Sooo, Long wait ! they get busy pretty fast. I will say i think they hate kids. When it was his family's turn to order the lady taking orders completely dismissed them and started working on other things. They were not fully seated so it was a bit confusing on why we had to wait for 15 minutes to order because they did not like kids. They never voice it either so just really passive aggressive and rude As soon as the family got fed up with waiting and left it looked like one of the waitresses told the lady who was taking the orders that the family left, and the lady taking the orders immediately went back to taking other people's orders. Food was delicious, if you are super against spice u it might be too much for you like me! But we got the onigiri with fish and chicken skewers and the tantanmen (not photo) The inside is very nice warm setting. The line that it gets when it builds up gives it a huge sore I would not immediately come back But the food was good enough that I would order it again
The ambiance is stylish and artsy. Staff were helpful and kind and they have a great selection of food. I feel they should fix the entrance/order line as it causes somewhat of a jam when it gets busy. Not pictured are the charred and spicy edamame which was soooo spicy & tastes great. The charred flavor made this edamame different from others I've tried. The chicken in the shout ramen was juicy and the broth was delicious. I added some spice to it and it amplified the flavor.
Amazing service and a welcoming staff. Cozy, relaxed ambiance that's great for date nights or family time. The food is consistently flavorful and delicious. I hate to leave such a good review since this is my favorite place, but they truly deserve it. I highly recommend!!! Side note: the photos don't do justice... I was hangry!
Bella, your warm and attentive service truly made us feel like royalty on Monday. Jen, we appreciated you taking the time to personally check on us and kindly let us know about the small delay with our meal. The new location was easy to find, with convenient parking and a peaceful, almost romantic atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed a quiet, relaxing lunch featuring delicious bowls of ramen and a tasty appetizer of chicken and shrimp tempura. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu! Highly recommended ~
Came here for a friend's bday dinner. Got here right before happy hour ended @ 7 PM. Cocktails are only $5 and appetizers are a few dollars off menu price. Portions were surprisingly very big. You have to order up front as well but they give you a number and will bring your order out to you when ready. Gyoza and kara-age tasted great. Their ramen was just ok for me. Thought it lacked a bit of flavor and not as creamy or thick as your traditional Japanese ramens. Make sure you read the menu carefully because some orders don't come with meat and you will have to pay extra.
Somehow they managed to miss the mark on every single dish. All salt, no flavor. Best part of the meal were the karaage sauces...I wish I were kidding. The only redeeming parts were the good service (gave me complimentary edamame for it being my first time) and that the ambiance was nice. Otherwise avoid avoid if you're looking for good Japanese food
Update: Business contacted me and gave me a partial refund on my meal. To me getting back was a main point and they handled it right. I am giving a star for follow up and one more to support local business. I am giving one extra star for service, both girls were pleasant and nice. However, I am taking one star for food quality and one for business not following up. Yakisoba noodles looked darker and more greasy, unfortunately upon arriving to hotel I felt sick. I made a comment regarding the experience on Wednesday last week and did not hear anything back. I am not sure was it oil, sauce or cabbage, but it definitely was not up to par. Kids meal was ok, simple and did not come with any drink or side. Nothing special, or nothing to complain about. Regarding ambience, it was very dark inside and super sticky floors made me think about if they ever mop floors with any chemicals or hot water.
My friend and I saw this online that said to be a good place to eat and wanted to give it a try. When we arrived, the parking is on the side of the building and to be honest does look a little rough. My friend was actually nervous as the outside didnt look very nice but if you look at the front of the building it looks better. Once you actually enter the building the layout and style looks cool. Loved the ambiance here and was very chill and relaxed. The people there were really nice and gave us some suggestions to try. You would order your food at the front, they give you a number, then you go sit down at a table and wait. One thing I absolutely appreciated about the staff was that my friend has a glutten allergy and they stopped at our table to double check and confirm her order so she wouldn't get sick. I don't often see that so was really cool of them to do. They first brought out the onigiri and the Gyoza. I really loved the Gyoza with it having the crispy bits on the side. The pork was cooked well on the inside of it too. The Onigiri i loved how cute they looked. I had tuna in mine which was alright but I think would try something else in the middle next time (they offer a vegan option to this which might be good). My drink was their Butterfly Pea lemonade, which not only looked pretty but tasted delicious as well. For my main dish I ordered Katsudon and I would absolutely order it again! The pork was cooked perfectly and loved the crunch on the crust. They cooked it within an egg which was also very good and put on top of rice. My friend ordered a ramen with some shrimp in it. It had so much stuff in it and looked great and she said she really enjoyed it. Overall I would absolutely come back here and recommend for anyone to try.
I can't speak on anything else other than the ramen and it MF slaps! I find it good af and it has amazing flavor it's always consistent when I go hence why I go so much! I remember when it was our first time they gave us some Gyoza and slapped as well. Go to order is always ramen and charred edemame with spicy on the side. Never fails and it always is good! Good service too the staff is super sweet and quick as well! It's decently priced but I'm down to pay if it's good and this is good! I haven't tried anything else on the menu but this order is SOLID. There is also plenty of space to sit, it's a chill ambiance. Parking is limited but street parking is available too. All in all 10/10 from me
Great ambiance, terrible food. I have mixed feelings about Kimura. On one hand, the building itself is absolutely stunning--old modern, rustic warehouse style, and well-designed. It's one of those places you walk into and immediately feel like you're in a trendy hotspot. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The food was a huge disappointment. I came in with zero expectations, and the meal was nothing short of awful. The gyoza dishes we ordered were soggy, ramen over-seasoned, and very difficult to eat. The textures were off, and nothing felt fresh or flavorful. The service was excellent, and we really appreciated that. It was the highlight of our experience at Kumura and made our time there worthwhile.
And the delicious food and vibe award goes to... This place is a must for you avid ramen connoisseurs. I couldn't pass on the Katsu and it didn't disappoint. My wife had the ramen and it was so good! They even brought us some complimentary gyoza. s for the staff and vibe, it's very cool, edgy and perfect. The music made me feel like I found my spot. The smiths, Cocteau twins... just go and experience the deliciousness for yourself. *chefs kiss*
I was pulled in by the decently designed website hoping the restaurant would be pretty good, but I was sadly disappointed and fooled myself. For starters if I wanted to have basic curry that came from the Golden Curry box mixes, I would have saved $17 and made it at home. But when out and about I like to try new places and support the community when I can. Another thing I find odd is tipping when you walk in to order at a counter, I see no need for tips. I suggest that the menu consists of some food items you are confident in creating and slimming down the items that you try to make. Cheers!

My first time dining here and I wasn't that impressed with the service or the food. I walked in and no one was standing at the front door to greet me, and I had to walk up to someone to ask how do I go about ordering food. I wasn't impressed with the customer service especially it being my first time. The. I order the food and was looking forward to a nice bowl of ramen but was disappointed by my first taste, the broth was too salty and the meat was ok nothing to rave about. read more

Me and my boyfriends favorite ramen spot! Mostly everything is fresh, made from scratch and amazing quality. Prices are fair, great portions and drinks are strong and flavorful. It's self service and wait times are not long. I love the Shoyu chicken ramen and the ambience is cozy. There's only like 5 parking spaces so I recommend going early if you don't want to walk far. read more

I recently visited Kimura Ramen bar in the later hours of the evening. They are currently staying open till 1:00 am. to cater to the late night crowd. I got to try their delicious Gyoza & Tonkotsu Ramen. I appreciate the fact that regardless of the hour, everything was served piping hot & fresh. I must warn you though, parking is very limited and you'll definitely have to find some free parking downtown or park in a convenient pay lot. Another thing is Kimura is very small. With social distancing measures in place, the entire place would looked pretty packed with even just ten customers inside. There are some very good things going on at Kimura, you'll just have to be patient & understanding with their limitations on parking & dine-in. read more

Downtown SA is a COVID induced ghost town. Easy ordering and awesome delivery by John W thru Postmates. He showed up on a tricked out low-rider bicycle and was super nice! That's where the love affair ends. Badly. I love ramen. I try new ramen joints in EVERY city I visit. Hell, I plan trips around ramen. I. Love. Ramen. This is not good ramen. Looks good, smells good. Tastes really, really NOT good. Super salty. Like drowning in the Gulf of Mexico (dirty Galveston not clear blue Destin). Chashu: tough and over done. And salty. Mushrooms: really salty (brined?). Broth: salty. Noodles: chewy. Probably salty (hard to differentiate). Couldn't finish it. Strapped on my mask and walked to McD's for some f'n nuggets. Bummer. Seriously. read more

Food was so delish! Had the tonkosu with pork belly and shishto margarita! The staff asked if we were first timers and we said yes. They came during our meal and brought us some complimentary sweet cucumbers (cant remember the name, sorry) and it was was so delish. The ambiance was quiant and nice. I would definitely recommend this place and I'm so coming back to try more dishes. read more

Love this place! I've been here 3 times and will keep coming. The pork belly ramen is so good! My gf loves that they have a chicken broth option. Great quality ramen! Can't wait to try more options, but I never do because I keep coming back for the ramen. I highly recommend Kimura! read more

I loved in SF for 8 yrs, moved here and one of my favorite things to get in sf was ramen and boba(no boba here but they have an awesome bar!). First time coming here, because my nephew wanted to try Ramen, I chose this restaurant please bc of how authentic it looks (& tastes so delicious). It was amazing! The staff were so friendly, the owner gave my nephew and I samples to try before picking which broth he wanted. We're going to keep coming here! It was an excellent experience and the food was so delicious. There's seating outside but we sat inside because my nephew liked the art. If you're looking for some tasty ramen, pls come here! read more

This place is beautiful! I didn't know it was a local business too, which made the experience even better. Upon entering, you are able to see a bar area, open kitchen, and where you order. The atmosphere was probably my favorite about this restaurant. You order your food first then you sit anywhere you'd like. Definitely recommend the TanTanMen Ramen (impeccable quality and flavor with a kick!) as well as the Hot Sake!! I also ordered the New Pink Package (I think that's what it's called haha) If you're looking for a Ramen place with a relaxing ambiance and where the employees are really down to earth, this is the place! read more
The food was decent, not the best Ramen I've ever had but the location is great and the size of the place is quiet and cozy. The reason for the high rating is that the service was superb! My family had never had Ramen before and they had so many questions and the staff was so happy to help. The one major drawback is that the ventilation in the open kitchen is poor so we left the restaurant smelling of ramen which I wouldn't complain about normally but the smoke bothered my eyes so bad I had to buy eye drops. read more

So it has been sometime since visiting Kimura. The last time I sat in their establishment as a patron was when they were downtown. I enjoyed the location and energy there, but I had begun to lose a little faith in my old faithful Ramen nook. The quality had started to take a turn for the worse. I was sad to see it go. Then they have resurfaced and resurrected i on the edge of downtown on Flores street. What can I say, they were back. I enjoyed my tonkotsu ramen the sweetest shiitake mushrooms and super tender pork belly. So glad to have you back! If you're looking for a place to indulge in some savory ramen, listen to some great tunes and have a cocktail, then add this to your list of musts!! read more

This place came highly recommended and the food was yummy! The dumplings had this crunch on top of it that was incredible, and the chicken karage (idk how to spell it) came with 3 sauces each had a very different flavor and that was also yummy. The pork belly in the ramen was really good, but the mushrooms were a little too sweet and you have to ask for the special egg so it's the soy sauce soaked egg. The ambiance was nice, it was quiet. Wanted something warm and delicious on this cold rainy day and this place hit the spot! It's super swanky and the food is amazing! It was pretty busy at 2 pm on a Saturday and we ended up briefly waiting at their Dash Bar upstairs, which was super cute as well! Our service was friendly and impeccable! We'll definitely be back to try their 5 Points plates...it's all co-located and recently opened by the renowned Gwendolyn Group! read more

I had 3 ramen: tonkotsu, miso, and tantanmen. And they are all delicious because of tasty toppings, yummy noodles, and flavorful broth. One of our soup was very salty, but the restaurant was very kind and replaced the dish for us. However, the chashu pork is chunky and unauthentic. Chashu pork needs to be flat and round which is something the restaurant can improve on. read more

After seeing the great reviews, both on and off Yelp, I was excited to give this place a try. I don't give this review lightly but I was sorely disappointed... The location is downtown, lots of homeless, parking is very limited with a walk regardless of where. The service, though the restaurant was small, was lacking in attentiveness and availability. The food, I had ordered the grilled bok choy, and tonkotsu ramen, with green tea. The bok choy came out cold and oily. The ramen was lacking in flavor, the pork belly had a dryness about it and the ramen wasn't really what I was expecting when it came to texture or chewiness. The best thing of the menu was the green tea because it came out hot, even if the teacup was literally the size of a shot glass... read more

Took my kid to try ramen for the first time. We chose a random place on Yelp and wow we were pleasantly surprised. The cook was cookin. The amount of flavor and creativity was pretty amazing. We both enjoyed our ramen, bok choy, and salmon sashimi. 10/10 read more

Texan Japanese food My husband and I popped into this restaurant to share some gyoza and a bowl of tonkotsu ramen for a light dinner. The execution was good - the gyoza and noodles were cooked perfectly and had the right ingredients, but it all tasted quite different to the food that we had eaten in Japan. We thought that the gyoza was a little too oily and were surprised to only find 4 in a serving. Full marks for effort and service though! read more

Worst ramen ever, I ordered the $16 signature ramen, it's tasteless, I guess they forgot to put seasoning on the soup, it has no flavor at all, taste no different then water. Worst ramen!!! Waited 35 minutes to seat, and it took more then half an hour to get our ramen ready, it has total less then 15 customer, slowest service, worst taste ramen, will never come back. Don't waste time on this "ramen" place!!! read more

The first ramen spot in San Antonio, they hAmazing and friendly service . It's fun to see the open kitchen and watch the chefs cook as well. The dumplings are house made and we're very good . They have great selection of ramen which was very good as well . I enjoyed my meal here a lot . read more

Found this place randomly and will have to say I was suprised wonderul food and the staff I so kind they style of the place if modern but sticks to simplicity of how a ramen shop should be . The ambiance is totally my style I will definitely be coming back . The ramen was great the noddle were cooked perfect the broth very flavorful and the pork belly cook perfectly.
