We love Killarney's. The only thing better than the food is the service. Every time we come here the staff welcomes us. You can tell they are proud to work here and talk about the history of the establishment. My favorite appetizer is the buffalo cauliflower. Ok, it's a bar, bars are loud, I get it.... I go to Hooleys quite often in La Mesa, but this bar is sooo loud, that my party and our server had to shout back and forth several times, just to get our order straight. The music was piping in over our heads so loud that I couldn't enjoy my out of town company! I ended up getting a headache by the end of the night, from all the shouting... Speaking of shouting, there was an obnoxiously loud patron, visibly drunk and shouting at the tv every 5 minutes. The barkeep just looked on and laughed, but even the servers looked at her like they wanted to kick her out. It was definitely off putting. The server was kind, patient and knowledgeable. The pretzel was delicious and the drinks were good. I'd be willing to come back and give this establishment another chance and review, if they turn down the overhead music a little and gain control over their rowdy customers. read more

Terrible service and worse kitchen crew.. we came there on a Tuesday nobody was sitting anywhere except the bar. One of our group ordered a soup it came 45 minutes later I ordered an appetizer.. it came 50 minutes later.. these dishes should have come out first. there were four of us in total and each dish came 15 minutes apart it was completely stupid and unprofessional. I will never eat there again it was my first time eating there. I think this was due to the kitchen staff but I think the waitress was not very good with coordinating things either. 20/10... You know those places you find that are *so good* you kiiiinda don't want to tell people about? This place, this is that place. The entire place was literally built in Ireland and shipped over. There are like hideouts you can sit in and just be away from everyone if you want, huge bar, TVs but not so many it's hot/loud/annoying, but you can still glance over and catch a score. Food, freaking great. Huge selection for everyone of traditional Irish to traditional American bar food. Service was great. They were on it but like funny and not overbearing. We've ate here a few times. We came on the latest visit for taco Tuesday.....yeah you say tacos at an Irish pub...lol yep tried four different tacos...fish, corned beef, ground beef and chicken. The fish taco was the best and ordered a 2nd one. We washed the tacos down with margaritas which hit the spot. We had a total of 8 tacos and 2 margaritas and the tab was $19.60 What a deal I say! With your yelp check in you get a 10% discount on your bill... so don't forget to check in! We've also had bangers and mash and a few other dishes that were quite good. Full bar with all spirits, craft beers and wine. Have an outside patio with lots of seats so I'd presume they are dog friendly. Lots of parking here there located in a big center. They have a pretty good taco Tuesday deal--$1 street tacos, $1.50 for the corn beef and fish tacos, $2 margaritas. Between my husband and I we had 8 tacos and two margaritas for less than $20! The corn beef tacos were yummy! I'm going to return to have their corn beef and cabbage. I think there was a sign in the restaurant advertising a $10 corn beef and cabbage meal, but I didn't look close enough to see when this is being offered (I'm slipping on being a helpful Yelper, sorry!). Killarney's is a casual sports bar kinda of place. Happy hour is Monday-Friday. We ate here once before but never returned until now, not really sure why. It's a good place for a casual meal at a reasonable price. By the way, the yelp check in offer of 10% off the check doesn't apply to taco Tuesday. There were some items that were good and some that were amazing. We would order everything again for sure but let's go over the amazing. The staff. So I'm torn on this but let's go to the end result that the staff is amazing. I can totally see of service could appear to be lacking IF this place is packed. But that doesn't mean the staff doesn't care, they are amazing... just busy. She came by 3 times letting me know the status of my order, and the food came out hot and ready. She even explained where the items were in the bags. Great take out service... plus I don't mind waiting for good food. The awesome. Fish and chips were awesome. Great size, golden brown and not soaked in oil. Fries were good too. I liked the shep pie too. The bread pudding... idc what you ordered but get that with a shot to pour over it. Cali!!!! If you don't tip her extra I'll be knocking on your door! During the pandemic (not that it's over) we were so worried she would go somewhere else. The first couple times back we missed her shifts and were severely less excited to come back especially after we received extremely small portions at full price on a St. Patties day order last year. It was almost like they didn't plan right and gave all orders that weren't being presented face to face 1/3 the portion (seriously 1/3) in order to have enough for people that came in person. It was very sad and a complete 180 from what we typically experience here. Anywho, back to Cali. Tonight we returned and to our delightful surprise CALI came to our table. We almost didn't recognize her at first because personal style changes but she recognized us (been at least a year) and we immediately knew it really was her! I have never been so excited/relieved to see a waitress before, ever!! She is personable, funny, ACCURATE and has a heart of gold. If you are lucky enough to be let into her world you will see it for yourself. The food here is good and usually reliable especially when dining in, but it's pub food. You can get that anywhere these days. For us, it's Cali that keeps us coming back. When she is there we notice the order is always correct, nothing ever takes long, she never forgets a thing and she remembers you and your order the next time you come. I always get the full Irish Cobb. The toast is yummy, the lettuce is fresh, the corn-beef is well trimmed, the egg is never over cooked and the avocado is never brown. The half is a pretty good size as well so if you are not starving just get that. Our daughter got the chicken strips with fries. The fries are wonderfully seasoned and taste fantastic with their ranch. The chicken has a great breading on it and are pretty large in size so don't let the 2 pieces description fool you... it's enough. Hubby get the bacon blue cheese burger. I don't know what they do to the bacon but this is the only place he pulls the bacon out and eats it by itself. Must be delicious. The burger is always cooked nicely. He not a fan of onions so it's not pictured accurately but trust me it's wonderful!! Show up, eat in and ask for Cali!! Get to know her, tip her extra and enjoy your evening! My friend Clint told me about this place a couple years ago. I checked it out and have been supporting this local business since. Food was decent, burgers were good, and service was great. With that said, the last year the service has been Lame. Stuck up waitress with attitude, rude, and disrespectful! Bartenders with attitudes! Especially the older lady who ignores you. This isn't the first time either. While there's a few cool girls there, it's still not enough for me to want to return. While I know weekends at a pub are usually busy, tonight was no excuse for rudeness. The guy who was hosting was great. However, our server asking for our drink order was dismissive and rude. First time being here and not very impressed. We went here for a family get together and went with a party of nine. I will break this down in categories. Service: 5 out of 5, the staff was friendly and knew the menu items very well along with knowing what the items tasted like in order to give accurate recommendations. Food taste : 1 out of 5, the food is just a typical order from any common place. Atmosphere: 5 out of 5, they have several bar games like darts, shuffleboard and connect four. My girlfriend and I have been dining here for close to a year now. Monday nights are our Favorite thanks to their BYOB 'Build Your Own Burger' special at just $8 Every Monday. We like our burgers Rare. I recently tried a Beef burger on a Ciabatta bun with Honey Sriracha sauce, Pepper Jack cheese with Jalapeños, Sautéed Mushrooms and Red Onions. Nice & Spicy with an Elysian Space Dust on tap, plus the fries make it a decent meal. Music is always playing and Screens are always active. We used to go here a lot to unwind, play darts, sing karaoke and enjoy the delicious Teriyaki Burger and calamari. I guess we haven't been here in a long time and my two favorites are no longer in the menu. My husband and I decided to walk last night to get something to eat and we thought about Killarney's and the atmosphere still the same and we had one round of cocktail drink for me and beer for my husband and end up with their delicious Killarney's wings for appetizer, shepherds pie and Bangers with a mashed and it's very good especially the flavorful mashed potatoes. The service was wonderful, all friendly staff. We will definitely start coming back again when my husband and I have the same schedule. Thanks to our server I'm sorry I didn't get her name but we are happy with your service! And to the staff the brought food on time and the host that acknowledged us right away and sit us. 5 stars over all! My friends and I came in for happy hour (3PM-6:30PM) Friday afternoon at around 3 PM. We waited to be seated for about 3 minutes and eventually just seated ourselves. The drinks on the happy hour menu were kind of ambiguous and not amateur friendly as I soon realized. When I asked for recommendations, the waitress was unable to tell me since she had just started working here. She did offer a beer sampler, but failed to mention the cost for the sampler as I realized later on. She ended up waiving the fee. On top of that, my friend who paid separately was not given exact change back; my friend ended up just factoring the difference into the tip. For the appetizers, we ended up ordering the "Irish" gravy fries (gravy, grilled onions, mushrooms over french fries), which were delicious. We also ordered the spinach artichoke pizza which was not bad and the beer battered mushrooms, which I wasn't a fan of. The shuffleboard, darts, and board games looked worn out, but were fun nonetheless. Would I go back? Only if someone invited me to go. Otherwise, I can live without it. read more

Sorry but I'm down to a Three Star Rating for this Pub. Came here for great bite to eat and a cold one after seeing all the great food pictures here on Yelp. Sadly Most Of The Great Irish Food seen in the pictures they no longer have on the menu. No Great Steak Dinners. No Combo Choice of Three Dinners. Not much on Pasta Dishes. NO Bangers and Mash. (Can You Imagine That). IT IS AN IRISH PUB. I'm sure there is more I didn't notice. That explains why on a Friday Night 6:00pm the place was empty. Also No Happy Hour that I saw. I was disappointed the say the least. Now for the good and the reason I give it a solid Three Stars. It's a nice clean and friendly Place. My Server was Friendly and Helpful. The Brew Was Cold and Tasty with a great selection to choose from. I had The Shepherds Pie. It was Very Very Good and I would have it again sometime. Almost makes up for NO BANGERS AND MASH.
