The food was solid. I had a combo plate with pork fried rice, fried shrimp, a shrimp egg roll with egg flower soup and my wife had BBQ pork and crab and cream cheese wontons. The service was perfect for us: minimal, yet courteous and attentive when we needed it. Their business seems to have shifted to a delivery-first model which dampens the dining room's ambiance a bit. The building is nondescript and utilitarian, it's not flashy nor does it try to be. The focus is on the food at a good value. As a native Chinese, I cannot believe how horrible they make their food. How is it even possible to mess up a simple pork fried rice? Me and my boyfriend took two bites of our food and took home and transformed the food ourselves by adding Chinese spices. We cannot even sit there for 10 minutes to eat more of what they gave us. I ordered food to be delivered. I got the egg flower soup and a #13 combo meal. The soup was okay but the combo meal was like it had set all day under a heat lamp all 3 kinds of chicken tasted exactly the same and it was so dry and tough that I couldn't eat it. My Daughter and I had lunch other day, it had been awhile since being here because last time food was not at all like it used to be .I'm a long time lok Yaun customer used to come from out of town to old one when I was a kid and even after being a adult and living here we would dine here or get take out . This visit the food was good, much better than last time we had eaten here .The egg flower soup was still good :) we used to call it the cure all soup if we were sick and would pick some up to go .this time tho I was worried how I was going to feel after eating lunch due to , the dining area it is full of their inventory boxes, which to me is not eye appealing and gives not clean vibes.They really should make a wall or something to hide that , Our waitress was friendly and on top of making sure if we needed anything. Unfortunately probably won't go back for awhile or at least not until it gets a good cleaning and maybe few updates. I have worked 12 hours. I am tired but I need to bring food home for the kids. Of course they are starving. They want Mcdonalds. I'm sick or that. I got an extra 30 dollar tip so I thought I would treat us. I went in and they were not packed I just said I needed to place a order. to go. I asked how long this order would take as I have babies at home waiting to eat. She told me 10 minutes. Great can I just have some water She was super. Brought me the water.. 25 minutes after the water still no food. My kids are calling me crying because they are hungry. I finally ask for a refund. and the staff calls me rude. all of them. Had not been to Lok Yaun in YEARS and was needing a Chinese fix so gave it a spin. The Pot Stickers were great but the dipping sauce was VERY salty which was too bad. I had the the Number 2 and the veggies seemed fresh but something was lacking in the flavor (the good thing is, they do not use MSG here). Ever since they moved, this place has gone downhill significantly and very quickly. It's like they've lost any sort of standards or consistency in that move. I've been in here several times with my mom and my brother. I typically hate Chinese food, but I'll tolerate it when I have to. Mostly because these two never gave me much choice. So we end up here. I've had them serve us tea in a kettle that the bottom was covered in sweet and sour sauce, supposed to be clean. I mean, if I can catch something like that before it's even sat down on my table, why the hell can't the staff notice it? That is something simple, in my opinion, that is a quick fix/easy catch. But you have to have quality control, which doesn't exist here. Every time we come in here, they are just terrible. They pay no attention to when people are seated, so we end up waiting 20 minutes for someone to take our order, and a group that sat down 5 minutes ago has their order taken immediately, while we're left waving for someone to acknowledge us. When it is brought up to the waitstaff, they are short and rude about it. Our concerns or issues don't matter. Literally we've had one shake her head, as if not hearing us, and said, she just works there. It's pathetic. No one comes to clean the tables off either. I've had to stack dishes and plates on the window sill as we are putting stuff in boxes, or when our food arrives and there is no where to put the soup bowls. The food is always cold. I used to watch them in the old location making everything and being placed in the window, and it being brought to the tables immediately. Here it seems like it sits forever being it's brought out. I have no idea what changed, but it is just terrible. Even though I am not a big fan of Chinese food, I am sad to see a business that was once good just fail so completely now that they've moved. Lockyard has been a dependable Chinese restaurant for years in Eugene. We used to go in and get mounds of great Chinese food and have leftovers for days. Lately I've been calling and ordering it for via delivery service and even though I ask for utensils and plates every time I never ever ever get them. Food is great but if you have no way to eat it it takes away from the experience. Not sure what it takes to get them to include what you asked for. This is a rough one. I find myself more and more disheartened. I'm trying to branch out from my typical Chinese-American places. I was told Lok Yaun would fill the void, and boy did it fill it, with more sadness. Whole heartedly I wish that I could give a good review. I was turned on to them by a foody friend, who clearly has lower standards then I expected. I'd love to say something positive about this place, but I'm at a loss for words. Half my meal was decent. My typical fair of sweet and sour chicken and Almond chicken were a base level good. However the spring rolls, lo mein, egg drop soup, and rice (yes even the rice) was busted. Something went wrong along each one of these foods being prepared and delivered for human consumption. Lok Yaun is one of the best places to eat in Eugene, Oregon. My favorite dish is the Salt & Pepper Chicken. Over the years I have tried to copy this recipe and I can never recreate it. I just moved back to Eugene from San Francisco, Lok Yaun still has the best Salt & Pepper Chicken and Low Mein. I used to go here with my Mother and extended family growing up and in all the years that we dined here. We never had a bad dining experience. The portions are generous. I still love eating leftovers from Yok Yaun cold the next day, that is how you know Chinese food is good, if you like eating it cold. The oil content and spice balance is always right, even cold. Ordered pork lo mein and shrimp egg rolls for delivery. Service was fast and food was great. The pork was roasted and sweet--delicious. The lo mein also wasn't overly sauced, which I find preferable. Tons of veggies in it, too, and the to-go container was packed full. The shrimp egg rolls have shrimp in there, but there's nothing shrimpy about them. One egg roll is 2-3 times the size of a standard egg roll. (I used a fortune cookie for size in the picture I took.) They also appear to be battered, which I wasn't expecting but it was quite yummy. I definitely look forward to trying new menu items from here--if they're all as good was what I had today, I'll be back often. read more

Lok Yaun is by far my favorite Chinese place in the mid-Willamette valley. I've made the hour-drive to Eugene just to eat here multiple times. The BBQ pork tastes like it should, the Mar Far chicken has a perfect combination of sweet and savory, and they have the best egg-roll I've had in the states. The prices are low and the portions are enormous. We always get the family meal, and we have at least another full meals worth of leftovers after. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

My last few times using Lok Yaun have been very disappointing. They used to add more sauces in with the order and all at a decent price. This time, thy gave us 1 packet of Soy Sauce and then charged us almost double the price advertised on their website. When we asked about that the woman at the counter (who has become rather rude) said that is old pricing. This is false advertising. It is their fault their website is not up to date.
