Was there at 12pm for lunch with a friend and we sat at the bar. Had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with a Diet Coke. The chicken was grilled to perfection with the perfect amount of char, leaving the meat moist and delicious. The bun was toasted perfectly, making it crispy without drying it out. Comes with fresh slices of tomatoes, pickles and onions. The toppings were fresh and reminded me of something freshly picked from my garden at home. The french fries were delicious; the outside was crunchy with the inside being moist. The portion size of french fries, sandwich toppings and chicken were generous. The bartender was very friendly and the services was great. He greeted everyone with a smile when they came in and came by tentatively to see if we needed anything. Most of the places were closed for the holiday, so we ended up here. Was a little skeptical, because we were looking for a nice sit down restaurant. All skepticism left once I started eating my bacon cheeseburger, it was one of the best I have had in a long time! Perfect flavor and the bacon was crisp. On top of that, their wings were amazing. I came here to celebrate Kelly's 75th birthday along with some other Yelpers. While I wasn't there for nearly as long as some other Yelpers, I still dutifully drank my way through some $ .75 beers. I think the Yelping ground has been pretty well covered here so I will just add my two cents to everyone else's more in-depth reviews. I agree with a couple of other reviewers that call this a place a dive bar or pseudo-dive bar. It is not the cleanest and most up to date bar, the bartenders are not the nicest or most capable (usually), and the music is generally way too loud (as is the crowd), and the place usually feels (and is) way too small, but the drinks and food are cheap and it is one of the closest and easiest to get to bars to DePaul University. In conclusion, it is what it is ;)...You know what you are getting, and as long as it continues to have decent prices for drinks and food it should remain relatively popular. I recommend this place if you are in the area. read more

was doing a little day drinking here over the weekend between depaul softball games and the rain delays. was in here with 2 friends and we were the only ones here for a few hours but the bar quickly got packed. ordered the combo sampler platter twice in the duration i was there in between a few car bombs (fat i know). very tasty for pub food - mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and onion rings....mmmmmm. also had some wings - their buffalo wings are surprisingly good. read more

YIKES - was I really at the same place as all the other reviewers?? I went here a night after class (grad student at DePaul) and was not pleased. It wasn't too packed, which happens a lot at the bars in the area, so that was nice. But I felt like it was pulling teeth to get some decent service. I asked one of the 2 bartenders a question about their beer and he let out a big sigh before answering. My father owned a bar for 25 years, 10 of which I worked part-time there, and if I had acted the way these bartenders had - we would've had no repeat business. I don't care if I am not a 'regular' - in fact if I am not you should try to get me to be one - these guys didn't care. I will say this - I had a taco that was pretty good - really greasy, but tasty. So one star for being unpacked, and one for the taco. Not enough for me to go back. read more

I love this place - I happened upon it when I was waiting to get my hair cut around the corner. It is a classic, no-frills Irish bar with a mix of students and older 'regulars.' Plenty of TVs and I've never seen it exceptionally crowded. All of the bartenders are always super cool and nice. read more

This was my FAVORITE bar while attending DePaul. People are always laid back, fun atmosphere, good prices.. etc. Bartenders are nice and always efficient. I always went for wing night and for a BLT.. fries are awesome too :). Drinks are cheap... and I know they used to have gumball... 2 dollar drafts on Tuesdays. I've been going to Kelly's for about two years now and made friends with the bouncer and many bartenders (Dustin is the best), and always loved it and have never had any complaints or problems. Within the past few months they've hired an older woman to be the bouncer, who seemed rough but nice when I first came in but progressively throughout the night she got very aggressive towards everyone and at one point called me a "skank ass"! Of course I was completely offended and embarrassed and I went up to the bartender and told him what happened, he grabbed my hand and apologized, told me he wished he could do something and then said that I am not the first woman she has "verbally harassed". I'm completely appalled and disappointed, needless to say I unfortunately will not be back until this lady is fired. read more

Went here in desperation to watch a football game, and was very pleased to find that not only was the drinks were reasonable for the neighborhood, but the food was cheap and delicious. Try the nachos or the burgers on pretzel buns, as good as bar food as you can find. Plenty of tvs for sports and all of them HD capable, but with standard definition. Also doesn't accept debit cards, even though they take credit cards. Those were the only problems. Other than some minor set backs, a great bar. read more

Gotta love Kelly's! This was my old hangout while going to DePaul and it's a great place to go any day of the week and enjoy some really cheap specials with friends and put a few tunes on the jukebox. It's a pretty narrow bar with some history, so sometimes it's a little uncomfortable when crowded, but when the weather is good you can't beat sitting on the outdoor patio while the Red Line goes by every few minutes. There was even a movie in the 80's with Demi Moore and Jim Belushi called About Last Night where they enjoyed the Kelly's patio. If you're looking for upscale, this isn't for you, but for a cheap, low key night out Kelly's is a great time and the atmosphere that dates back almost to prohibition makes it one of the more unique neighborhood/college bars in the city. Thursday nights for the bomber special is the best time to go! read more

We go here a lot after class and I have to admit, they have great specials. It's a pretty typical bar or pseudo dive bar. The staff is not overly friendly or attentive and the music is usually too loud, but it's a small price to pay for such good specials. If you're only really in it for the beer (which is usually the case), this place is worth it. read more

Where should I get started on this Lincoln Park-DePaul staple? First, this is a dive Irish pub. A fine place to meet a friend, get drinks with a group of friends, or stop-by to engage in banter with the bartender or other patrons. The specials: Some of the best in Lincoln Park. Monday $1 Tacos, Tuesday $1 Burgers, Wednesday $.25 wings. Usually a laid-back vibe and when the jukebox is playing its always good music. DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR!!!!! If I could give this place negative stars, I would. TERRIBLE service, RUDE bartenders, UNDERSTAFFED and the place was DISGUSTING. I went to Kelly's Pub because of a Groupon and because I'm not tall, white and blonde, I waited 50 minutes to get served. I was only able to get served because the tall blonde next to me who was getting drinks told the bartender that I've been waiting. The couple that was standing in front of me had been waiting for 30 minutes, ordered twice and never got their drinks. They left without ever getting their drinks. He rolled his eyes and asked me, "What do you want?" I ordered. My groupon had expired 2 days ago and I was under the impression that they would honor the amount that I paid- which was $15. They gave me an extremely hard time about it- how I "should have been smart enough to have checked the expiration date first." I told them the bottom print says that the merchant will "allow you to redeem the Voucher to purchase other goods or services from the merchant for up to the amount you paid ($15) for the Voucher." The 2 bartenders wouldn't even look at the print- lazy and rude. They kept saying how it was between me and Groupon and I need to take it up with Groupon. "Call 'em up!!" They yelled- it was 12:30am. Ofcourse they didn't honor it. I gave them a credit card. The bartender said, "You'll have to buy another beer if you want to use a credit card." Not only that, while I was trying to decide how to pay for the drinks he said, "well, the drinks aren't getting any colder, what are you gonna do, huh?" I have never been treated so rudely in my life. Subsequently, I complained to Groupon about my experience and Groupon gave me a full refund, plus an extra $5 credit for my horrible experience. Groupon rocks, but poor choice in offering consumers a terrible place. read more

A DePaul classic... they let just about anybody in here. Monday nights, this place is hopping. Wednesday nights? They have a wing special that draws quite a crowd. Thursday nights are pretty popular too. Friday and Saturday nights are pretty hit or miss. Some nights there is a good crew and other nights it's dead, which is good if you want a chill weekend night out for cheap. The bartenders are pretty friendly, as are the people that work the door. They do play music in here but it isn't so loud that you can't hear the person talking to you that is sitting right next to you. There is a mixed crowd, mostly age. The older folks come here for dinner and to watch the game while the youngins come later on at night to gather. They don't take debit cards anymore, they do have an ATM on site to use if you are in a pinch. The atmosphere is no frils yet comfortable and a great neighborhood spot. The patio is also quite nice in the summer but the EL thundering overhead can be thundering and annoying. read more

My first yelp review and it's not a good one. Im really not a harsh critic, but in this case, yeah. So I heard about this place through a buddy of mine. He told me they had a great wings special every Wednesday. Wings being the ONLY reason we went there. First time i went, I didnt care much, I have sympathy for new bars but I did get a weird vibe from the staff and the overall atmosphere. Third time going there is where I got a bit pissed off. The wanna be tough guy at the door(I know you're the security guy, but relax dude. The place is crawling with underage kids anyway) seems to want to study my ID everytime I'm there. The bartenders are horrible. I cant even get a glass of water with my wings without getting an attitude. It's just water. Chill out. Service takes forever, and I understand this was mostly because of the Blackhawks games, but even when they werent busy, ridiculously sloooow. Most of all, the security guy at the door just seems to hate everyone. Im your CUSTOMER. Dont work there if you cant properly associate yourself with people. I came in Wed. asking to sit at the outside patio. He tells me its not set up due to rain, BUT, hell set one up for me. 5 mins later, nothing happens, because the dude is busy talking to some chick who randomly came in to buy a red bull. I go over, ask if we're good for the table, he looks at me like I'm interrupting something important going on there, tell me, "The table is already there, buddy". Well, alright captain obvious, how was I suppose to know that when you didn't inform me by doing your job and attending to your customers. I stopped in to avoid the snow and scout for a future date spot, I only grabbed a beer. Not the most welcoming atmosphere...I was their only customer.
