Our dishwasher was leaking water badly and after reviewing companies on Yelp we decided to give Kh Appliance a call. I spoke to Mike who was able to come out the next day. Mike did and outstanding inspection of the dishwasher and explained the problem with it. He took the time to fully explain the problem and the issues he saw with repairing it. It seems the manufacturer upgrade the design due to the leaking problem we had. So, in essence Mike was open and honest with us and we decide the fix may not solve the problem, so we decided to purchase a new unit. So, Mike put me first and you can't ask for more than that. Terrific! So I visit my son and do one load of laundry in the fancy computerized washer and promptly screw the whole machine up. Mike was there within the hour and took a short time to fix it (computer reset type of thing, not something we could have dealt with). 'Zero' for customer service consideration. You decide. I know Mike gets all 4/5's that is why I used him in the first place, so this experience was a shocker. My 'newer' Whirlpool freezers coil froze over in 9/14. Mike came out, replaced the defrost timer, as I watched. I saw him disconnect wires and run tests and on his return a couple days later, I oversaw the timer replacement. Everything worked fine. Total time of fix (both appearances) was maybe 1/2 hour. My family and I then went on an extended trip (7 weeks) and returned the middle of Nov. Infrequently, I opened the freezer and noted it was cold; seemed fine. In Dec. (before Christmas) I noted the freezer was cold but the coil again was freezing over because the vents were getting covered in ice.....same as before. I emailed Mike on 1/2/15. I then disconnected the freezer, removed the coil cover, noted the almost solid block of ice on the coil, and defrosted the coil as I had done in Sept. (Mike directed me to do this in Sept) After the ice melted on the coil I noted that several, matching, (mail to female) wire connections were not attached. After extensive internet searching I saw a diagram of my freezers defrost system, clearly showing the connections (to the defrost heater) and they were connected, Clearly, the defrost heater was not connected (operable), at all. I surmised that Mike had run a continuity test (disconnecting the heater ends) and failed to reconnect the heater. I called Mike and told him but he was busy on another job and he told me he would look at his schedule and get back to me. He emailed me with a day and time and told me that "he wanted to let me know that the minimum charge is $75". I immediately emailed him back and told him that the charge was unfair if he made the mistake and this was "not good business." Mike emailed me and told me to call him, which I did. I told him of my observations and he told me that I would have seen the freezing over of the coil after 10-14 days, and I was beyond the 'warranty' time. I told him I would at least expect him to come out and see if he left the connections unattached and if he did, he should not charge me for the fix. He replied that the $75 was his charge and I " had (2) options..pay the $75 of find someone else" I told him he had a poor business attitude and hung up. I attached the defrost heater wires, on both ends, and turned on the freezer. That was 1/3/15; installed a thermometer and my freezer has stayed at 0 degrees since, with no ice/frost build up. I am a retired, senior citizen, very mechanically inclined, with no ulterior motive other than to describe my dealings with Mike. There is no embellishment of this experience. You be the judge. Mike came out to fix two 12 year old refrigerators: GE and Sub Zero. First setting up the appointment was quick and simple and he'll communicate through whatever means is most convenient for you: phone, email, text and he was able to get to us within a day. He's a very polite person and someone I was comfortable leaving alone so I could continue working. He explained the issue clearly and showed me exactly what he worked on and gave me options for fix (mostly it's fixed now, how to check if the issue is coming back, and the cost to replace parts). In the case of my subzero it's been fine but my GE broke about 48 hours later due to a fried chip so I just texted Mike to buy the part and as soon as it arrived he texted me back and got it replaced. EXCELLENT SERVICE! This was truly a 5-star service call as everyone else has rated! The appointment took one day to confirm. Mike was on time as expected. Within 5 minutes of his arrival, he was able to identify the problem with my 20-year old Thermador range. It was great when he told me that this was repairable. Even though the problem turned out to be a bit more extensive than he had anticipated, he was quick to report back and didn't waste time to complete his repair. I called Mike last month regarding my microwave that was making an unusual sound and giving off a burning smell. (He may ask you to send him an email when you call on some basic details, but that method was quite efficient for both of us). He responded the same day and promptly diagnosed the problem. He said he would need to order parts and returned two days later to make the repair. It did cost over $400, but Mike was upfront about that on his first visit. Since the microwave also controlled the functions of the oven below, we decided it was worth the repair cost rather than have to replace both appliances. We would highly recommend Mike! Very happy with Max's maintenance and repair of my washer and drier. Max was prompt, professional and knowledgeable with his work and recommendations.
