Decided to try a new sushi restaurant in the Monrovia area! Kiku Sushi is a little hole in the wall that I would definitely recommend. I will say that they have quite a big menu and it was hard to select food, but it does give you a lot of options! I got the dinner combination with sashimi, the Philadelphia roll, and spicy tuna roll. My fiancé got a variety of sushi as well. It's funny because he rates sushi restaurants depending on how good their salmon and tuna are. He really loved the salmon but he found the tuna was just "okay" In my opinion, the sushi is good, but it's not the greatest. It doesn't have that "melt in your mouth" factor that I look for in sushi restaurants but it's also not bad at the same time. The servers though were very attentive and I didn't have to get their attention at all. Also we got our food very quickly which was nice! I'd come back if I was in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to make the extra drive.

I love Kiku Sushi! My favorite is the salmon skin salad. Their takoyaki is also delicious. A solid spot if you want Japanese food. Their lunch and dinner combos are a great option as well. Usually get seated right away too.

Very peaceful, calm atmosphere food very fresh and a vast menu and of course the chef is willing to accommodate most requests. I enjoyed my time here and I would come back again. Staff very attentive as well. It's just a fun little place with fun music and good food.

My favorite bento spot I come here at least once a week !!! It's not all you can eat but it hits the spot and is satisfying. Has everything I want in a Japanese restaurant .

I really wanted to like this spot because I live right up the street and sushi is my favorite food but I honestly just wasn't impressed. The sushi was very dry on both rolls, and it wasn't super fresh I felt. The lady who served us as well wasn't the nicest so it just made want to pack our stuff and leave sooner. I don't think I'll return any time soon but happy I got to try it out.

This gem is nestled in the Kohls/Trader Joe's shopping center right off the 210 fwy at Huntington Drive. You'd miss it if you drove by...so don't miss it! Great service. Very friendly atmosphere. The green tea is perfectly steeped and comes in a very large tea mug. You get a free refill too! Started with the BEST miso soup I've had. I know--miso is miso is miso, right? Wrong! The flavor and consistency of the broth bring a Mmmmm to your mouth! The sushi came out quick and tasted so fresh. Definitely try the cilantro roll with jalapeño. It has just enough kick to know it's in there, but doesn't overwhelm the roll so you can enjoy all the other flavors. It's a quaint spot so depending on the time of day you might have to wait a bit. There's also a sushi bar with ample seating if that's what you prefer. No matter where you sit, every seat is the best in the house! Enjoy.

Service is great and my only disappointment was the sushi bar being only for omakase at dinner time. I wish that was available for regular diners too! I ordered the Edomae Sushi dinner ($51.00) along with a Large Hot Sake ($19.00), and Negitoro Roll ($12.50), Torotaku Roll ($12.50) and an order of Chu-Toro ($21) The edomae dinner started with some appetizers and miso soup, all of which were delicious and uniqe to this restaurant. The sushi plate had some pretty different nigiri options that are definitely not seen across most sushi restaurants in the US! I enjoyed nearly every piece except for one or two - nothing was bad but just my preference. The rolls were amazing and filled nicely too with deliciously minced tuna. The chu-toro wasn't quite as fatty as I hoped (yes I know chu-toro is the medium fatty option) but it was still buttery soft! The house sake was pretty strong and bitter though and I was surprised how hard it was to drink, and I usually love and thoroughly enjoy sake! But overall, I really enjoyed this meal and would definitely return

They forgot entirely to bring my daughter's drink, did not bring everyone's order out even close to about at the same time (it was a large party of 7) and the server misidentified my meal so I thought they got it wrong. The chicken katsu curry and sushi were ok, but the ramen my daughter got had a strange flavor (we've had a lot of ramen) and my salmon shioyaki was not made the right way. Salmon shioyaki should be salted and grilled or broiled. The cut of salmon was wrong and it didn't taste salted at all, more like a piece of teriyaki salmon with the sauce scraped off. Lesson learned is that it's called Mikomi Sushi, so definitely stick with the sushi if you dine here. The atmosphere is nice with high ceilings and beautiful lighting and everyone working there is nice, I just found the experience disappointing and regretted that I didn't go to another Japanese restaurant.

The Hojicha Panna Cotta, though, was amazing and easily the most memorable item of the meal. It was also a lot of food for three people, and we probably could have ordered one less dish. The service and atmosphere were the biggest highlights for me. The staff was immediately welcoming and helpful in explaining the menu and popular items. The owner/chef was also very lighthearted and friendly, and the whole restaurant had a communal, neighborhood feel. Even around closing, everyone seemed relaxed and was enjoying their time together. Overall, the food was good, but I did find it expensive for what we ordered.
