I noticed my refrigerator and freezer not work on a Thursday morning. I called a few places for quotes and Mike was the only one who promised to come out that day to look at the unit. He was able to diagnose the problem within 15 min (great for me because I went home during my lunch break at work to meet him) and provided a quote within 2 hours after confirming the parts were available on Friday. We initially scheduled a Friday afternoon appointment to for the repair but due to some scheduling issues on my side I had to move it to Monday afternoon. I messaged Kh Appliance repair last night (Sunday) and was pleasantly greeted with a message this morning that a technician could come out to look at the problem the same day. I was told that he had limited English skills, but so far it has been just fine. "Max" looked at my dryer and found the problem. He is now consulting with the owner to find the right parts, and let me know when it can be repaired. He even came back to check one more thing and by doing so, we found that it will be a much less costly repair. He responded very quickly by email ... and we easily setup an appointment time for the next day. It is true ... my experience with Mike is that he is very knowledgeable and professional ... and his expertise in fixing our Thermador oven was A+. He knew what he had to do to diagnose and he moved systematically through it. Because I was hanging around watching ... (being a gadget guy, I like to observe these things ...) he informed me what he was doing and then when it became clear what the likely problems would be, he informed me on the likely costs ... depending on the final diagnosis. Then when the problem was finally determined, he fixed it and charged me as per what he had said. He was very focused on his work .. he would have to if he is good ... because this is ELECTRICAL appliance work ... and also potentially complex work. But nevertheless, he informed me when he had something relevant to tell me. He also shared tips on how to maintain and properly use the appliance. The fee he charged us was very reasonable. He included the trip/diagnosis charge into the total price .. which was very reasonable. We will definitely call on him again for service on our other appliances in future. Hard to believe that GE would design an oven that would require disassembly to change a single light bulb, but such was the case. Mike was on time, extremely efficient and reasonably priced. His technical acumen was apparent in the disassembly, repair, reassembly and testing of the oven. Sufficed to say this is important, but the care he took in completing the repair was most remarkable. He came prepared with shoe booties to protect the hardwood floors and made sure to lay out the oven on a covered surface. I have had only very positive experience with it on two occasions now in the past 2 - 3 years when needing time sensitive assistance to repair a flooded stackable washing machine. This particular model washer came with the place we bought a few years ago and is a not very common (non-US) model appliance. It has had a need for servicing repair now twice since our move-in. Each time, KH was able to immediately and effectively identify the problem and perform the servicing and repair needed. Sadly, my experience with KH wasn't as spectacular as others has been. We moved into a new home recently and noted that the oven door both would not fully close and will just fall open if not held all the way down. I assumed it was bad hinges and called KH to get them replaced. The gentlemen arrived during the allotted time window, looked at the oven and said he was unable to help because the model number had been somehow erased and was missing. "That will be $75.00 please". So I went out on line, and within (I kid you not) 4 minutes I had a model number and within another 3 I had the hinges in a "to buy" basket. Before I placed the order I called KH again and asked "so, what's our next step?" (I didn't want to place an order for parts if he was already doing the research on his end). What I was told was "without a model number I can't help you. Our only choice would be to dissemble the oven to remove the hinges and take them to try to match up...with no guarantee we'll be able to do so, and it will cost two additional service charge fees plus parts". I asked if he would come back to install them if I purchase the hinges myself and he said "just get me the model number and I'll get the hinges" Sigh, although I do understand at least partially his situation - customers will often buy the incorrect or the cheapest aftermarket parts and then the installer is left dealing with whatever mess the customer has caused trying to save some dollars - but to take my money and then make no effort at all to find the information, as I did on line, feels like poor customer service to me. If anyone cares, I purchased those factory Dacor oven hinges I had in my shopping basket and took the door apart to install the darn things myself. Wasn't easy, there is a trick to getting it done, but it now works like it should and since I did it myself I was able to clean all the nooks and crannies while I was I there - yay! read more

Very pleased with Mike and his service. He responded very quickly to my inquiry on Yelp website. Set up appt for a Tues afternoon. He arrived within the time frame quoted. Was very knowledgeable and figured out why the dishwasher wasn't draining -- small piece of hard plastic clogging the line near aerator. Diagnosed quickly and gave good tips on dishwasher maintenance. He let us know beforehand that the minimum charge was $95 to come out. Total charge was $125, and he was here for less than 30 minutes. Our washer drum starting making a loud noise and then refused to spin. I suspected a broken/worn belt. I called Sears, where we purchased the washer, and was told that the first service appointment was 10 days away. I then searched YELP and decided to call Kh appliance repair, based on numerous favorable reviews. Mike, the owner of Kh, was very pleasant. He scheduled the intital service within 24 hours of my call and diagnosed the problem on the first visit. It was not a belt, but a stripped pulley. Mike indicated he would need to order a part and would contact us once he could determine availablity and price. Mike called the very next day, indicating that he had located the part and requesting authorization to purchase and complete the repair at what was a very fair and reasonable price. We authorized the work and asked Mike to contact us when the part arrived. Well, he had it the very next day, installed it, tested it and our washer once again works like new. KH was excellent and Mike was great at fixing my Thermador microwave. Here's the letter I sent to Thermador Appliances. October 12, 2011 BSH Home Appliance Corporation Attn: Thermador Customer Support Manager 5551 McFadden Avenue Huntington Beach, CA, 92649 Dear Thermador: I purchased a Thermador 27" Triple Oven (Convection Oven, Microwave and Warmer) in September 2008. On September 30, 2011, I called Thermador's customer support and reported that the mircowave (model MBBS/01) was inoperative. The Microwave did not warm the food and there was a burning smell when the microwave was turned on. On October 5, 2011 a Thermador/BSH serviceman conducted a service call. After less than an hour, he informed me that the microwave was inoperative because the both magnetron and transformer needed replacement. He further stated that the job required two people to remove and reinstall, since both the oven and the microwave were embedded in one single frame and, "was too heavy for one person to move." He then quoted a price of $125 per hour per person for the labor as well as a combined cost $300 for the new transformer and magnetron. Therefore, the total initial cost of repair would begin at $550 and would increase depending upon the length of time required for repair and re-installation. I was skeptical of the estimate and a bit incredulous that a Thermador appliance would become inoperative only after several years of normal use. Therefore, I called KH Appliances for a second opinion. KH's servicemen, Mike, inspected the microwave and identified the culprit as the failure of the high voltage diode. Mike replaced the $11.50 diode by himself in less than one hour and only charged me $200 for parts and labor! It's transparent that your service representative lacks basic familiarity of the product and insufficient expertise of how to repair such appliances. Empowering service representatives to give customer quotations based upon faulty knowledge and incomplete understanding of the product is a costly disservice to Thermador customers. Thermador/BSH's training program, assuming the existence of such, for service representatives is obviously suspect. Given my frustrating experience with your service representative as well as the myriad of consumer choices available in the from Wolf, Miele, Dacar and other reputable quality kitchen appliance companies, it is highly doubtful that Thermador will be my choice when I plan to remodel kitchen next year. I found KH Appliance on Yelp - the reviews were convincing, and Mike proved them right. He is prompt, honest, fair and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem with our Dacor range without the symptoms active during his preliminary visit (of course, the problem disappears when the service technician arrives). But, he deducted that the cooling fan was broken, and was back with part in hand within a week. He replaced the fan in a timely manner and also repaired the door handle which had been loose for months/years. Other repair people would comment on the door handle, but not take the time to actually fix it. I totally recommend Mike and will use him again in the future. read more
