I never had such a severe quality control problem with a cleaner before, and now I request no-starch service elsewhere. It may be a problem with starch or equipment these days, but I have never seen this in my over 40 years of laundry service. I was a loyalist at Kenny's for years! Went there to get my dress that was due from cleaning. They said it wasn't ready yet and to come back. Came back a few days later and they said the dress unfortunately was ruined. I was really upset. They said to call and speak to the owner or come in when he was there. I tried calling and going back but of course he was never there. So bummed as this was my cleaner for so many years and they did absolutely nothing to fix their issue. Do not go here!!! Since the shirt had a light stain, I asked if they could also clean it. The woman told me it would cost $49, which I thought was far too much, so I politely said I wouldn't have it done. Then, in front of everyone, the owner said, "Well, how much money do you think you wasted on her time?" I was absolutely mortified. To be spoken to like that -- and in front of other customers -- was humiliating and completely uncalled for. Everybody spends on Temu, or some other site on things they don't need. Don't get mad you're spending your "screw around money" on something you need. Because that's what it is. We've used Kenny the Kleener a few times in the last year and have been satisfied with their cleaning and prompt service. I recently brought in a king size comforter to be cleaned and asked that it be delivered once it was ready. I was told that they don't offer delivery. I was puzzled. They had cleaned and delivered a comforter only weeks earlier. I explained that, and the clerk called someone else over, who also said that they don't deliver. I reiterated that they had provided delivery just recently and that I didn't understand. I was then told I could write a request for delivery and leave it with the comforter and they would get back to me. I never heard anything and the cleaned comforter was dropped off at my house two days later. So what was the problem? I can only speculate, but I paid full price for the first comforter to be cleaned, and had a 30% off coupon the second time. If they don't want to provide delivery when people use a coupon, the coupon should state that. I was really disappointed that they would refuse a widely advertised service as if I wouldn't notice the difference. read more

Pre-pandemic--the tailor did an excellent job hemming and tailoring. However, I went in there this afternoon (3/25/2022) and was VERY disappointed that the tailor did a horrible job adding one stitch to a down jacket. I thought I could trust him based on previous hemming & tailoring work. Instead he cross stitched them using gray tech thread which was VERY VISIBLE and amateurish. And applied a fixative on it--making it worst. He asked me if I was going to get it cleaned there. I said no because it's machine washable. Maybe, he would have done a better job if I said yes. I already dropped off some sweaters to be dry cleaned. $6 per stitch is expensive for poor work. I'll have to take out the stitch and see if I can do a better job. I tried and the glue seems impossible to remove. (4/3/22) However, I will add that they have always done an excellent job dry cleaning my sweaters, cardigans, dresses, and other fine garments that require extra care. They do it fast--press and hang them neatly. So, I will return and get more sweaters dry cleaned when the winter season is over. read more

Lies! Lies! Lies! They NEVER even bothered to respond to my BBB complaint. There were still a couple dark spots on a couple covers as well as variation of color from one cover to another. My covers have a tinge of yellow, I'm guessing due to whatever cleaning product was used. I've had to pay to replace the covers and trying to see if the ones they messed up are at all salvageable by another service provider. Service is top-notch; the people here are warm and generous.  One time the lady repaired a torn pocket lining gratis while I waited.   I don't dry clean that often, but have been here three times in the last year just for repairs.  The first time I got a little sticker shock, but the craftsmanship was excellent and I learned to ask about cost up front.  Each time I've felt that the price was fair, and now I know that they do reliably solid work. My clothes are ready on time and they look great and smell good too! PLUS, they are really inexpensive compared to most other dry cleaners and their counter people are always super friendly! My family and I were Kenny the Kleener customers ever since we moved to Skokie for almost 15 years now. Although I never liked they were on the Far East side of Skokie I Still went as a loyal customer. However, over the years the customer service has severely declined. The cashiers are rude and although they've seen me for years on a weekly basis they questioned me on the one time I did not have my coupon and did not apply the sale. I understand that if one does not have a coupon that sometimes it can't be honored. However it was how it was handled. I told the cashier that day they lost a customer and I got "k" in response. I took in an Italian long wool women's coat with a belt to be dry cleaned. They lost the belt. I had purchased the coat in Europe so it is impossible to replace the belt. I went twice back to see if they had found the belt as I was instructed that they will be looking to find it. I finally called the owner. The obvious: cheap, fast cleaners. You can drop something off at 5pm to get it at 3pm the next day. That is pretty significant, if you are in a big rush to get stuff cleaned. Overall, they do fine with the cleaning and handle tuxes along with regular clothing. The not-as-obvious: Their tailors can do alright to fix things, but they're just not professionals. I've had a number of things tailored there and suffice to say I do not put Kenny's in consideration for tailoring work going forward. The "how the heck? Ain't nobody got time for that": So sometimes Kenny's can't promise the super fast cleaning they are known for. I know, it's rare. What turns out to be the reason? Apparently heat can break the boiler, or at least that's what they told me. So if you're in an urgent rush in hot weather, and need something pressed? Might want to call to make sure they can handle the schedule you're requesting. Also keep in mind that while they have two locations - the one on Chicago simply ferrets your clothes to the location on Dempster and back. So unless you need to pick up at the Chicago st location, you may as well go to Dempster because everything is done there anyway. read more

I took a suit pant to be taylored and measured, my experience with this place was not good, the quality of the job looks average, my pants were cut and done right, but the my experince really went down when I was paying for my item, I took out my credit card to pay and the guy told me that they do not accept credit cards, I was like what! I came up to this place which I did not want to come to in the first place, I just wanted to give them a try and then just to have the guy at the counter tell me that they do not take credit cards. Then he offers me to use some cheap little grey box they call an ATM inside of their store, like really I'm gonna use a no name brand ATM to retrieve my money? You Serious? I can't see them lasting that long at this rate. I'm not coming back, they lost a future customer, in this day in age customer service speaks louder than words. Been going here for a year with dry cleaning only. This is a review on the wash and fold service which I used because I wanted to save time. I know how to do my own laundry but when you're working so much, it's nice to have someone you trust do your laundry. Kenny the Kleener FAILED! My first bag was fine. I bought in for my second wash and fold and the following occurred. It was supposed to be ready Monday night. The driver forgot it at the plant. They called and let me know it'll be ready the next morning. The next morning, the driver once again didn't see it. They'll drive it over. It took them 20 minutes to get there as I waited in my car. I think I might have gotten there faster. (30 minutes spent thus far) I go home. My dress has stains on it and my underwear that was white is now pink. I bring it back. Spent another 10 minutes talking to the guy and manager. It'll be ready on Sunday before Labor Day. (40 minutes spent) I then went on Sunday. It wasn't there. It's at another location. Please go pick it up. (60 minutes spent) Dress is better and underwear back to previous color. I wanted to talk to the manager but he is out. I was told to call the morning after. I spent an hour and spent $11 for them to do my laundry. I could have done it for $4 and 2 hours of my time. I'd rather not spent the time and effort making a call to let you know that you have bad service. Instead I'll write reviews and let everyone else know how terrible your services are. I brought 15 shirts in to be cleaned and pressed. Half of the shirts were still wrinkled and placed on the hangers very sloppy. This is the second time this has happened (I understand if there is a mistake once). I brought them back and the representative simply said that they would fix this and if I wanted to discuss the owner would be there the next day. She would not refund the poor work and did not offer any kind of apology. The owner was not available the next day. The staff is not friendly and offers poor service. I usually don't comment on Yelp, but the experience was so poor that I felt the need to warn people. My guess is that they don't really care as there seems to be a lot of complaints on Yelp. They do a great job and I've never had a problem here, but for all the people who say they are inexpensive (or even cheap), I have news for you. The current rate for dry cleaning is $4.19 per piece here and my other cleaners on Touhy is still at $2.29 per piece. Taking your clothes to the dry cleaners is a chore you just have to do. At least going to Kenny the Kleeners is always a fun and friendly experience. The staff there is terrific! They always have enough clerks on duty so you don't have to wait in line for more than a minute or two and if there is a customer taking up too much time, one of the managers will step in to provide customer service. Besides being friendly and nice to deal with, Kenny does a great job on my clothes! Whether it's my khakis that I'm too lazy to iron or my $600 suits, I trust Kenny to have all my garments looking, feeling and smelling great every time. I love taking my down comforters in to Kenny The Kleeners (I do it twice a year at least). They come back super fluffy and fresh - better than brand new! On the plus side, if you qualify for one of their deals (5 executive shirts at one time, etc) or have a coupon the pricing is very competitive. Note that their list pricing can be expensive. Their cleaning was not the best, but adequate. I used their tailor services a couple of times, adequate results but there are better tailors out there. I went to them for my dry cleaning for a few years. In general their service was OK. Then I had a very bad experience. I had a problem where I got back a dress shirt and the back was shredded. It looked like it ran over some type of sharp roller. Their handling of the problem was terrible. First, they claimed the shirt was given to them that way -- no way. Then they offered to refund me the $2.50 cleaning charge (this is like bringing in your car for an oil change, they total the car, and they just want to refund you the $19.95?). The only other thing they offered was for me to talk to Kenny. He "wasn't in". I kept trying to call back for about a month, but eventually it was clear he was never going to be available. The shirt was bad enough, I was probably out $80, but what if this was an expensive suit?? So they are OK if you want basic low cost cleaning and your clothes are not expensive. This place is the best! I have no trouble paying for kleening up front, as long as when I check my stuff afterward, they're in good shape and any stains that can be gone are gone. Very reasonably priced, too. I love that a pair of pants is only 1.75 and a suit is 3.95. I won't go broke getting my clothes cleaned! After dealing with Kenny, the owner, I was left walking away from the absolute worst customer service experience of my life. Kenny was extremely dismissive towards my situation and persistently rude to me. His dry cleaning service damaged my winter coat far beyond repair and took absolutely no accountability. They instead persisted that I take it up with the department store I purchased it from. For a business that has been around for so long, I'd expect a much higher level of accountability and better course of action in response. I discourage every and any person from taking a chance with this cleaning service. This review is for the Wilmette location, but all the work is centralized under one ownership. This was my "go to" cleaners for quite a while. Then when I had a problem, they didn't stand behind it, and went so far as to say they had never had a dissatisfied customer before. I wanted an apology, a refund and an offer to make good, and was given neither. I will take my business there in the future. Here's the story: I had a sweater with a magnet closure. It came back without the magnet, and a hole where it had come out. I showed them, they said they would check for the magnet & repair it. When I picked it up they had glued a magnet on the outside of the sweater, did not sew up the hole where it had fallen out of, and explained that it was like that originally. They insisted it was the original magnet, and their expert tailor had returned the sweater to normal. The magnet peeled off before we got home. read more

I dropped off a white cotton blend Jones New York blazer two weekends ago; just light collar & cuff soil, so stains. I came back a week ago today, and noted that the blazer had one of those "We scrubbed and we scubbed but Oh Well! Sucks to be You!" tags on it, so I took it to the car, unwrapped the plastic, and found that my formerly white jacket was now a dingy yellowish gray, with a black streak on the side. I marched back in and demanded a re-do, which the surly kid who waited on me grudgingly agreed to do. Came back in last Friday; the black mark was gone, but the dingy yellowish gray tone was still the same - the white buttons, lining, and piping are still bright white, which makes the jacket unwearable. The same surly kid waited on me, taking a belligerent tone from the start. To make a long story short, I came back in today for the pickup, as noted ON THE TICKET, and no jacket. Same surly kid picked a fight with me about it, took no responsibility for ruining a $150 dollar jacket that they had cleaned without incident before, and mumbled under his breath, "Don't come back!" I lost it. Turns out this clown, Eloy, is supposedly the store manager. Unbelievable. So, I now have no jacket, and no refund, no apology, no nothing. This does not end here. This guy should be fired today. There are a zillion other dry cleaners in Skokie and Evanston. FIND ANOTHER ONE. read more

I don't know what happened to the first review I wrote so here it is again. If it saves one person from the aggravation and rude behavior I was subjected to than it was well worth posting twice. Terrible, awful and RUDE! They lost my clothing! I was compensated for 70% of the replacement value of the items that they lost and offered a $20.00 credit for future cleaning. The most offensive part was when I was told that "The negotiations are over." and that I had "hit the jackpot" by having them lose my stuff the first and only time I used their services. They were unresponsive when I made my inquiries and incapable of returning phone calls. They should also compensate customers, I use the term loosely, for the hypertension medication they will have to go on after dealing with them. Aggravation is an understatement! I picked up a lab coat at the central ave location a few days ago which was suppose to be done medium starch, which is how I always have it done. I went in today with the same lab coat a few days later and mentioned it wasn't starched. At this point, Kenny or who every the regular guy is, stepped back and straightens up and told me that was impossible with a rather hostile demeanor. He then told me I was calling him a liar. I told him I was not, however it simply wasn't starched. At this point he told we were done here and dismissed me. My first, worst & last experience. I brought my CREAM boyfriend blazer there to be dry clean. When I came to pick it up it was WHITE. I complained about it and they couldn't do much about it. Have been coming here for several years, despite the rising prices, as its close to my home. Prices now for hemming are 6.50 a pant leg! last year, I dropped off a pair of pants to be hemmed and received them with hemming on one side only. I was offered an apology, but nothing else for my time and trouble to come back twice. Today I went in as one side of pants that were hemmed within a year fell. I was told she could not find the old ticket and she offered to fix the hemming for 5.00! Should your tailor's work not last the life of the pant? Or at least under a year?
