Wow. Wow. Wow. If you are a sushi, sashimi, or roll fan you must come here. It's a $500+ dollar experience but for only a $40 cost! From the moment me and my friend arrived until we left, the customer service was by far the best I have experienced the last 3 years in NY (I have plenty of favorites with excellent customer service, but Ki took it to another level). Just one example was the owner gave us complimentary saki since we just missed a previous promotion (and it was the good kind too). Now as for the food. Wow. Me and my friend both did the 10 piece Omakase (chefs choice) with the TNT truffle appetizer. As soon as the TNT truffle came out, we were both so surprised we didn't think there was anyway it could be topped, but we were wrong. The quality and quantity of the sushi was AMAZING. Not only was each piece above average in size, but the quality and flavor was so amazing, it literally melted in our mouths. Sat at the sushi bar and ordered the $55 omakase sashimi option. I am pretty new to the raw seafood game but I thought it was fresh and tasty. The oyster with truffle was a great touch. We also ordered the gyoza which was flavorful, with a great amount of filing and the wrapper was a perfect amount of crispy. They gave us complimentary edamame and shrimp shumai too (also good). The service was fantastic. The host, waiters and even the sushi chefs were attentive and engaging with us during our entire dinner. Great selection of sake too. 2019 Spring Update: My friend and I came again to for the $40 Omakase again! And again the dishes were stunning! We were still impressed by the TNT toro we had last year. But this time we tried more dishes. And they are worth it! Recommendation: Yellowtail Carpaccio, Marguro Avocado, Grilled Black Cod are all wonderful wonderful dishes. Freshness of the fish, well seasoning with Yuzu sauce, all made them great choices. Other than Omakase and a la Carte dishes, the rolls were great too. Last time we had Ki Sushi with gold on it. This time we had passion roll and angel roll. Smoothness and the richness of the fat eel salmon and tuna was so satisfying. -------------------------- I came here for lunch three weeks ago. I really enjoyed both Omakase and A la Carte. I had a $40 Omakase, which is truly worth the money, comparing to any sushi's I've had. As for main dishes, Yuzu Shrimp, Miso Grilled Cod, TNT are all wonderful dishes with various rich flavors. As for service, I've enjoyed very hospitable service from waiter and Sushi Chef. After an evening run on prospect park, we decided to have sushi around the neighborhood. We stumbled upon Ki Sushi, which was not too crowded upon our arrival. The menu looked a tad expensive for what we thought was a typical sushi spot with $6 for a California roll and $8 for salmon avocado roll. We were about to close our menus and step out of the restaurant when I noticed 10 piece sushi omakase for $40. The sushi is air shipped from Tokyo Tsukiji Fish Market (!), so we said why not and stayed seated to have one of the most amazing sushi meals in Brooklyn. We got the eel don to pair it with our omakase, which is served with your choice of soup or salad. Our miso soup had enokitake, a pleasant surprise considering you wouldn't find it in your typical miso soup from an average sushi restaurant. Ki Sushi, however, would soon prove to not be your average restaurant when we tasted our meals. The eel don was perfect. The eel fillet was dressed in the sweetened soy-based sauce and once you turned the fish around, you could see (and later taste) the crispy skin cooked in charcoal fire. Our unadon came with pickled vegetables and yellow radish on the side, embellishing what was already a tasty dish at only $28. Now, the omakase. I expected it to come one by one so that I could savor each piece slowly. It was a bit of a let down to see it arrive all in one plate at first, but the presentation was perfect when the sushi was stacked next to one another. For $4 per sushi, we got to taste sea scallop, uni, seared king salmon, black cod (my favorite), fatty tuna, yellowtail, mackerel to name a few. That black cod sushi just melted in my mouth even more so than the fatty tuna, king salmon or the sea scallop; it literally didn't even need to be chewed. The sushi were all seasoned with different garnishes on top, at times with just salt and other times with a slice of jalapeño or wasabi. The uni was soft like pudding, making me wish I ordered more of it. For $40, I got to taste omakase and one that was worth remembering. What I expected would be an overly priced meal ended up much to my surprise a delightfully inexpensive experience. Ki Sushi overdelivered. I will have to come back to try their sashimi omakase and broiled black cod entrèe next time. read more

I came across Ki's Smith Street location on Yelp about two years ago and since then have not gone to another sushi spot in Brooklyn. The Smith Street location has been temporarily closed now for several months so I started coming to the Flatbush location, which is just as great! The service is always great and the sushi is absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. My neighbor mentioned they were going to pick up dinner from Ki. I had never thought of trying one of the many sushi places around since Geido has been my go to for many years. Sadly they temporarily closed during the pandemic so I tried Ki one evening. Delicious meal with very fresh sushi and miso eggplant appetizer. Delivery was friendly and quick. Decent sushi, service leaves much to be desired. Simple restaurant you can feel free to show up in jeans and sneaker reflective of the price point as well. When asking a question about the menu the waiter reacted absurdly condescending and questioned whether my friend and I knew the difference between sushi v. sashimi. She continued to serve us with an attitude. After taking our initial order it was difficult to get her attention. Despite still drinking our wine another server comes by to ask if we wanted to pack our things to go. It was my first time dining in Brooklyn and let's say the service left much to be desired. The only reason they didn't receive one star is because the sashimi was decent and the food was reasonably priced similar to any other sushi takeout restaurant you can think of. I actually came upon this place through Yelp, after my favorite sushi spot burned down this year I needed to find a new spot for to fill the void of missing my old spot. Ki Sushi came with lots of great reviews and is not that far from my house so I decided to give it a try. We went there around 8 p.m on a Friday night and was expecting it to be crowded but to our surprise it was easy to get a table that night. The hostess seated us while we waited for our waiter to come take our orders much to our surprise we were handed warm towels for our hands which was a unique touch which we loved. I was super excited to look through the menu because I had some recommendations I wanted to try. We started with some miso soup and green salad, the salad was fresh and the carrot ginger dressing was the best I have ever had. I then ordered the TNT with truffles which left a bust of flavors in my mouth. I'm definitely ordering this again , I also got the Ki sushi, spicy salmon , shrimp tempura , California , avocado cucumber everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. Here lies the obit for my old favourite sushi spot, formerly known as Taro. Taro is deceased to me. Ki opens wide into high ceilinged dining space with very dim lighting, good for dating, butter faces, and aging people. Fronted by a sleek looking bar with, cool looking bulbs, there are wood varietals on the backsplash and walls, recessed spaces with candles and a touch of exposed brick. Impeccably clean, thoughtfully designed bathroom with handicap access and a very low sink. Fish was excellent. In two visits I've devoured the tartare of yellowtail, a tricolour signature roll, yellowtail jalapeno appetizer. Sushi deluxe was plated excellence. Dessert was, nottoosweet, while very creamy, ginger lime crême brulée. Handily awarding five stars for attentive, seamless service and superlative deliciousness. I went to Ki for lunch on a sweltering day in July, and it was a lovely cool oasis. The decor is much nicer than it looks like it will be from the outside, and the ambiance was relaxed but still somewhat elegant. Every employee we interacted with was so nice, efficient, and helpful when we had some questions. And of course, the food--it was really good (if not amazing); definitely solid. If youre looking for sushi spots with unique rolls that you wont find elsewhere this is the place. We also tried some of our go-to dishes like spicy tuna over crispy rice and yellowtail jalapeno sashimi and they were spot on Spicy tuna crispy rice: super addicting, they used the popping rice as garnish to give it more crunch. Yellowtail sashimi w jalapeno- fresh and maybe just a touch over on the yuzu. Pikachu roll - had an interesting marbled seaweed/soy paper wrap and tasty. Ki sushi I came here on a Sunday night, it was not crowded and found parking just around the corner. The waitress was very considerate she placed a family of four with two kids two tables away from me to give me some privacy. The staff is very observant, they refill my water before it was half empty.  After reading the reviews, I decided to ordered the Sushi Omasake ( after seeing so many reviews raved about it ), wild mushroom salad and the TNT appetizer. Omasake Sushi consists of 10 pieces of sushi. It was divided into two plates, 5 pieces on each plate.  The first plate only 3 out of 5 was very good, same goes for the second plate. It was a disappointment. Compared to Sushi Lin across the street you can't compare. The sushi was fresh but some of the sauce did not enhance the fish. The sushi was above average, but not worth the price ( $40 for 10 piece sushi). However, the presentation of the food was very nice. The TNT Sushi appetizer was very good. It was dice Toro wrapped in tuna with truffle oil. if you are looking for the truffle oil taste you will not be able to detect it in this appetizer. Nevertheless this appetizer was very good. I would order this again. The wild mushroom salad was very good. The salad is warm Mushroom on top of a feta salad there is a bus sound like vinegar dressing and truffle oil. personally I really like this dish because I like the taste of truffle, but if you are looking for the mushroom taste the truffle oil is overpowering it. read more

Already a favorite in Prospect Heights area. Was a fan of Taro Sushi down the street but this place has it beat. Love the interior but the service is top notch and super attentive. We came on a Wednesday 6pm with no reservations and were seated immediately. The waitress started by giving us hot hand towels to wipe our hands and took our drink orders--we ordered the "Devil Killer(?)" Sake. They served us a complimentary appetizer too of two sashimi pieces. Very fresh. We ordered chicken skewers and gyozas as appetizeres. Chicken was very juicy and the sauce was delicious. Gyoza was also fried perfectly. I ordered the Sashimi Deluxe--came with 18 pieces of sashimi ranging from fluke to salmon and a miso soup. It was more than I could eat TBH. Also, a huge fan of the miso since they were very generous ith the enoki mushrooms and seaweed. BF got two types of special rolls--Volcano and the Dynamite roll. Both were delicious! I favor the Volcano because of the scallops.Again, very filling. Lastly, we ordered the Spring Roll Banana with Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Ice cream (It's a banana fried in spring roll wrappers). I live down the street from Ki Sushi and had always seen a crowd outside this spot. I finally decided to try it out for my birthday dinner, so we got a large order of takeaway. If you walk two blocks east or two blocks west of Ki Sushi on Flatbush, you'll easily see three or four other sushi places that could seem as enticing as Ki Sushi. In fact, it's taken me forever to try Ki Sushi, but I'm so glad that I did! What sets Ki Sushi apart from other sushi locations nearby is that the service is very nice and the food is so delicious! The place seems a bit posher than the average sushi joint, but not in a pretentious way. We ordered a rather large boat to sample some of their select items and the food was very fresh!
