One of the best ramen places in the DMV for sure! I have come here many times! I like that they have the chicken broth option, since I don't eat pork. I ordered the Spicy Kimen Ramen with chicken broth and chicken chasu. It's so delicious! The chicken Karaage was also good! The employees were also so nice and the service was quick! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the ambience! It feels like we're at a ramen joint somewhere in Japan![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Pork ramen - delicious!

The ramen was great! So was the extra broth!! I ordered through Uber Eats, but the food took FOREVER to arrive! That was the only problem. However, I will order from here again at some point.

Kimen Ramen is a nice place to eat when you're craving a warm bowl of ramen, especially now with it being colder. The ramen has different broths, where we got spicy and shoyu, very flavorful, and soft noodles that taste really good. The bowls come with a good amount of toppings like chicken, egg, and veggies. The table has chili sauce to add for a spicier kick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the decorations and music, and good conversation starters with the anime posters/magazine cutouts.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is friendly, and the food comes out quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is clean and has a simple, relaxed, cozy vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a solid ramen place; I like the decor of all the anime panels across the walls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a strong izakaya type menu with lots of appetizers, rice bowls, etc. - if that's your jam then this is a strong option. For me I just want ramen, and everything about the spicy bowl just left me wanting more. All the base elements are there but nothing stood out. Broth's a little like, the chashu a bit chewy, noodles a bit too soft. Felt like a jack of all trades, master of none deal. I think it's decent if you're local or already there, but I wouldn't make the trip for it. Honestly I think I'd rather have a chain like Akira or Jinya. Just not my cup of tea.

Kimen Ramen - Fairfax A solid Japanese ramen spot just minutes from GMU -- I usually stop in after class. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy little shop with good value (most bowls under $20).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've tried almost everything on the menu. The seafood ramen is flavorful, but peeling shrimp mid-meal takes away from the experience. My go-to is the spicy miso ramen with chicken -- hearty, balanced, and consistently tasty (a strong 4/5). The spicy Kimen ramen is another good option, though I prefer it with chicken over pork. Last time with pork I'd rate it more like 3.5/5 -- still good, but the miso has the edge. Overall, Kimen isn't the best ramen you'll ever have, but it's reliably tasty, filling, and affordable. Definitely worth it if you're nearby or a GMU student looking for a quick ramen fix. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tucked into the shopping plaza, Kimen Ramen provided a cozy atmosphere and great food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried the chicken karage and gyoza for apps. Both were pretty good! I had the tantanmen for my entree and my husband got the spicy ramen. I think his broth was more flavorful than mine, but I really liked that they didn't up charge for the toppings. The jammy egg was a nice touch. I think I would add more spice next time or switch over to the spicy ramen instead. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Parking is ample but seating is limited![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We came here by accident . [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small restaurant was full of.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat outdoors . Nice two person table .[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waiter not too friendly . Wanted to feel welcomed . We ordered two types of ramen Tintamen and Seafood Ramen. Both were ok .I asked for the condiment .After adding few drops of chili oil and soy sauce the flavor came through . She did come back to check on us . I liked the seafood Ramen more . Good portion of seafood . Flavor was good too .

Great food! I had the kimen ramen and chicken karaage. The kimen ramen alone was more than enough for me. So much food, but delicious! They were generous with their chicken karaage, too. I kinda wished their chicken karaage was crispier, though. Customer service was fantastic! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Note, their restaurant is tiny, so you may not be able to fit a large party here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd like to come back sometime.

I found this hidden little gem in a shopping center about 30 minutes away from Washington, DC. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small cozy restaurant, with cute decorations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant can accommodate about 20-25 for occupancy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started out with drinks, it's canned soda with no refills. We started with appetizers the pork gyoza and kimchi (interesting), unfortunately there was no special sauce with it. We all ordered the kimen and miso ramen. The kimen ramen was hot and flavorful especially during the winter season to warm your belly fulls. It was delicious about a 9.0 out of 10. I recommend this place if you are looking for a cute ramen shop to enjoy food!

Chilly night called for ramen and Kimen delivered. Started with the Tako wasabi (octopus); a refreshing appetizer. Then ordered the Tantanmen ramen which was spicier than your typical miso or shoyu based ramen. Compared to other ramen places that give you one, you get two pieces of pork (or chicken) with options to add more on top of the standard toppings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance similar to small ramen places in Japan; however, they needed a double door as you would get a draft of cold air every time someone opened the door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices were on par with other places and service was quick and polite.

A small cute ramen shop with good food. The service was good, lady was kind and was doing her job. The takoyaki here is good and in my top 3 spots. It has a nice crispy outside with 1-2 pieces of octopus inside. I got the spicy Kimen Ramen and it was a good medium spice but i added chilli oil and their extra hot sauce that's on the table. The employee saw me eyeing the hot sauce and she warned me, it is extremely hot and i loved that it was an option (i love spicy spicy). The broth was super flavorful and the egg is always cooked to perfection. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A solid ramen shop, with good service, nice and clean inside, with draft sapporo beer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

FOOD I had their shoyu ramen, and it was the perfect comfort food for a chilly evening. The broth was rich in umami, the dish was satisfyingly filling, and the toppings added a great contrast in texture to the noodles. DRINKS They have various alcoholic drinks and soft drinks available for purchase. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. AMBIANCE There are about 5-8 tables inside the restaurant for groups of 2-8. A mix of bar and table seating is available. PARKING Ample parking is available in the plaza lot.

A treasure of a place!! Truly delicious ramen!! We recently visited Japan and this place took us back! It is a small place but they have several tables and seating options. Their decor is super fun and captivating. Service is perfect, they are inviting, attentive and polite. I'll say it again, their ramen is amazing! Pork bun is delicious, and I am sure they're other plates are spot on too! Will try the curry next time. 10/10 recommend!

The bad thing about Genki Izakaya is how crowded it can be. I'm not sure I would show up without reservations again. I've been there 3 times, the first time we didn't have a reservation and the hostess seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. She said the waitlist was very long. We decided not to wait. The second time we also didn't have a reservation and the hostess again seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. This time we did wait and were quoted 1.5 hours and it actually took about an hour. Not as bad as quoted but still busy! Third time we finally had a reservation and it still took us 20 mins to get seated as they did not have a table ready for us. To be honest the restaurant itself seems too small, they probably could be twice as big. The reason is the food at Genki Izakaya is in my opinion the best of the 3 Izakayas in the area. The Yakitori is good, hot and reasonably priced although I wish they would let you customize the $20 Yakitori Platter. I tried the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Hot Stone and was surprised that they cook it for you instead of you cooking it yourself on the hot stone. The waiter overcooked 2 pieces of the Wagyu which is annoying when it is so expensive but overall it tasted great. I like their Tonkotsu Ramen, it broth tastes great and I've had ramen all over this area, in New York City, LA area, Tokyo and Kyoto. It isn't the best I've ever tasted but it is really good especially for this area. Once seated the service is good and the food comes out quickly and everything we've had has tasted great. The only problem is how crowded it can be because its so popular! Only bad thing for us is it isn't too close about a 45 min drive but worthwhile - definitely try it if you like Izakayas and Japanese food.

It was around $18.50. you get a lot for the price. The pork was really well marinated, had a lot of flavor, and they were not stingy with the amount. It also felt somewhat healthy since it came with a nice variety of sides. The meal came with three banchan: bean sprouts, kimchi, and cucumbers. They were all good and nicely pickled. There was also a small miso soup, which was a nice touch. The sides made the meal feel like a great deal. You get rice, and the purple rice upgrade was free. The salad was good too. it was not the ginger-style dressing. The tempura came with four pieces, and it was actually crispy panko instead of just being soft batter, which is always a good sign. The sushi was good as well, and the California roll came with three pieces. The vibe was also really welcoming. It was still busy on a Sunday around 1:30, which makes it seem like people really like this place. I also liked that they had self-pour water, which is always nice for a casual spot. Overall, this was a great meal. The portions were big, the food had a lot of flavor, and the value was really good. I totally recommend Maru Ramen & Korean Cuisine.

However, there was a sign on their day saying they were now only open for lunch. Of course, we were disappointed, but were quickly able to figure out that there was another Maru location in the Pan Am shopping center. I was familiar with Pan Am because I buy art supplies at the Plaza store there. So, we headed over to the Pan Am Maru. A friendly staffer promptly seated us. About half the tables were occupied. We asked out server what was going on with the Vienna Maru and she told us they were gradually shutting it down completely. However, the Pan Am Maru is not fully functional yet. They have a sushi counter but it won't open until next year. I also don't know if the current Pan Am Maru menu is the one they are going with going forward. But I do note it is smaller than the one at the Vienna Maru, noting in particular that the lunch options, such as the bento boxes, are not on the Pan Am Maru menu. If they have done away with the bento boxes, I'm not that interested in returning. Service at the Pan Am Maru was very good. The ambience is comfortable. We ordered Spicy Pork Bulgogi, Spicy Chicken Bulgogi, Japchae, and the Katsu special. When they say the pork and chicken bulgogi are spicy, Mary is not fooling around. These dishes are hot spicy! The place was filling up and the ambiance reminds me of a traditional bustling noodle house - perfect for the cold snap we were experiencing at the time. We got hot and sour noodle soup, sichuan beef noodle soup, and an order of their pork soup dumplings. Portions are generous and prices are fair, it's easy to become a regular here if you live nearby. The hot and sour noodle soup is as advertised - just enough spice to complement the sour, but not overwhelm to make it feel like mala. It's served, as expected, with glass noodles, some bak choi, and some pork slices. Nothing spectacular but par for the course. The sichuan beef noodle foon soup was slight notch better. The broth gives really warm vibe and you can tell it's been brothing for a long time. Again just the right amount of spicy to make you keep slurping for more. The noodles were average, chewy, but not bouncy. Also comes with a healthy amount beef slices and bak choi. Again - a great noodle soup bowl but nothing jaw dropping. Soup dumplings were fantastic, however. The pork definitely has its own marinade and the soup is flavorful. The dumpling skin is well constructed and complemented well with the noodle soups - especially in cold weather. tldr; solid noodle soup spot, they seem to be consistent and really hits the mark when you're in a for your noodle fix. They explain the menu, walk you through how everything works, and make sure to check for any allergies before you order. They start you with a side of veggies, cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, etc., and a side of udon, even though they tell you not to use the udon until the end. Then you order the protein or proteins you want. After that, you basically squish squish until the meat is cooked and go for it. I got the signature beef, which is what they're known for, and the scallops. Both were very good and fresh.
