And where will you find this sweet little coffee shop, bar and full-service restaurant? Well, its on the lobby level of the Hoxton Hotel in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Whether you want a yummy Chocolate Rugelach, a slice of Cheesecake Babka, an Almond Challah Danish, a Boreka (Jewish stuffed puff pastry), a bagel, Kubaneh (Yemeni pull-apart bread), hummus or a multitude of Middle Eastern dishes, they are open all day for your eating and drinking pleasure. We stopped in after our morning walk around Williamsburg for coffee and shared a Chocolate Rugelach ($7.00) and an Almond Challah Danish ($8.00). The coffee was terrific -strong and flavorful and the best I had in Brooklyn. But OMG, were the pastries fantastic. The Rugelach was pretty large and chocolatey, and the Danish was decadently great. There are plenty of tables and chairs and the big seating area and bar seemed busy all day and night. Whether you call it a Jerusalem bagel or a ka'ak al Quds, those oblong delicacies remain one of my all-time favorite baked goods. Naturally I was excited to try the unique rendition offered at K'Far as part of their signature egg and cheese at brunch/lunch. I have to admit that I was rather disappointed with the end product. The menu promised schug on the sandwich, but if there was any it was barely noticeable, and the flavor of the sandwich was rather neutral. The ka'ak itself was not bad, but I think I prefer the rendition at Librae Bakery. The msabbaha we started with to share was my favorite dish. A lovely spot for Israeli eats housed in a beautiful space -- stopped by for an early dinner and loved to see the sun set from inside the space! I've heard great things about their brunch, but the dinner menu was delicious too. The server was really fun and helpful to make recommendations! I didn't feel strongly about the drink, but all of the food was so good. The savory Baklava was so unique and tasty and Hummus was delicious too. I had a pretty good experience overall. K'far is one of two Israeli restaurants in the Williamsburg hotel, the other is Laser Wolf which is a rooftop restaurant. The interior decoration is spacious with lots of greenery. When I arrived I had to wait an extra 15 minutes to be seated for my party of three. The food here is good albeit pricey. They mainly serve Israeli home style food and most of these foods you could get in Israel for a third of the price. The pita was airy, fluffy, with a nice chew. The hummus was smooth and not grainy. My main qualm was the flavor of the shakshuka and 8$ merguez sausage patty. The additional patty was dry and and small and the shakshuka tasted off. I also don't understand why they added feta cheese and onion crisps to it. It didn't enhance it at all. The pastries however were delicious, I would recommend trying a few and sharing them with your friends. read more

I love the way the inside is decorated and I love the cutlery they use. K'far, Laserwolf's sister restaurant, is a much quieter calmer vibe than the upstairs rooftop restaurant (which don't get me wrong is one of my favorites). The mushroom hummus here is delicious and comes with the pita that Laserwolf also serves. I also loved the potatos. The green beans were not what I expected, more of a soupy stew like consistency. I don't really recommend ordering the side order of rice either. The entrees are pretty good as well. I've also been to K'far for brunch and got the shakshuka - it wasn't anything special and didn't blow me away... I think I prefer their dinner menu. read more

This restaurant/café is soo aesthetically pleasing. It's chic, it's cozy, it's the perfect spot for a brunch with friends or even to get some work done. I sat in the restaurant area (there is a separate area for the café) and enjoyed a nice lunch with my friend. We got the mushroom hummus (highly recommend- soo delicious!), the pistachio sticky bun (good but super heavy, couldn't eat more than half), the tuna melt (my friend got this and it was huge, she really enjoyed it) and the shakshuka (this was my meal and it was good!). I came here on a Sunday night because laser wolf wasn't taking walk-ins and we were able to get seated right away! Overall, I thought the food was good but I wasn't super impressed by any of the dishes. I definitely recommend coming with a bigger group since the dishes are family style. Also, keep in mind that they charge you for extra pita. They accidentally charged us for two extra orders of pita when we only ordered one so we were able to get that taken care of. I'm not sure if I'd come back- I heard brunch is better. But will definitely try to attempt their sister restaurant, Laser Wolf, again! read more

K'Far is an extremely beautiful spot which almost resembles the Breakfast Hall of a really well done 5-star hotel. It is spacious, well laid out, and has an earthy design - all of which makes the venue a prime escapade from the cramped, cold, manmade city experience that most of us are coming from. The service to begin with was top notch. They do not rush you, they check in on you periodically, they ask for feedback on the food and even reflect on it in their own way. To start, this place is BEAUTIFUL! The interior is gorgeous and very roomy as well. Service was very attentive and they cleared our first plates and brought us new plates for our entrees. We were a group of 7 and got many dishes. For apps, we got the savory baklava, Arabic salad, fluke crudo, beef hummus and mushroom hummus with pita. The mushro hummus and savory baklava were table favorites for sure. For entrees, we got the mixed grill, chicken schnitzel, dorade fish. The fish was well cooked but a little on the smaller side than expected. The schnitzel was excellent and not too greasy. Came with a Cole slaw and spicy creamy dipping sauce. The mixed grill had a nice variety of meats but for the price, I don't think it was worth it. It was on the expensive side and didn't have as much meat as I'd expect for that price point. We also got a side of basmati rice, fingerling potatoes and green beans. Overall, this is a great place to take a group so you can all order a lot of things and try variety. Flavors were all there and food is not too heavy. There's a nice balance of carbs, protein and vegetables. This spot is the sister restaurant of Laser Wolf. I haven't been to that one yet, but I had high expectations. Spending my Sunday winter afternoon here was such a treat. The place is beautifully designed, with a gorgeous sunroof, a cozy ambiance, and lots of greenery. The lunch menu had so many great options that it took us a while to decide--lots of bakery and bread choices too. We started with a Yemenite latte made with ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon. It wasn't anything new to me since I make a similar version at home (Indian-style), but I love that NYC is finally getting more of these flavors. The tuna with a Jerusalem bagel was so good. The crispy, thin bagels--hot take, but way better than thick New York bagels--came with pickled cabbage and a super tasty green mint dressing on the side. Highly recommend! The shakshuka was served piping hot, with the perfect balance of tanginess and smokiness. Portions were huge, so definitely pace yourself when ordering. We visited for dinner around 6 on Friday. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet, with plenty of space, greenery, and tables, which made for a relaxed atmosphere. We were seated right away. We started with the resek (tomato) hummus, followed by the hanger steak and chicken schnitzel. The hummus was so delicious that we ordered an extra pita to finish it off. The waiter came by and gave us great recommendations to start off with for cocktails and wine. The staff overall was very attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this to start 2. Cod with Chraime - this fish was nice and soft, cooked in a tomato sauce in a hot cast iron. Not too spicy, just a little. They can adjust the spice if you ask. 3. Whole dorade - beautiful filet of white fish with an option for spice or less spice as well. Came with a side of tzaziki sauce. 4. The Persian lamb chops for 2 - huge amount of food with a lot of delicious sides like babaganoush, salad, Druze mountain bread, and even whole garlic cloves. My friend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon for a mid-afternoon snack. It was fairly busy, but there is plenty of seating. We split the mushroom hummus, which was delicious and creamy. I had an iced chai latte and my friend had a Yemeni latte, which we both really liked. The cafe is cozy and relaxing. The place was booked for Sunday brunch, but luckily they have bar seats available for smaller parties that aren't reserved seatings. My friend and I were able to sit there without a wait. The shakshuka was just what I needed after a run. The meal felt hearty without being too heavy. The tomatoes were fresh without being overcooked. They were bright and acidic. The egg was perfectly runny. Bulgarian feta was very mild and served to cut the acidity a little. I would skip the borekas the next time. I was expecting them to be at least warmed up, but they were cold and underwhelming. Potato filling was okay. The brown butter in the artichoke one reminded me a lot of cheese. The staff messed up which boreka we ordered, so they gave one to us on the house. Yeminite latte was good but not amazing. It was a nice contrast with the meal though as it was more rich than the shakshuka. The service is a bit scarce at the bar area but not sure about the floor. This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York . People rave about laser wolf and the view at laser wolf is breathtaking but the real star is k'far. My favorites on the menu were the crispy mushroom hummus , masabacha hummus, the soft warm pita that comes with the hummus , the Arabic salad ( I crave this salad ), the Persian lamb shank ( so tender ), and the mixed grill. All the accompaniments take the dishes to the next level . Other things i tried that were good but I wouldn't get again were the haloumi baklava ( other guests loved it. it was savory and sweet ) , the lamb tartare, the chocolate kanafi, and the sundae. Wonderful dinner at K'Far. We took our kids as the menu looked like there were some reasonably adventurous kid friendly items, and sure enough, it pleased everyone at the table. Started with the challah pull apart rolls (like the softest, fluffiest parker house rolls you've ever had) served with labneh butter at the perfect temperature. There's something fundamental about a restaurant caring enough to get that butter just right...it portends well for the meal ahead. We all enjoyed the baklava, though we all agreed the tuna was a better option. Just a hint of lingering spice from the harissa, an interesting brininess from the olives and some crunch on top. Delicious. The absolute star of the meal, though, was the short rib main. Oh dear heavens it was incredible. Rich, beefy, soft in a tangy sauce I could pour over everything. Our daughter all but abandoned her schnitzel (good but not epic) to share that delicious rib. The cod packed some heat, like a shakshuka with an extra kick. Three things missing at K'far that would make it perfect: 1. desserts (the morning pastries look so incredible but the nighttime options did not really call out to us 2. the view from upstairs at Laser Wolf (although K'far is very cozy, the view at Laser Wolf is beyond measure) and 3. the salatim from Laser Wolf. If I could mash-up Laser Wolf and K'far into one beautiful restaurant, with the salatim, appetizers and the view from upstairs, the incredible main dishes from downstairs and find a nighttime pastry chef to provide a worthy ending at both places, that powerhouse pair would truly hold a place among our favorite restaurants in town. This place is such a hidden wfh gem in Brooklyn! Saw a reel on instagram about it and had to run over here. BUT IT DOES GET REALLY CROWDED!! I had to stand for about 15 minutes looking at everyone sitting down, eyeing to see who will get up soon.. The cafe area is a first come first serve seating and you will get table service. There are people who also do work at the bar area as there are outlets there as there is free wifi. Even though it's pretty spacious with the bar/table/couch areas, it also does get really loud because there a lot of people, so keep that in mind if you are coming here for work (I had a zoom meeting which was pretty tough here). It does start to empty out around 3ish, when they start to change from their brunch/lunch menu to dinner menu. The kitchen does close at this time so the bakeries will be your best bet then. The pastries are pretty pricey here but I think they are pretty unique. I highly recommend getting the Jerusalem Bagel Sandwich as it was pretty flavorful and filling. read more

My favorite was the olive feta (5/5) - I've had plenty of burekas and this one was really well made. My one complaint is it's hard to believe 1 burekas is $6 when in Israel it's like 50 cents but here we are. - Jerusalem bagel, egg and cheese (3.5/5) very nice but wish it had a bit more kick (or maybe just more salt?) - Jerusalem bagel, salmon (4.5/5) I preferred this one over the egg and cheese. The salmon was great quality. The Jerusalem bagel itself was also solid. There was a bit of a snafoo with our order - the bagel was accidentally sent to someone else and it took over 20 minutes to get a replacement but the servers did let us know that they comped it for us due to the mishap so that was nice of them. The ambiance was a little bit awkward to eat a meal since it's mostly lounge-y seating and it's in the lobby of a hotel but it was still nicely decorated, I'd probably come back when a new burekas craving hits me. read more
