First time here to celebrate our 45th anniversary. A lovely note from the restaurant on our table and a complimentary toast of Prosecco to congratulate us. Excellent, personal service by Vera and fabulous food. My husband had the rib eye and mashed potatoes ( he said both were excellent and I had the salmon with a butter lettuce salad and baked potatoes. It was expensive but really a 5 star restaurant and complimentary cheesecake at the end to cap off our celebration! Very nice addition to Eugene's restaurant scene! Been here a few times and have really enjoyed it! I order beef tartar with chips (I'm gluten free & it's normally served with crostini). The seafood tower is great. Came here as I often do based on Yelp reviews. Haven't had broad experience for dinner in Eugene but this did not disappoint. Nice ambiance! I was alone so sat at the bar. Bartender was friendly and attentive. Not eating red meat at the moment but saw others dining on steaks that looked phenomenal. I had the salmon with a side of mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The potatoes were extra delicious but my favorite thing was the asparagus - the chimichurri sauce, mmm. Though the salmon could use more seasoning but it was still solid. The fresh tomatoes served with it seemed out of place but decorative. Overall, a very enjoyable dinner. read more

She was an absolute delight and immediately turned my opinion around! The food was amazing but the butter cake. THE BUTTER CAKE!!! My husband said "I don't know where this has been my whole life but I don't think I have lived until right now!" He isn't wrong. Everything from apps to finish was just amazing. I loved everything about this place! The atmosphere was so beautiful and Christmasy with an abundance of poinsettias and Christmas music. Our waiter, Andrew, was so attentive and nice and the manager, David, stopped by our table to check on us. Also, Jelani and Savannah checked on us and were so sweet. This is a fine quality steakhouse in Eugene. We were able to get a reservation and they were very nice and accommodating us at a very nice Booth. The food was all around good and the prices are very nice up here in Oregon compared to California. This meal would have been easily double if this was in Orange county. California. Steaks were solid. The starters were nice. The server was efficient. My only knock against them is they don't know how to make a proper Manhattan in a steakhouse martini glass. One of my pet peeves is when a bartender serves a martini or a Manhattan and it's about 3/4 of an inch from the top of the glass. That thing needs to be right to the edge. Almost spilling out. That waiter actually went over and watched the bartender. Make it and it was the proper ratios I guess. But it's still doesn't look good when you serve a glass. That's very expensive and it's about an inch less than it should be. Okay. That's a little nitpicky but this place is good. Give them a try. read more

We had an amazing dinner at Kennedys over the weekend. The staff was so helpful, attentive, and friendly. The food was top notch. Highly recommend getting the steak Kennedy's style, quite honestly one of the best steaks I've had. The Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly, and the Mac and Cheese was delicious. First time seated at bar 10/10 Second time seated a a bar table- Waiter messed up our order but still 9/10 Third time seated in a booth by entrance- Waitress had zero personality. 7/10 Fourth time seated in the back near rest room in cozy little booth for two- Took 40 minutes to get drinks. Took an hour for appetizers... Manager walked by and stared at our empty table at least 6 times but never stopped to problem solve. Waitress offered a free dessert for all the delays-- literally people seated after us had whole courses started while we enjoyed the bread... Once main course arrived we are ate and split. I've been to Kennedy's twice now and absolutely love the ambiance! The establishment is very clean and the aesthetic is beautiful. It really is a transformation from what was previously there and the servers are all nice & welcoming when you walk in. My first experience was at the bar. I started with an extra dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and it was phenomenal! I think it is my favorite one in town. I then ordered the seafood tower, the beef tartare, oysters and the filet mignon. All of the seafood and beef tartare were very tasty! The filet mignon was seasoned well but came out overcooked. I asked for medium rare and it was medium well. They had only been open for a month and a half though so I chalked it up to being new & busy. My second visit was for a girlfriend's birthday dinner. I ordered the same appetizers, in addition to the Kennedy's steak which is a filet with shrimp, dungeness crab and béarnaise sauce. I also ordered the mac and cheese and lobster mashed potatoes as sides. The sides were really yummy and were large portions that can easily be shared. The steak however, again came out VERY overcooked. I ordered medium rare and it was brought out well done. If you're marketing the establishment as a steakhouse, you have to be able to deliver on a steak. We ended with dessert and their beignets and warm butter cake are amazing! Definitely recommend the dessert! There are a lot of things I enjoy about Kennedy's, but I have to give it three stars for overcooking their steak on two separate occasions. read more

Hotel recommended this restaurant, and the food was AMAZING. Great quality steaks, and the lobster mac and cheese was delicious. We made a reservation and were sat immediately. The hostess was super sweet and made us feel very welcome. Our server Savannah however, ruined the experience. While the food was amazing, Savannah came a total of 3 times. We were not offered another round of cocktails, our steak sauce side was never brought to the table, and we were not checked on until we finished the meal. The steak was great, but a little more rare than we would've liked. A simple refire for two minutes would've gotten it perfect IF we would have been checked on. 12 minutes for a refill on a tea .. they also charge per refill, which was alright but surprising and we wish she would have mentioned that. Reaching across us to grab extra silverware without saying excuse me, asking the busser for more water because our server was non existent, no bag with the boxes to go (and we walked there), etc. I'd possibly give it another chance because of the quality of food, but to spend $160 on dinner and have such rude / hostile service really made it difficult to leave happy. I'm still thrilled about our experience here last Monday to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. I love to eat out and do as often as our budget allows. After our first time, I've already decided to give up 5 mediocre experiences to enjoy this place more often. From the moment we walked in and our reservation was confirmed, we felt special! They acknowledged our anniversary verbally, and there was a nice card on our table. Our server, Vera, was the sweetest, had great recommendations, and was attentive. We loved the intimacy of our table/booth! Cam, the director of hospitality, came to our table to make sure our experience was great. He dazzled with friendliness and true concern and rocked a great bowtie. We had a lovely evening Kennedy's! I had a basil gimlet and my husband had the smoked old fashioned. We shared the ahi tuna appetizer, beet salad, New York steak with chimichurri and peppercorn sauces, and Brussels sprouts. The ahi and beet salad were large portions and both were perfectly balanced and dressed. Steak was cooked exactly as we had asked for and served on a scorching hot plate. Most likely you will need to have reservations. We were able to get in because it was a Tuesday and the sat us in the bar area. Made reservations the day before. The bar area is still very nice, just a bit busy with all the servers going back and forth. I had the stuffed chicken breast it was very good, a little on the salty side from the cheese. Others in our party had filet steak, rib eye and Halibut. Everyone loved what they received. We also had sides of grilled asparagus, Brussel sprouts, baked potato and cream corn. They didn't tell us that the side could feed several people, so we each ordered one. The cream corn tasted like can corn and wasn't great, but that was the only thing we had that wasn't really good. When the waiter put our leftovers in boxes he put our friend's food all in one box. Which is fine except the cream corn was runny. The guy had the plastic containers right there and didn't use one. Made no sense to us. But otherwise I would highly recommend this place. Also if it's your birthday you get a free piece of cheesecake or cream brûlée ( I think). But like others have said the butter cake is to die for. We ordered one and shared it. read more

My parents got a rush reservation for my graduation and it was very good. This is a strong four star rating because everything was amazing. The ambiance was so classy, servers were very helpful, and food was sooooo yummy. We had the crab cocktail and shrimp to start and both were good. Our server recommended the shrimp and it didn't disappoint. We also had the beef steak tomato salad which was good, as a non tomato lover. Overall I would say this is good. Ordered filet, baked potato, and had French onion soup. Steak was very good and would rate that 5 stars. Potato was actually pretty small. Decent, nothing too special (but it is a potato). Would give 3 stars. French onion soup was not my favorite. Cheese was kind of just stuck to the bread that was somehow still hard in a hot soup. Made it extremely hard to eat and really only could get the broth...that was ok. 2.5 - 3 stars. Our server and service in general was very good. At the end we did get desert and split butter cake and beignets. The butter cake is the star here and is a five star. Beignets were just okay. Not bad, but warmer would be better. They were almost tough? Would stick to the butter cake. Nice vibe for a nice dinner out. I will return, but I think I know what to order and what to avoid. We came here on a Sunday night with a 7:00 pm reservation. While we were seated immediately we sat for 15 minutes without ever being acknowledged by a server. While the ones that were working passed our table numerous times, none of them ever made eye contact or said they would be right with us. One server came to the table next to ours and put her backside to us while she talked to the two people who had just finished their meals. She never acknowledged us. When we asked if she was our server she said no but begrudgingly took our drink orders any way. No apology, no "I will go get your server". We waited another 15 minutes while she bustled around the restaurant without getting our drinks. After being ignored again, we decided to just leave. We are both patient people and not complainers, but when you go to a high-end steak restaurant you want the service to be as top-notch as the food. This is clearly a restaurant that does not care about service. Other reviewers have commented on the same. That this continues to a be a problem is a sign of poor training, bad management and/or indifference. Ultimately we went across the street to Gordon's Tavern and had a nice streak dinner for less money, served promptly with a smile. And no, this is not a shameless plug for Gordon's. read more

This is seriously the worst "Steak House" that I have encountered anywhere in the world and I have enjoyed restaurants in over 70 countries - this food was barely edible. Despite having a reservation we waited about 45 minutes to be seated and then waited over 30 minutes for our drinks order to arrive and our food selection to be taken. When the food finally arrived, the Halibut was cold and rubbery, the creamed spinach was luke warm and tasteless and the baked potato was old and cold, with more wrinkles in its skin than you might see in a retirement home. The whole meal experience was further "enhanced" by a server coughing through the restaurant without covering their mouth and continuing to be heard when in the kitchen, coughing over the food being prepared. The server should have not been working and should have been sent straight home when they arrived in such a clearly infectious state. Will I give them a second visit - never. read more
