We were recommended to come here for authentic Japanese food, and I'm extremely satisfied with the quality. We ordered the Akayuki ramen, Tokyo roll, and the chicken katsu curry. The homemade noodles were perfection, along with the 15‑hour homemade broth -- so much flavor. The fish quality was amazing, especially considering we're landlocked here in Colorado. The chicken katsu curry had a lot of flavor, and we found out the curry is also homemade. It was accompanied by homemade pickled daikon, which was amazing as well. We also enjoyed the various options for Japanese beers. Additionally, the restaurant ambience was nice, quiet, and decorated with cute Japanese touches. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. Out of the three ramen places I've tried in Denver (one in LoHi, one by Union Station), this has taken first place. Since I don't like soup, I asked my friend what she thought who has eaten with me at those two other places and also agreed. The numbers don't lie What's really setting the food apart for me is the mackerel sashimi I got off the Mouhitotema portion of the menu. Really rich and oily mackerel flavor without being "fishy". Visiting Denver for the first time and had dinner at Yuki shortly after arriving. We started with the yellowtail carpaccio - perfectly spicy, tangy and fresh. We also tried the bluefin tuna, salmon and eel hand rolls, simple but really yummy. I tried the spicy ramen, definitely a good heat, the noodles were bouncy and the broth of rich. I stopped into Yuki Ramen and Taki Sushi last night with some friends to grab some ramen. This was a new ramen menu from my last visit, so I opted for the spicy miso ramen. The broth was rich and flavorful and it had all of my favorite toppings. It could have been spicer. However, I love the noodles they use: not too thin and still have some chew. The other Taki Sushi location has been one of my fav sushi spots I've been to in awhile when I'm looking for your typical sushi roll options. So when I realized Yuki Ramen was connected to it I knew we needed to try. Since it was a nicer day we decided to take our pup with us since they have an outdoor patio. They didn't have the patio set up yet for the season but were kind enough to get a table out there for us. The staff were super friendly and attentive even though we were the only ones eating outside. I got my sushi fix while my husband got his ramen fix. My husband was really pleased with his ramen... the broth was very flavorful and even had the oil running through it which to me means quality broth! Our daughter also loved trying edamame and gyoza there while also snacking on some ramen. I really enjoyed the sushi I order, especially the Ramen Master's sushi, since it's not something you see on the menu often. The standout for me was how attentive the staff was to our 1 year old but also our pup. One of the waitresses came out with a giant handful of crab to give to our pup. The rice, gosh, not sushi rice, ok. But the steam rice alone is so dry and bad quality, warm, and hard to chew and swallow.. I just can't believe paid $46 + tax for a bowl of this thing. I watched an employee cough on my food. I rarely, if ever, write negative reviews, but I don't know what else to do in this case. I've been frequenting this spot for years and it's been my go-to for carry out sushi. They've changed branding more than once in the last couple of years, and every time they do, it gets worse. This spot used to be incredibly reliable, affordable, and easy. Now, my order is never ready on time and I always have to stand around and wait. Today was the final straw. I had already rung the bell for service twice, only to have one employee with a mouth full of food peek around the corner and hold up one finger telling me to wait. I saw another employee packing up an order, and was stunned when I saw her cough directly on it without turning away or attempting to cover her mouth. Then she did it again, coughing directly over the uncovered food. I hoped it wasn't mine, but unfortunately then saw the coughed-on food go into my bag. I was already running late and frankly didn't want to embarrass the employee, so it's my fault for taking the food without saying anything. But in no way is it reasonable for an employee to cough on uncovered food and serve it to customers. Taki is a relative newcomer to the 32nd Street Corridor, inhabiting a building that has not had much luck historically keeping restaurants in business for any significant period of time. One of my buddies turned me on to this place, and I've now had takeout and delivery and have reached the verdict that - for what it is - this place is pretty awesome. In addition to having a fairly extensive selection of sushi options, Taki also offers a solid sampling of vegetarian rolls (the avocado rolls are quite tasty and super affordable; same with the sweet potato rolls) so that my wife can get in on the action and not leave me eating alone. My early go-to has been the sushi plate, which includes 8 pieces of chef-selected sushi (I've had this twice now - nothing "weird" in the mix so far), a small California roll and a side salad for the stellar price of $22.00. While this is not the best sushi I've ever had in my life, the prices aren't perpetratin' otherwise, and I've found the fish to be fresh and delicious both times I've eaten here. Their unagi (simply called "eel sushi" on the menu) is also quite good - these are offered a la carte for $3/each and are a great finishing accompaniment to the sushi plate. Our takeout order was ready in 20 minutes. The counter staff is very friendly and accommodating - when I saw that they offered a Japanese IPA, I had to have it... they were cool about adding that to our order last-minute (and yes: Japanese IPA tastes just how you think it might - although it's an interesting beer to bring back for unsuspecting dinner guests who want to try something a little different). The one downside to takeout is the ever-present parking situation on 32nd Street - if it's a weekend night, you're much better off placing an early order for delivery. Stoked to have Taki in the 'hood to add to our ever-expanding rotation of delivery options. Worth a visit for sushi that is both tasty and affordable. read more
