Two of us ordered the scallops with Risotto and one the steak. Dinner: It wasn't terrible but not great. The steak was perfectly cooked but the flavor of the gravy was nothing special and tasted like they used canned tomato soup in it. The scallops themselves were good but nothing special. The Risotto was terrible. I wanted to show the person who prepared it how to make good Risotto. They used spinach in it but did nothing to add flavor to so that it tasted separate like the spinach was an after thought. We were going to get dessert but decided against it. read more

Very great service and food. I took a star off just because we were there for 3 hours and it was pretty slow getting our food out when we would order. We got the steak special which was soooo good! We got the Mediterranean appetizer which was very good as well, the only thing I would change is take off the hard oval bread crisps and have all of it the pita bread. The pita bread was so good. We ordered wine which was also good. The bread that came out before the food was very good too. We had the creme brûlée and chocolate soufflé for dessert, so good! read more

Best seafood fusion soup in town! When my family came up for our mother's funeral I took them all out for the seafood fusion soup. The seafood fusion soup was my moms favorite. The staff at Kincaid Grill treated us great and were able to accommodate our large group with a room in the back that you had to go through the kitchen to get to. Best in class service. It is pretty equivalent to Four Seasons Hotel or St Regis Hotel level. The scallops and steak in the menu are beyond amazing. Menu prices are expensive but it is worth every single penny. Staff wears masks, tables are super clean, dishes come in perfect medium plate size (not too big or not tapas style). Parking is super easy. Dress code classy. I highly recommend the bbq oysters and their special arugula mix winter salad. We will definitely come back. read more

01/30/2020 6:00 PM reservation. Our waiter, Jersey, was amazing. The food was delicious with amazing presentation. I had a glass of sprite and a glass of water with a lemon in it. The bus boy accidentally poured water into my sprite glass not once but twice. After the second time I decided to switch to a coke to prevent the same mistake from reoccurring. The bus boy brought a coke with no ice! I requested to speak to the manager on duty. After telling the manager, Kim, what had occurred, she dismissed it with a weak excuse for the actions of the bus boy. No apology by the manager. She did not ask how she could make it right. She just asked "Do you want a coke with ice then?" Ummm, isn't that how a soft drink in a glass is usually served? She did ask if I wanted a straw though. We really enjoy dining here but at this price point a simple issue was handled poorly. read more

For our last night in Alaska we decided on Kincaid Grill. The humble strip mall location belies the treasure within. Through the portal a quiet elegance awaits. Tasteful art on the walls, calming color scheme, tablecloths, attentive waitstaff. We began with a poached pear salad. Fresh greens, candied pecans, gorgonzola, wine poached pears, in a honey tabasco dressing was a perfect rendition of this classic combo. It stood up to our medium bodied pinot noir, as did the entrees. The first entree was a salmon special. The salmon was blackened, yet at the same time the filet was light and moist. Over it was a pickled red pepper jam that allowed tart, hot, and sweet notes to color the succulent fish. Under that was kale, and that was over a base of purple cauliflower puree. The dish was memorable and masterful. Our second entree was duck. It had smoked breast that was extremely tender. It also had a confit leg that had crisp overlying skin. The duck was over a mound of blended sweet potatoes, and that sat over a cherry gastrique with islands of balsamic. Wow. Desert was a chocolate bourbon souffle with a side of creme anglaise, and a sliced strawberry. Far and away the best meal that we had in our eleven day stay in Alaska. read more

Some of the best food and service in town-if not the best. I've been here twice, once for my birthday and second for a work dinner. Both times were truly great experiences and just solidify their stake in the restaurant community. The most recent time I was there our entire party ordered the seafood fusion soup to begin the meal and oh my word it was delicious-many of us even commented how we wanted to lick the bowls it was that good. I then had the filet mignon, I ordered it medium rare and it was a little underdone-I didn't mind too much because I was able to take it home and reheat it to perfection. Service was impeccable, neither my wine or water glass were empty during the meal. The kitchen was also very accommodating to a vegetarian we had in the party-crafting a special meal off the menu for him and our server gave a detailed breakdown of everything on his plate. Our server was also very knowledgeable of the wine list, I asked for a wine that would pair well with my meal and she did not disappoint! I will say that one downside of this place is the atmosphere, it's very small and very quiet. We had a party 8 people and we felt a little too rowdy for the space even though we were on our best behavior. read more

This is hands down the best restaurant in Anchorage. 5 star all the way. You know the saying dont judge a book by its cover well this is a great example. from the outside it looks like some dive bar. Once you enter, its like stepping through a time warp that transports you to a culinary wonderland. Jessica my server was on point with all her recs. The star of the evening was the pork chop. It was perfectly cooked and the presentation was almost as great s the taste. If I had any suggestions to the owners, it would be please have a dedicated place out of site of customers for your staff to fold napkins, This would eliminate the temptation from some of the other staff to walk over and chat about how many shifts they have to work and what they would rather be doing or making plans for the weekend. I gathered all that information in about a half hour while I was enjoying my meal. If the food wasn't as amazing as it was I would have been upset about how unprofessional some of the staff were. Been here a few times. The interior is nicely decorated with a light tan color and art on the walls. The windows open to the east, to the mountains. I like the change from the last time I've been here, though some of the art work looks like it was bought from Fred Meyers or Burlingtons. Service was prompt and friendly. Was going to be sat by the kitchen staff area and was moved to a quieter location when I requested a different table. Thank you!!! We split the gorgonzola-poached pear salad with tobasco dressing that came with mixed greens, and glazed pecans. I ordered the special: Grilled rib eye with mushroom glaze, truffle mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus. Sobon Zin with dinner. My friend started with the sockeye red beer and Clois du Bois Cab with his dinner. He ordered the filet mignon topped with a bearnaise sauce, mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus. The staff dropped off bread and butter, of which the bread is soft ,slightly nutty, and lovely. I ordered my steak rare and got med rare, my friend ordered his med rare and got med. Well, the steak was a little tough on my end as it was a rib eye but all the sides made up for it. The mushroom glaze came with black morel and another exotic mushroom that I forgot the name of, along with garlic and onion. Mashed potatoes-done to perfection. Grilled asparagus-heaven. All in all a great experience. The menu isn't extensive but fills the bill. read more

The Kincaid Grill is an excellent representation of a quality-driven locally sourced fresh seafood restaurant in Anchorage. Located surprisingly in a little strip mall on the offskirts of town, on step inside and you feel as though you have been transported into fine dining at its best. The reason I'm giving this restaurant five stars despite not really loving my dinner choices is because the staff and service were top-notch, and the ingredients and dishes were creative and of high standard. The flavors were not exactly to my preference, but given that I am traveling in Alaska, I am being a bit more adventurous and trying things I wouldn't normally order. To start I ordered the Alaskan oysters with Tabasco Granita the oysters were probably the creamiest most buttery I have ever eaten, and although I prefer the lighter more tangy ones, it was definitely nice to try what is available from the region. I wasn't a fan of the Tabasco Granita, as it was too sweet and only emphasized the creaminess of the already decadent oyster- with lots of lemon it was fine and despite my complaints I dusted the entire plate. Next I ordered both the house prawn gumbo and the mixed seafood coconut Tom Kai soup. Both were absolutely delicious and completely gorgeous in their representation and flavor profiles. Finally ordered the special which was a seared herb/bacon crusted halibut. To be quite honest I wasn't a fan of the herb bacon mustard seed mix that was used to crust the fish, because the mustard overpowered the fish which was slightly overdone. Then the plum relish on top softened the crust to a mush and left sort of a mess of flavors on top of the fish. Again this may have been perfectly fine for others, and I probably should have stuck to the menu halibut but I just think I wasn't a big fan of the flavors and ordered this particular dish just to try something new. I was very impressed with the wine selection, although slightly disappointed not to find any wine from Alaska (and this could just be because it doesn't exist?) I really appreciate the iPad representation of the wine list which allows diners to scan and search through their extensive wine list, make selections, and add glasses from the table. I especially loved the descriptions of each wine and would encourage them to add food pairing recommendations to those descriptions. Overall the food was not to my taste preference but I cannot complain about the quality or service. I would definitely go back to the Kincaid grill and try other dishes ! read more

We enjoyed our dinner at this cute restaurant. We had a choice of 7 grain or potato rosemary bread to start, so we had one of each and both were good. My husband had the salmon, which he loved. I had the halibut with lemon risotto, and both were very tasty (and filling). The servers were very attentive, refilling our water glasses often and letting us know when our dishes would be coming out. Tables in the back were nicely spaced out so we had plenty of room and it was nice and quiet, which we liked. read more

Both a delight for the taste buds, especially for Anchorage. Main course was Filet Mignon.. Amazing. We discussed whether it was the best in Anchorage. Possibly. The dessert made it a 5! Cheesecake. Even splitting we were stuffed. Michael kept comparing the meal to good sex... We are definitely coming back... Why pay this much ($83 including 2 glasses of wine) for mediocre? Cons: loud. I don't usually give out 5 star reviews but this place really deserves it. I came across this place while on vacation in Anchorage. Even though I was embarrassed that I was dressed down (came back from hiking), the staff was super nice and made me feel comfortable. The bread with olives was very fluffy and delicious. The raw oysters were fresh and delicious with the tabasco granita sauce. The scallop dish came with squash noodles and Brussels sprouts. I don't usually like Brussels sprouts but these ones were amazing- they grilled them to a crisp so that they were crunchy. The scallops were very good and seared just right. For dessert we ordered a sorbet of a fruit similar to a lychee that is from Bali. Overall my experience here was amazing. The restaurant was clean, the wait staff provided excellent service, the food was delicious and fresh, and I have no complaints at all! read more

My work picked here for a nice dinner. Because of what happened last time I've never been here. The food was delicious though! It was a cute little spot, the lady helping us was so nice, and everything was absolutely perfect food wise. The deserts all sounded so good, they were sold out of quite a few of them so it's a good thing we were too full. We did get some coffee, they had so many options and the flavors were so distinct. Usually people say each coffee is different and insists on different notes and you can't tell but here you can actually tell the difference between each of them, it's not just a slight difference it's so prominent and you can taste every flavor. I'm not sure how they do it but I need to learn so I can do that at home! We definitely plan on returning. Hopefully they won't lose our reservation when we do. read more

LOVED IT! The only thing I would change is the location... I need them to relocate to DC so I can eat here once a week. This restaurant showcases food and flavors the way it should be showcased. You can taste the thought that went behind making the menu. We ordered a special salad, jambalaya, another special soup of the day, fried chicken, the lamb rack special, butternut squash bread pudding and the creme brûlée. We loved the soup, complimentary bread, fried chicken (including the delicious kale and mashed potatoes), and the lamb (but not the sides). We weren't too crazy about the dessert. Service was amazing. And the cost of dinner was rather reasonable for such a sophisticated establishment. The restaurant was beautiful and clean. read more

Wow. Where do I start. I love trying new food around town. I eat somewhere new every 6 months and Kincaid Grill had been on my radar for quite a while. But their hours are spotty and inconvenient. Regardless, my friend and I go there one night. We were greeted by a tween-looking gal who I'm certain, based on looks, loved anime, cats, and dungeons and dragons. I digress. We were seated and the dining staff were pretty exceptional. Fresh bread and water were promptly served. Our waiter was timely and polite. The place was clean and quiet. However, the room was rather cold. Like a meat locker. I noticed there were three plug-in heaters around the room. There could have been five but my feet were still freezing. Seems like they didn't pay their heating bill. Anyway, I ordered the fried chicken and my friend ordered the New York steak menu entree (not the special that was advertised - he made it clear to the waiter). Our food gets there and looks quite appetizing. My friend gets the wrong plate - the special that he specified to the waiter that he didn't want. He ate it anyway, which if I had known while we were there, I would've said something. When you're paying that much for food, they need to get it right. Now onto my dish.... the crust on the chicken was exceptional. What wasn't exceptional was the rubbery, goose flesh skin left under on the chicken that didn't fry very well. It was like eating..... chicken skin that wasn't cooked very well. I about threw up. And sadly instead of complaining, I pulled all the skin off and just ate a chicken breast. Couldn't get the taste of rubbery chicken skin out of my mouth. In hindsight, I wish I said something to the aloof waiter and made the kitchen aware of their disgusting rubber skin fried chicken. No one should have to eat that again. The sides were good but who goes to the Steakhouse for the free salad? I gave two stars because 1: the overpriced food missed the mark. 2: A completely wrong dish was served after specified twice. And 3: and most damning, the repulsive rubber chicken. It was all like a facade - the night started out great and slowly declined when we realized the waiter was dumb and the food was unpalatable. And I was out a hundred bucks. So I have a hundred reasons to hate this place. I wouldn't say, "don't go here", but also wouldn't say, "go here." But if you do go, COMPLAIN if something goes awry. We have been coming here with friends and family for many years and again last night the food and service was faultless. With each visit there is always something new to WOW you. Drew is so innovative and always never ceases to amaze us. I can promise you that you can pick anything on the menu and be very pleased to see how beautifully presented and spectacularly tasty everything is. The waitress was AWESOME she was so professional as was all of the wait staff. We had the fresh king salmon and it was cooked to perfection as were the mussels for an appetizer. The beet salad was to die for as was the Gumbo and Crème Brulee. I will never get tired of coming to this establishment. It really is the finest that Anchorage has to offer. read more

I was so happy to find a near perfect restaurant in Anchorage. Our trip last year was quite disappointing in the "food" department. Kincaid works hard to prepare interesting ingredients that result in fine cuisine. Portions are generous and pricing is on the high side, the result was satisfying. I had the halibut special; on a bed of polenta with smoked corn and tomato mixture. Topped with a stalk of rhubarb. Husband had two appetizers; lamb chops and oysters. Both generous and filling. Our shared salad was missing the cheese. When mentioned in passing to the waiter it was immediately removed from our bill. We did not expect that; shows class. Dessert did not disappoint either:chocolate pot de creme. Great meal, great waitstaff too. read more
