I would give this place 4.5 for seafood and salad. My husband got a burger and hated it, but liked the handcut fries with skin on them. He was also happy they had hot tea with a selection of choices- a lot alcohol centered places don't have that offering. My crab legs and kale salad were both excellent. Service was spot on. And the restaurant itself is SO beautifully Alaskan, with a nice patio and a gorgeous view of the Turnagin Arm. That alone warrants a visit just for apps and a drink. Definitely recommend. And the kale salad is EXCELLENT!

Somehow found this place the way back from Whittier! Food is pretty nice. Not sure why yelp says it's an Indian place haha.

This spot was amazing and the perfect pop in on our drive home from Seward. Great menu with lots of options (not just fish) plus an amazing staff. I cannot say enough great things about this and genuinely hope it becomes a long term fixture. We ordered a bowl, two fish and chips and a halibut sandwich. Everything was fresh caught and cooked to perfection. Small ish spot with casual dining and a patio overlooking the turnagain arm brings it all together. Can't wait to eat here many times in the future after ski hike and hike days for a heathy meal

Good did food and great service! They had a large table able to sit about 12 people. They have small gift shop with Alaska and restaurant merchandise including local artists

Cozy spot with nice staff and tvs to catch any games going on. We tried the halibut and chips which were thick and flaky, held together with non-greasy batter that was light with the right crispness to it. Sauce was killer and they do have vinegar on the table if you like. Fries were a little thicker than I personally prefer but were cooked to my liking. We also had the taco special which was balanced and moist with the crunch and sweetness of the slaw and a great serving size as well. The chowder was also a win as it wasn't too thick and was seasoned well. Beers to top it off and you got a great place to stop in when driving through turnagain.

I found out about this place from a review by the Anchorage Daily News yesterday. Turnagains Fish House is a new restaurant that recently opened in Indian along the Seward Highway a couple of doors down from Birch & Alder and further down the road past Indian Valley Meats as you're going towards Girdwood. The dining area is rustic style with a large patio that offers a great view of the water across the highway as well as the surrounding mountains. The dining area was packed with tourists from the lower 48 and other countries. The employees were friendly but were short-handed for the amount of customers that came in. One of the servers was kind enough to notify us that there may be a wait because of the large party that arrived ahead of us. We understood and were in no hurry after enjoying the drive from Anchorage. We chose a table by the window as the patio was filled with capacity and had no open tables. The menu had a good variety of seafood dishes as well as a beer/wine menu on the other side. I decided to try the Bore Tide Boat Bowl with halibut (sundried tomato pesto brown rice with garbanzo beans, charred kale, pickled onions. diced tomatoes, cucumbers, and sliced avocados). My friend decided to go with the House Salad (kale, mixed greens, carrots, croutons made in-house, and pepitas with balsamic dressing) and a bowl of Seafood Chowder. It took a half hour before our orders came, understandable given that there were only two servers on the floor. I have to give them credit for working hard to make sure everyone received their orders and no one was overlooked. The Bore Tide Bowl was outstanding in every way in terms of flavor and presentation. The charred kale provided a nice crunch to go with the sundried pesto brown rice and the sliced avocados. The halibut was very moist and tender, seasoned lightly and was complemented well with the pickled onions and the garbanzo beans. My friend enjoyed the Seafood Chowder which came with a thick slice of Focaccia Bread as well as the House salad. The most popular item is of course the Halibut and Chips which most of the other diners had ordered. I will definitely try that on my next visit. Aside from the aforementioned Halibut and Chips, some standout items on the menu include the Salmon Hushpuppies (salmon fried in cornmeal batter and served with tartar sauce), the Fisherman's Boat Bowl (chimichurri brown rice with pinto and black beans, edamame, sweet potatoes, and cabbage), and the Salmon Panko (fried in panko with a sweet teriyaki aioli). Quinoa rice can be substituted for brown rice for $2 when ordering a Boat Bowl along with a choice of Miso Cod, Salmon, Halibut, Steak, or Tofu for an additional charge. Hopefully, they will have more staff available soon to take care of the lunch rush and shorten the wait times. Despite being short-handed, the food was well worth the wait. Once they get more staff, this will be one of the best places to eat along the highway to Girdwood.

Garlic seafood noodle - very greasy and seems to be a lot of soy sauce?! Reminding me of pseudo Chinese takeout joints Not from Chinatown's metropolitan areas..but from the suburbs. Positive: seafood was good and garlicky. King Crab bag was even saltier with the lemon pepper flavoring...and again way too greasy --- too much oil left over from the bowl after poured. For $80 (per lb...when asked my server for market price and advised was the best price) got Almost 3 full crab legs!!! Waaaaaaay Expensive for what one gets! As a foodie, I've dined from low to high end places...never had i experienced high levels of sodium and greasiness from a restaurant of this caliber.

We did get the dip bread appetizer about 15 minutes after ordering which helped. Then we waited another full hour after finishing it before our food arrived. The food was inconsistent. The chow fun noodles were undercooked. More like al dente pasta which does not work for a Chinese dish. The burgers came with fries that were cold and hard. They did fix that quickly and brought fresh fries which were much better. The wagyu burger was the biggest disappointment. The meat tasted very gamey. That is not what you expect from wagyu which should be rich and buttery. I ended up trying to cover the taste with toppings just to eat it. Not enjoyable. Our child did enjoy her grass fed beef burger and had no complaints. The atmosphere is great. Live music adds a nice touch. We also liked the shop next door and the outdoor wood fire. We like this place and wanted it to be a great experience. The food and timing just missed the mark this time. Hoping they improve because the setting is really nice.

I'm glad that they had beer flights because I was unable to decide what kind I wanted. With some assistance from the bartender I chose 4 beers and every single one of them was wonderful. I would absolutely go back if I'm ever in Anchorage again. It does get a little bit loud and it gets very crowded so be prepared to either wait, or sit at the bar. It is open seating, you check in at the host stand and they'll give you a menu and you just find a place to sit. All in all it was a wonderful time and the food was great. The servers seemed a little new, but the service was good and friendly. They carry Frontier brand sodas which we found to be excellent for their flavor. We got root beer and ripe raspberry soda. I ordered the Chili AK Salmon Bowl which our server confirmed is wild salmon. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries. Both meals were really good. I especially liked the sauce on the salmon bowl so much so that I asked for a little more only to be charged for the extra sauce. I also noticed they include a service charge on the bill (note that this was not gratuity). They told us it was to help them get seasonal labor and to cover overhead. Maybe this is an Alaska thing, but with menu prices as high as these, why would you need to add a service charge? Pricing and nickel & diming aside, I would recommend this place.
