This is a pretty average sushi place ran by Chinese family. The sushi is somewhat on the smaller side and nothing special. I tried their house roll and a chop scallop roll. The chop scallop roll was not bad. The house roll was pretty average. The ingredients are fresh. Prices are basically what you expect at other restaurants. Parking is free in the lot on Sunday. Monday to Saturday, you do have to pay for parking. Service was ok. You only get service if you ask for it. The salmon gama is a pretty good deal here for $10ish you get 2 halfs of the salmon head. It is also quite flavorful and tasty. It is a very average mediocre sushi restaurant.

Tasty but somewhat snack sized Japanese place close to Metropolis. Parking is available in the plaza lot but it isn't free, which is totally stupid. Park on a side street instead. The inside is pretty modern but bare bones. Staff here speak Cantonese. Disclaimer. I had the Bento Box 1. The bento box is pretty spartan if you ask me. A few pieces of sashimi and some tempura, then a salad and some white(!) rice, and a bowl of miso soup. Honestly it would've better if they at least included some teriyaki. My friend and I both left hungry. Quality is decent, but this thing is snack sized. Knock 1 star off. Not sure if I'd come back because of the small portions.

Recently ordered house roll takeout (photo shown with 4 out of the 5 pieces). I am used to rolls with 6 pieces and this order's house roll was slightly disappointing because only half of house roll had avocado inside and I love avocado. I commend them for fast takeout and an easy place to park, grab and go for a simple sushi fix. Server was nice and offered me tea while I waited for takeout. Past dine-in experience was usually for their set lunch and dinner boxes. This place may not be run by Japanese but they offer spacious booth seating available, clean layout, convenient parking and friendly service. Parking is free, reimbursed with ticket. Attached parts of its menu in photos as they showcase quite a variety of dishes. As with many restaurants, prices have gone up... their signature winter California rolls now priced as $10.95 but they still carry a decent selection of reasonably priced appetizers such as Agedashi tofu for $5.95, rolls starting at $3.75 and teriyaki dishes from $13.95 to 18.95 (not shown in menu photos). They offer ordering online on their website. Also offers all day delivery with min order of $25.

After being seated, I had to use the ladies room. I must say that I am VERY impressed that for such a LARGE single bathroom that they didn't double it as a storage room for the vacuum and mop etc etc. It was prime dinner time, there was no line-up ... was that a hint from the Big Guy above? We were seated at a booth. I think they made the booths to accommodate people 6 feet tall and taller. The distance between the seat and the table was about 1 foot. So if I wanted to sit back comfortably, I couldn't reach the table. If I wanted to eat my food, I had to sit on the very edge of the seat (that hurt my butt). We ordered a small Sashimi, a Philadelphia roll, and 3 pieces of Massago. The bill came too ... $39 (blink blink) I had to do a double take. $39?? We did not order alcohol. Granted the prices were right there on the menu. My fault I didn't look at the prices, I just assumed that seeing we order almost the same thing at all sushi places that the prices would be similar ... uuuuh ... nope!! WRONG-O!! I doubt very much we will be returning here. Food is okay, but not worth the price. For that price I can go elsewhere and be happily stuffed full.

Doesnt look like much when you walk past, but this restaurant has very good sushi and excellent customer service.

Tuna, salmon roll and chopped scallop roll had a very good taste, the tuna and salmon nigiri was very good same with the tako yaki, I also enjoyed the negitoro roll and the spicy salmon rolls, all that food for under $40, include the excellent service and that = me going back

For a Chinese run sushi place, its a good price and they give you quite a bit of food. Obviously, their rice is a bit too thick, flavourless and mushy. Their spicy salmon roll was disappointing with just a giant squeeze of sriracha on top...the tataki was also poorly sliced but huge slices of fish. Lots of crab meat in the alaska roll (the chinese kind not the korean kind) but again, good prices. Way too much rice on the chicken teriyaki roll though... Also came by with a groupon once and we got a deal with gyoza, chicken teriyaki, some nigiri and sashimi as well as a roll. Again, spicy salmon roll was not very good and everything else was average. We ordered a winter california roll on top of that which was a cali roll base with chopped scallop on top and a mayo based sauce, then seared. This was a little bit too rich but tasted good. Overall, they have good lunch deals but the tasteless rice keeps me from returning.

This is the standard Japanese restaurant with basic decor and typical menu. Nothing really stands out about this place. Like so many such restaurants, it's not run by Japanese people. But the food is good; service was friendly, and the prices were typical. They did have a few high end items like Blue fin tuna sashimi, among other things, so it's an appropriate place to go for a special treat. I would eat here again.

For a group of 5 we ordered the "Faimly" combo. It's supposed to be "Family" combo and meant fo 4 people ($75....?) HAHA anywho, it was more than enough food for us all. It came with miso soup, tempura, rolls, sushi, and a beautiful display of sashimi. The fish was good! The toro melts on your tongue. I use the uni to determine the quality of the fish and the uni was great good good good

We order the Kiku Combo (Mango California, Kiku, Winter California, Philadelphia, and Caterpillar Roll) and a dragon roll (my all time fav!) The Winter California is to die for!!! It's like California Roll topped with chopped scallops that's gently torched, it's creamy and so satisfying! It's a must try :) The Dragon Roll is stuffed with unagi. SO YUMMY Would not really get their dynamic roll though, the batter swallows the prawn entirely. And this is waaaay too much food for 2 people.

The reason I eat so much sushi is because I always manage to convince myself that sushi is healthier than whatever I plan to cook at home or the wherever am planning to eat out at. When it comes to Kiku however, it is so good and addicting, but you know that you're going to have to put in some extra time at the gym... intrigued? Read on. Kiku is a Japanese restaurant nestled into a small plaza near Metrotown, many people never even see it tucked away from the street! It is really my hidden gem. Run by Koreans with some Korean inspired dishes. I'm not complaining though since they know how to make their food! The restaurant itself is really cozy with booths and private rooms. TVs around the place and is a great way to wind down the day, go for lunch or just hang out with friends. With an extensive menu that is well priced, there is something for everyone! Every time I come here (which is not often enough) I get the tuna oil tataki, baked salmon sashimi, winter california roll and spicy tofu. At lunchtime there are really affordable boxes which come with an assortment of goodies. There are also roll combos and such to share and are a good value. The baked sushi and sashimi is what distinguishes Kiku from other Japanese places and there are many restaurants especially around the Metrotown area! They bake the rolls with a mound of scallop and mayo in top and their salmon sashimi with a ponzu sauce and mayo. When it bakes the mayo is gooey and easy to eat and although it is fattening it is so yummy (my friend thought it was cheese once)! Okay, so it might not sound all that appetizing when I explain it, but it is really quite something unique. Their spicy tofu is a korean inspired dish and is kind of a stir fry dish with veggies and tofu in a not overly spicy sauce. It comes in a fairly large portion so it is good to share. Kiku is definitely worth checking out!

Service 2.5/5 Tea was not refilled during my lunch service. However I was asked if I wanted more tea right before I left Service was friendly, chefs shouted greetings on entry Decor 3/5 Dining area is clean, did not use the restroom Seating for around 50 Multiple 2 person tables and tables for larger groups in the back Food 2.5/5 I ordered the lunch special which was a choice of three items with miso soup for around $8.50 I went for the spicy tuna, spicy salmon and BC roll +large rolls and neat arrangement (photo) -Rice was overly dense, and chewy -Seaweed was damp chewy, tough This combination made all the rolls really tough and chewy, couldn't really enjoy the fillings I was surprised to find the salmon rolls extremely hard to chew, I tried a few more pieces and they were equally as tough. When I unrolled the last one I found it was made of three flat end pieces full of sinew , the parts that are usually discarded (photo on request) or cooked for BC rolls. You couldn't tell from the top because of the large dollop of siracha sauce The BC roll filling was unremarkable, mostly skin, no meat The spicy tuna was the best out of all, although still chopped, there were no traces of sinew I was excited to try Kiku given its rating and proximity to work but was quite disappointed. Location is good for the surrounding office buildings but their food and service need work. Its edible but I wouldn't come back.

First off, always bring a jacket here even if it's hot outside. The AC here is terribly cold. As regulars here for decades, sometimes with mild turbulent experiences, this specific visit highlighted a real decline in how the restaurant operates. We arrived close to sunset on a cool evening, yet the dining room was uncomfortably cold with air blowing directly on our backs. Staff can be seen to the side rubbing their upper arms trying to warm themselves. Patrons near us (tables really close) also expressed discontent with the chilly air and food. I asked a server if they could adjust the temperature twice. Finally, I got up and went to the counter and in broken English, the younger woman just shrugged and muttered that the AC was off, even though cold air was clearly still blowing--surely their HVAC system has a heater. After sitting there in a really cold dining room freezing and hearing other diners continue to complain, we decided to walk out without ordering. The cashier gave a completely scripted, insincere apology on our way out. It feels like they simply do not care about the dine-in experience or the tips customers leave anymore. I feel customers need to be more vocal and use their wallets as a method of approval. I also noticed a newly posted sign saying they now close between 3 and 4 pm for staff breaks, which seems to point to obvious staffing issues. There's way too many Sushi restaurants competing for business in the Highgate Metrotown area, this one has fallen off the rails. And I can't imagine how bad management is with these kinds of working conditions.
