Ambiance is authentic, comfortable, beautifully designed decorations. When you enter it feels like you have transported to another place. You are greeted with a big smile. It's a small and cozy restaurant and can fill up easily but the food is worth the squeeze. The Mochi around the green tea ice cream literally melts in your mouth. Great taste, not too sweet. The place Pro: This restaurant gives a cozy feeling Con: Because this place is small, it gets filled up quickly. They place the music way too loud and it was very difficult to carry a conversation. Hopefully they will be more mindful in the future. Def recommending making reservation during high peak hours. We ordered the Miso Ramen, Spicy Ramen The Original Ramen. For each type of ramen, you can choose the meat to be either chicken or pork. We also ordered the Katsudon. Ramen: The noodle is nicely cooked. It is not mushy and has a nice bite to it. As you chew the noodles in your mouth, you can feel the springing texture of the noodle. The veggies/egg are very fresh and the egg is perfectly cooked. The yolk of the egg is nice and gelatinous with good flavor being soaked in the soy sauce marinate. The broth has a lot of body and flavor. As soon as you take a spoonful of the soup, you feel instant comfort and warmth coats your throat as the soup goes down. Very pleasant flavor and feeling. The Miso ramen's soup base was a bit too salty, but can be diluted with some water as needed. The Katsudon: The Katsudon typically has the sweet soy sauce and this particular sauce was sweeter than other Katsudon I have had in other place. Definitely noticeable the sweetness but not appalling. They did put a lot of the sauce so when you start eating away from the top to the bottom portion, you can see the rice immersed in a puddle of the sauce. Again, not bad tasting, but a bit more than what I was used to. Because the restaurant is so small and there are people constantly coming in, it was a bit difficult to be relaxed while you are eating and I felt a bit rushed b/c there are people standing, wait for a table to be opened. However, with all that said, the food overall is of higher quality than other ramen restaurants we have been in the area and we did enjoy the ramen very much. read more

Have been to Kimen ramen a handful of times over the course of the last year or so. What can I say.... Maybe I'd come more often if I was closer. It's not the best classic ramen, it's not the most convenient from me, and it's not the one that "hits the spot" but frankly there's nothing wrong with it. The ramen is actually pretty good but the broth is pretty thick. Normally I don't mind but it seems like they might not have lighter options for other people. The agedashi tofu had good flavor but was soaking for quite a bit so the casing was a bit soggy . LOVED this place! Went with my partner for date night and had a great time! Atmosphere is very cute, with Japanese ads and cartoons on the walls. VERY limited seating- we saw people that were politely turned away because all tables were full! Definitely the place to come for an early dinner with a small group! Extra tip- if it's cold outside and there are options for seating choose the places further from the door- it's a busy spot and some winter air will be coming in! My partner ordered the Pork Miso Ramen and I ordered the Chicken Spicy Ramen. Both of us LOVED our options. I thought the spicy ramen was perfect for what I needed in the winter- clearing out my sinuses while still being able to appreciate the flavors of the dish. From the weird oily version of Japanese curry that had no substance, no carrots, no onions, no potatoes, and appeared to be reconstituted, to the ramen broth that looked authentic but mostly tasted like salt, to the rock-hard charsu bun that had clearly been steamed early in the day and left to sit until it dried out into the consistency of a hockey puck, nothing was particularly good. Came here for a friend's birthday and cannot recommend this place enough!! The staff are beyond nice and made sure our party of five was well-attended to at all times. Their space is pretty small but they were able to accommodate us with no reservation in a matter of a few minutes. And they have outdoor seating. The food itself was very good. Our table got edamame, karrage chicken, katsu curry, gyudon, miso soup, and the spicy ramen and everyone loved what they ordered. I've been a few times and my boyfriend has been several more and both of us keep wanting to go back and try other things. We stopped here for lunch on our quest to find high quality ramen in the suburbs. Upon arrival we were impressed by the ambiance. A tiny izakaya with only a few tables and very retro Japanese. Service was prompt and I found the menu to be a good selection of Japanese apps, main dishes, and ramen. They also appeared to have a large saki menu. We ordered the Takowasabi, which was a very sizable portion and came with some Nori to make mini wraps. It didn't have as much Wasabi as I would have liked but was still fresh and very good. We ordered both the Miso and Spicy Ramen. Both were sizable and had a decent amount of toppings. We both found the broth to be on the lighter side requiring some soy and chili sauce to make it more robust. However, once we mixed those items in it was a very good bowl of ramen. Kimen has definitely presented itself as a contender and we will be back to try their other dishes. read more

Server was nice and decor is really cute. I was disappointed though because the flavor of two different ramens (miso and original) tasted the same. You know the broths not great when you keep adding chili oil to taste something. It might have been an off time as the server was working alone but service was slow and we got our own water refills. The chashu bun also had a salty strong flavor. It was much softer though than the chashu used in the ramen. The chashu in the ramen tasted hard and chewier like a grilled pork piece rather than melting or easily ripping apart. Next time I will go back to marumen unfortunately. read more

I'm probably inflating my rating a bit but I'd like to see this place succeed and really get a foothold. I really quite enjoyed my visit there. I went in by myself and got the basic pork ramen. I'm a ramen novice but I was hunting for good broth and this was pretty good in the scheme of things. The rest of the ingredients were also on point. I ordered a side of kimchi that I probably won't get again next time. I will say the restaurant itself was so neat. It was clean, chic, bright, had some great lighting. I liked the feel and how much they did with the space, really taking into consideration space constraints and privacy. Hats off to them for developing a cool place to sit and have a bowl of ramen. The JPop music, though I'm unfamiliar, actually because quite enjoyable to have as a backdrop. There were a few people running things while I was there and they were also on point. Everyone was attentive, timed things well, were helpful with food selections, and observant to my needs and checking in on me. It's probably the best level of service one could hope for in a place like this. Hats off to them again on executing their scheme and not having me go wanting for anything. It's also open til 11 PM which is a plus. So give it a whirl when you get a chance. The prices were more than reasonable and I felt like the experience all in all was a great value. read more
