Genuinely thought this spot was better than Gai Noi. They give you this complimentary tea to start out with which was super refreshing. Had the shrimp rolls as an appetizer and they were actually really good! The entree that stole the show was definitely the yellow curry, literally delicious, I will be back to get it again. The laksa was also creamy but felt it was standard for that type of dish.
This one is a hard rate, I would give it 3.5/5. I had a lot of high expectations as a lot of friends have been recommending this place. I recently moved from the Bay Area so had a lot of thai, laotian and cambodian food there. I'll try to break down the dishes itself. Duck fried rice: probably my favorite out of the entrees, very flavorful but too salty. It's stronger in flavor but the salt was a bit too much. Laksa: oh man I really wanted to like this one but it's missing the ooomph like someone skipped out on all the fish sauce and strong flavors that make laksa unique. Massaman curry: the beef was try and tough and didn't have much in it overall. If you know massaman you know a big part of it are the potatoes, but there's barely any. Mango salmon: it just tasted like a pan fried salmon, nothing too crazy Overall, it feels like I went somewhere that tried to imitate Laotian flavors. And for the price I likely wouldn't go again. But I will say, the service A+, all the staff were very nice and helpful. Also the vibes are amazing very cute decor. I wish the food matched everything else.
Absolutely delicious and highly recommend. We had the scallops crudo as a starter and the flavor was phenomenal. I will be thinking of how good that dish is for the rest of my life; the coconut milk and lime combined with the texture of fresh seafood really hit the spot! The Thai basil wings and Massaman curry were very yummy also. I enjoyed my meal so thoroughly that I forgot to take many pictures. The presentation on my cocktail (a tonic with vodka and buddha hand fruit) was very pretty. Service was thoughtful and quick. The restaurant itself was beautiful and open and airy -- I almost felt like I wasn't in Minneapolis anymore. We went on a Tuesday, and only drawback I'd say is that the noise level can be a little bit loud due to the acoustics and how the room is one giant space. Otherwise, very happy with the restaurant and would go again.
I have been wanting to try this place for a long time! And boy, it was worth the wait!! Definitely a new top favorite in the twin cities for me!! There is free street parking surrounding this place! There is also valet if you want a more elevated experience. The decor in this place is so warm and welcoming. It feels like you have been transported out of Minneapolis and somewhere in California! Our server and the hostess were both friendly and did a wonderful job! When we arrived we were given a nonalcoholic shot, which was very tasty! This place is pretty strict one sending in your whole order at once, so appetizer and entree go in at the same time. They can stagger how they bring out the dishes though! The food was incredible! We started with the basil wings! Those are a MUST! The wing is so juicy and has great flavor! As entrees, we had the New York strip laab. This is a chilled steak dish. Our steak was more "luke warm" but the flavor was explosive! The steak was also done to a perfect medium the whole way through! The salad was bright and paired so well! This was our favorite dish! The green curry octopus was tender and the green curry tasted so fresh! The peas in this dish felt overpowering and we did not care for them. The scallop crudo was light, melt in your mouth! The coconut milk and citrus paired so well in this dish! Unique! My only complaint was that it was not as pretty as it was on the webpage. For dessert we got some cocktails! Their version of an espresso martini was pretty good but I have had better. The gold coffee bean was a nice touch! The show stopper was the orange blossom pistachio cake! Oh my gosh!!! Each bite just got better!! I will be dreaming of this dessert!! So delicious!! This place is worth the hype and I will definitely be back!!
Khaluna is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis! The flavor profiles here are incredible -- every dish feels thoughtful, unique, and packed with bold Southeast Asian-inspired flavors. It definitely leans more on the $$$ side, but the quality and overall experience make it worth it for a special night out. The vibe of the restaurant is one of my favorite parts though. It has such a warm, stylish atmosphere that feels both upscale and welcoming at the same time. The lighting is cozy, the decor is beautiful without feeling overdone, and the whole space has a trendy but relaxed energy that makes you want to stay awhile. It's perfect for date nights, catching up with friends, or celebrating something special without feeling overly formal. The staff has always been friendly and attentive too, which really adds to the overall experience.
Khâluna is such an interesting spot! The decor is super modern and cute, service staff was excellent, and I could absolutely see them being in the running for a Michelin star one day (like the rumors have been saying!)...but there are a few things that could take the experience to the next level. First, I really wish we had been provided ice for our water since it's served from their room temp tap water vase setup. Also, the menu is VERY hard to read and I had a lot of questions about the ingredients. I just don't feel like our server walked us through the dishes/options very well, which would've helped a ton for first timers! Also, I wanted to try the Massaman for yummy brisket, but sadly they were out of it and didn't let us know until we tried ordering this meal. I wish they were proactive about letting us know it's out. With that being said, the food itself was still very yummy overall! For apps, the Siin Swan (beef jerky) is a MUST! It was a huge portion for the price and honestly one of the best values on the menu. The Thai basil wings were also incredible and definitely worth ordering here (or at Gai Noi or Lat14 if you've never had them before), they're so flavorful and crispy! For the "shareable" dishes, we ordered the green curry octopus and scallop crudo. I'm normally terrified of octopus/tentacles, but this dish was actually super good! The potatoes, peas, and bacon alongside it were delicious. The only thing missing was the green curry sauce didn't have a ton of flavor, which could've been the wow factor that pushed the dish over the top. The scallop crudo was a beautiful presentation, but looked nothing like the photos on Khâluna'a website. It's served cold in a chilled coconut lime broth. I personally LOVE lime and enjoyed it, but everyone else at the table thought it was overpowering. Also, the portion size was shockingly tiny for a dish labeled "to share" and costing $30+. These definitely felt more apps (or even individual entrees) than table shareables. I wish they changed this! The Laksa entrée was SO yummy! The peanut/chili tasting curry broth poured tableside was such a fun touch, and I appreciated it being served separately. Perfectly cooked shrimp, tofu, and all the toppings made this dish one of my favorites of the night. The bucatini, which I believe is one of their signature dishes, was also excellent, but definitely not your classic Italian bucatini, so just know that prior to ordering! It had chili/onion crunch toppings and a very undercooked homemade noodle, but somehow still worked because it was lightly sauced yet packed with flavor. Super unique and delicious! For dessert, the pecan shortbread was amazing with a homemade chocolate mousse that was TO DIE FOR! Don't skip this! Overall, really good eats, beautiful atmosphere, and creative dishes, but definitely a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to portion size and value for the price. I'm curious how their brunch is next!
We returned to Khâluna and again sat at the bar. No one recognized us from past visits, and that was disappointing. I asked our bartender/server to mix me a special cocktail, which happened every other time I was at Khâluna. He looked at me anxiously, and said none of their cocktails matched what I described. "Okay, give me a vodka soda." The staff was professional, but the warmth from the past was missing. The food was still great, but the menu recommendations from this man were perfunctory. "This is our most popular dish." That doesn't describe squat. We still love Khâluna, but on this visit, something was missing. The staff needs to be reminded to be genuine with the diners, and that part of hospitality is warmth and engagement.
Finally stopped by this place for a friend's birthday. The restaurant is beautiful inside with lots of natural light, which made the atmosphere feel really nice. We ordered a few things to share and each got our own dish. I had the Duck Fried Rice, it was ok, but a bit salty for my taste. The birthday girl ordered the Bucatini Talay, and other friend got the Mango Fish and Massaman Curry. The Basil Wings were ok, but the Sakoo was good. Overall, the food was decent, but I felt it was a little expensive for what it was. The space itself is very pretty, so it's still worth trying, especially for a special occasion.
Upscale Laotian food done well. The ambiance is gorgeous albeit a little out of place in my mind. I feel like I need to be on some beach front in the Mediterranean. We made reservations on a Fri for a group of 3 and got seated right on time. To start they gave us a drink taster made of jasmine tea, pineapple and coconut water that was tasty. We decided to get wine but there were quite a few unique cocktail options. Tried a couple reds and they did pair well with the strong flavors of the meal. For food we got the basil wings, green curry octopus, duck fried rice and mango salmon. Best was the duck fried rice, followed by basil wings, green curry octopus and then the mango salmon. The duck fried rice had really good wok hei and the duck was plentiful and cooked well. The basil wings had a nice crispiness and flavor. The tempura jalapeno and basil was really tasty too. The octopus was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and the green curry sauce was delicious. The Chinese sausage got kind of lost though. The mango salmon was the only miss. The mango flavor was mild/barely there. The salmon was a little tough too. It comes with choice of jasmine or sticky rice and we got the sticky rice. Service was very friendly and we never felt rushed. Would recommend trying at least once.
Stunning restaurant with incredible lighting (no big lights here!) and greenery. The patio is huge and is covered. The volume in the restaurant is quite loud, so the patio may be better if you don't want to speak up at the table. Service is on the slower side but the food is worth the wait. -- The Sakoo small plate was an incredible dish! The texture contrast between the filling, chewy exterior, and lettuce shell was fantastic. It was so flavorful and has a bit of a spice kick to it. -- The Mango Fish entree was packed with flavor, and is a very umami-forward dish. The piece of crispy salmon skin on the side is perfectly crunchy and salty. It's a filet of salmon (not a whole fish) and the salmon is nice and buttery. -- The Duck Fried Rice entree had good flavor but the duck meat was dry. It did not come with the duck leg or crispy skin, and instead had chunks of duck meat throughout the dish. This dish has a bit of a spice kick to it. -- The Pistachio Orange Blossom Cake dessert was SO GOOD. I'm not a huge dessert person and I ate every bite of this. The cake is so moist and pairs well with the fluffy mousse covering the cake. The little bits of baklava and orange zest complemented this dish really well.
Khaluna is one of my favorite restaurants in Minnesota. My most recent visit was when my husband took me there for my birthday dinner earlier this month. We ordered a couple of our favorite dishes and tried a couple of new ones. Everything was delicious as usual. Service was very good. Our waitress had a nice little birthday dessert for me with cute candle on it.
Celebrating with family I got to try Khâluna for the first time for brunch. I drive by it often and finally I was going in to try it as they're now offering a brunch menu. Let me start by saying the atmosphere is transporting. From a design perspective It's like you've entered a restaurant in LA or even Bali! I ordered their more refined style Bloody Mary and soaked up the relaxing and chic environment in anticipation of what the food would be like! Every drink was picture worthy and tasted hand-crafted and had its own unique identity without losing its potency. Every dish we thoroughly enjoyed and our table shared everything. Our server was thoughtful and friendly and we appreciated that tremendously as we're somewhat distracted with our own celebrating and chatter. Loved this meal and the ambiance is incomparable. Can't wait to return!
Words literally cannot describe how amazing this food was. I was visiting my friend in Minnesota who is going to law school and I stumbled upon this restaurant before my flight back to California. Honestly I'm so glad this restaurant was in my itinerary. The service here was super friendly we came here for brunch. I didn't know this was considered Lao style cuisine since I haven't really had Laos food like this. Honestly everything here was a 5/5 and I don't say that kindly. This is one of those restaurants you have to try while being in Minneapolis!
Pros: Gorgeous indoor/outdoor space Attentive service Decent amount of variety for bunch options Enjoyed the complimentary rice bites - the sweetness was a surprise Cons: Did not enjoy the breakfast fried rice though it did look lovely (see pic) I am not a fan of Laotian food, so the spices did not agree with me You will be charged a "5% Health and Wellness" surcharge which is super annoying; I'd rather they add this to our meal prices Pro tip: The dishes are presented beautifully, and I applaud their creativity in putting together their menu. Suggestion is to visit during dinnertime as this is likely their sweet spot (not brunch). read more
Khaluna is the place dreams are made of. It's been 24 hours and I'm still blown away. There are no words to describe the ambiance of this place. It is truly dreamy. Airy, neutral, cozy, but light. It's perfection. I made reservations for 8 at 5pm on a Wednesday. I'd strongly recommend making a reservation as they get quite busy. We were seated promptly and served the most DELICIOUS welcome tea I've ever had. Nick was our server and he completely exceeded my expectations. He was attentive, knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, and took such great care of our table. Thank you, Nick! We ordered a few cocktails and mocktails to start. Nick explained them all wonderfully and no one was disappointed. He even made me a small sample of the welcome tea since I loved it so much. For appetizers we started off with the basil wings, shrimp rolls, and chicken samosas. Every single thing we ordered blew me away. The flavor combinations, crispiness of the chicken, the genius idea to tempura basil and jalapeños. Order these and I promise you won't be disappointed. For entrees, we had orders of massaman and red curry. Each comes with either Jasmine or sticky rice. Y'all..... I consider myself a curry aficionado and this was BY FAR the best curry I've ever had. You will have to taste it because there are no words. (Side note: it tastes even better the next day for lunch because you will have leftovers). Overall review: Khaluna is a must try. If you're looking for a vibe, food that is divine, and exceptional service look no further. I really don't believe you could order anything wrong. Khaluna knows flavor, taste, and food. Make a reservation and save yourself the trouble of waiting. Parking is on the street but a short walk will never hurt anyone. Khaluna, you are now one of my favorites and I look forward to putting this in my rotation. read more

Every dish is so thoughtful and well executed! Amazing dinner. We started with the chilled asparagus salad. My favorite dish! We enjoyed the green scallop curry and the yellow butternut squash curry. So delicious. We ended the meal with the orange cake and it was divine! Not too sweet. Service was amazing! Great experience. read more
One of my favorite fine dining places in the Twin Cities. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so aesthetically pleasing, light, open, airy, and in the summer fresh breezy air. On my most recent visit our server was probably one of the best servers I've had at any restaurant. So attentive (and patient of our big indecisive group). And even had a whole lighting production set up to take a group photo for us. It's truly just such a lovely experience. Then of course the food is absolutely phenomenal. The flavors are so rich and complex, but it all just feels so simple and warming. I forgot to take pictures of a couple things, the basil wings and our dessert were both great as well. There is also an incredible non-alcoholic cocktail list! It can get pricy, but it is 100% worth the value. read more

This gets five stars for the lovely ambiance, fantastic food, and high quality service. Our favorite entree was the red curry chicken. My favorite appetizer was the shrimp spring rolls and my husband liked the Basil chicken wings. I liked the Sok Dee cocktail and Lost in Laos was decent too. Both recommended by the server. Our server Zach was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made our dining experience very enjoyable. Make reservations in advance since this place is very popular. It was a full house at 6 PM on Saturday night. We will definitely be back! There are more menu items I want to try. And it's great for special occasions. read more

The interior is giving Tulum! It's beautifully decorated and the staff is very attentive. The basil wings were perfectly crunchy and spicy. I highly recommend the biscuit & gravy - the biscuit was warm and buttery and the Lao sausage was very flavorful. I would definitely come back! read more

I absolutely love the ambience and decor of the restaurant. It's a great place for a group dinner, perfect for sharing dishes family-style. We ordered about 50% of the menu. The chicken wings had a crispy outer layer and were juicy on the inside, with fried basil adding a lovely aromatic touch. The slin swan/dried beef had a strong meat flavor, but the other ingredients didn't quite stand out; I wished they had more seasoning and aroma. The red snapper crudo was fresh and enjoyable, though I would have liked the sauce to have a bolder flavor. The bucatini was delicious, while the mango fish didn't quite impress me, as the fish seemed to need a bit more salt during marination before frying. read more

A great place to try out new dishes in a really beautiful space. We made a dinner reservation for three on a Thursday night, and I'm glad we did because it was packed. The space is huge and there are tables for many different group sizes. We each got drinks (I got the Strawberry Limeade), and we split three entrees: the Massaman, Mango Fish, and Pork Belly. Each dish was flavorful and perfectly textured. My partner and I were in town to visit so we came to celebrate his sister's birthday early, and everyone we interacted with wished her a happy birthday. She even got her choice of sorbet on the house. We also ordered the Pistachio Cake to split. One small thing to note: during our meal, something black floated down from the ceiling and landed in our curry (I fished it out with my knife in the last photo). We were almost done with our meal at that point so didn't bother telling the staff. Overall though, we really enjoyed our meal and appreciated how attentive the service was. Definitely on the expensive side, so I would really only come back for a special occasion. read more
Khâluna provided us a spectacular dining experience this evening. Add this to your Twin Cities dining bucket list for intriguing and delicious southeast Asian food in a beautiful environment. Khâluna's interior is on point--it's modern, open, and bright and has great use of wood in varying colors and finishes. It also has some of the loveliest bathrooms in the Cities. The clean and crisp interior is matched by the quality service--expect friendly, knowledgeable, and talented people from the moment you enter the property. The food? Amazing! They have a great selection of beverages, including wonderful non-alcoholic options that are created with the same high level of creativity and sophistication that went into everything else that came to our table. They also have a pretty awesome list of alcoholic options. (Put another way, their beverage menu will make everyone happy, whether they enjoy beer, wine, spirits, or cocktails.) The food was a true pleasure. I had the sakoo for my starter, and it's unlike anything I've had before. Golfball-sized tapioca pearls stuffed with delicious fillings that included mushrooms and pickled radishes. They were topped with a crispy seasoning that tickled the tongue. I took my server's advice and used a lettuce leaf to pick it up. It was a good idea--you don't lose a bit to spillage! I ordered the laksa for my main, as I haven't had Malaysian curry in at least two decades. Like Indy, I chose wisely. This dish is good. Tender noodles were topped with beautifully-arranged crispy tofu, crunchy peanuts and and tart pickled vegetables. Next to it? A jug filled with the Malaysian curry broth to pour over everything. If you're a fan of southeast Asian, don't miss this dish. It has elements that will remind you of Vietnamese, Thai, and Indian. (I put a bit of our mak pet--Lao roasted green chili sauce--in mine. It added a bit of heat that I found quite pleasant.) This is a good one. For dessert, we couldn't pick, so we got all three. This included the passion fruit cremeux, the spiced mango cake, and the steamed chocolate cake. The pastry chef here is a miracle worker of some sort. Everything was fantastic. The black sesame crumble that came with the chocolate cake was sell your soul good. The cake and ice cream was stomp your momma good. The accompaniments to the mango cake were shockingly good (as in if I were studying to be a pastry chef, I would have cried because I would have immediately known that I could never create anything so beautiful). Amazing brunch experience with a very decorated and bright sitting area. The workers were attentive and friendly during our brunch. The food was beyond delicious and love the seasoning they put on the potatoes and chicken wings. Sadly we had this on our last day of Minnesota, so it made us miss it more. Can't wait to come back and to try their dinner menu. read more
Worth it! Worth the prices, worth the hard to get reservations, worth the wait before you get to go. Everything was amazing! The Khaluna old fashioned is sooo good. I ordered the chicken samosas-amazing. Then the chicken red curry-beyond delicious. Got to try my husband's massaman-superb. The ambiance is relaxing. Even in the middle of winter you would feel like you are on a patio somewhere warm. Make your reservation today to try this place! read more

Fantastic! Can't wait to go back! Great service and even better food. And such a beautiful place. We got the Sakoo appetizer which was very tasty, especially with the spicy sauce they give you. The texture of the tapioca was a little weird but I still ate them all up. For entrees we split the chicken red curry and duck fried rice. Both were incredible!!!! Both of them had tender meat and complex flavor profiles. The curry had a nice spice level. Totally over ate because they were so good and the portions were surprisingly generous! We took some home! The waiter suggested that we put the Sakoo sauce on the rice which was a fantastic suggestion! My husband got the sorbet and I got the Robert Redford for dessert. Both were good... maybe would have enjoyed them more if we hadn't eaten so much dinner! We both got a couple drinks too- the shrub, and Sok Dee were great. The waiter was entertaining and attentive and knowledgeable. The ambience is so refreshing, calming, interesting, yet simple. Loved the lights on the tables. We'll be back! read more
Khâluna is super amazing with cozy vibes and unique dishes! The staff was super friendly and walked us through the menu on her recommendations for the cocktail, food and even side dishes. Laab heed: This was the highlight of our dinner. Super refreshing but yet full of flavors. While reserving all the mushroom tastes, every bite was unique based on what herb you had. The dish serves amazing as a starter. Gaeng toon: Striped bass in a sour curry broth. This was my first time having any type of curry broth so it was very special for me. The watercress tasted so good when merged with the broth. Goes super well with sticky rice (recommended by staff). Pork belly with some salad and cabbage wrap (forgot the exact name): The pork belly was super soft and tender and on the sweeter side, and the salad was very citrusy and full of acidic flavors. A very sweet and sour combo together with the cabbage wrap. Another refreshing start for the meal. Sake parfait (forgot the exact name from dessert menu): It was amazing how the parfait was able to reserve the sake aroma while having its sweetness elevated to another elegant level. The only regret was not having much more space to order even more food. Khâluna is definitely on my must-come-back list every time I visit Minneapolis. read more

We flew in from LA to Minneapolis and discovered this restaurant on TikTok. I accidentally made a reservation for the wrong date, but the staff was incredibly sweet and accommodating. They were able to seat us at the bar, and the entire experience was amazing. I highly recommend sitting at the bar--it offers direct service, and they have an exclusive menu alongside the main restaurant menu. We ordered the curry ravioli, green curry with scallops, crab fried rice, duck laab, and the Robert Redford (a pecan shortbread dessert). Everything was delicious, beautifully plated, and honestly, it surpassed any Michelin-starred restaurant I've been to. The portion sizes were generous, especially the amount of meat in each dish, and the dessert was perfectly balanced--not too sweet. The service was exceptional in every aspect, and the restaurant had a beautifully aesthetic atmosphere. It's perfect for a date night or a girls' night out! I'd honestly come back to Minneapolis just for this restaurant. Highly recommend! read more

The Food was fantastic ! Highly recommend ordering all kinds of apps and main course and having everyone share family style it's how friends and I did it!! Highly recommend chicken basil , shrimp roll , sakoo and well you can't go wrong with anything here ! Every dish has a distinguish flavor to offer! I'd love a hints of coconut throughout your meals!! The servers were fantastic , perfectly well lit yet felt very warm and welcoming as your seated. Don't forget to check out the shop around the corner that is part of the restaurant!! ***Recommend valet parking ( can get that added to your bill ) let your server know! ** *** recommend reservations, but they are open to seat you as a walk in, we never had to wait that long ** read more

Started off with the coffee and A Non- Alcoholic cocktail. We ordered the Mango Snapper and the BUCATINI TALAY. Both plates were delicious. Fish is fried in its own oil. The dessert was our favorite part of the night which never happens but this time it was! The Pistachio Baclava Cake was a 100/10 and a must have. We are making reservations for brunch soon. The ambiance is perfect and our server was knowledgeable about the whole menu and very welcoming. read more
The yellow curry was amazing. I'm a pescatarian, so it was great that the menu has vegan, dairy free, and gluten free options. Great flavor and portions. The service was phenomenal!! I went twice with friends and got the same thing. But tried the fish and other curry (no meat). Everything was amazing. Good vibes and better food. read more
My meal at Khaluna with my friend was probably one of the best culinary meals I've had! Everything was absolutely delicious and the restaurant itself is also so beautiful. This was my first experience with Laotian food and I was very impressed with every single dish from start to finish. We started with the Sakoo as our appetizer. Who knew that Dumplings with the outside made out of Tapioca would be so delicious? Every bite had a such great flavor and I absolutely loved it. Afterwards, we had the Duck Fried Rice and the Yellow Curry. My friend recommended the Duck Fried Rice and it was so satisfying. Their yellow curry was also delicious and presentation of the curry was so on point. Lastly, we ended our meal with one of the desserts - the passion fruit cremeux and it was not only so aesthetically presented well, but absolutely delicious. It's topped off with Coconut Ice Cream and every bit has so many flavors going into it. The food here is probably some of the most delicious I have ever had and service here was also absolutely outstanding and I'm really glad I had the chance to dine here while visiting the Twin Cities! read more

Our experience hosting a private event at Khâluna's private "Shop" room was nothing short of spectacular. We booked out their private building and patio next to the main dining space for a post-elopement reception. We were able to pick appetizers, main courses, and desserts for a family-style dinner with 16 guests. For appetizers, we enjoyed: - basil wings - kick of spice, and delicious - especially the tempura jalepenos on the side - chicken samosas - delicious curried potatoes inside too - sakoo - a must try! mushrooms and nuts inside a tapioca ball - siin swan - like the best beef jerkey you've ever had - rainbow rice - a nice side, fresh and vibrant For entrees we had: - bucatini talay - seafood pasta with perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp - massaman - my favorite - a must! beef short fib with curry broth and hazelnuts - duck fried rice - the duck confit leg was the star of the show - chicken red curry - I liked the other two curries better, but awesome sauce - yellow curry - delicious veg curry with butternut squash For dessert we had: - steamed chocolate cake - this was a flourless chocolate cake, so dense and rich - I forgot the names of the other two, but one was a more custard dish and the other was a bread pudding type dish - both incredible! The prices listed below reflect a 3-hour event, room rental and food and beverage minimum. We all enjoyed cocktails and mocktails during our private time - incredibly stunning and well-made drinks all around. Some great gin and Japanese whisky options! Sunday through Thursday the private dining space is a $200.00 room rental and $1,300.00 food and beverage minimum, which we easily hit with drinks and our spread. We were all so full and had leftovers to take home. Service was lovely - we had one staff member who was with us making cocktails and managing the entire time - he talked through each dish, and brought in extra staff to serve the entrees and explain each dish. 100/10 recommend a private event here! read more

So first things first I don't know why I waited soo long to visit here! Here is my long review ... I had an amazing experience here with a friend for dinner. We didn't have any expectations,I tried not to look ahead at the menu or reviews and I was so overjoyed! Yay! Every dish we ordered was perfection from start to finish . First off the space is beautiful and comforting and busy but it wasnt crazy loud as in good acoustics. Seems lately all these new trendy restaurants are too loud where you can't have a conversation at your table without shouting. This was not like that at all. I knew I was in for a treat when they started off with a welcome tea drink, I can't even describe what all the flavors were but it was yum Their menu is designed to be shared but obviously you don't have too We ordered the Sakoo off the small plates. Now this was soo unique to me and something I would normally never order as I do not appreciate the texture of a tapioca ball. These were very gelatinous BUT the filling inside was delicious and I didn't care about that after my first bite. I want to warn you that the food presentation here is as quality as a Michelin but also the taste is 5 stars which is hard to come by in the cities My friend and I then ordered the rainbow rice off the chilled plates menu Almost too pretty to eat ,I could eat this for lunch everyday you could taste every flavor and texture of this dish Next we shared the Massaman curry and the Bucatini Talay- wow!! Basically my friend moaned her way through the meal(happy good noises!!) and I wanted to cry tears of joy,I was just so happy to be eating this food after a crummy stressful day. This curry was sooo delicious and comforting better than the other ones I have tried at other restaurants and the Bucatini- let's just say I'm so surprised how it tasted like a mix of Italian but with Asian flavors so unlike anything I've eaten before. Every thing was cooked perfectly and our server was amazing and helpful So even though we were stuffed I knew we had to order something sweet as I knew it would be special Now we ordered the pistachio orange cake - I can't remember the description but it had bits of baklava crumbles and it was epic! So light and refreshing I ordered another to take home for my husband! I also ordered the basil wings to take home and I sneaked in one bite and they were amazing too Great cocktail list- I wasn't aware of half the alcoholic ingredients so went with the servers choice and it was delicious So yes I will definitely be back and will bring friends and relatives here I would put this restaurant in my top 5 dining experiences here in MN! Service was very attentive and provided great recommendations. The establishment was very helpful with allergies- going as far as to re-label a menu for me, making substitutes as needed. Great tapas, the best bucatini in my life. As someone who loves tom yum and pasta the Bucatini Talay was a dream come true. & as always, the basil wings are a must try when visiting any of Chef Ann Ahmed's establishments The ambiance was like being transported to a sunset evening Southeast Asia restaurant. I loved this place! Came here with my book club and I really enjoyed myself. The tables are arranged in a way where you are not next to other tables and it's just a very zen and balanced vibe. The menu is limited but in a good way. I got the Bucatini Talay and I already can't wait to go back and get it again. The flavors were well balanced without in-your-face spice. The shrimp and scallops were perfectly executed. The only thing I I didn't love was the drink; none of the drinks on the menu sounded great and the rum-based old fashioned was very much just ok (in my opinion). Would love to see something fruity but not too sweet join the mix. read more

We have been wanting to come here for awhile and got to stop last night before going to see Paul Simon. Our reservations were for 5:30 and the dining room was just starting to get busy. Our server was fast and friendly and started us off with a little fruit tea to welcome us. We proceeded with cocktails my wife got the savory inferno while I ordered the szechuan sour. Both of the drinks were delightful with the inferno being lighter on the spice than what we were expecting and the sour having the tongue numbing sensation due to the Sichuan peppercorns...fun cocktails for sure. We followed our drinks with shrimp rolls which just spectacular. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and peanut sauce with them made every bite a treat. As for the entrees my wife ordered the duck fried rice and I chose the green curry and scallops. We always try to decide who got the better dish and while my scallops and curry was delicious it did seem a little light as an entree. I'm comparing it to the sister restrictions Gai Noi and their green curry dish and just falls a little short. So my wife's Duck fried rice was the winner. Omg, it was just a flavor bomb, beautiful duck, crispy duck skin, a sneaky little bit of spice in it. It was a 10 of 10 whereas my scallops were an 8.5. So while we worked on our entrees we got a other round of drinks. My wife tried the purple & pear bramble while I had the Makku beer. These were wonderful and unique and great complement ls yo our entrees. We both highly recommend visiting this place! read more

We came right when they opened on a Sunday morning. Lots of seating, didn't need a reservation. Service was okay, the table of 2 adjacent to us seemed to have a very attentive waiter who made good conversation, while our waitress did not engage in any further conversation with us to make us feel welcomed. The food however was good. They started us off with complimentary welcome bites of coconut sticky rice, which was delightful as a starter. We ordered the Duck Congee and Fried Chicken & Khao Chee. The duck congee was super flavorful and the meat was basically falling off the bone. Love that it also came with patongo. The fried chicken & khao chee was fine but a little too sweet for our liking, there was one main flavor from the sauce that overpowered the dish, wish there were other components of the dish to change up the flavor because we got tired of the taste pretty quickly. We wanted to order so many more things on the menu since everything sounded delicious, but maybe next time! The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, great ambiance with a lot of outdoor natural lighting. Overall had a pleasant brunch and I would come again to try other foods when I'm in town again! read more
Holy moly! First it's like walking into heaven. The interior/exterior is ethereal and the lighting makes all these beautiful people look like supermodels. Emily, our server, was helpful, super kind, knowledgeable, gracious-- just like an angel. Dude the food is so damn delicious. Chicken curry is so freaking extreme but so good--smoky to the edge of tobacco, gritty texture on the edge of eating dirt. Chicken perfectly cooked, deboned sliced with crispy skin. This crazy noodle dish that is THE BEST NOODLE DISH IVE EVER HAD. Crazy with shrimp, scallops, spicy dry crumble?! with thick homemade noodles just wet with oil but not greasy. Just freaking crazy good food. And dude all the best looking people in America eat here. read more
If you're looking for a sign to go to Khaluna, this is it. Khaluna might be the best restaurant I've been to in all of 2023. First, it's beautiful inside - every inch is perfectly designed and gorgeous. Many places try for this level, but don't make it - Khaluna has done it effortlessly. We went for a Sunday brunch, definitely make a reservation. While it wasn't super packed, people were waiting for a table on our visit, although the tables do move pretty quickly since the food come out quickly. As for beverages, we loved the coffee and the chai - we weren't drinking, but both of those beverages were tasty and just a bit different than most other places adding to the uniqueness. It's too difficult to say my favorite dish - I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken wings. The rub was perfectly distributed and never overpowered. I wasn't expecting the friend jalapeños, but they were also in the great breading with the rub - and not spicy. I also will get the pineapple noodles on my next visit, hands down. I love pineapple and the cold noodles with shrimp was a great combination. I heard this was an all-star and it didn't disappoint. Lastly, the french toast with chai was delicious. I'm not usually a french toast person, but the nuances of this made it scream to me and I'm glad it did. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu, everything we had was perfect. read more
This is more fine dining with not so typical food options. Similar to Hawaiian food. Seafood and duck options. Beautiful plating. If you want to play safe order the basil wings , the japs are not spicy. Crap fried rice was safe, but my pregnant savage self was wanting some soy sauce or yum yum sauce. I came here for my birthday and I was not disappointed! First of all the vibe is airy and I love the touch to the southeast Asian vibe they were going for. We made a reservation day of but keep in mind this was a Monday! Service was amazing and they really went out of the park to make me feel special for my birthday! First we got the basil wing and omg delicious! They do have a little kick to them. Then I got the mango lassi as a non alcoholic beverage and it was so refreshing hitting the spot on a warm evening! My fiancé got the laaksa and it looked delicious with the shrimp. I got the massaman and it was absolutely delicious! Then they gave us a free dessert and we also got the mango cake and it was amazing and to top it off they gave us a Polaroid to commemorate the night! Already thinking about my next visit to Khaluna! Khâluna is an awesome restaurant and was the first time I tried Laotian food! It's pretty popular so I recommend making a reservation more than a week early if you plan to come during a weekend evening. The decor in their main room us stunning! I loved the oversized lights and very comfy looking seating. We dined on their covered and heated patio on a very rainy evening and stayed warm. Everything on the menu sounded appealing but we went with the wings (appetizer), duck fried rice, and chicken red curry. We rounded out the meal with the mango cake. Everything was divine and I recommend sharing. The red curry sauce was a nice addition to the duck fried rice. We also enjoyed the complimentary juice they bring to all tables, and the surprise of complimentary champagne they brought since we were celebrating our anniversary! For those who do not drink, they have an incredible menu of nonalcoholic cocktails and even NA wines! I took off one star because service and food took forever. Our waiter was exceptional but it took quite a while for him to come when we arrived, and there was close to an hour between getting our appetizer and our mains. Not sure what was happening in the kitchen but we were quite hungry by the time it arrived! Will definitely be back! read more
Came here for brunch on a Saturday with some friends. They open at 10am and our reservation was for 10 so we were some of the first people in the restaurant. It was beautiful weather outside so they had their large doors/windows open and it was a very airy and comfortable vibe in the whole restaurant. Tons of luscious greenery surrounding you which was quite nice! We were started with drinks and then a free appetizer bite which was coconut sticky rice balls which were delicious and just made us want more food. I got the Tom Kem, which was pork belly, pickled, greens, carrots, and jasmine rice. It was divine! The flavors of the whole dish combined to something really special. My company got the Mushroom Congee and the Duck congee, both of which were also equally delicious! I plan to go back to try their other brunch items as well as their full menu! Ambiance: I was absolutely floored by the decor! It was a great combination of trendy and sophisticated. I felt like I was dining in a fine lounge. Everything was very clean, all the furniture was super modern and comfortable, and the entire seating area was spaced out so that everyone could enjoy their privacy Service: I am very happy with our service. Our waiter checked in with us at least a few times to make sure our beverages were topped off and the food was to our liking. He was super knowledgeable about all the items on the menu, and was able to make great recommendations. We were in town visiting some friends and they brought us here! Khaluna is a Laotian restaurant with a resort style decor and open-air ambiance with one whole wall open to their large outdoor patio. We had a late reservation at 9:15pm on a Saturday night and the place was still quite busy. Unfortunately, we still had to wait at least 20+ minutes to be seated with a reservation. They have a drink menu that even has a full section of mocktails which was fun to see! We all got drinks and everyone thought they were delicious. Our waitress also brought out complimentary small cups of a unique tea for us to try at the beginning. The food menu consists of small plates and entrees. We ordered the Siin Swan (dried ginger sesame beef) which was brought out quickly. However, we waited close to an hour for the remainder of our food. This was disappointing because it was already late, so we ended up not eating until after 10:30pm! However, the food was certainly worth the wait. We went with the Massaman, Chicken Red Curry, and Duck Fried Rice. We also got a few small sides of sticky rice. Getting a rice dish with the Massaman and Chicken Red Curry is a must because there's far more liquid/broth than anything else. Having some rice ensures you get to continue enjoying the flavors of the dish after the limited meat/veggies are gone. The Massaman was the crowd favorite; the beef short rib was so tender and the flavors of the curry broth were excellent. The Duck Fried Rice was definitely a step up from the sides of sticky rice, it was impressive how much you could still taste the duck among the rest of the rice and vegetables. The Red Curry was our least favorite, it was pretty small and didn't come with much. The broth in this one was inferior to the Massaman broth, in our opinion. Overall, the food here is impressive and I would recommend splitting several different menu items so you get to try a variety of their dishes. We loved sitting outside on the patio, the ambiance is lovely and they even have heat lamps for if it starts to get cool. The service and long wait (even with a late night reservation) is the main reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. read more
