I was staying at Chula Vista with the all inclusive package. I was happy to see there are certain cocktails included so I had a pineapple margarita. It was strong but tasty. We ordered the cheese curds appetizer and it came out extremely hot. They were delicious. I got a taco salad for my meal, also tasty. We stayed at Chula Vista recently and ate at KCG two days in a row! It was so good. They had made-to-order omelets, which were incredible. They also had tons of hot food choices from pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, and other items. The staff each day was super friendly. They even gave my husband and I free mimosas when they learned we were there for our anniversary. The food was always being filled as staff was very attentive. read more

I ordered a single 30 dollar pizza, and the lady at the front desk said it would be ready in about 20 minutes. I waited for 40 minutes before asking for an update and apparently they just forgot my order and said it would take another 20 minutes. Which, whatever, I guess. But the lady at the front desk continued to try and upsell me, asking if I wanted drinks and appetizers. Like, no! I don't want to give you even MORE of my money at this point, I just want my pizza! Not the best experience in the end. The place is nice, large, and has a model train on a track running around the ceiling. They had Black Butte Porter on tap which is such a rarity these days. There were not a lot of people when we sat down to eat. The prices are pretty high--$18.99 for fish and chips and $18.99 for six chicken wings. I will say that the fish and chips was stellar and I gave a star for that alone. The wings were not worth the price, but the fish and chips were well seasons, the breading stayed on, and the fries were perfectly done. The real problem was that when we were trying to check out the bartender ignored us for a woman who proceeded to order something like five blended drinks in different flavors. Rather than finish out our tab so we could go (he knew we were ready to settle), we had to sit there and wait for all these blended drinks to get made for someone who just wandered up to the bar. We asked the waiter for hot fries and he took care of it right away. He was very pleasant. We had a party of 7 and were seated right away on a Friday night. Went here for a bite to eat late on a Saturday night while we are staying at Chula Vista. They are usually open till 10 PM, and have a reasonably full menu. It just so happened that they were understaffed, as all businesses are lately. They seated us just outside the bar. Somebody that was in the bar was speaking very loudly and was totally obnoxious. Not the kind of atmosphere you want when you're trying to dine. Since we were so hungry, we decided to stay. We ordered an appetizer of onion rings, and two drinks from the bar. They brought the drinks out very quickly, but forgot our appetizer. They brought our entrées out first. Luckily they took it off the bill. I looked at the menu prices, and they are terribly overpriced.I would not recommend this restaurant if you are staying at Chula Vista. Your best bet is to dine out in town. Better deal, and most likely, a better atmosphere. read more

Acceptable American fare. Kilbourn Grill is located within the Chula Vista resort. Service is good, but the food is uninspiring (it is a grill pub after all). The happy hour is a good deal as appetizers are half price along with draft beers. So this makes apps about $5-6 and beers $2.5. not a bad deal. The restaurant also serves breakfast in the morning, with made it order eggs and the usual breakfasts. It was no issue at all getting a table on a Monday evening late in Jan. There was another larger table and our table. With the other ta let it allowed us to see what the restaurant had to offer. The wings looked good so I ordered wings. They don't allow a mix of wing flavors so you need to go with something that is good - I opted for the garlic parmesan which was breaded wings with a garlic butter sauce and Parmesan sprinkled on. The burgers are all ala carte, so we had the "ugly" burger a cheese burger with cheddar, grill onions, lettuce tomato and onion. (Nothing special about it). Nothing to write about, a bit dry, not much flavor. Fries are extra (but this is a $10 burger...). Cheese curds were OK, just battered cheese not much taste. So not too thrilled about the price points or the value. But they do have the usual food you'd expect them to have. My friends had the grilled NY Strip and the broiled cod. They seemed to enjoy the food, they had the same for two nights in a row. Kids meals are $4.99, the Kids Mac n cheese plate w/ chicken breast was a good portion, though the chicken was quite dry. The servers were very nice and very enthusiastic about clearing our plates (they must not come across people who like to finish every last bite of food as I've been taught to do since childhood). If I was at Chula Vista again, I''d probably just stick to the half price apps at happy hour as the wings were good. Though, I'd more likely go off campus in. Search of something more interesting and a better value. But why bother in the middle.of winter, beer and half price apps are fine in my book! read more

Service was fine but food was terrible. The pasta was flavorless, and my country fried chicken was burnt on the edges, and pounded so thin it was dry and as tough as beef jerky. The gravy it was served with was luke warm, veggies were obviously frozen from a bag, and the cheesy hash browns tasted rancid - as if the cheese or milk had gone bad. If you stay in this resort, you'd be better off leaving and getting some fast food. The Diet Pepsi tasted great. read more

We went since we were staying at the Chula Vista and had free gift cards. I would have willing paid my own cash anywhere else. Waitress was not friendly and even said she was tired and wanted to go. She didn't check on us during our meal. Food was overpriced for what you got. Steaks were cheap cuts, not cooked to order. Pizza was chewy and not crispy like you would expect from stone fire pizza. Despite its aesthetic, this establishment is more casual dining than it looks. Connected to a resort, it's targeted toward tourists. The customer service mirrors a more easy-going dining experience - though I expected something more attentive. The food is very average but satisfactory. Best described as American dining with some steak options, I would not classify this as a steakhouse or grill; more of your pizza, burgers, pasta, salad kind of place. There were TVs everywhere which were broadcasting basketball at the time of our visit, and a side bar that contributed to the laid back atmosphere. read more

This is far from that...we stay here very often and have gave them 4 tries at dinner with the same exact experience each time. Each time no server to the table for 20 min and have to go to front desk and ask what is going on. Then to have someone come and every order has been messed up after another 30 min of waiting with maybe 10 tables max each time. Worst "buffet" I've literally ever been to, compare it to hometown buffet but less than half the selection for double the price. We ate here for New Year's Eve, it was a bit pricey but thought it would be great for the kids.... made a later reservation to give the kids time to swim and time for those arriving for a quieter dining situation. First off the waitress took our order for drinks and didn't return until everyone was completely done eating (45mins) to actually bring our drinks she then had the audacity to blame her manager who we asked if she had help and said no he shrugged his shoulder, while they were busier earlier in the evening they were but when we came (9pm) they were not. Now we had a large group (19) and I completely understand but she brought us our drinks at 10pm 1 hour later never stopped in to check on us, never even stopped in to say "hey I know it's taking me a bit I'm working on it". Now at a buffet with that many people 1 hour usually isn't enough time to get your money's worth (and we're talking 30$+ per person. The buffet selection was the literal worst we've ever seen. "Beef" that looked like something subway would serve on a 5$ foot long, a salad bar ( which was the only actual enjoyable item), tater tots, corn dogs, and dry crusty Mac and cheese, chicken that looked like it was fresh off a bike in Vietnam. For 36$ an adult i think not. When the issue was brought up the waitress said "I'll take off the kids meals" she brought the checks to us with like 2/6 family's meals adjusted to the lower price but not comped off the check as told. Then when asked for a manager he stated there was nothing further he could do to help the situation. Then another manager was brought over to make this terrible joke of a 100$ meal right. We were told he was coming but it was 40 mins after we were brought the drinks and checks, we decided we could no longer wait and wanted to just get out of there and be with our families. As we were walking back to our rooms we ran into the manager and his higher up who then offered us to join them for breakfast. After paying so much money for a crappy hotel room I certainly will NEVER stay or dine here at Chula Vista in my life. I visit the Dells quite frequently and this has been the worst by far. Totally agree with the negative posts spoke to someone named Joe or Joel regarding incorrect order, informed him ingredient was missing from order; large group each person has taken a slice so half of the pizza is no longer available. Joe or Joel states will need to charge me for another pizza yet I was already charged for the wrong pizza at least refund me for the missing ingredient and also no 3 dollars for a cup of soda. We are "members" at Chula Vista, and even though we get a 50% discount here, I won't eat here again. We been here several times, and each time we are disappointed. The food is mediocre at best- we are in Wisconsin and the cheeses curds are breaded, not battered?!? The service is horrible, always understaffed. They got rid of the "one trip" to the salad bar, but didn't remove it from their menu. I ordered it, and at the end of my meal I was charged for unlimited. When I pointed it out, I was told it was discontinued two weeks ago and they refused to give me the price for the "one trip". I would only come here for the breakfast buffet, otherwise stay away, you can do so much better in town. read more

Stayed at Chula Vista. Went to get takeout (bc I have little kids and it was later) at the restaurant and they said they were too busy for a takeout order. Doesn't make sense to me takeout should be easier because I will take my food and leave hense not be in there way while there busy. The pricing and food quality communicates such disrespect for the consumer. This is a 1st time review because the experience was so wretched prompting me to sign up for yelp to warn others. Start with price. Any decent restaurant would not charge over $20 per person for a dinner that used "one" roll on each dinner plate that came from a mass market supermarket. Add in french fries that obviously were from the same mass market supermarket that were frozen, and heated up. Vegetables - from same frozen food isle. Main dishes for all, if zero stars were possible, then this would warrant no stars. Disclaimer, this restaurant is part of a resort therefore one expects to pay prices that might be marked up a small percentage from local fare, however, this resort promotes an atmosphere that indicates high quality fare without delivering the goods. How a resort can look their guest in the eye with a smile knowing that they are giving you fast food restaurant fare at 5 star restaurant quality speaks volumes of management's view of their guests. Any decent chef would be embarrassed to serve such low grade food. There are absolutely no excuses. read more
