Off the beaten path with beautiful views! I was able to patronize this restaurant with my coworkers and I really enjoyed it. Since the weather was perfect, we decided to eat outside. The outdoor setting has a covered bar with several tables on the deck. I ordered a Pina Colada crush because I love Pina Coladas and crushes! I've never seen the combination before on a drink menu. It was delicious! For my meal, I originally ordered the Steak Frites, but changed my mind when I saw the massive plate of Fish and Chips come out for another table. One thing about me is that I'm going to look at the food at other tables and watch the reactions when they take a bite. Stalker much!? I degress. The food came out and it was a solid choice. One of the best places to eat in North Beach! The menu was recently updated. Some of my favorites are: the half and half soup (half cream of crab and half Maryland crab soup), the ahi and Atlantic cod tacos, and the fried pickles. The Maryland crab soup is made with a rich beef broth base and country ham. The fish tacos are hand length and stuffed to capacity with goodness. The ahi tuna is topped with pickled onions and the Atlantic cod is topped with a cabbage-crema slaw. One of the unique side options is a blue cheese coleslaw which is a must try. Amazing. I love the vibe and atmosphere. I sat on the outside patio under the shade and caught the cool breeze from the ocean. I loved the Bacon Devil Eggs, Chicken Wings and Crab Cakes. The Strawberry Mojito and the Piña Colada Crush (Minus the Club Soda) are great choices for cocktails. The blueberry cobbler cheesecake is a great choice for dessert! read more

Blackened salmon with spinach and side corn. The salmon was perfectly seasoned and cooked and sat on top of a bed of spinach with a delicious sauce. I mixed my corn in with this dish. So delicious. We ordered several dishes and everything was good. The fried pickles were cut thick and fried well. A little drama when getting here. Parking was a challenge across the street in the full lot, but that wasn't the drama. We were sat immediately for our 8PM reservation at outdoor seating. We were seated at a table near the outdoor bar. Ugh. There was a drunk ne'er do well yelling at an employee. "You better call the f&$king police. You better call the f@&king police!" Mind you my 10 year old daughter was sitting practically next to this cretin. I said to him in my naturally macho voice "Watch your mouth! ". He looked at me and I repeated "Watch your mouth! I mean my 10 year old daughter is sitting right there!" He didn't take kindly but he lost the stare down. Then he got more unruly and kudos to management, they escorted him out, and gave us a free round of drinks! Try not to sit anywhere near the bar with kids. Definitely a place not for kids anywhere close to the bar. Ask for seating AWAY from the bar if with a kid. Bobby was are server and did a great job. Food: Really good. I wouldn't recommend the fried pickles though because it was thick and super hot from the deep fry. The fried cheese was good. Nice and crunchy but more batter than cheese. I had the tomato salad with salmon. It was served skin on. Honestly I didn't eat the crispy skin, because I don't know if I was supposed to eat it?? The rest was really good. My wife had the hamburger which she said was perfectly cooked and the portion was large. My daughter had the usual chicken tenders and fries (they do have a kids menu). If you are having a drink, I highly recommend the "South County Sour" which has mango habanero whiskey! Really good. read more

Wasn't the biggest fan of that but I just removed them. Fries are extra. Kid Had the tenders and fries. He loved it. Husband had the potato hushpuppies and the sticky wings, would go back for both. I met a friend today at Ketch 22 for a weekday lunch--it was my first time there. We had a reservation, but on a Wednesday, for an early lunch, it was not busy. Several people were eating inside, where there are tables by the window with a nice view of the water. My friend asked if eating outside was an option. It was a November day, with weather in the mid 50's, but the sun was shining. The door to the outdoor deck was locked, but they opened it, and we found a table in the sun. We both had soup to start (I had the Mom Mom's Maryland crab soup). It was tasty but contained minimal amounts of crab. My friend said their tacos are good, and she was right. She ordered shrimp tacos. I had the Ahi Tacos, which were really delicious. They use two taco shell layers, a hard taco to hold the filling & a soft taco on the outside. It really gives them a nice crunch. We split a bottle of wine (house wines are discounted on Wednesdays). So we had a tasty lunch and got our dose of sunshine and Vitamin D. We stayed at the adjacent Inn at Herrington Harbour for a wedding and the welcome party was at Ketch22. It had a really nice atmosphere overlooking the marina. The drinks were good. They had an orange crush that was good but could have been great if they did it as a martini with fresh muddled oranges, vodka, roses lime juice, triple sec and floated sparkling wine on top! Someone in our group had the crab dip and it was pretty runny and very little crab. I on the other hand had the crab soup. Oh my gosh - amazing!! Nice meal out on the patio. Well, we were staying at the Herrington resort a few yards away, so we had to at least try the Ketch 22. Turns out it would have been worthy of a drive to get there. A subdued guitarist/singer was performing out on the patio when our foursome arrived, so we asked to sit out there, next to the boats bobbing in the marina. Lovely. We enjoyed a few drinks, including good draft beers and cocktails. A nice cream of crab soup, and decent crab dip with soft pretzels. I really enjoyed the fresh fish and chips, others liked their sandwiches, burgers, or the ahi tacos. The service was very friendly and pretty competent. I don't write reviews much but man the food, service and people here were great. I decided to come to a new bar tonight and have heard good things from my buddies about Ketch 22. So I decided to take a seat out on the outdoor bar. I sat down and the folks next to me immediately started a chat which was lovely. I then got a drink and ordered some food where my bartender Emily took my order. She was super nice and even stood and chatted with me while it was busy. My food came out decently fast, as I would recommend the fish and chips. The boy who was carrying the food was super nice taking multiple trips to cater to my needs while also cleaning tables at the same time. I asked for a bunch of things but he came back super fast and asked if I needed anything else. I started a chat with him as well and he was a super friendly young man/kid. Overall this was one of the best experiences I have had at a bar and made my night. read more

From beginning to end I loved my experience. We started off with the crab dip and fried pickles. The crab dip is the best I've ever had. It was definitely the cheese. The bread that came with the crab dip was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fried pickles were fried to perfection brown and crunchy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. My friend got the burger with fries. The burger was cooked to perfection. The fries were crispy on the outside tender on the inside. I got the shrimp and noodles they were delicious. I ate half at the restaurant and saved the other half for lunch. My shrimp and noodles were just as delicious the next day for lunch. We were in for a surprise because they had a local band that played and the John Luskey band was awesome. Also the view by the water was amazing. We watched the sun go down to great music, company and food. I highly recommend Ketch22 and will be going back in the near future. read more

Revising my review. I used to love this place. They had unique dishes, and delicious food. Then they changed their menu and caved... now their food is mediocre like a lot of the other restaurants in the area. Almost nothing gluten free at all. And last time I was there.... Huge hair in my taco. Literally picked up my taco, and some of the contents were hanging out suspended by a long hair. Needless to say, the place we used to eat at weekly, we have now not darkened the door in quite a while. It's a shame. They had great potential read more

A very impromptu trip to the Chesapeake Bay Area the day before July 4th landed us at Ketch 22 for a lovely lunch. I made reservations via Yelp just as we rolled into the parking lot across the street. Lucky for us, we would only have to wait 15 minutes to be seated. We opted for a table on the patio facing the marina. A day that had started cloudy and unseasonably cool opened up to clear blue skies the minute we sat down at our table. Our little girl oo'd and aah'd over her coloring sheet and crayons; hubby and I oo'd and aah'd over the view of the beautiful scenery and the boats parked in the dock. Our waiter - who looked like a mix between Justin Bieber and River Phoenix (that's for you 80's babies) - woke us from our daydream and quickly took our orders: a poke bowl with blackened tuna for me; chicken quesadillas with fries for little one; and steak and eggs for hubby, with a Dr. Hathaway to whet his whistle. The food came in a reasonable time and we attacked. Unfortunately my poke bowl was immediately met with regret at the sight of the mound of white rice in the middle of the plate and four very blackened, not-quite-recognizable slices of ahi tuna. How did I forget poke bowls come with rice? It tasted fine enough, with the ahi tuna perfectly pink in the middle and the wonton strips and pickled onions adding a nice texture and bite. But the presentation was lacking, clearly thrown together and a little messy. I ate most the tuna and toppings. Hubby enjoyed his steak frites and eggs, and my little one ravaged her massive plate of chicken quesadillas with fries. We extended our stay even after the check was paid, enjoying the scenery and festive pre-holiday vibes. That and our waiter's attention did more than make up for my OK poke bowl. We decided to drive out to North Beach to enjoy the nice weather this weekend. We went to Ketch 22 on a whim and it will turn into a repeat restaurant whenever we are in the area. The service was great and everyone was very attentive. We sat outside, and their tables and bar area are perfectly shaded to enjoy the weather and not boil in the sun. You also have views of the water and marina. They have fun cocktails and I can't wait to go back and try more. We got the piña colada crush and it wasn't blended like a typical piña colada, but tasted just like it just over ice. We also got a peach crush, which was just as delish. For appetizers we got the crab dip and fried pickles. Both were so hot and fresh, though we would have liked just a little bit more lump crab in the dip. For entrees we got the crab cake entree and the blackened salmon. The crab cake wasn't full of filler and had a lot of large lump crab! Huge plus! The salmon was a huge slice and seasoned very well. One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Service was poor (appetizer and meal delivered same time and had to get my own refill of water); more flies than I've ever experienced in a restaurant; and food quality was poor. Fish and Chips - fries were this, soft and oily, cold and none more than an inch long. Fish was watery to touch. It had no consistency. First time here, one of our favorites is their sister restaurant, The Point, in Arnold, MD. The crab bites were excellent. Surprised that there were no picture of them here on yelp, there is now! The bourbon, barbecue quesadilla was a little messy, but delicious. So much so, that it did not last enough for me to take a photo of it. They even had a nice twist on the Caesar salad, there was a hint of mint in the salad, made for a very interesting taste, I will be stealing that for my own salad at home! The grapefruit crush was OK, not as good as the ones at The Point, also tried the Jalapeño-infused tequila with agave and fresh lime juice. If you enjoy spicy drinks, this is for you! I enjoyed it, but thought I could have been a little larger cocktail for the price. This place is so pretty! Clean, neat looking, and inviting! Our waitress, Madeline, was the best waitress we had in our 5 day stay at Chesapeake Beach! Our food was absolutely scrumptious!
