Last time customer @ Kento in Lebanon, OR. I was looking forward to my meal yesterday afternoon at this restaurant. Unfortunately, I ended up being very, very disappointed. I arrived a little before 5pm and the place was empty. Alyssa greeted me and she was amazing, very friendly and enthusiastic. I was ecstatic by her customer service skills and even told her how wonderful she was on the phone to each and every customer. Not only that, but I would give her a shout out on my Yelp review, I was planning to write. Between call-in orders, she kept busy preparing and cleaning, the restaurant itself was very presentable and orderly. Alyssa kept telling everyone their order should be ready in about 15-20 minutes, (I clearly heard her confirm this time with the kitchen) so I assumed that my one single order of a California summer roll (this should be taken off the menu, it's just bad) and sukiyaki chicken would be served to me in that amount of time as well. 45 minutes later she said it would be coming out soon and I politely opted for them to bag it up so I could leave. Alyssa continued to be an outstanding employee, apologized, and multi-tasked between taking orders, communicating with the kitchen staff, and checking out customers for to-go orders. Another employee hand delivered my order, and genuinely apologized for my wait. Even after waiting longer than expected, I felt good enough with my experience that I tipped $10 on a $20 bill because of their sincerity and I continue to stand by my tip. What I don't appreciate is what I actually got, which is a whole lot of onion, instead of chicken and veggies. Chef Rick would be disappointed, as he has clearly posted great pictures with a good amount of protein and veggies. I respect what he's trying to do to promote his business. I believe he is very hard working and I value his approach to partner up with other local businesses in the food industry as well. Unfortunately, my experience last night, along with a few other times, will have me going elsewhere from now on, when I am in town. Enjoyed the hibachi salmon today that I ordered for "to-go", since I wanted to share with my husband. Everything was delicious! Veggies and rice were cooked well, but the salmon was perfection. Almost too much flavor, but I don't eat much salt or sugar so I notice generously flavored foods more than most people. I think most people would think it was just right. Chef Rick (the owner) was a lovely person to talk with and get to know a little. Lebanon has a treasure in this place and should make sure to support local business owners like Chef Rick, who are bringing goodness and joy to the community. read more

I really liked this place, highly recommend. I got the sukiyaki steak plate and it was BIG YUM. My mans got a steak, shrimp, and calamari plate and he was very satisfied. The calamari was prepared in a way that I'm not familiar with, so that was cool. I'd like to go back and try the chicken and one of the millions of shaved ice flavors! I couldn't just write a normal review because there's so much more to this place than just the food. And if a place ever deserved more than five stars, this certainly takes the cake. I was coming from Stayton and so I called ahead because I knew they closed at 8:00. The owner Rick answered the phone and I told him I could not make it there until 7:40 and if that would make everyone mad. Surprisingly with a warm and welcoming voice he said come on down and we'll have a table ready for you. I have so been wanting to try this place for the last 3 months since the new ownership because the old ownership had consistently went downhill so this really got me excited. My table was ready when I got there so I ordered as quickly as possible out of respect for them closing in 20 minutes. When the food arrived, I was blown away by the colors, quality and portion size for the price that I paid. Everything was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The staff never rushed me and I ended up leaving about 8:10. Rick instantly gained my respect on many many many levels. He was a soldier in the United States Army, he dresses the part of leadership, his staff is very polite and energetic, he treats everyone with respect and he loves his family. How can you not love and support a MAN that conducts himself to those standards. As I left, I was happy to gain a new place to eat, but also felt like I was supporting something that really matters. Not the best experience. Ordered 20 minutes ahead and ended up waiting another 20 minutes once we got there. When we got our food home... it was wrong. Rice instead of noodles being the big mess up. And having meat we didn't order... I'm sure there are probably reasons that this all went sideways but I'm probably not going back. Suggestions: When someone is waiting and you know it... offer a beverage, it's cheap and goes a long way to making someone feel better about... waiting. When someone waits 20 minutes beyond the promised time... offer a discount. As far as the wrong food... you just need to do better. The food we received was ok. Veggies were charred more than I would have expected but the other items were ok. read more

Kento is amazing!! It's a newly opened restaurant after converting from a food truck (or so I heard). The food is amazing, and I always get the combo plate! It definitely hits the spot whenever I crave asian food. They also have there in-house secret dipping sauce called the "yum" sauce, but I call it the yum yum sauce, so definitely give it a try! read more

Food is okay. Seasoning is a lot of salt and lemon pepper. Vegetables are just burnt, no sauté. Has a lot of potential.

Super tasty Japanese food! Excellent dishes, prepared fresh (don't be in a hurry). This is really a take out joint, though they have seating, your food will still be served in to go containers with plastic utensils. Definitely my favorite place to eat in Lebanon alone. I order the fried chicken gyoza fairly often, they are hands down the most delicious. McKayla is also awesome! I was bringing my husband home from nearby hospital a few days ago and looking for some food to go. We tried the chicken teriyaki with rice and veggies and it was very good. We are so happy we found this place and are looking forward to coming back and trying other things.
