Usually this place is okay but I went with my family and they forgot 3 (of 4) orders tonight. We waited for a while and when we finally asked, they came to the realization that the printer to the kitchen ran out of paper and no one was aware of the order. Usually wouldn't care as much but I had my family (two young sons) with me and now we have to stop by somewhere else to get food. Hooray! Is this the best Korean food I have ever had? No. Is this the best Korean food in LA? No. Is this the best Korean food on the hill (PV)? Yes! I had come back from a long business trip and was just tired and wanted to eat something that wasn't fried or American. I had heard about Kim's bbq from my friends and never ventured to try it since I wanted to let them figure out the restaurant opening before I tried. It was a hot summer day and was looking for some naengmyon (Korean cold noodle) since I had been craving that. Their website was down, but i called them and lo and behold they had a cold noodle combo with Galbi! I was sold and immediately drove over. It was a Friday evening and half the tables were occupied which was great to see. Most people were eating BBQ, but i wanted to just get the combo. The restaurant was very clean and the bowls and the silver ware definitely had a nice luster to them that was different than what you would see elsewhere. Service was prompt and quick. Now for the food: Banchan (side dishes) - Good enough. Kimchi was great and the cucumbers were refreshing. Fish cake was standard. This didn't stand out, but I wasn't hear for this. Naengmyun - Broth lacked some flavor, but the noodles were done well and the soup did not border on being too sweet. The traditional mustard and vinegar condiments were provided and I was able to mix it to my liking. Galbi - cooked well and the meat wasn't too fatty like you see elsewhere. Meat quality was high. I live nearby, so I've been to this place several times. My experience has been... consistently bad. Food is very overpriced. Portions are too small. Not enough banchan (side dishes). Service? In general, pretty understaffed and not well-trained. They are clearly struggling because there aren't enough staff. So it's not their fault. The worst part is that the owner is a major jerk. And he is prejudiced against his own Korean customers. If you are Korean, and he detects that you are Korean, he will serve you last, skimp on your order, and rush you out, making you feel unwelcome. If you don't believe me, check out some of the other 1-star reviews for this place. Okay, you can't always tell if a Yelp reviewer is Korean, but sometimes you can, so check out what they are complaining about. If the owner figures out that you are Korean, he will treat you rudely. If you are Asian, but not Korean, you might have a chance at good service. Try to somehow make it obvious that you are not Korean. Good luck to you. Wow the quality at Kim's BBQ is unmatched! Especially for the first kbbq up the hill in PV I HIGHLY recommend you make reservations esp for dinner on the weekends as it fills up pretty quickly around 5 - 530ish. Not sure if theres a minimum requirement for reservations but we had a group of 7 and were able to get one. TLDR- if you're big on having very high quality meat, this is the place for you. If you're more of a good quality + big on filling up on salad/sides, you should find another kbbq to fill you up. For our table of 4 people, we got the combo prime with the prime beef belly, kimchi stew, soybean stew, steamed egg, ribeye and pork belly (thats already $246) and while the quality was extremely good, it is pretty pricey (I mean you're paying for quality). you'll have to pay a lot to be stuffed (in my opinion) I could eat a few more plates of meat after all this tbh All the food we had was really good, especially the ribeye - it straight up melted in our mouth and the pork belly was so good too! I'm not big on getting pork belly at kbbq but it was one of the better ones I've tried! Service is amazing! So glad I was able to find a legit korean restaurant in this area! Was able to reserve a table on a busy Friday night. The place was poppin' ! Highly recommend to call ahead to reserve a table as there were many walk-ins waiting to be seated. The meat quality didn't disappoint at all and the side dishes were all delicious. Our group ordered the Mix bbq combo which comes with salad and 3 bowls of rice. Any soup and steamed egg is offered at an extra price for a couple bucks more. Worth adding the steamed egg and soup which goes very well with the meal. So glad there is a Korean BBQ up in the peninsula. The food is good.. but for the price, the portion isn't as big as if you would get a regular Korean BBQ such as Parks BBQ, with tip we paid $195 party of 3, 2 adults and a ver y small child. (Had the combo 2 with 1 beer and soju). We would normally have left Parks BBQ with lots of left overs. This place has good quality meats but portion isn't as big. So not sure what a big family's bill would be... (which most of PV has biiig families). Their service was very good even thou they were short staffed. Their banchan was pretty good but not great. I based my banchan to the overall greatness of the restaurant. The variety of banchan lacks in this restaurant and their kimchi is good but not great, it lacks in dept of flavor and so does their KKAKDUGI (radish kimchi). I also did not get any Jap Chae like some people did... they also ran out of some side dishes when we came in at 4:30 pm. Yes, I understand they are brand new so they are still getting to know how much of what to make per day... Any Korea restaurants, you can ask for many refills on banchan, we asked once for refill and the owners remarks was "oh you like it..." Well yeah, I want more please... not good response when asking for more banchan.... He wasn't too keen that we asked for more banchan, he did but with resist. I know they are new, but they need to figure out the portion vs the price of this place. I will still drive to Korea town if I have to pay over $200. I'm glad more restaurants are coming to the peninsula. It's nice not to go off the hill to eat different types of food. My first impression of Kim's bbq was good, but the customer service was not excellent but they are relatively new. They were in their soft opening phase. The waitress completely messed up our order, and when we told her the items that came seemed different than what we ordered on the menu. She apologized and said we could order extra food to get items from what we actually ordered.. everyone makes mistakes but not the best customer service. The meat quality was good, and the sets ranged from $88, $132, and $155, which served 2-3 people. Each combination order is served with fresh salad, one steamed egg, and one selection of soybean stew or kimchi stew. The side dishes were good I just wish the service was better. read more

As much as I want to keep this place as a hidden gem, it's too good not to share. I usually go to Baekjeong for KBBQ but decided to try this place out with a few friends on a Thursday night. We got here around 6:30pm and were seated immediately. The servers were prompt and attentive and the meat quality was great. The servers even cook the meat for you so you just need to eat :) Overall, I'd say this place is comparable to Baekjeong. Value wise it ended up a bit over $30 after tax and tip. We got the combo mixed - meant for 2-3 people but with the unlimited sides it was enough for 4 people. Hopefully the service keeps up when this place gets busy (I'm sure it will). read more

Unfortunately my family and I were one of the victims of Rolling Hills Estates landslide who's home were affected.. While the families, volunteers, fire and police department were all helping us salvage our belonging, the owner of Kims Bbq happened to drive by and see us working. The owner rush to the restaurant to donate lunch boxes to feed us all. Words can't describe how thankful we are. It's one thing to donate out of recognition or benefits but to offer such a generosity out of good heartedness is overwhelming. My Family and I will be loyal customers for life. How can you not support such a kind hearted business owner? It was a pleasure meeting Mrs. Kim. The lunch box consisted of a bed of rice, teriyaki chicken and salad. The chicken thigh was moist, right amount of sweetness and a nice vinaigrette on the salad. Yummy! I can't wait to try their food freshly cooked at the restaurant. read more

I give it 2 stars because there are no alternative options. Gen BBQ is cheaper, with the same quality meat. Baekjeong is not much better quality but is cheaper. Gotta drive to LA Ktown or Buena Park for some decent KBBQ. Service is good, the restaurant is clean since it's new. Five stars, even though we have only visited once. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on Friday. The restaurant has been open just over one year, so everything is very new and very clean. My wife was in the mood for hot stone Bi Bim Bap; I ordered spicy kimchi stew. Both dishes were excellent. In particular, I thought that the red chili sauce for the Bi Bim Bap was better than most. It was thicker, less sweet, and it had a rich smoky flavor. The kimchi stew was not as spicy as I expected; perhaps they toned it down because I am a gringo. Nonetheless, it too was very good. The real stars of the show, though, were the banchan. They were hands down the best I've ever had at a Korean restaurant. They were accompanied by an interesting sweet macaroni salad with apples, that was like a makeshift Waldorf salad. It was odd at first, but it made a nice complement (contrast) to the sour and spicy banchan. The prices for lunch were very reasonable, especially when considering the quantity and quality of the side dishes. If I hadn't ordered a 22oz Kloud, we would have gotten out for less than $50. The owners themselves did most of the service, and they were very attentive and friendly. We will definitely return, next time for the two-person BBQ combo. One final note: As noted above, the restaurant opened in Rolling Hills (next to the Bristol Farms) just over one year ago. The owners decided to sign up as sponsors for the LPGA Dio Implant golf tournament. Hopefully next year some players and fans - Korean or not - will drive up the hill a few miles to check this place out after a day of hard walking and golf. read more

This place opened January of 2022 and was very good at the beginning. The owner was a very nice man, who would go around every table and make sure that the ship was run very tightly. He hasn't been there in a few months, and the service has understandably declined. They forgot my tea, and we had already eaten our banchan, and the meat had not arrived yet. And it wasn't like they were super busy. They were at 50% capacity on a Wednesday night! I hope the owner comes back and their service quality gets back to how it was early this year. read more

Extremely overpriced and they refrigerate their red wine. The ideal temperature for serving red wine is between 60-68° F - so room temp. I was confounded to have been served red wine chilled. I do not normally write bad reviews as it could hurt someone's livelihood, but for this restaurant I feel that I should as the owner had gone way over the line. I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment. The owner was unbelievably rude and unprofessional throughout our entire visit, which made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not only did he speak to us in a condescending and dismissive tone, but he also made several inappropriate comments that left us feeling offended and upset. In addition to the owner's terrible attitude, the food was also extremely disappointing. The portions were small and unappetizing, and the prices were completely unjustified given the low quality of the food. Plus, they charge extra for stews and salads whereas other Korean restaurants provide them free. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The owner's behavior was completely unacceptable, and it's clear that he has no respect for his customers. I really hope the community supports this business! It's the best spot I've tried that's come into this shopping plaza. Also awesome to have kbbq on the hill! There are different set meats you can get for small groups, along with some sides and appetizers you can add. Service is very friendly and they cook the meat for you, which is so helpful for things like the steak. Cooked to perfection! This would be a really fun spot for any families with kids in particular. Found this place through Yelp and was definitely surprised how this place is rated so high. Was excited to see a Korean bbq option closer to home and was left disappointed. Staff was inexperienced and slow. Came on a weeknight with no wait and had to ask for some items several times before receiving. For this price point, you would expect them to grill for you as they do at Baekjong and other higher quality kbbq spots but we were left to grill ourselves. They also charge separate for steamed egg and stew which is usually included at other kbbq spots for combo menus. Otherwise the meat quality is good but the service really killed our meal. Worth making the drive out to Gardena or Ktown for a quality kbbq dinner. Hoping they take this feedback and implement changes since they are fairly new.
