I now live in Florida and when I come back I need to have a few food items while I'm there. My first stop is always the Pretzel Factory, I have to have a Stromboli with steak, forget the cheesesteaks go for a Stromboli from Fiore! Medium size is pretty good size, for three people we had plenty of left over for the next day. The delivery gentleman which I didn't get his name was very friendly. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza, my last visit to Philly, We had to get it again, so good and I'm not a crust but their crust was actually pretty good for me to have. Our order came pretty fast!! Fiore is a fine little cafe tucked away on an unassuming street in Kensington and a place whose OG sandwich is the stuff dreams are made of. When you walk in, you're greeted by smells of fresh baked pastries and sights of families, friends and hipsters packed like sardines in the small dining room. Despite being tiny, the system flows like a well operated machine and I am here for it. You place your order at the counter, which is speckled with an array of freshly baked Italian pastries and savory items. We opted for their classic, the SALTIE sandwich, and a side of hash browns because what brunch is complete without some taters? After ordering your are given a table number and, if you are lucky, you find a table and a waitress brings out your food. While you wait, any drinks you ordered are also brought out and their coffee is bottomless so hint, hint. Fill-er up. After a few minutes, we were greeted with the perfect sandwich. I am being quite literal here. A combination I wouldn't have dreamt of. So simple. So. damn. good. The softest scrambled eggs sit atop a cloud of whipped ricotta (TRUST this) which is perfectly seasoned with salt and black pepper. Then it's all sandwiched between crunchy/crispy, perfectly oiled housemade focaccia. It is perfect in every single way and as soon as I was done eating it, I dreamt about the next time I would eat one. We can't forget the spuds, because those...My goodness. An upgraded version of my favorite hash browns as a kid (the Golden Arches) these are large and in charge and an order comes with two hefty slabs that are perfectly rectangular, perfectly salted and despite coming with ketchup, need nothing more than a napkin to wipe your hands after eating one. The rest of their breakfast menu looks fire as does their lunch items, which rotate based on seasonality. If only I lived closer, this would be a weekly, if not daily, staple. Fiore Fine Foods... One of the first places my friend wanted to take me to when we arrived in Philly was this local coffee shop. She raved about the shakerato and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Never have I had a drink like this before and could have had like five glasses of it. I got the B.E.C and the caramelized onions were such a delicious addition to the sandwich. I also shared a vanilla bomboloni with my friends and it was so creamy and not overalls sweet. I felt transported to a quant Italian cafe and wish we could have eaten some of the lunch items as well, but now it gives me an excuse to go back! read more

I had one of the best brunches today after a long time! They offer a bunch of breakfast items that include sandwiches, salads and pastries (both sweet and savory) that are available all day!! We had the ham and cheese cornetti, pistachio cornetti, crema cornetti, fried chicken sandwich and two shakeratos - everything was absolutely phenomenal and I don't think I can pick a favorite but if I had to, it would be the pistachio cornetti! Review for dinner service - Super grateful to have secured dinner reservations! Went in with high expectations. Their service was phenomenal, we asked to find out where the lamb was sourced from and whether or not it was halal. Within ten minutes, we received all the information and indeed it the lamb was halal. The staff were super attentive and the food came out really fast - one after another. Tempura fairytale eggplant - this was served with a fermented tomato vinaigrette. The batter was incredible and the eggplant actually reminded me of an East Asian dish I have had before. Sesame + semolina toast - the toppings had confit swordfish, Romano beans, fried capers and sweet onion. The swordfish was plenty, loved the heavy protein! The Romano beans seemed a bit lost in the dish. Roasted and marinated sweet peppers - relatively simple dish with sheep's milk ricotta on fried sourdough. The sourdough fried was incredible and really elevated the dish. Cappellacci - stuffed with Swiss chard and swimming in hazelnut pieces and brown butter, this was the ultimate autumn dish, incredible! The crispy sage leaves were divine. Fusi istriani - served with lamb and ragu, I liked the bite to this pasta and the one above. The lamb and ragu seemed like it was just thrown on the plate, we had to spread it around to a little bit of everything in each bite. We got a complimentary Italian cookie to go which we enjoyed! In general, dropping a star because I felt that every dish was super oily and masked the freshness of what could have been for some ingredients. I think a salad would have helped cut through the oil. I was thinking I should have ordered the Bartlett pear salad but I think the pecorino wouldn't have helped. read more

We were looking for bakeries / breakfast spots in Philly and Fiore came up - the menu looked so good so picked up The Saltie and a chocolate bomboloni. Soo good! The sandwich has the fluffiest bread and the most airy, light, fresh ricotta on satisfyingly chewy focaccia - just wish there was a tiny bit more flavor like adding their herb aioli or something, but still was super delicious. The chocolate bombooni was so good, I still think about it sometimes - not over-the-top sweet, oozing with chocolate, just perfect. Would highly recommend Fiore! read more

This is a small, cozy cafe with lots of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. I tired the breakfast sandwich with extra egg instead of sausage, herb aioli, and fontina cheese. The herbs were flavorful and the homemade bread was fresh. I enjoyed the sandwich and would get it again. The gluten free hazelnut cake with cocoa and hazelnut flour had a very nice, nutty taste but I felt it was a little dry for my taste. The service was great as well. The people are nice, it's a cute spot. But the food to cost ratio is abysmal. We've gone a few times and the price for flavor is not there. I paid $14 for an apple salad, and it was truly just apples in balsamic vinegar. If I misread the menu that's on me, but $14 is still ridiculous. My husband got the chicken parm sandwich and it was terribly bland. I just can't justify paying high prices for bland food. I can get bigger and better food for the same price elsewhere. read more

A bite of Italy in Philadelphia! Fiore is a small cafe in Kensington, with a menu that features not only pastries, but coffee, light breakfast/lunch fare and even gelato. I Visited at 130pm on a Saturday, and had about 3 or 4 people in front of me. I would caveat, that if you're going for the pastries, you should visit earlier than I did, because the selection was pretty limited close to closing (they close at 3pm). But what I did try was good! Italian drinking chocolate : 15 out of 10 !!! Fiocco de neve: 10 out of 10 Chocolate bombolini: 8 out of 10 Cinnamon sugar donut: 8 out of 10 The hot chocolate is Lucious! I regret agreeing to share a cup with my partner, because it was so good, I wanted another. The Fiocco de neve was my favorite pastry! Small brioche bread with milk cream and sweet ricotta inside. Not overly sweet or overly jammed with ricotta, made for the perfect bite. Both the chocolate bombolibi and the cinnamon sugar donut were tasty as well. Street parking available, not plentiful. B.e.c. had more flavour compared to the breakfast sandwich, so I will get b.e.c. next time, maritozzi was SO good!! I liked their coffee, but I wished it came in a slightly bigger glass. They have other delicious looking pastries, but they go fast! If you want their pastries better go when they first open because around noon time it's slim picking. One of my favorite places. I like a pastry and coffee for a weekend breakfast and my wife prefers some type of egg sandwich. The pastries are the best in the city. The breakfast sandwiches are really good, but huge. Recently, we split the sandwich and a couple of pastries and that worked really well. I don't like filled donuts...but their bombolonis are incredible. You'd think you couldn't finish one...but you can. You also cannot go wrong with any of their cakes. Our first visit to Fiore's new location was well worth the hourlong trip over Philly's potholed streets. Dinner service has recently been added and we jumped at the opportunity to celebrate an occasion. Every dish was both comforting and satisfying. The cacio y pepe frittelle with tomato jam were the perfect starter along with the paper thin mezzaluna pasta filled with beets in a surprisingly complimentary sauce of lemon and poppy seed. Our mains were a savory pork and saffron ragu with al dente gnocchi and roasted Amish chicken which by far the most succulent chicken I've ever eaten in my years of restaurant dining. Top it off with any of the house-made gelato flavors and you won't care about potholes on the ride home! The food selection for this place is super mid dosent give Italian vibes, instead it's just a pink interior trying to be aesthetic with nice plates & cups. Fiore finally has pasta again. The pork ragu is elevated Chef Boyaredee in all the best nostalgic and warm and fuzzy ways. The pasta is perfectly al dente, the sauce is perfectly salted and seasoned. I love their other offerings as well. Breakfast sandwiches are amazing and well portioned. The hash brown isn't crispy all the way through - only the exterior is a light crisp. The inside is soft and pillowy, a touch of grease. The fried cauliflower has incredible texture (from the nuts) and acid. The arancini is creamy and cheesy in an addictive way. Really love that this spot popped up in the neighborhood. Came in for breakfast on a Sunday. It wasn't crowded but wasn't empty either. We got a coffee, a chai donut, and a "saltie" sandwich. The donut was pillowy soft and pretty big. The chai sugar coating was so delicious. The sandwich was a little crispy on top but the egg and ricotta was dreamy. I really enjoyed it. We have been so thrilled to have this spot in the neighborhood. We order a bunch of things for breakfast to share and I always think it's going to be way too much but it's all so amazing we scarf it down and roll ourselves out of there. I love getting the tomato pies or pizza of the day which seems odd first thing in the morning but that pizza dough they use is to die for. They have a lot of savory pastry options and delicious breakfast sandwiches if you aren't much of a sweets person which I'm not, but even so I can't resist the bombellinos (spelling?) and really all of it. Coffee is also great. The space is small and doesn't have many tables but we usually go during peak times and a spot opens up quickly so we haven't had a problem. Service is friendly and helpful. Really like this cafe. My main criticism is that I find it inconsistent. I've been a few times by now, and love that many of their pastries change every week. Overall, they taste good, but the proofed goods consistently have a yeasty after taste in my opinion. I enjoy their breakfast sandwich as well, but on some weekends it is cooked better than others. Ice cream 10/10. Flavors are awesome and texture truly is the one of Italian ice cream. Fiore has relocated north from its original location and offers a variety of Italian cafe treats ("gelato.pastry.breakfast.lunch") with a few tables available. On the staff's recommendation, I opted for The Breakfast Sandwich with well-made bread. I would have liked a little more heat in the fennel sausage, but that's a personal preference.
