Super cute little place in Danville with parking and not crowded at all....hmmm wonder why? Got lollipop shrimp only to bite through steaming hot panko and taste cold, gray uncooked shrimp. Waitress brought another at the end of our meal. Paid an extra $4 for the Hartz roll for the real crab which absolutely was not real crab. It looked identical to the finely diced white fish with tiny orange bits here and there made to look like crab. Not going back unfortunately. read more

While server was very nice and fish quality was good, I was a bit disappointed in the lack of variety of available fish. I arrived for an early lunch on a Thursday at 11:30am. Lunch came with miso soup and edamame. Got a free seaweed salad for checking into Yelp. Ordered the lunch portion sashimi appetizer. Fish quality was superb. Fish variety typical of the norm including salmon and tuna. No rice. I was craving something more exotic but they seemed to be out of most everything I asked for. They didn't have real crab or uni. They did have amaebi which was small for the price but delish. Perhaps I was too traditional for them. Their menu looked to have quite a few Westernized rolls. I won't write them off quite yet. The space is quite polished. The staff seems very friendly and eager to please. My server was distraught when she had to announce they were out of a lot of the fish I was inquiring about. Perhaps they are keeping inventory of the more unusual fish low until they have established a more robust client base. Good food, but I'm not sure if it was anything spectacular. My friend and I came here after it was recommended. It was nice to get a free appetizer after you check in on yelp, so we got an order of gyoza. Their menu isn't as big as other sushi restaurants which I appreciate because it can be overwhelming when I'm flipping through a book. We decided to try the Kibo roll and their sashimi salad. Both were tasty, and the fish tasted very fresh. The price seemed a little more than your average roll, and the service was good. I would come to this place again, but I'm not sure if it will be my first choice. read more

For what it's worth, the upbeat atmosphere and inviting service is a draw, and was a reason enough to put into a rotation of local sushi restaurants to return to. However, as sushi in particular isn't the sort of food item that's very forgiving when ingredients of lesser (or problematic quality) are involved -- and it was all going swimmingly on a return visit, having tried some good variety on both occasions. Until the addition of Ikura (salmon roe) as one final item, a common and familiar ingredient that while may have variation, remains within a relatively narrow margin. The nigiri -- by sight alone, appeared slimier than normal, even a bit frothy, and all the individual eggs were abnormally collapsed. Apprehensively trying a couple of those eggs, an unexpected sour taste was apparent, enough to prompt leaving the entire plating exactly as it arrived. Nothing was right or familiar about this otherwise very familiar raw ingredient. Equal parts disappointed and grossed out, am afraid that all undermined confidence in consistency and quality standards for sushi. Bummer. read more

Went to dinner here for Father's Day. We ordered two rolls and the tonkotsu ramen. The rolls were great fresh fish and good sauce. The ramen was very tasty with good ingredients, we loved everything we ate. The restaurant has been remodeled with very tasteful decor much nicer than the previous restaurant here. Really enjoyed Kibo! It was my first time and I made an easy reservation through opentable. The service was really good and they have awesome specials throughout the week. Our former favorite sushi place closed about 6 months ago, so we had to find another. I don't like shellfish, and the sushi rolls at most places seem to be heavy on shrimp and scallops, so I'm always looking for places with a good selection of rolls without any shellfish. Kibo has a good selection of rolls, as well as good sashimi, the service is friendly and prompt, and prices are average for sushi in this area. ( They do have plenty of rolls with shellfish, too, if that's your thing.) My favorite roll here is the Hoka salmon. Salmon and crab deliciousness with a delicious sauce on top! As a bonus, they have an eclectic collection of action figures behind the bar as decoration. They will be seeing more of us on Fridays during Lent! read more

Although we ordered my daughter's food first, 5 minutes after server took our order 2 rolls came out first and then edamame and then chicken katsu within couple of minutes. Chicken was pink raw! This restaurant serves v poor quality sushi. We ordered the pink buri hamachi sashimi with ponzu sauce. It was $26 for 5 pieces of smelly fish and no sauce. We also ordered a few rolls and brussel sprouts. The fish and the ginger tasted old / slightly rotten. The crab (we paid an extra $4/roll for real crab) was strangely sweet, dried, and old tasting with no real crab flavor. The rolls were extremely unrefined with avocado sliced in uneven and rough pieces and placed on top. A true sushi chef would freak out if they saw the poor cuts and tasted the awful sweet flavors of the sushi rice. Overall a very poor experience when I was expecting almost 5 star quality. Makes me wonder how they received so many 5 star ratings. read more

I have dined here many times with my family at least a few times per year. We love to have dinner but I'll also come to get quick lunch specials, particularly their chicken teriyaki is so good! All their sushi is SUPER FRESH and well made with love and quality ingredients. The service is nice and accommodating although it can get busy sometimes they always greet you with a big welcome! My family's new go-to spot for sushi!! So far, we've only been here during lunch time. They have an awesome lunch special: choose two items from a list and it is served with rice and miso soup. They also have lunch sets that includes three items plus salad, miso soup, and rice for a few extra dollars. Everything we've tried on the menu has been amazing both in quality and in quantity: chicken katsu, shrimp lollipop, chicken teriyaki, California roll, agedashi tofu, and deep fried California roll. Will need to come back to try more rolls and all of the special sushi they put up on their board. They also had a ton of different beers to choose from on their menu. Has not been crowded both times we've been (Friday during lunch hour). They are closed between lunch and dinner from 2pm - 5pm. They are always closed on Mondays. Service was attentive and the (new-ish) waitress was very sweet and remembered everything we asked for. The head chef even served us some of our dishes and was continually making sure the space was clean. Will update review when we try more dishes! read more

We have been buying take out sushi from KIbo since it opened, but this is the first time we tried it during the Covid pandemic. The menu has been pared down a good deal. We used our Dashpass for Doordash and used the menu on their site. We ordered Rainbow, Dragon,Spider and fried California rolls. All were really good, with the fried California roll being exceptional. The only Japanese member of our group does not like fish(!) and ordered the lunch set A, California roll, chicken teriyaki and tempura. Looked good so I ordered one also. They included rice, soup and salad. For $13 a really good value. The one person who will not eat raw fish was sad the Lion King roll is not on the menu, but she had California rolls and teriyaki chicken to share. The food was exceptional! They included nice quality chopsticks and napkins without asking. A really happy experience. read more
