The cheese is that cheap powdery chemical cheese that McDonald's uses, and the beans are fer sure canned refried beans. Not only was my meal bland, boring, cheap it made me feel like shit afterwards. KGs sits tucked away off Grant in a little non descript building and serves up some good home style cookin'. I've eater here maybe half a dozen times and enjoy it. I mean it's not spectacular and I am not raving over it but it's almost always a guaranteed good meal, huge portions. There are places I like a lot more in town for this kind of food in terms of quality of products and choice in selection. I like the biscuits and gravy here. Tasty. Gravy was a little too milky once, watery. But nice fluffy biscuits. Good amounts of eggs and the specials are worth nothing. I haven't been here for lunch but I think they're open later now, not sure? I did have a Chef Salad once and was impressed although some of the products kind of tasted like they were almost from a can. Service is always quick and courteous. Good prices. This place is yet another on my list of breakfast places I have been wanting to try. Came in today and it a nice little cozy spot they have there. It is seat yourself so we found our spot. We were welcomed and had drinks in front of us quickly. The menu does have a lot of variety from traditional, to mexican, to sandwiches. I got the usual for me, eggs, bacon, hasbrowns and toast. The food came out extremely fast! My two other guests said the food was pretty good. I enjoyed mine, for some reason I really liked their hashbrowns! One of my other guests was paying, and he would not tell me how much it was, but said he was surprised it cost so much. We went there today, and thought it looked like a cool place in fact we were hoping we had found a new spot nearby us, to regularly visit. My wife did like her hamburger. My eggs, home fries and chicken fried steak were just basically okay but overall really lacked any flavor. Then all of a sudden a waitress starts spraying windex on the front door glass from the outside nearby. The time was a half an hour before closing around 1:30. Then she comes inside and was cleaning the window and table directly behind me, spraying windex. We could smell it strongly! At around 1:45 two more female employees joined her and were cleaning and moving the booths out from the front windows and sweeping and cleaning the floor to wall moulding too. We could smell the ammonia and I should have raised hell had it not been for my wife restraining me. Now I wish I would have anyway regardless, but perhaps this review will suffice. When we were paying... now get this folks ...all the employees were moving all the front booths back from the front windows to clean. They close at 2:00 and they obviously couldn't wait until closing apparently to do all the janitorial stuff, probably because they all wanted to get out of there. God it stunk in there. NEVER AGAIN!! My wife has asthma and had a breathing attack as we are driving down Grant Rd from there. Where's a Health Inspector when you need one? Who manages this outhouse of a cafe? read more

Every time we've been here we've been very pleased with the food and customer service. Not a single thing we've ordered has been disappointing. I really like their daily special menu which has about 5 maybe 6 different options. I usually get their stuffed French toast which is HEAVENLY. This past Saturday I ordered their carnitas special with two eggs, potatoes and tortillas.... It was so tasty and perfectly cooked that I decided to write this review. As good as breakfast can get in Tucson! I LOVE KG's! They have everything from biscuits and gravy to chorizo & eggs for breakfast and specialty sandwiches and burgers for lunch with an extensive Mexican food menu as well. It's one of those "down home" type places with grumpy waitresses walking around carrying 7 plates of food down one arm and tossing them to you across the table. KG's mexican breakfast items are amazing. The flat enchiladas and the huevos rancheros are some of the best in town. No canned beans here, they are made fresh and have a great flavor. We were trying to decide where to go for brunch on Saturday morning. My wife said "I have a coupon for KGs". That turned out to be a great decision. She had a club sandwich and I had a roast beef on rye. Excellent sandwich and the best coleslaw in the city of Tucson. I asked the waitress if she would bring a small bowl of menudo. She told me it was the best and wow she was right. The cleanest and tastiest menudo we have had in a long long time. We go to KGs 3-4 times a year and are never dissatisfied. My family and I were looking for a new breakfast spot to try out, and I've heard great things about KG's Westside Café from a few friends. I must of came to KG'S on an "off day" because the waitresses seemed to wonder around the dining area like they were lost majority of the time . we had to flag down our waitress numerous times to ask for refills of water and coffee. I had French toast and bacon, The French toast was small nothing memorable about it and the bacon was soggy and undercooked. I used my Yelp app to find an inexpensive place to go for lunch last minute on a weekday. I chose KG's based on its reviews and it did not disappoint. Starting off the service was fantastic. But the food was amazing! My husband and I both ordered specials, which were a mere $6.50 and came with a dessert. He had a burger, which he loved, with homemade onion rings (we BOTH loved!). I had a steak salad. I expected the steak not to be great because of the price, but this steak was SO flavorful, perfectly cooked medium-rare and tender.
