Tried it foir the first time never to go back! Oysters were good, the salmon taco's were moist but had a strange (unidentifiable) flavored sauce; the fish and chips plate had excellent chips (why do Americans call them chips with fish but fries with a burger?) but the fish was less than the 6oz they promised and batter/breading was simply terrible ......any fish resurant that cannot cook good fish and chips cannot be called a fish restaurant in my view. The wine selection was better than average; we had to ask for cutlery and napkins but the zinger was the bill! No tip, 18%, 25% but no way to set your own!! Methinks the idea will now be to pay the bill with no tip by card and leave the tip I want as cash!! read more

Took my family of 11 to Kickers, the atmosphere was perfect and accommodating for larger parties. Kid friendly, amazing service and even better food. Everyone was pleased with their meals. The fish and chips were excellent and recommend any of the tacos!! read more

We stumbled upon Kickers while we were waiting for a table somewhere else and decided to stay. So happy we did for a few reasons. Our server was Bali and she was fantastic. Super accommodating, very knowledgeable of the menu, and quick to check in on us. The stand out dish was the lobster mac n cheese. There are a ton of options on the menu so we were all able to find something we loved. The view could not be beat. We sat at the window and watched the sea otters and seals play. I had the crab cakes and he had the swordfish tacos. Both were good, the tacos had a great spicy kick with the sauce. They do not have a liquor license! We ordered a couple drinks and it tasted like water, so you get an alcohol that is 20-24% called Soju. Very misleading and disappointing. Lobster Max n Cheese was great! Clam chowder had way too much bacon. Tacos were ok. I was so excited for a new restaurant but unfortunately won't be returning for these reasons. read more

What a great find in a town full of good places! They accommodated us 20 minutes before closing without it seeming a bother at all. They also offered (as in offered when I just said I didn't want fried fish tacos to my daughter) to make the menu tacos with grilled instead. The local oysters were also a hit along with a fabulous IPA from Barrel House. They have lots of booths and tables with a rock/bay view. Fortunately we came across Kickers! when we arrived the host "Eric" greeted us and told us that the wait is about 20 minutes. He was so attentive and apologetic for the wait. I have been in the service business for over 45 years and it was a pleasure to watch Eric control the situation. He made sure everyone waiting was comfortable with supreme confidence. We decided to give this place a second chance and boy am I glad that we did. The place changed owner ship and the atmosphere and food were delicious. The view looking out at Morro rock from the inside is spectacular especially when you have great tasting food and beer to enjoy it with. The waitress did forget a few things and had to go back and forth a few times but otherwise she was quite friendly. Our fish and calamari were cooked perfectly and not chewy and came out hot. The bouillabaisse here was really good, and would rate favorably against my favorite San Francisco cioppino spots. My dad had the clam chowder bowl and said it was one of the best he's ever had. Food was decent but servings size was small. The real problem was, it was priced like a 5 star, but food and service were 3 star. The location is beautiful however, so if you can't get into the similarly priced Galley Restaurant nearby, which is worth every penny, then you will be just fine here after a few $15 glasss of $8 wine. read more

Service is as important to me as the food. The food is very good. Our server was not. The place only had maybe 6 tables with people. I counted 4 maybe 5 servers. We were seated and waited there for 10 minutes before I had to ask the bus person for water. We ordered two appetizers. 15 minutes later we got our 1/2 dozen oysters and shrimp cocktail. Not like the items had to be cooked. I watched as two couples with a different server were enjoying they're drinks and appetizers before us. My date was brought her main course as I sat there watching her eat for another 10 minutes then I was served. Had to ask again for my ice tea. read more

We waited 15 minutes, and I had to ask (Mr. Man Bun) at the front door to find us a server. There were a handful of non-speaking English guys chatting and laughing in the kitchen. Ryan our waiter finally appeared and took our drink order, another non-English speaking guy came out of the kitchen, poured the wine and left it on the service tray for Ryan, I went and retrieved it myself, the Pinot Grigio was flat and tasted awful. Ryan finally appeared again to take our dinner order. My husband had Salmon tacos; I had the Calamari sandwich with fries. Neither were great, fries were cold, Ryan brought me a fresh batch which were actually quite good, Calamari sandwich was tasteless and soggy. All in all, we paid $80 not including tip for a horrible meal and wine., in addition to this a very young under-age child was cleaning behind the bar. Bad experience altogether.
