Because of yelp I was worried that I had to make a reservation. I called and thankfully they said I could just come. I came here with my mom. They were open for dining in so we got a seat out on the patio. We each got a virgin strawberry mojito for our drink. It was refreshing and sweet. For our meal we shared Ahi Tuna Tacos with Fresh House Salad, Tomato Salad, and Tuna Ceviche. The tacos were a little bland. Overall the food was great! We were both full afterwards. Our waitress took awhile getting our order. We came around 5 PM on a Monday. I don't know if they're usually busy around then, but we did notice there were a good amount of customers. I wish the waitress asked if we wanted any condiments. There weren't any condiments/ seasoning at our table. I don't know if they usually keep condiments in the back, but if they do, I'm assuming that they keep it in the back due to the pandemic. We eventually asked for hot sauce and a lime on the side for the tacos. One thing to know, the patio is right next to a outdoor swimming pool, so you can expect to see and hear other people! This restaurant it's at Herrington Harbour South Marina. This is the second time we have had dinner here and both experiences have been superb. The restaurant is very nicely and simply decorated, with a very nice ambience, friendly service, and most importantly wonderful food. There is a full bar that specializes in cocktails. The wine list could be better though. They have a very nice outdoor seating area with a full bar and you can eat there the same food that you can order inside. They have very good happy hour specials. Both times we ate here the food was so good that we decided to order dessert thinking that it would be as good as the food was and it really was!!!!!! read more

We went here for dinner two nights straight since there's really not much dining option around here other than this place and the deli across the street. The staff is great and the atmosphere is nice. You have the option to dine indoor or outdoor. Both nights my husband tried to order crab cakes but it wasn't available so not sure why they have it on their menu. If they have crab soup, why can't they have crab cakes?! We ordered mussels, crab soup and sticky wings for appetizer the first night. They were all just ok. The crab soup tasted little sour first night and wasn't sour second night so the taste of their food isn't consistent. Ahi tuna tacos were decent but was missing something, maybe some type of sweet soy flavoring. Second night, we ordered crab dip for appetizer and it was good but they definitely need to give more bread (at least 2 more). We had so much dip leftover and ran out of bread even though we used big spoonful of dip in each bite. The pork tacos were pretty good, no complaint here. All other foods were just ok too and not really worth mentioning. Indoor dining chairs were wobbly and dirty and thought it might fall apart while I was sitting. My water cup and utensils were dirty as well. I really wanted to like this place because our waiter and the atmosphere was nice but food wasn't anything to rave about and we were just stuck with this place due to limited dining options. read more

Although Joseph Heller probably wouldn't approve of the bad pun based on his famous novel that culminated in this restaurant's name, the place is not all bad. Located on the northern edge of Calvert county in a marina on the Chesapeake Bay, the interior is fairly sleek and chic. The ambiance is seafood House meets East German nightclub. Dining room itself is fairly small with views of the pool area and partial views of the marina. We arrived for a late lunch at 1:52 on a Sunday afternoon. I know the exact time because there was quite a bit of conjecture amongst the staff over whether or not we would be allowed to order off the menu or forced to use the brunch menu since brunch did not conclude until 2 p.m. We really didn't care, but the hostess and wait staff seemed to be very afraid of the kitchen. Ultimately they told us we would have to order off the brunch menu. The hostess tried to seat us at a two top that was in a high-traffic area between the front door and the main dining room and also had a lovely view of the restrooms. We declined and opted for a two top closer to the exterior wall. All of the tables in that area used a long semi-circular banquette as part of the seats. My only issue was that the tables were so close together that diners are uncomfortably close to their neighbors if those tables are occupied, which in our case was what happened. I felt like I couldn't talk in a normal tone of voice without bothering folks at the next table and vice versa. Service was great and the food came out pretty quickly. My wife opted for the Maryland crab soup and a turkey Cobb salad. I went with the special that was described as corned beef and sauerkraut over a bed of home fries finished off by two poached eggs. The execution was a little bit different as no sauerkraut arrived, and the home fries do not appear to be home made. The uniformity of cut, size, color and spicing of the potatoes indicated to me that they came from a bag a Frozen spuds. All in all the dish wasn't bad it just wasn't great. My wife's salad arrived but no soup. When our server realized that the soup had not made it she offered to bring it out but my wife said we would just take it to go. To her credit our server packaged the soup in a to-go bowl but did not charge us for it. Bathrooms are very clean and prices were fairly reasonable. My rating system is three stars for restaurants to which I would return, four stars for places at which I would like to be a regular, and five stars for places to which I would drive out of my way. Although I actually DID drive out of my way to this restaurant I probably wouldn't do it again but if in the area I wouldn't hesitate to dine here. read more

I am so disappointed in Ketch 22. Last year three years for my birthday we have gone. I have always recommended the crab cakes as the best in Maryland. I must now change that to not recommending as this restaurant has gone significant down hill. Upon arriving for my reservation. I had to wait 20 minutes as no tables were cleaned off. I had a 3:30 pm reservation for my birthday. There were only 3 in our party. So I went to the bathroom. The bathroom was so dirty I almost gagged. I told the hostess it needed attention. She appeared horribly embarrassed. We sat down to eat finally. Upon arrival at the table all the seats had food particles in them. Yuck. Our waitress was incredibly sweet. The staff of this place is the only reason I gave one star. We all wanted crab cakes. And we're immediately told they had none in stock. At least half of their menu had some form of crab meat!! So of course none of those alternate things were available. Fried pickles were burnt. The deviled eggs were curdled. They just smelled rotten. I ordered shrimp. It was WAY over seasoned. So spicy I could not eat it. And they were not deveined which was also disgusting. My husband was so disappointed he sent his food back and refused to try anything else. So so so disappointing that a place so loved had gone down hill so badly. With the high prices, lack of crab, filth of the dining room and the bathrooms. I will not be back until reviews show improvement. The sheer fact that no one else is out of crab makes me wonder if they won't be shuttering up soon. read more

I had dinner last night at Ketch 22 for the first time when my friends took me out for my birthday. The waitress at the next table had a tray of drinks that was hit accidentally by a lady at the table. The drinks spilled all over my left side and the waitress failed to assist me, look at me, or apologize. It took the manager a half an hour to come to our table to talk to us and he was very unconcerned. Prior to leaving we talked to the manager and he said the waitress was videotaped and he saw that she talked to me, he refused to let me see the video. One of my friends ordered French fries. The menu is pretty creative and updated with the change of seasons which is nice. We visit regularly and am usually pleased with the selection and price, but the service is hit or miss. After several visits I learned that if we sit at the bar, order food that can easily be reheated. More often than not the food comes out barely warm. A couple of the bartenders go MIA (cigarette break perhaps?) and by the time they bring the food it has obviously sat under the warmer for a bit. It's not a dealbreaker by any means, as the food is that good and as long as they can reheat it I am good! I have noticed that when we sit at a table the food is more consistent. The restaurant and area has that vacation relaxation vibe with good food and a great atmosphere. Ketch 22 is nestled down in North Beach, MD off of the Marina. The food was absolutley delicious. I believe the She Crab soup is by far one of the best in the state of Maryland. The crabcake was perfect and in the words of my husband, the crabcake king, it was equally as good as his crabcakes if not a tad bit better. I love the variety in the kid's menu. There is more to life than chicken fingers and mac and cheese. My oldest really enjoyed the taco Kid's menu option and it was evident when he cleaned his entire plate. I ordered the shrimp PoBoy sandwich and my wife had the carnitas tacos. We also had the fried mash potato balls for an app. Desert was a apple turnover with vanilla ice cream. Good but not great. The food was overall good and can't complain. Serving size was good as well. Pricing for this was around $60.00. Service was good, not to overbearing. Ambiance was good, has a bar/restaurant feel. During summer they have a large outdoor seating area. They also do live music I think Wednesday and Thursdays. I would recommend if you are in area, but not a special trip. Again, can't complain. I had the crab cake dinner. Came with two decent size crab cakes. Came with two sides. Not much of selection on sides at all. I chose the side salad and French fries. The salad came on the same medium sized plate as the crab cakes and French fries. Side salad was mostly leafy and not much of anything else. Had to ask waitress for a plate for the salad and brought back a saucer. I ended up not eating it as I mentioned mostly mixed lettuce. Fries were broken pieces but tasted okay. (I'm Mexican, and I always get disappointed at restaurants, unlike today.) Their cream of crab could be improved, hence 4 stars. First off! This ain't no Mangos! For some locals in the area that's a bad thing. For me it's a good thing. Mangos was more of a mediocre local night spot with subpar food (often barely edible) and fun bar crowd. Ketch 22 has redesigned the entire place down to the bathrooms. It looks more like a trendy downtown DC foodie restaurant than a Southern Maryland local hangout. I think for Herrington Harbour this was a great move. I can imagine the folks that pay a premium to dock a half million dollar sale boat there probably expected something a little better than what the old Mangos had to offer. With that being said some how Ketch 22 was able to keep the menu trendy, simple and still offer a taste of Southern Maryland / Chesapeake Bay. The prices are very competitive with the rest of the area., $5 draft beer, entree starting at $15. I mean Hell, no reason to hang out after work in DC to catch happy hour. At Ketch you can drink all night at happy hour prices! Well all night I mean 10pm! The food was very good, we had the Cream of Crab soup to start which in my opinion is the best around ! I have had cream of crab from Baltimore to Point Lookout. This was some really good tasting soup with actual chunks of crab meat in it. We then moved onto some kind of egg roll special and pork tacos. Both of the meals offered huge portions and were very tasty . I felt the egg rolls where heavier than I expected and the pork tacos needed some salsa or something more, the pork was a little dry. Then for dessert we had the peach shortcake. Which is to die for. Also a huge portion- so save a Peach and share one with a friend . Service was really spot on , fast and friendly. Place was crowded and loud. A little hard if you plan to talk much to your date. This was a nice restaurant close to the water. We were able to check in on Yelp which was neat. I assume It saves us a little time but It didn't seem like many people were waiting. It was close to 9pm. There is a large parking lot across the street and there was an indoor and outdoor section. There was bars in both locations in addition to table seating. Te hostess was all business. The waitress seemed distracted but very sweet. We watched the colors of the sky change from inside the restaurant. I tried deviled eggs, mussels, and the pork and cabbage. The deviled eggs boasted a chili drizzle but It wasn't spicy. They were good. The mussels were great. And the pork was paired with cabbage and corn bread that was so very complimentary. Food was good. Service was good. Easy for a quick dinner. I would go back. And I love being on the water.
