The food isn't authentic to my standards, but I have to give them kudos for maintaining an even balance between westernized and cultural Vietnamese cuisine. We had spring rolls and vegetable fire pot with meatballs. The grilled pork for the spring roll was very well flavored with just the right amount of sweetness, but the rice paper was a little too thin and the fish sauce was too sweet. The fish balls in the fire pot had too much MSG, which made the soup have too much MSG. I liked how chewy the vermicelli was. Overall, dinner was enjoyable. This is legit Vietnamese food! Surprising, considering the sort of random location (i.e., not in a Little Saigon somewhere). Bun Tom Thit Nuong is great- big shrimps too! Not those little dried up cooked-to-death ones you sometimes get at other places. I love the shrimp around the sugar cane wraps that you wrap yourself... YUM! I was just there yesterday again and the owner said that they are going to bring back banh cuon in the next month or so. Back by popular demand! I highly recommend! I couldn't make myself give this place 4 stars. The way I test Vietnamese restaurants is by testing their Pho. I'm not a Pho expert but I've tasted better. Hubby and I went to Khanh's to try out the place. They are generous when it comes to their spring roll but from what I got from this place, it's catered to non-spicy taste bud customers. They serve the Pho with already cooked meat, they don't serve hot thai chilies with the rice dishes like other Vietnamese restaurants and the Pho doesn't have enough flavour. I had to tweek my Pho with lots of hoisin and sriracha sauce to get it close to what I'm used to. I've been coming here for years and I love it! I usually get the curry chicken, and it's delicious. The chicken is really tender and flavorful, and there's a ton of sauce. We went there very recently while shopping for my sneakers. Since we just went to Big 5 and was going to DSW, we thought why not go to a place nearby instead of going to Cupertino for more familiar places. The interior looked not-so-Asian. I almost thought of it as Italian or sort. The dessert display left from the entrance looked enticing, but we came here for dinner, so went straight to a table. Service throughout the night was very nice although I wished the waiter came by our table more often. There were a few times I had to ask other waiters and waitresses for service, and had to wait for him to attend us. The tofu spring rolls were very plain. The sauce tasted mostly sweet with a hint of fishiness and without much depth. So the whole experience eating that roll was just OK. One could've made rolls tastier while keeping it vegetarian like adding mushroom or different veggie like bits of lemongrass. My wife got vermicelli with grilled beef and shrimp. Both beef and shrimp were dry, and she wished she was eating the same dish from other restaurants. I agreed about the meat but still was able to finish where she left out. Again the aftertaste was just OK. I got BBQ chicken and sauteed shrimp with veggie. They were better for me although I wished the chicken was less sweet. The salad I got was soaked with sugared vinegar dressing. There has got to be some spice in it to give it a kick. I thought prices for these dished were a little high for what were served, so I am being generous giving this place 3 stars. This was the perfect spot to eat before a night of drinking at Santana Row. It's right across the street, - so you can easily walk over once you're done eating. It's not crowded, expensive, or annoying - like most of the restaurants at Santana Row on a Friday night - but its good food and you won't have to make a reservation or sit and wait for hours to get a table. The food, on the other hand, was anything but. 2 of the orders came out quickly, but it took almost 45 minutes to get the rest. We had to remind our waitress twice about the other orders, and she brought out the wrong dish at least three times. The food itself (when we actually got it) was nothing special. Better to stick with their rice plates than the pho. My favorite is the Khanh's Gourmet Delight (chicken and shrimp with mixed veggies) and the BBQ Chicken. Both are served with rice. Perfect portions for one person. If you're feeling really hungry, you should try their combination dinner for 2 persons or more, which comes with appetizer (recommend fresh rolls), soup (I've only tried wonton), and 2 main courses (try Lemongrass Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Pan-fried Catfish, or Catfish Clay Pot) for about $18 per person. I love this place! Yum yum yum! Every time I eat here I thoroughly enjoy my meal and leave feeling very satisfied and happy. It's just really really good! The staff even recognizes my mom and I because we come here so often. One of the cute older waiters even knows our exact "usual" order. It's such a friendly place! My favorites: - Their BBQ beef rolls are the best. They're there little rolls of beef stuffed with onions (I think they're onions anyway). I have a mixed feeling about this place... so just a three star restaurant. Their pho is okay but I feel like this is more americanized pho restaurant. I don't really taste the MSG... No MSG in Asian food? At that point it is no longer Asian food. When it comes to Asian food the dirtier the joint is the more authentic it is. I don't mind dirty environment as long as the food is clean and authentic, authenticity is crucial for me in ethnic food. So in that note, this place is tooooooo clean!!! So on one hand, it was nice and clean with great service. But on the other hand, the food was just mediocre and the selection of different pho and variety of meats weren't as great. I asked for the pho with every kind of meat in it and it was just steak and tendons. No tripes and all the other nasty stuff that I love. It wasn't terrible but I think I would rather have the authentic over the Americanized version. I like my MSG. But if you like super clean restaurant and is health conscious about MSG, go here. P.S. My family used to frequent this spot.. and i was always on the fence about it.. Yea, pretty 'ok.' The che (dessert) is good. And the egg rolls are my favorite. But it's what I like to call the washed version of Vietnamese food.. For some reason my sister and I had a hankering for just this spot. We went... we dined like mad women... and I must say our 2nd shot at a dinner (previous was Mimi's cafe, which grrrr) was a complete success. We left completely satisfied. My parents brought home some bah hoi thit nuong for my dinner today, and damn, the butter lettuce they use with the fresh mint and how they make their fish sauce goes perfectly together. Very good pho here on our first visit. I had Pho Bo, while my wife had Pho Ga. I tried a little of the chicken, and I was pleasantly surprised by the tenderness of the meat. In the past, I've had some tough-to-chew Pho Ga - not the case here at all, and the rare steak was equally tender. I have been going to Khanh's since the 80's. I followed them from Homestead Rd to Town and Country to Winchester and now closer to my home in Campbell. I have frequented many different Vietnamese restaurants over the years but I keep coming back. I appreciate that they pay homage to the French influence in their cuisine down to the desert selections. A huge menu to choose from so you will never get bored. Great place for a dinner date, a family meal, or business lunch. The family and wait staff are all fantastic and very attentive. Did not have Saigon crepe when we went unfortunately because it would take too long to make... I wish they wouldn't have on menu if this were the case. We had their veggie egg rolls, which were fine, the sugar can shrimp that you wrap which was very good, and the beef and grilled onion wrap. I think they should not use the same beef on the bun, although it's good, and instead use stir fried beef and then add deep fried shallots and onions on top - more traditional. We had the bun with beef and found it too redundant. I think the prices here were very high for what it was, hence drop by 1 additional star. Nice family owns / operates. read more

I've never been a big fan of pho, I'm more of a rice gal. My boyfriend, however, loves it! Everytime he feels like going to one of the Pho Hoa places, I give him the squinty eyes. Finally he told me about Khanh's! He reassured me that they have lots of wonderful Vietnamese dishes besides Pho, and he was right. He doesn't even go there for the Pho, he likes their Vietnamese special rice (It's seasoned rice with black mushrooms, chinese sausages, and bbq chicken.) I love their rice plates and the fresh egg rolls. Great bbq beef rolls and chicken. I'm addicted to the seasoning sauce (fish sauce) that they serve with the egg rolls and the rice plates. I pour it into the rice and just eat it like that. (I have a weird habit of mixing rice with Asian sauces.) Khanh's Garden is also very clean. It definitely doesn't feel like your average vietnamese joint. There are lots of dishes on the menu that I want to try, like the vermicelli dishes and the catfish claypot. I've eaten here plenty of times, especially when I worked in the area. I was always here for lunch, so I'm not sure about the dinner services. Lunch was always very busy when I was here. The location is central to many businesses and very close to Valley fair, so a Star for location. I can't really recall the service, so probably nothing memorable here. The food is decent. I wouldn't say it's authentic Viet food, because honestly there's not too many places in America where you can get that except for maybe at one of your Viet friend's parent's homes. I like the food. I usually got rice plates, Bo Luc Lac or Com Thit Nuong. I remember I tried the Pho once and that was a big mistake! This used to be our regular spot. For a couple of years now, our family would come here practically every week. The servers knew us and always greeted us with a friendly smile and a "how are you guys?" that comes with being regulars. In our attempt to trying to curb down our spending, weekly turned to twice monthly and now just maybe once a month. Nice to know they still know us though. The two things that makes Khanh's stick out are their pork eggrolls: always piping hot, deep friend, crispy goodness. Wrap it in the herbs and lettuce, dip it in their "special seasoning sauce" (which I'm pretty sure is fish sauce, lime juice, carrots, jicama, and something else I just cannot quite put my taste buds on) and WOW, crackalicious! I have not seen eggrolls done like this anywhere else. The other thing I love is their pork and shrimp rice paper specialty. It's basically make your own eggroll with vermicelli, herbs, shrimp and pork. It gets a little messy, and you have to be careful with the hot water, but boy oh boy this is the ONLY place I can get it. Excuse my drool. Here's the reason it is minus one star. One thing I've noticed: if you go early, you get the heaping mounds of herbs that come with pho. But if you come near closing, the herbs, not so heaping. It's like they're running out and have to ration the herbs. That, and it if we're not ordering pho, the price of dinner for four is usually between 50-60 bucks. Otherwise it's a nice treat for us. I had tofu and sauteed vegetables with soft noodles (it came with either steamed rice, soft noodles, or fried noodles). Despite the fact that it was under the vegetarian selection of the menu, the noodles are actually cooked in chicken broth! I had to ask the waiter before actually ordering. Meal was above average, nothing special. My cousin ordered the "com dac biet #2", my brother ordered it in #1. Order the #1, it's more bang for your buck. Both of them were basically the same, except #1 had two pieces of chicken and fried rice with lots of shrimp. #2 had one piece of chicken, a small "vegetable salad" with three pieces of shrimp. Service was alright. My table was ready to order at about 10 minutes after being seated. I told our waiter we were ready to order, and he said he'd get to me right away, but came back 20-30 minutes later! But it had a fantastically clean bathroom. Since bf and I are always in Campbell, this place would be the closest location when we have cravings for Vietnamese food. The restaurant is clean and the servers are attentive and caring. Their roasted duck with egg noddle soup deserves a whole star by itself because it'd always leave me full and satisfied! But overall, the food is mediocre for my taste and what I find to be a bit strange is that they only serve shredded pork rice plate on weekends. I have been coming to Kahns since before there was a Santana Row. I loved it then and I still love it now. Consistent food, and service after all these years. I like the specialty item with BBQ pork and Shrimp that you roll up yourself in rice paper and eat. Darn good. The egg noodle wanton soup is also divine. The first time we came here, I ordered extra jalapenos for my Pho, and since then, they have always remembered us, and have brought out extra jalapenos without us asking. I think for the location, it's great! I don't live very far from Little Saigon in Westminster though. If I were to compare it to a place in Little Saigon, it would get a 3 star rating. Food we got: -Goi Ga (chicken salad app): the large is big enough for the 5 of us to have two servings each. The ingredients were fresh. -Bo Luc Lac (Shaken beef): the beef they used was super tender. I think the dish needed to come to room temperature more before cooking though, the flavorings didn't shine as much. Plus they did not provide lime, salt, and pepper dip. -Bo Hanh (Thin beef rolled with onion): my fav dish, well seasoned and tender. -Shrimp and mushroom hot pot: really tasty and plenty of mushrooms and shrimp. Good bang for the buck. They do make it a bit on the spicy side, so watch out if you're not great at handling spicy. read more
