I have now been to K'Far a number of time and it's my go-to place to take anyone who visits for brunch! I love the interior and the gold lights. There are plenty of veg options. The grilled cheese is delicious especially since I don't like the egg and cheese (it has cooper sharp cheese and I do not like American cheese). The ricotta kubaneh toast is on a tangy sourdough bread and is not too sweet. Avocado toast is good too. The borekas are a bit oily for me. Pastries are all phenomenal from the tehina blondie to the walnut babka, chocolate rugelach, to of course the divine pistachio sticky bun. Yemenite latte is flavorful with the spices. Loved the Jerusalem bagels! I got the smoked salmon however I think next time I will get the egg and cheese because I'm more of an egg and cheese kinda gal. It was very filling! I've been a fan of K'Far for several years, but had an experience today that makes me reconsider returning. Came in late afternoon and bought a drink and food but got it in to-go containers since I was waiting on my boyfriend to be done with an appointment and needed the flexibility. I paid and took my food outside and sat down at one of the tables on their patio, which was almost entirely empty--multiple unused tables. Within about five minutes an employee came out and asked me to leave, saying the seating was for dine-in patrons only, not takeout. I guess I could understand such a policy if it was peak hours or they were busy, but as neither of those things was the case...really? Seriously? You're gonna kick a customer out of your restaurant because the food I paid for is in a to-go container rather than in a glass mug, on a patio only one other person was even using during the hot afternoon slump getting close to closing time? Just very poor customer service. read more

Heading to Philly again from the West Coast, I was very much looking forward to coming back to breakfast at K'Far. I was surprised to see it so empty on a weekday morning but the reason soon became clear. I was promptly seated and just as promptly ignored. At least two people seemed to be available for table service but they were too occupied in chatting with each other to notice my existence. Eventually they strolled away and left the room entirely. After sitting for a while longer, I simply gave up and left. So disappointing. If this happens to you, Dear Reader, can recommend the fast friendly service and excellent food at Bluestone Lane Coffee Because my previous visits earned them some loyalty, I might try K'Far one more time when I come back to Philly for work in a few months, if this restaurant survives their staffing issues. read more

Ambiance is great but narrow! We did takeout during the Philly half so it was a little crazy. I tried the pistachio sticky bun. The outer part was soft and delicious but as it was getting closer to the middle, it was a little less soft but more hard. Had to share it with 2-3 other people as it was dense (but expected). I really like the vibe and decoration of the restaurant. It's very appealing. The employees were friendly as well. We ordered take out and got a few Boreka's, a pistachio sticky bun and Marzipan Challah Danish: - The Boreka's were pretty good (tried feta scallion, potato, and artichoke). - The pistachio sticky bun was good, but mine had the shard of a pistachio shell in my first bite. That was a bit disappointing. Fortunately, it was just one piece. - The Marzipan Challah Danish was awesome. I really enjoyed that. I would get that again for sure. Was visiting Philly for the weekend and decided to stop by this cafe after reading good reviews. I was not disappointed! The inside was really cool and it was packed for brunch. There was a huge line of people waiting to put their names down for a table and a slightly shorter line for takeout. We waited about 10 mins to order and another 10 to get our drinks. The service was great. Since the cafe was packed, we all had to watch out for people walking by and sitting near the register/coffee bar. I went with the oat milk latte and this pistachio roll. The latte was good but the pistachio roll was my favorite. One of the best pastries I've had in a while. 10/10 recommend. Whenever I visit Philly again I'll make sure to stop by the cafe. read more

I recently went here with two friends for a weekend brunch and had a good experience. As we did not have a reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes for a table, but it worked out well for us. We received great service throughout our meal and our server gave us great recommendations, in addition to having good conversations. I got the Yemenite Latte, which was rich, creamy, well-spiced, and delicious. We shared the Pistachio Sticky Bun, the Egg and Cheese Jerusalem Bagel, and the Labneh Trio Jerusalem Bagel. The Pistachio Sticky Bun was the best thing we had-rich, flavorful, the right amount of sweetness, lots of pistachios, and buttery. The Egg and Cheese sandwich was solid if unremarkable. The labneh trio was disappointing; the Jerusalem bagel was dry in the middle and the labneh sauces needed a bit more flavor and creaminess. I have always passed by this spot and today was the first time I decided to venture in to check it out...I was not disappointed, and neither should you. From the moment you walk in, I felt like I was stepping into a Tel Aviv cafe. The decor and tables were warm and welcoming, and the music was on point for a Monday morning breakfast. The staff were welcoming and attentive to our requests and needs. I personally ordered the Cinnamon sugar kubaneh toast and our group shared the brown sugar ricotta kubaneh toast. It was my first time here. This cafe is a cute spot nestled in Philly. There was a wait, but it went by pretty quickly after putting my name and number down. We weren't super hungry, but definitely wanted to try some things on the menu. We ordered the Tehina Chicken Caesar Salad and Avocado Kubaneh Toast. The Tehina Chicken Caesar Salad was out of this world. The bagel chips were a nice added surprise crunch that brought a lot of flavor and made this salad very unique along with the dressing! I loved it so much that I ordered another to go! The Avocado Kubaneh Toast was sweet with the Labneh and the bread was thick and fluffy. The avocado was seasoned very nicely. WOW!!!! Came here for a quick breakfast and was completely blown away. We started by sharing the pistachio sticky bun which was incredible. Perfectly sweet but balanced with some crunchy pistachios for texture. Possibly one of the best pastries I've ever tried. For my meal I had their take on "bagels" with smoked salmon. This "bagel" also had cucumbers, pickled red onions, and I'm pretty sure there was some sore of seasoning in there as well well. It was perfect! The bread itself was soft yet crunchy, lox was fresh, balanced amount of cream cheese and toppings. We also tried the orange blossom latte which was just okay but I think this drink would likely be better iced. The restaurant itself isn't too big but there is some additional seating in the back. Our Motto hotel desk clerk, Mo suggested the pistachio sticky bun at K'Far. OMG! This is the best, moist cinnamon bun ever! We had to go back a second morning. The coffee is also very good, and the cafe offers quite a coffee selection, including Yemen, with cinnamon and other spices--yum. I can't give five stars because of an abundance of Canola in the baked goods, not thankfully in the pistachio bun. We hope restaurants will take these industrial seed oils out of their food. They were never intended for human consumption, and are not safe. Several eateries have changed to Sustain, a non-GMO sunflower oil, which is more stable for frying, and a better choice. I have been to K'Far for takeout and dine-in service and both experiences resulted in bland, unimaginative food and really awful service. During my dine-in experience the server flat out forgot my meal and it took another 15 minutes for my avocado toast to appear. It was a cold dish so I have no idea what took 15 minutes after the initial 15 minutes I waited only to uncover that he forgot to put in my order. Way overpriced for something I could have made better at home. Nothing really unique about K'Far and I am so sad because the decor and concept could be awesome if it was well executed and the service was good. Two stars are mostly for the hot Yosemite latte I had in the winter. The iced version just is not the same. read more

Went to the Rittenhouse Farmers Market to shop around and made the wait breeze by! Heard amazing things about the sticky buns, but I needed to try the Jerusalem bagel. If you love a crispy sesame bagel, this is the one for you. It's more flat than doughy, but it is perfectly crunchy. I got the scallion cream cheese one, and the cream cheese was so fresh! We came here on a recommendation. Everything looked scrumptious in the display case as soon as we came in. Service - Rude hostess, sweet waitress The hostess came to greet us and when we indicated we wanted to dine in, she went to look for tables. When she returned she asked indoor or outdoor, and informed us it would be a moment to get the table ready, so we went to look at the treats to prepare our order. She did not like that. She wanted us to wait in the doorway and we asked to look at the display case from off to the side. She very visibly rolled her eyes and said something snotty under her breath. When she seated us, she very starkly told us to keep ourselves within the boundaries of the table, keeping arms and legs and chairs strictly inside the bounds and not to move the chairs. Overall, very harsh and rude woman. Thank goodness we got a very kind waitress to make up for the hostess's behavior. She was even rude to others and they got her as a server too. Bummer for them. Food - delectable Everything we ordered was fantastic. The menu was a bit vague on the bagels so we anticipated the labneh trio to be a sandwich but it was a bagel only with three different spreads (all very good), just not expected when we saw lovely sandwiches coming out from the same section with vague descriptions. The pistachio sticky bun was delicious and not overly sweet but had warm honey squishing out. The chocolate rugelach was very moist and very very sweet but good. The bourekas were both very good, the potato was a bit dry/simple, but the feta was fantastic. The coconut babka was also very scrumptious. The orange blossom latte was fantastic!!!
