I had a different HVAC installer put in a dual fuel system (gas furnace with heat pump). Unfortunately, that installer must not have the appropriate training or expertise and wasn't able to properly setup the system. I called to make an appointment. Hi Yelp Friends, So...my super old AC unit of 20+ years stopped working recently. It would come on, but no cold air. I thought, "Great! Now I got to find someone trustworthy, who won't try to up sell me first chance they get." So, I called a few places and the first HVAC company that came out, did exactly that! Nice people, but they were quick with the "you gotta replace your unit" options. I told them no thanks. So I started over and decided to call up a buddy to see if he knew anyone that had done some work for him. I figured if my buddy trusted them I'll trust them. That's when I found out about Kendrick Energy Efficient Heating and Air. I called them up (spoke to Jordan Kendrick) and told him that I need someone to fix my existing system and he said, "OK, I'll take a look." Jordan was great! Right off the bat, you can see he is professional but down-to-earth, and very knowledgeable. When he got to my place, he went right to work. Waiting for his diagnosis, I was anticipating he was going to come back with the same "doom and gloom" like the other guys. But, instead he told me that it was a leak and that he could recharge it. Now, he was fair and transparent with the information. He said he didn't know where the leak was, but that it was likely very small and the (for lack of a better description) "fix-a-flat" type of leak stop would most likely fix it. He also said that he would introduce a dye so that if it leaked again he would be able to find the leak if there was a next time. The cost to do that was significantly, significantly cheaper than buying a new system. In addition to the great service, Jordan impressed me with all the pictures he took of the work he did. Instead, of telling me what he did, he showed me what he did. I asked him if he did that on all his jobs and he said yes because he wants his clients to see what he sees. That kind of transparency is amazing and smart if you want to builds trust. The Kendrick team responded to the call regarding our AC unit failure late on Friday. Brendon was there is 30 minutes and immediately went to work identifying the problem. It turned out to be a burnt-out circuit breaker and he replaced it with one from his truck. I want to cry (tears of joy). The usual summer heat wave hit Sacramento and my husband and I were dismayed to find that the Fujitsu-split system was not working. We tried to troubleshoot it ourselves to no avail. Talked to our landlord who was immediately sympathetic and called not one, but two repair people to take a look. There was weeks of head scratching and furrowed brows and "I'll get back to you later"...and no solutions. Finally, our landlord called Jerry. I called them in the afternoon and, although they were busy, Jordan came out at 7 that evening and stayed til 9:00. Who does that?? KENDRICK does that! It was so hot outside and yet Jordan came wearing a mask. He was very professional and got right to work at diagnosing my unit. He found that the previous company didn't install the coils correctly along with a few other things they did that wasn't good for my unit. Sacramento Area is having a heatwave and my main AC unit stopped blowing cold air. My house temp was 90+ degrees and I have a 2-week old infant that was bright red from being so hot. I called a bunch of places Friday evening and most were closed or would be available until Monday. Somehow Jordan from Kendrick Heating and Air picked up. He told me he was slammed but I explained my situation and he said he would try and make it work. About 20 minutes later he called and said his dad would be calling me and heading over there soon (family-owned business). His Dad Jerry was at my house about 20 minutes later and stayed for about an hour troubleshooting my issue. He was very knowledgeable and was able to explain a lot of things about my unit to me and performed a temp service that was able to get my system up and running but did show me some of the other issues it had that would need to be resolved in order for my system to run at peak and not use so much energy. Jerry was awesome and had great customer service. Their prices are fair (not cheap, but also not expensive). Knowing full well they could have taken advantage of me given my circumstance they did not. I felt like I had been a customer of theirs for years. Maybe even a family friend! Our AC went out last night and unfortunately we had to take off for vacation early the next day while leaving our dog with a dogsitter at the house. We must have called like 8 different places that either weren't willing or available to send somebody the same day or I chose to disconnect the phone call after what felt like cross examination by the scheduling person that for sure was a third party agency, without being able to learn simply if they can come out of not. Plus I was able to do everything over the phone or online, including reviewing the invoice and making the payment. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Our air conditioner went out in the morning on a day forecast to be over 100F, and I thought we'd have to suffer for a few days until we could get someone out. My friends had to wait 3-4 to get an HVAC technician when their AC went out. So I was extremely surprised and grateful that Jordan said he would squeeze me the same day in because he was going to be in my neighborhood. He texted when he was on his way, arrived when he said he would, and diagnosed the problem in just a few minutes. Turns out a snake AND a lizard had crawled in and blown not just one, but two capacitors. Thankfully, Jordan was able to replace it quickly and at much less cost than I had imagined. He was also very honest - he told us our AC was 28 years old and wouldn't last long, but he didn't try to upsell us into a $10k unit. Our heating unit is old and I was afraid to call someone to come fix it because of what it might cost but after freezing for a week a friend suggested Kendrick Heating and Air so I called them and they came out later that day and worked on into the dark.
