wait was a solid 20 minutes. Muzak/elevator music played softly in the background. Upon being seated in a clean booth we were fairly quickly greeted by the server. She was pleasant and clean; we immediately ordered. The meal took longer than expected to arrive, probably 20 minutes. The cold beverages are served in nice, heavy, large glasses with bona fide straws. Oddly, despite being a largely breakfast establishment the coffee mugs are unusually small. We did receive coffee top offs, cream and sugar. The coffee flavor was unremarkable being neither bold nor weak. The ceiling was high with stylish black ceiling tiles and the interior temperature was comfortable. There is ample free surface parking. Nearby is a Home Depot, large Walmart, Gate gas station, movie theater and variety of stores. I ordered the Eggs Benedict which were unremarkable. The dish presented well and was of average size. However, there was no real flavor and the Hollandaise sauce didn't have the slight undertone of lemon and butter which is expected. I chose the side of home fries which were simply very thinly sliced small potatoes; unremarkable with no spice at all. There was one orange slice on the side as garnish. My wife ordered the Bacon, Tomato Cheddar omelet which was average. In finality, I might return to try a lunch item. Maybe. For better flavors & coffee, friendlier staff and larger portions I would opt for Metro Diner or Maple Street Biscuit Co. read more

Sat there for 15 minutes and nobody came to even bring us water. The place was dead and there were five servers. Two saw us and still didn't say anything. We have a two year old with us btw. The service, the overall experience in a word, Terrible. Food was cold when it arrived at the table. Had a cup of coffee I couldn't get refilled not even once while eating my breakfast and at $4 a cup mind you. (Didn't realize I went to Starbucks.) This lack of service was likely because my server or any server couldn't be found to ask for a refill until the check was dropped back off. A total of 5 tables had guests including myself. To top it all off one of the servers was training a new person that day and was telling them that this restaurant would be closed within the year. I would have to agree with the servers words. From lack of customers at lunch time, to the lack of service, to the lack of commitment to the guest who came for meal at the restaurant. To anyone who reads this in full, SAVE your money. Keke's food is always phenomenal, and if you haven't been you should absolutely go. But the reason for the review, and why I'm writing it while still at the table, is because of our incredible server, Evelyn! She went out of her way to seat us when she noticed we hadn't been helped by the hostess yet (not her fault, she was taking care of another party that walked in right before us) and sat us. We ended up being in her section and she went out of her way repeatedly to make sure we were taken care of. She has an incredibly warm personality and went above and beyond to bring us to go drinks without us needing to ask. Evelyn's care and attention to detail did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Well, I've wanted to try this place since it opened because it's so close to my home and today was the day. So, my thoughts...boring. Let me say that there is nothing wrong with this place, but it's completely forgettable in every way way possible. First off, it's very clean and the staff were super friendly. The restaurant itself is large and comfortable too. As far as the food I was not impressed. My wife got a breakfast combo with a huge pancake and scrambled eggs and bacon. She enjoyed her meal, and I tried a slice of bacon and a bite of her pancake and I agreed that they were tasty. My meal however was so boring and lacking any textural contrast and seasoning too. I had Eggs Benedict, my favorite breakfast meal and something that I truly love and enjoy. The cardinal sin for anything with a poached egg is an improperly cooked poached egg. These were not hard in the middle, but they were certainly over where I prefer them. The lack of runny yolk mixing with the hollandaise made the entire dish so dry. Add to that the "home fries" that were basically just sliced potatoes cooked on a griddle wIth a bit of pepper made the entire dish just a dry mush. I had to use extra Tabasco and ketchup and then still needed extra hollandaise to make it decent. Man, it was disappointing as heck. I dipped my finger in the extra cup of hollandaise and realized that it had almost no flavor. It had paprika sprinkled on top, which is pretty but brings little to no flavor to the party. For a place that is supposed to specialize in breakfast food, they really didn't seem to know how to do a breakfast staple. In summation, I can say that my wife got the better meal by far, and if we ever come back here I'm certainly not getting the Eggs Benedict again. My suggestions for this place: please season your food better and please don't overcook the poached eggs. read more

First time finally trying Keke's Breakfast Cafe at Durbin Pavilion. I have friends who live in Orlando rave about this being one of their favorite breakfast spots. We actually tried coming a few days after it opened and it was so packed and always over a 45 minute wait. We finally had the chance to try it again and it was much slower and we were seated right away. Although it was picking up as we were leaving. Our waitress Lauren was very sweet and attentive. I ordered the breakfast wrap with fruit and my boyfriend got the veggie omelette with hash browns and fruit. Food did not take very long to get to the table. Maybe 10ish minutes. Food was hot and tasty. I think my favorite thing was the fresh fruit. Unlike other places that serve mostly melon, their fruit bowl was made up of strawberries, blueberries, banana slices and oranges. I was very pleased with this! All items are mostly under $10 and it is a good portion. We dined around 9:30am and didn't eat until dinner time because we were so stuffed. As a whole - KeKe's has been one of my favorite places for breakfast for many year after I went to one in Orlando. It disheartens me to not be able to have the same quality here in their newest location. Service was Great and the staff very friendly. That's where the experience stopped being enjoyable. Ordered the Fajita Chicken Omelette - Greasy is not enough to describe it. I believe it would've been less greasy had it been deep fried. Speaking of Deep fried - WHO in their right mind Deep fries Bacon!? I get it - it's quick - but when it comes to cooking Bacon, if a guest asked for Crispy, put it on the dang grill for a minute or two so the grease doesn't go straight from the firer onto the plate. To be fair I haven't had food from McDonald's in about 10 years, so I might be underestimating their food. I had the eggs Benedict and everything in it except the eggs was pretty bad. The "house fries" weren't fries, but chopped red potatoes that weren't even fully cooked. It was as though someone cut a red potato, threw it in a greasy pan for a minute and called it good. I am very disappointed in the front house staff of this restaurant. We were treated like an inconvenience from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was not busy. We were seated right away, so that wasn't the issue. The hostess seemed to have a blank stare on her face. She never said a word to us. I looked at her and said there are 2 of us. She then said follow me and walk us to the booth. She never said a word to us after, "follow me". We were never told who our server would be. Another server came by some time later and said, " I will get your drinks for you". The was awesome,except we had not ordered any drinks, nor did she ask us what we wanted to drink. She just stood there. We finally told her what we wanted. When she returned she placed the drinks and the plated silverware down on the table and just walked away. Our server finally came to the table. She never told us her name. She asked if we needed a few more minutes and we said no, we are ready to order. She also was very put off and not engaged. Just did not seem to care either way. The staff that brought the food out was very nice. They were smiling and they said, "enjoy your meal" Over all I think this was a bad experience. Like many others have complained, we were sat and had to flag someone for service as other serves walked by us making eye contact without drinks on the table. In this heat, it's hard to ride the Harley unless you're out really early! Sunday morning I managed to drag myself out of bed and we rode around some of our favorite areas. Daniel remembered there is a Kekes at the new St John's shopping area and BAM! There we were! It was about a 15 minute wait to be seated. Which wasn't too bad, considering the outdoor park-like setting right next to Kekes! (See my pics). There are many tables and (comfortable) chairs as well as a unique wall of water waterfall! It wasn't too loud and added a sense of peacefulness and calm despite the traffic! You could see cars, but you couldn't hear them. Kekes texted us when our table was ready. I had not seen this before - no paper menus! There is a code to scan in the middle of the table and the menu shows up on your phone! Great for our current Covid state though. We had a very attentive server. The only hiccup turned out to be a bonus in disguise lol...I ordered the Pancake combo with scrambled eggs and sausage. What arrived at our table was home fries instead of eggs. That was quickly rectified and I got to try the home fries-free! Now let me tell you...these aren't just any pancakes!!! This was the biggest, bestest, blueberry-ist Pancake I have ever eaten! It was HUGE and full of blueberries. Not only that, but it was just crispy enough on the edges and so very warm and soft and fluffy inside. I did not even need syrup. It was that good! Daniel chose the Apple Cinnamon French Toast combo with eggs over easy and bacon. The Pancake or French Toast combos include one piece of either. The pancake was equivalent to about 3 very large pancakes anywhere else. The French Toast was a normal size bread, what you'd expect. My 4 small sausage links were very tasty. Daniel's bacon was average for most breakfast places. His French Toast was very good, but nothing to write home about. I highly recommend the pancakes! I could eat here every week, just for the pancakes. The coffee mugs were a little awkward...the shape was not comducive to drinking. Still I managed to scarf it down lol. Pretty good for restaurant coffee, and fairly hot. I do love a good booth and will choose that over a table & chairs any day. Keke's booths had high backs - so high in fact that we could not see or hear the diners in booths on either side of us because of the high backs. This created a cozy atmosphere. It appears that a plexiglass piece had also been added to the top of each booth as an additional safety measure due to Covid. The background music being piped in was pleasant and not too loud! We could hear each other talk. Yay! Keke's reminds me of an upscale Village Inn, if you remember those! They only serve breakfast and lunch. Lunch starts at 10:30 but breakfast is all day. The next time you're feeling brunchy, head to Keke's! We also visited the other location at the Towncenter last year, and it was just as good. You should go! read more
