3.5 $40 omakase is hard to beat, with quality fish flown in from Tsukiji Fish Market as per menu. Priced differently by which omakase that you want, I chose the 40 for 10 pieces of sushi since I love nigiri. The sushi was fresh and delicious, however in comparison to more expensive omakases i've had in NYC, there were less pieces that make me go WOW. With this price, you can't really expect uni, so I believed Ki compromised - we had a toro uni piece which unfortunately was underwhelming. Uni tends to be rich & creamy (quite honestly a hit or miss for me) but I was excited to see how I would like the uni in this piece, and the toro took over leaving no uni to be tasted. Their omakase is topped off with ice-cream. For this price, I'd recommend going to nicer places and ordering sushi deluxes for $50 for pieces that really knock you off your feet. The Japanese beer and sake selection has a good number of options as well, I do wish they had a full bar for cocktails however. Our must have's are the TNT Truffle appetizer, Spicy girl roll, Fantastic roll, and the American roll. The fish is always fresh and the flavors are on point. Swung by here with no rez on a weekend night and had a good time. The place was your typical "larger" sushi spot with a large menu and a lot of non-sushi nigiri/roll options. Nothing special about the interior or service, clean and standard service. Except for the "table side hand sanitizer" that got sprayed into my hand by the host as he seated me (lolol). Food: Medium to high quality fish that is fresh and well prepared. Lots of rolls, nigiri, sushi and mains which were seafood based primarily. We ended up ordering the Omakase, which overall was a good experience with a fair price. The fish was good, there was a variety of fish I hadn't tried and I was impressed. However, my waiter didn't know what was what when I asked and would quietly mumble the fish which was awkward/off-putting lol. I had lunch here two weekends ago. The order was yuzu pepper shrimp, chirashi and garden salad. The chirashi came with salad. This was my first time ordering chirashi here- portion was generous as you can see- a nice variety of fish. I've eaten here several times and taken out food as well. Everything was fresh. Came here on a lunch date. Outdoor seating with social distancing was in place which is always a plus for me. There were quite a few seating options, so we were seated quickly. Our waitress offered us hand sanitizer, which I liked, and gave us menus. Everything looked so apitizing that we took longer than usual to make up our minds. I came to the conclusion that I would get the shrimp shumai and the Volcano Roll which consisted of spicy crunch scallop & avocado inside, topped with sweet shrimp & yuzu tobiko. My date had the Miso soup, and the Pink Lady Roll which consisted of salmon tempura, yellowtail, tuna avocado & masago roll in a pink...yes pink soy paper!! we decided on wine and settled on plum wine. As the food came out, it was a beautiful sight to see. The plating for the rolls was amazing! Being place on a Japanese traditional rectangular plate with the rolls on top of a bamboo leaf. I didn't want to touch my meal as it was just so eye pleasing. As I took my chopsticks and tasted one of my rolls I knew it was not long before my plate would be empty. The flavors of all the ingredients meshed together yet tasting each one. The yuzu tobiko (flying fish roe) definitely added an extra flair to the taste. The pink lady was said to have an interesting taste although might not be eye catching with the pink paper wrapping. The Miso soup however, was said to be pleasingly tasteful with all natural ingredients. As far as our wine it was delicious, being sweet and strong. We would've given five stars, but there were quite a few bees that seemed to be buzzing around quite often,but I would still stop by this establishment again. read more

My expectations are usually pretty low when it comes to the trendy, unauthentic, and gaijin'y sushi experiences, but look beyond all of this and Ki Sushi is actually quite good. The fish quality is so high that it's obvious from the first bite that they aren't messing around. No lie, one look at the menu and noticed names like "Pikachu" or "Foxy Lady" under the special rolls section and it was so difficult to take them seriously. The fact they were noted in the Michelin Guide for 10 years didn't mean much to me, there are plenty of high priced places that have disappointed me over the years. The difference with Ki was that everyone was surprisingly delicious. Their Fantastic Roll ($18) had a good bit of crunch and a nice medley of salmon, spicy tuna, yellowtail, and wasabi tobiko. Another surprise was the TNT Roll ($18), which was blue fin toro with caviar, tempura flakes, and caked in tuna. The fact it was served with a beautiful truffle based soy sauce was a real highlight. Their Ki Roll ($20) is their signature combo, with tuna, salmon, yellowtail and bits of crispy crab. With avocado, caviar, and a gold leaf, it is extra bougie and stupidly delicious. There is an omakase that ranges from $40-60, depending on the sushi / sashimi cuts. There is also a la carte sashimi / nigiri style, most of which are $4-5 a piece. The menu does break down the origin (Alaska, Japan, etc.) and a place sushi enthusiasts might hate. The hot food is much of the same stuff, except Chilean Sea Bass. That's offered everywhere. The service is almost as good as the food. They were all courteous and extremely professional, and make great recommendations. I could ding them on the price tag for just about everything, but knowing this ahead of time sets the expectation quickly. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. read more

Embarrassing for the price. For $35 you get 18 mangled pieces of very thin sashimi of varying quality. The tuna was good, but the salmon (how do you mess up salmon?!), yellowtail and snapper were poor quality. I don't remember what the others were (mackerel and halibut maybe?)... I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. The carrot ginger dressing, which really was sugar attempting an undercover mission as a sauce, was half frozen. It's lumpy, icy corporeal form lay tragically prostrate over a bed of wilting lettuce. Even my prose is more artful than this pathetic attempt at dressing. Rice was dry (how do you mess up rice? you are a SUSHI RESTAURANT). Agedashi tofu was fine. They managed not to screw up a two ingredient dish or the tentsuyu. Maybe next time they can work on not screwing up one ingredient dishes (e.g. rice and raw fish). read more

Came here per a friend's recommendation. I told her I was looking for a place that had a relaxed atmosphere, where we can sit at the bar with the kids and just enjoy some good sushi. She insisted we try this location of Ki Sushi. Not knowing the neighborhood, street parking was relatively easy to find and free on Sundays. I made a reservation for us at the bar just so everything went more smoothly but we could've probably done without it. I appreciate that they had a high chair all set for us though. The interior and vibe is modern, sleek, and probably great for a date night without kids; however, the staff was warm and welcoming - I never felt uncomfortable for sitting at the bar with our children (6 year old, 1 year old). The restaurant was spacious. A plus because our littlest one struggles to sit through a long meal so there was plenty of space for us to stand and walk around with him without getting in anyone's way. We initially opted for the $40 for 10 pieces of nigiri. There wasn't anything innovative or different.. just really good quality, yummy fish and rice. Just in case you're wondering, you can order omakase 3 times in a row like my bottomless pit of a husband. Our sushi chef was Perry, easy to talk to and funny. We ordered a ton of MP nigiri and several beers in addition to some sides. I thought our total was fair for the quality of food that we received. I'd come again in a heartbeat! read more

I have very mixed feelings about this spot. I met a friend in Brooklyn for lunch​ and she, being more local than I am, suggest Ki. The service was great, our server was very attentive. The restaurant did have a bit of a fishy smell, which is typically not a good sign. We shared an omakase, with some shishito peppers and jalapeno yellowtail​ sashimi. I remember my sister bringing me to their other location when I was younger.. not sure how we afforded it back then since we were still kids and she was in college.. but I remembered it was good and I loved their warm mushroom salad and their dynamite. It is also the restaurant that taught me what real wasabi should taste like. Came here yesterday with my sister since they had a new location that was closer to her house. this location is bigger and the decor is nice and elegant, the restaurant itself is dimly lit(maybe a little too dim, if I didn't have 20/20 I might not have been able to read the menu)~candles were brought out 20 min after we sat down and ordered. This is one of the more expensive sushi restaurants and it is really close to Sumi and Taro. This place is better of course, we ordered TNT and mushroom salad which were both delicious, I haven't been to Ki in years so I kinda forgot what their mushroom salad was suppose tot taste like. It has a hint of truffle with arugula and random lettuce. I still like it a lot ($14) We ordered a few specialty rolls: I couldn't remember the names of it since my sister placed the order.. one had eel avocado with uni( it was okay, I didn't even know it had uni since the eel and eel sauce was so heavy ) there was one with fresh shrimp on top over spicy scallop (good but not awesome) my favorite of the specialty roll had to be the scallop on top with yuzu tobiko. I also ordered a seared salmon roll which had avocado but it did not taste seared at all... which was a little disappointing. They had given us a free appetizer which had salmon it in and that was delicious. $40 sushi omakase for 10 pieces. Best bang for the buck in Brooklyn. Every single piece was delicious. (The uni was my least favorite, I'm not sure if its because I personally don't care for uni or the uni was not fresh enough.) I loved how we can get the set to go. I know it's not the full on omakase experience, but it was nonetheless a big win for me. Overall, I would definitely come back if I'm in the neighborhood or if I'm craving fancy ass sushi, but too cheap to splurge for a non-special occasion. I would not recommend the Ki Roll though. For $20, it taste like they put all the leftovers onto one roll. I rather get two toro scallion rolls. Not that the Ki roll wasn't good, I just don't think it's worth the money.
