It's like they scooped used coffee grounds from the bottom of the kitchen sink and re brewed them, added copious amounts of cheap sugar on top and put a label on the cup. God. Fucking Awful. There's something about chained boba places that I just normally avoid unless it's like a well known place like gong cha, sharetea etc. I always see Kim's tea house in bellaire and I remember trying it a couple times way before I did yelp and it was nothing but unimpressive. Yesterday, I got the jasmine cream tea, almond cream tea and the strawberry smoothie. My cousins and I tried our drinks together and I'm slightly impressed that the boba tapioca was fresh and super soft. I did not adjust the sugar level because I'm not sure how sweet or unsweetened their regular sugar level was. Needless to say, I wish I told them a bit less sugar. The taste itself was good but the sugar was overpowering. I'm glad I got the chance to retry Kim's again. I need to be more open minded of places that I used to try and always give second chances. I've been yearning for popcorn chicken at Kim's TeaHouse. I've actually never purchased it before as I tasted it when my coworker got it one time. From that day onwards, I was like I had to go to Kim's again to get the popcorn chicken. And oh my goodness, the popcorn chicken was soooo good! It was hot and spicy and I can't stop eating it! The only con was that the wait for the popcorn chicken took some time, and I didn't hear them call my name, but maybe I missed it. I also had the coffee ice cream drink, and I love it as well. I have been here a few times before and ordered different teas. All have been very good. This evening I stopped by after picking up dinner next door. The lady that took my order was very pleasant and helpful as I decided on what to order. I finally went with the almond cream tea. After ordering I waited about 5-10 minutes when I noticed my drink was placed on the counter. Nobody called my name or notified me that it was ready for a couple of minutes after that, despite several employees walking by and noticing me standing there. Finally someone came and called my name. Other than that confusion, service was good. The interior of this place is really cute and cozy. It was cold inside this particular evening, so bring a sweater if you get cold easily and plan to dine in. There is a good mix of cozy seating/couches as well as tables and chairs. So this review is for Drive thru only because I went through the drive thru. Had a pleasant experience! The service was super fast and friendly and they made sure to give us a stamp card. Now onto the drink. Matcha cream tea- 4.5/5 This drink was sooo refreshing! Have to say it doesn't have a strong matcha taste, tasted more like jasmine tea but I didn't mind. The tapioca on the other hand was too soft and chewy for my liking. Also, I think it was pretty decently priced for the amount of drink I got. Was $4.71 with the tapioca, not too bad! If you want to try the food here, I would recommend getting the fries. The fries are very addicting and taste really good! I've never tasted a fry like these. The seasoning that is put on these fries has a slight cinnamon taste to it and it's excellent! The prices for Kim's Tea House are very reasonable and after you get 10 stamps on your punch card, you get a free drink. The inside of the tea house is very decorative and super cute! The squid balls are good too. The interior does look a bit worn/old though, if you care about ambiance. They have a Jenga set that me and my friends usually play when we come here. Love their drinks. I come here so often it feels like a second home. Every time I come I always order at least 2 cups or more for myself and drink one then save the other for later. My family is from out of town and when they come to visit this is where we go for drinks and they always buy some for the road when heading home. I remember this being my absolute favorite boba shop many many years ago when this OG place was the only one in the area. We've had our time apart but through quarantine bringing me back to the area, I've gotten the pleasure of eating here again. For drinks I have a couple favorites that I consistently choose. The regular cream tea, Thai tea, and green tea with cream are some of my favorite options. I always go the full sweet and less ice route and that seems to have yielded many successful 15 minute ubereats drives to me. Food wise, I love the combo pork sandwich with either some thick cut fries or popcorn chicken to share. Service can depend on how busy the place is, you might have to wait a bit if the place is crowded, but when it's not you can get your order rather quickly.
