Quality of service is great: the waitress saw that there was a large piece of hair on my dish and immediately took it away to fix it. Food quality: Food is underpar. The menu has your typical American breakfasts, which I love a good eggs benedict. But the quality was not as great as I was hoping for. The restaurant gives a feel of a diner with checkered tables. I like that theme, although the cleanliness of the tables and booths were not as clean as I was hoping for. Parking is pretty easy as there is a lot behind the restaurant. The waitress lacks personality and at times felt like we were a bother. The food was ok. Omelet was packed with items I chose but was over cooked and dry. The hash browns were so oily I couldn't eat them. My sister got the hash and it takes like they added a spice to it which we wished they wouldn't have. Over all we won't be back. Came here for breakfast the other day and ordered corn beef hash meal and a OC special with a side of sourdough toast. Arrived and they do you have indoor seating and there wasn't a wait which was around 9:30 AM. It was pretty decently spread out in comparison to usual of course. Staff were quick to take her orders and wasn't long before the food came out maybe like 15 minutes. This place is nostalgic for me and my family. We used to frequent the Fullerton Kim's when it first opened the staff was always very friendly and welcoming. This weekend we ate at the Brea location and I have to say things have changed. The restaurant didn't have that warm welcome home feel that it used to have when we asked for coffee creamer. The waitress just dumped a few small blue pods on the table and walked away. The food was nowhere near as good as it used to be. I ordered chicken fried steak in the past. It felt like it was homemade now it feels like just another frozen patty the eggs were bland and undercooked, and tasted like they were powdered eggs. It used to be when you went to Kimmy's your coffee cup never went empty that is no longer the case. It was hard to get a refill and when we finally did, the waitress walked away without asking if we needed anything else. I wanted to try this small family business but as soon as I came in, I saw the servers face of unwelcome and disgust. I was shocked and was told to go sit on left and then right and I was so confused. I didn't know what to think since I was feeling racism vibes from the servers as soon as we came in.. once I saw the " all American flags " all over the restaurant i realized that we weren't welcomed because we were not white . How sad . I wanted to believe I was wrong. Before going to the restaurant I looked up this restaurant's instagram and saw they posted Christian music with their posts and felt I wanted to support a Christian family business but their business and behavior was nothing of what Christ is truly like. I felt bad for someone in 2025 still choosing to have hate for someone that looks "different ". The food was bland. I asked my child if he felt anything in the restaurant and he said, I felt racism. First time to this Kimmies and this is a Brea Gem came Sunday morning around 7am .super cute location .First let's start with the greeting at the front door amazing the staff was super friendly and everyone had a smile it felt like you were part of the family. It was a nice feeling walking in and everyone eating having a good time talking and eating breakfast Let's get to the food I got the Kimmies Sausage patty with eggs hash browns and biscuits and gravy. 5 stars for sure the sausage patty was so good lots of flavor and a hint of spice. The hash browns were golden brown and crispy let's get to the biscuits super soft and moist inside top it off with the gravy amazing. My wife got the bacon and eggs with red potatoes and green and white onions she loved it. We saw some great looking meals on the way out can't wait to try them all. My partner and I have been coming to Kimmies for years! Food is good but overpriced. Yet we didn't mind because the place provided quality and convenience. Lately, however, customer service has been progressively worse. Yes, it's a small establishment and there's only the older lady with the two young girls staffing the place. We have been patient and understanding many times. But we are no longer going to bring our business to Kimmies. They raised the prices due to the egg shortage and we gladly went along with it. Now, explain to me why the waitresses gave us a crappy attitude over us asking for our missing toast in one of our orders. We of course shared the other toast but, if I pay for it, and then I ask twice for it... shouldn't you apologize instead of giving us a cold shoulder and restingbitchface the rest of our time at the counter? Place has good breakfast, but unfortunately I have to say this but this place made my mom, little brother and my fiancé sick. My fiancé was vomiting, Diarrhea, and made her have very painful abdominal pain a couple of hours later after leaving from Kimmies, I don't know if there was something in her omelette that was expired or salmonella, or something but it got her to the point where I had to take her to the hospital and had to miss work. I used to love coming here but I always felt uneasy. The service always seemed unfriendly whenever I'm here with my family. We being asian, in a white establishment... you just feel it from time to time at this joint. The waitresses always seemed annoyed whenever we ordered, or asked for anything. They would sigh or roll their eyes. I observed how they treated others and it confirmed my suspicion. Went there this morning for breakfast and sat down at the bar stools. We literally sat there as 2 of the young waitresses looked at us numerous times and not once did they ask if we had been helped!! They both just leaned on the counter next to the cash register sipping their drinks. One of them had dark hair and wore glasses. The other girl had dishwater blond hair. My husband got The salad, it was nice and crisp super refreshing perfect pint of dressing/cheese and croutons, let me just point out the small croutons which I loved I usually dislike the big croutons used at other places. Came in at the ungodly hour of 7am on a Sunday to Kimmie's during Mothers' day on recommendation of Yelper Jim W, who is an habitué of this breakfast palace. Classic American diner that would be comfortable somewhere in the Midwest but near the border of Brea & Fullerton. Open only for breakfast & lunch, but dark for dinner. Service is clipped, efficient, not with the stereotypical Hon or Honey on comedy TV. Mostly traditional American, but Mexicanesque touches of breakfast burritos, tacos, quesadillas, etc. I got the Mexican Scramble, 3 eggs, that looks more like an Italian Fritatta. Pleasantly dense egg texture containing red bell pepper, canned Ortega chile, sweet Japapeño, chopped tomato, house made pork sausage, shredded corn tortillas, melted, stringy cheddar & jack cheese. Topped w/ sour cream, luscious, fully ripened, buttery, avocado, funky, fresh green herbal, sulfur tinged green onion. What made this eggy dish was that the fresh vegetal ingredients were chopped and not fully cooked so they retained their al dente, refreshing textures. House made salsa is stewed, puréed tomato, onion w/ a good hint of cilantro. A bit overblended perhaps & no detectable chile heat, but a slug of Tapatio hot sauce w/ smoky Chipotle & other red chiles, vinegar acidity for flavour wakenIng gastrique was a good accompaniment to the Mexican Scramble's subtly sweet undertone. Hash Browns are standard shredded potatoes browned to a crispy texture on the outside & soft potato earthiness inside. It is a cute little spot and on Sunday afternoon around 1 pm there was plenty of room to sit and eat. Food - the food was edible. Nothing fantastic. Just seemed like the type of food you buy from a supplier. Nothing seemed fresh or made in house. The exception would be the gravy. It was decent. I had the country fried steak with eggs over medium and hash browns well done. Also a waffle well done. Nothing well done about those hash browns and as previously stated the country fried steak just seemed like something you would buy pre-made and just heat up and serve. The waffle was bready. Nothing really wrong with that if that is what you like but not my favorite type of waffle. I like light and crispy. Service - the service was okay. I had a nice lady serve me as opposed to one of the younger girls. The lady was nice and came by a few times to make sure I was good and my soda was refreshed. At one point near the end of my visit one of the girls asked me if I would like a refill. Not overly welcoming or even welcoming at all but there was service. Now I have read things about racism and entitlement. Being an older Hispanic male I didn't feel they were being racist towards me nor do I understand how someone could determine if someone felt they were entitled as they worked as a server in a coffee shop. I did not experience any of that. Overall it was a place to eat. Not a place I would go out of my way to visit again, but if I was starving, I was close by, and there was no wait I would eat here again. However, those would be the only circumstances for a revisit. Best food and staff. Small and quaint inside and plenty of seating outside under a cover. Parking behind can get congested but I have been able to find a spot every time (try not to park in the spot for the liquor store by the street in back because it makes it hard for folks to pop in and out of the liquor store). Kimmies is disability friendly and has a large single stall bathroom inside.
