The sushi is amazing! The prices are great. The service can improve. The servers take your drink order and food order and that's it. Good luck on getting a drink refill or having a server ask if your food is good. You have to wave someone down. I used to work in the area some 15 years ago, and I ate here at least once a week. Even when I got another job nowhere near Monrovia, I still visited about once a month. I haven't been back since I moved out of State and came back. But I still remember how I loved their Teriyaki Salmon and Alaskan Roll. I've been to this place many times over the years and their food is always good! They also have amazing service with decent ambiance.

Food is good and decent size portions. Shrimp and Veggie tempura is my most favorite. Salmon Shioyaki and grilled Mackerel is also quite delicious. Nigiri sushi or sashimi is okay. Salmon is prob the best. I wouldn't recommend the fried dishes in their combo platter cause it looks like they reuse the oil too many times and crust gets dark. I would have still given it 4 stars, however, dinner here also gave me the runs twice already within a couple of weeks apart. As in matter fact, I'm writing this review while sitting in the crapper. So I'll have to slash a star off. Even though you can pretty much get diarrhea from eating anywhere if you're unlucky..so I ain't mad. Just avoid the 3 entree combo plate. read more

Found this great local sushi restaurant open for takeout. You can either place your order online or call. We ordered two of the Kiko Lunches - with salmon and shrimp & vegetable tempura. The lunches come with salad, rice, miso soup and pickled cucumbers. Everything was packed up really well so we didn't incur a mess or any spillage when we got home. We also had an order of the spicy tuna over crispy rice (it's usually one of our favorites), but in this case - the tuna was quite cold and was a mess when we opened the container - they had toppled over and was not constructed in the way that you could take an easy bite. Perhaps this is a dish best had on site rather than take away. Overall, great food and easy to order, would come back again for takeout! read more

Had to drive from Pasadena to find Sukiyaki. Have been craving for the warm soup and crystal noodles for a while, but my usual go to restaurants have not had it. The soup isn't as sweet as other places, the beef is tenderized and well marinated, a very different type of meat used in sukiyaki. Plenty of vegis (which I love) and just enough meat, but the crystal noodles were clumped together and much too thick. My husbands bento was just the right amount of food. He got the 2 item bento with teriyaki chicken and beef. With the meal came miso soup, rice, and a salad. Prices are average. But I do not think it is worth the drive from Pasadena. I have never been to this part of town. I visited the Arcadia Aboretum with friends and decided to have dinner together. We decided to try out this place since the ratings were good on Yelp. All the food was absolutely delicious. I've tried Umi Combo, tempura, karage, Jenny roll, Philadelphia roll, Honeymoon roll, and hot green tea. Of all three rolls, Jenny roll was the best. What a surprising gem of a sushi place located right across the street from Armstrong (the flower place!) in Monrovia. Came for lunch and left completely satisfied with my 4 piece California roll (courtesy of the Yelp check-in) and roll. At our table we had also ordered octopus sushi, the sashimi platter, aloha roll, and another roll that I forget the name of now (it had salmon on top, with crab meat, avocado and cucumber inside --- no rice roll). All of it was delicious. The pieces of sashimi were generously cut (bigger pieces that I expected!). Lots of locals come by to eat there, so don't be surprised if you have to wait for a table. Went here on a Saturday around 7pm and there was a bit of a line, but a table opened up for us fairly quickly. This place doesn't offer AYCE, there's one picture in the yelp menu section that's inaccurate. The rolls here are pretty standard in terms of pricing. We got a tiger roll, I believe, which had crab meat and avocado and salmon. We also got a tuna roll that was pretty spicy. Both rolls were around $14 each. We also got the takoyaki which came with 5 pieces for around $6, I think. Check in for four pieces of california roll! We got free edamame and a small scoop of ice cream at the end! You get to pick either vanilla or green tea. The place is pretty small and the staff members here are super friendly! Overall, it's a solid place for sushi. read more

Kiku Sushi never disappoints! It's one of my favorite sushi spots in SGV. The place is small, clean and very welcoming. The atmosphere is typical of any sushi restaurant, with fun-upbeat music playing. Also, the sushi chefs are awesome! They do have a few specials, which I typically get. You do get a lot of food for a great price. I would recommend the Jessica Roll and the Baked lobster roll. With their combo, you do get soup, salad, and rice with your choice of entrees. Complimentary ice cream is also a plus. Happy Hour is literally one happy hour (1:00-2:00pm). Cheap Sapporo! I've recommended many family and friends to Kiku and they have all absolutely loved it! Ordered the ramen. Not sure why all the other reviews are raving about it. It's ok, but it isn't the life-altering experience others are leading you to believe. I wouldn't even compare it to the ramen joints that specialize in ramen, because they only offer the single bowl with no variety (e.g. no broth options like salt vs. shoyu vs. miso vs. tonkatsu, etc. no garlic oil or ramen addons, etc). Every person that orders the ramen is getting the exact same bowl of noods. It's not a ramen place. It's a sushi place that offers a bowl of ramen. So, without having tried any of their sushi, all I can review on is the ramen which I felt was a little lackluster, and the reason I felt it was lackluster was because it just seems to be missing that flavor profile that you'd get elsewhere. I guess in some respects that can be a good thing, especially if you appreciate a "simpler" ramen, but as someone who typically orders black garlic miso ramen...this just didn't do it for me. read more

I am sooo glad I came across this sushi spot (that is now my go to!) the food is amazing! I used to order the dragon roll at my other fave place (and could never find another place that made them until now). I've also tried their mixed sashimi salad which is also so worth it- I like ordering it with the gyoza sauce and use it as my salad dressing... and it's one of the best salads ever. Why haven't I visited this place until now? I've only lived down the street for the past 2 years. Very unassuming little place in the Huntington Oaks shopping area. I had the chirashi, which is my go-to. There was an assortment of 4 types of sashimi & unagi, over a bed of furikake seasoned rice. Most of the fish were soft and fresh tasting, except one piece that was chewy. The one thing missing was the tamago, my favorite. Price was decent, $18 for chirashi, which is about the same for other sushi restaurants in the area. I enjoyed the pickles and the unagi was still hot and delicious. Friends had various rolls and a dinner combo, which was a great value for the price (she couldn't finish everything). Service was good. I would come back and try other rolls, but overall, pretty standard sushi. read more

My favorite Japanese restaurant in the Arcadia area. It's a pretty small restaurant but the wait isn't usually longer than 15 minutes. The wait staff is all very kind and accommodating. I usually like ordering the chirashi deluxe or a dinner combination, where you can choose two or three items from a pretty big pool of options. The chirashi deluxe comes with a lot of various standard sashimi and also uni and amaebi, two of my favorites. The sashimi tastes fresh and has good flavor. For the dinner combinations, I usually like choosing between chicken teriyaki, karrage, katsu, tempura, and one of the sushi rolls. The combinations are served with a salad, miso soup, and rice. You can't go wrong with most of the options on the combination list. I've never had anything that I'd consider bad. At the end, everyone also gets a bite size ice cream. read more

Kiku has always been one of my fav local sushi spots! Their sushi is always so fresh! They have all the regular common rolls as well as creative original rolls. Some of my favorite rolls here are The Thror, Volcano, Yellow tail, and Dynamite. They are doing a great job during COVID to keep everything clean and safe for take out. They also have cups running to use during the week except Friday and Saturday so it's a great spot to get lunch from during the week or a weekend date night in. read more
