Wow wow wow!! This gem has been on my list for too long and I wish I would have come here sooner! The steak is AMAZING. I don't say that lightly. This is truly heavenly steak that will grace your palate and make you sing to the gods! We have the pleasure of visiting Kennedy's Cove each year for a holiday party. We look forward to it for months in advance. We've had many of the appetizers - enormous shrimp cocktail, BBQ scallops with perfectly crispy bacon wrapped around them, clams casino, some of the hottest stuffed peppers ever, and fried mozzarella which are our favorites. For dinner, I usually have the surf and turf which comes with a petite filet and large lobster tail. Don't be afraid to order your steak 'blackened' when the server suggests it. It is a spice rub, not a Cajun flavor. My boyfriend gets the rib eye and I'm always jealous that I didn't order it too, but I can't get away from that lobster! Both are served with a giant twice baked potato and a really tasty piece of garlic bread. We would absolutely frequent Kennedy's Cove on a more regular basis if it was closer to our house. read more

I have heard some great things about this place and decided it was time to give it a try. First impression was great! The ambience is amazing. Although I dined alone, it would be a great place to celebrate an anniversary or have a nice date. I would recommend dressing business casual to formal, however, no dress code is necessary. You can sit at the bar or in the dining area. Both areas are small so you will not be overwhelmed with noise or lack of attention. I wouldn't accept any babies or small children here, unless perhaps they are well-behaved and maybe celebrating something special. Additionally, I was greeted and seated by a very kind and upbeat hostess. She checked on me twice while dining and also boxed my left overs. She makes a great introduction to the restaurant. Next, I got to sit where I wanted since I was the first customer of the day! I chose to sit next to a large saltwater fish tank in the wall. My pictures do not do it justice, as it was beautiful and vibrant. The fish appeared very healthy. They were lively and beautiful. My waitress was great. She really came over just the right amount of times to make sure my drinks were refilled and I was doing ok, but not obnoxiously so. She was polite and her nature went along with the ambience of the restaurant. My food was amazing! I started off with a jumbo shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was just the right temperature and delicious. And yes, truly jumbo in size! For my entree, I ordered the pork chops (blackened, medium) with salad and loaded baked potato. It also comes with homemade applesauce, a slice of cantaloupe, and toasted buttered seasoned bread. I could not even come close to finishing my meal because I was so full from my app and salad but I sure ate a lot. You get 2 hearty pork chops and the potato is huge. This is a quaint little restaurant with great food. They were a little busy but we waited at the bar until there was a table. The server came over got our drink order it took a bit to bring them back I'm guessing because they were busy. We started with the calamari (very chewy and flavorless, fresh fried mozzarella (breading was tasty), stuffed banana peppers (had a kick to them), pepper shrimp (spicy and creamy) and shrimp cocktail (huge shrimp). The banana pepper soup was delicious and pipping hot. We all got steaks or fish and we were not disappointing. The steaks were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. The twice baked potato was huge and filled with yummy goodness. It took quite a while for more drinks and the food to come out. We could only eat half the meal we were stuffed. The portions are huge and the food is delicious just be prepared to wait awhile in between courses. We would be back maybe not with as many people, but the food is worth the wait. read more

We went to Kennedy's Cove for restaurant week. They had a very good deal for either strip steak, filet or salmon dinners for $20.19 each. This included soup or salad and potato. For the quality of the food, this was quite a nice deal. I wish I could give 4 1/2 stars. The experience was excellent with the exception of the drink prices at the bar. My wife had a vodka and tonic and I had a beer, it came out to $17. I would have understood if my wife had requested an upgraded vodka, or a more elaborate cocktail, but this was just the well vodka with tonic and it was not large. OK, negative out of the way, the rest was exceptionally positive. We had about a 45 minute wait, which was to be expected during Restaurant week and were seated in a corner booth near the large fish tank. The ambience is classic. Service was outstanding. They did not skimp on wait staff. Our drink orders were taken within a minute or two and we weren't asked to wait to put in our food order if we were ready, which we were. My wife had the blackened strip steak and I had the filet. The salads were small and average. I think it was bagged lettuce and the blue cheese dressing tasted like store-bought, but everything was fresh. However, the star of the show was the main course. My filet was one of the best I had ever eaten. Perfectly medium-rare and extremely tender. The twice-baked potato was also magnificent. I did not order the blackened rub on my filet, I just like salt & pepper on a good steak, but my wife did like the blackened seasoning on her strip steak. The staff was well prepared for the crowd and kept things moving. Job well done for Restaurant Week. We will be back. read more

Charming and cozy ambience. The food is excellent. The wine list is more than adequate and they have a full-service bar with a decent selection. The service deserves both one and five stars at the same time. The wait staff is very attentive, very friendly and very accommodating. The owner himself stops by to make sure everything's going well. When your steaks arrive, the staff asks you to cut into them and tell them if you are pleased with how they are cooked, which I think is wonderful. However... they clearly have a problem in the kitchen, or at least did this evening, such that it took 47 minutes from the time we ordered until the main courses arrived. The drinks and soups came out promptly. Our coffees and drinks and water glasses got refilled regularly but we waited an additional 40 minutes from the time our soups were served until the steaks, salmon and stuffed hot banana peppers arrived. Not sure why. This restaurant disappointingly does not have cream or half-and-half for coffee, and served the coffee with 2% milk. The steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Same with the salmon. The stuffed hot banana peppers were OK, but nothing special. The seafood bisque and steak and vegetable soup were excellent. The baked potatoes and baked sweet potato were large and perfectly done. All entrées are served with perfectly ripe cantaloupe wedges, soup or salad and garlic bread which was long and crisp and flavorful. At $50 a person (not including alcohol), I thought Kennedy's Cove should have cloth napkins and finer flatware. Their dishes and flatware are mixed and matched which is a minor curiosity considering this place is considered a fine dining establishment. By all means, their food meets every criteria of a fine dining establishment. The dishes and flatware need an upgrade. The excellent food and delightful wait staff would be the reason to return to this establishment. read more

I was originally going to give them two stars for the service in three stars stars for the food in five stars for the management. The bottom line is that the server who waited on us I can't remember her name but she said it meant freedoms or free or something in another language it sounded like franchise I'm not sure at any rate she was kind of surly and passive aggressive which is not something I normally noticed or even comment about if you look up my other reviews I don't think I've ever even said that before about anybody. Anyway we ordered the nightly special which was blackened prime rib and it took quite a while to get the food after we did finally get it the black and prime rib turned out to be a ribeye. The ribeye steak was cooked very nicely for being blackened but I didn't want a ribeye and wanted a prime rib. a blackened prime rib which I've had many times before another restaurants when done right is still wiggly and jiggly but with a nice crust on it. This was a very thick dense cut of meat that took some cutting but it wasn't tough by any means like I said for a ribeye and the black and one that was done well. the owner came out and I talked to him about it and he explained that they did it differently and that this wasn't your normal prime rib and that the waiter should have explained that to us which she did not. He came back later on in offered to take half off the bill and I told him that I appreciated that but that wasn't necessary. He did throw in a nice dessert an excellent carrot cake, the stuffed peppers were also extremely good. the double baked sweet potatoes were cold and rather unappetizing my brother ordered tater tots and they were not that good either. I would say overall that the restaurant is definitely worth another try there are obviously tons of people that like the place because it was packed and they don't take reservations. The prices were middle of the road it was $123 for three of us and only one beer in that bunch. Anyway definitely worth another try again it was the manager owner that made all the difference in all this if we had based it just on the waitress this whole thing would have been two or three stars. read more

This is the most solid 4 stars I've ever given to a place and the only reasons it doesn't get the 5 stars is because: 1) Restrooms were not clean and about the size of one found on a small airplane! 2) For the price - I expect the place to be in very good condition - and it wasn't! However, put aside the small and perhaps less then clean bathrooms and the inside needing some lovin - the staff were ALL amazing and friendly, the selection was great, specials sounding fantastic, but I had the 20 oz rib eye and my wife had the ground filet burger! Can I say - OMG - probably shouldn't it's so immature, but hey - I'm a kid at heart. My steak was cooked to absolute perfection and the blackened rub they put on it was incredible. My wife couldn't even eat half of her burger so I had to rescue the rest and put it in a good place - MY STOMACH! I've been to some fancy places in my travels, but this might have been the best rib eye I've ever had and the burger just might be the best burger I've ever eaten! What's even more amazing is the sides that came with it. The seafood bisque was incredibly tasty, the fresh cut steak fries were the best I've ever had and that garlic bread - who does it like that - delicious. And then - the cantaloupe too - come on - it was just "spot on". I read some other reviews about this place and all but one made the place sound great - I hope you look past the restroom and interior design and give this place a try. They now accept credit cards too and I really don't think you will find a better meal anywhere. I feel lucky that our doctor recommended not just the place, but helped us with our selections. However, he made no mention of the super fantastic sugar filled desert we shared. It was perhaps one of the best pieces of peanut butter pie I've had. So - next Tuesday when we return to the area - we will be going back - this time to try a couple other things - especially the amazing carrot cake we've heard about now. Fantastic food and service. We stopped in for their Tuesday night special, two entrees and a bottle of wine for $50. We ordered the NY strip and ahi tuna. You have to get them blackened. I was a little skeptical at first, I'm normally not a fan of blackened, but the waitress explained this was different than the Cajun blackened most people think of. Both entrees were great. They came with your choice of a side, I chose a baked potato and my boyfriend got the twice baked, there was a small up charge for his side, both meals came with soup or salad and a piece of garlic toast. Can't forget dessert. We were pretty full but couldn't resist trying the peanut butter pie. It was awesome. We will definitely be back soon. read more

Valentine's Day. Picture this: Two 16oz Delmonico steaks, medium rare. Soup or salad, with your choice of potatoes, either French fries or baked potato (or pay $2 for loaded baked potatoes with cheese and bacon). And with a bottle of (CHEAP) wine. All for $70. Why not? We got the steaks blackened and medium rare. We should have gotten rare because the medium rare tasted like medium but we were honestly blown by the taste of the blackened steak. The amount of fat on the steak was wonderful and CRISPY (LOVEIT). The garlic bread that came with our meal was long and crispy. There was a small amount of beet purée which tasted pleasant with the potatoes and steak. Our server checked up on us at least 6 times during our stay. She made sure we were satisfied and kept asking if we needed anything, service was honestly one of the best. Extremely attentive, manager even came by to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Hands down Kennedy's Cove is my fav steakhouse in town. Been here two times during restaurant week, both were phenomenal. The blackened steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare). I appreciate that more than anything because recently I was not able to taste a steak that cooked right even at the Buffalo Club (one of the most upscale country clubs in the area). Hand-cut steak fries were perfect and they didnt load you up with a tons of fries like other places, just a few giant ones. I finished my entire dinner (no leftover). That's very rare for a small-portion eater like me. To sum up, if you want a delicious steak with exceptional service in a cozy small local joint (not modern/fancy ambiance), come here! First time checking out this place out. My boyfriend and I were in town visiting. To get straight to the point. We had the shrimp cocktail very large portion & good size. The clams casino were pretty good a little to much breading but still good flavor. The ahi tuna steak was very fresh. The pictures are a combo of two items that we went here in two months! The absolute must try's are the Kennedy cosmo, slab bacon special, banana pepper shrimp, clams casino and the burger! Unfortunately there is no pic of the burger or clams casino as my husband started to devour them the moment they were set down. The first time we went, we ordered steaks, salads, and one app. Everything was pretty good... 4 out of 5 starts at least. But as we were eating, we starting seeing all the apps going to other tables and that when realized we had to make a trip back ASAP for all apps. That was the beat move we could have made! The second trip consisted of again martinis and hay burners, but was followed with the most delicious clams casino, which was minced clams, breadcrumbs and hearty in size. The bacon slab is my new favorite food on earth! We had it both times and it is a must try, don't ask questions, don't make substitutions, just put it in your mouth and thank me later. The pepper shrimp was so awesome also. Totally not what we expected. It's large shrimp in a scampi plate broiled in banana pepper dip, with sides of garlic bread for dipping. Welcome to heaven. I really enjoyed my experience at Kennedy's Cove. Definately a local gem. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, solid drinks and top of the line food. The soup could have used a little more flavor , as well as the twice baked potato. Next time , I will order the potato smothered or loaded! The meat and seafood was incredible. My dad and I came here last night during restaurant week. $20 for an 8oz filet mignon was a no brainer! We got them blackened with twice backed potatoes (I had sweet, my dad had the regular). We came in around 5:30 and the wait was already over an hour long. In these cases I recommend hanging out by the bar since everyone there is waiting for their table. As soon as someone was called we were able to snag their seats and have our dinner right away at the bar with no wait. The filet here is fantastic and melts in your mouth. I also had a cup of their award winning stuffed pepper soup that was gone in a minute! It wasn't too spicy at all (I'm a baby when it comes to hot) and I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Super disappointed by my experience tonight. Stopped in for the burger special after raving to my parents abiut how good they are. We waited for what felt like a long time, and they werent cooked properly, or nearly close to how i ordered it. When we complained, i was corrected by the owner as he pulled out the receipts of when orders were placed, which honestly was just embarassing in front of the ebtire restaurant. Im happy to wait for good food, but these burgers were not coooked well. We also waited 20 minutes for 2 cokes. They were nice enough to dicsount our bill, but my disappointnent really lies in my initial excitement for showing my parents my favorite restaurant. And in the end, the food was not great, the wait wasnt short, and the service was sub par. At the end of the day, we were seated at 615, and werent able to leave until 745....for burgers and soup. *Restaurant week review* We went to Kennedy's with a few friends to make a table of 4. Despite the fact that they think it's cool and makes them unique, I HATE that this very small restaurant with a very small parking lot won't take reservations. Hate hate hate. Minus one half star right there. Annoyed me so much that I decided to start my generally positive review with it, I did. Grr. "No reservations" should be left to beach bars and chain restaurants, not legitimate steak houses. So, that incredible annoyance aside - it was a delicious meal. I had ordered the filet, blackened, along with a twice baked potato (served with a salty house made sour cream) and salad. My steak however wasn't cooked right - I ordered medium rare. The first time, it came well, and the second time, blue (honestly, if it hadn't been my first steak in 15+ years I might have tried it blue, but I was a little timid). Once cooked correctly, everything was really delicious. And do NOT let the cooking mishap change your opinion - not only was it restaurant week, but it was handled so well, I was really impressed. I'm not one to send my food back at all but my dinnermates insisted and I was quite embarrassed, but the waitress and hostess(/co-owner?) were so apologetic and seemed more embarrassed than me. They kept offering me things to make up for it (which were declined but very much appreciated). I get the feeling that it's not often a steak isn't cooked correctly there, and I joked that it had simply made for a humorous re-introduction to the food for me. Everyone else's steak was perfect the first time out. 5 stars for the food, 5 stars for the service, 4 stars for the ambiance, 0 stars for the availability of reservations! The restaurant has an intimate cabin feel. Your meal normally comes with soup/salad and potatoes. I had the seafood bisque which came out first. The soup was creamy and it also came with a pack of crackers. The soup was OK, primarily because I could not tell what the meat was in the soup. I had to add some salt and pepper. I called it mystery seafood. I ordered the stuffed scallops and the loaded potato. The loaded potato was huge. I liked the outside skin of the potato. It was almost crispy. This allowed you to get the meat out of the potato pretty easy. It came with cheese and bacon along with butter and sour cream. It was good. The scallops were cut in half and crab cake filling inserted with some seafood sauce. The sauce tasted like the seafood bisque. It was fine. Since I am staying quite a way from this place, I will not be back. It was not good enough for me to go out of my way. The service was good no issues there. read more

Oh yes, Momma likes her steak. So, you're tired of hearing about it but I moved back to Buffalo from Seattle, having lived in the Seattle area for almost 8 years. Something I loved about Seattle was that you could go to the fanciest restaurant wearing jeans and no one would look down on you. That area has so many rich people on the spectrum that no one thinks twice about how you dress, if you got the cash you got the cash. I digress... My husband hates to get dressed up. I love steak. How do you get a decent steak and not have to get dressed up in Buffalo? You go to Kennedy's Cove. It's kinda a funny place. It totally reminds me of a dive, very 70's decor inside. But then you look at the menu and it's a little pricey for Buffalo. $35 for a 8oz filet is a decent deal, not outrageous and it tastes good. It came with a salad and a baked potato, really not bad at all for $35. Full bar, good beer selection. Okay wine selection. They have a bunch of "homemade" desserts. We had some peanut butter pie, it was meh and not something I'd get again. The steak was not the best filet I've ever had but worth the price and I'd come back here for it. We were very pleased with our meal overall and the service was excellent. So look past the decor on this one, this place is pretty good! read more
