Awesome selection of vegan and vegetarian baos! My favorite was the Baja Avocado bao on the special menu. I also got the veganville bao which was also great. Highly recommend the fire tots as well! They're pretty much what you expect, but it's nice to have extra carbs. If you're feeling hungry, I would recommend 3+ baos. King Bao is perfect for the quick, filling bite to eat. When my bf and I are short on time we go to King Bao for something quick and easy. Parking is along Mills or behind the restaurant. Be careful not to park in anther's vendor's lot. There are combos available (which I highly recommend). Make sure in addition to the menu board you check out the chalk board to the left for special bao buns. My favorite bao buns are the fire-cracker shrimp, the cuban, and the glen rhee. My bf loves the hogzilla and the KFC (korean fried chicken). We usually get the there bao combo with a drink. For those that have saved room, there are two dessert baos and also a few different versions of classic tater tots. The baos are light enough you can order 2 or 3 and they are all very fresh. Everyone is always more than satisfied with this place. It's a simple concept really, but they execute it to perfection here; steamed bao buns with various delicious toppings/fillings. My go to are the kickin chicken (fried chicken) and the Hogzilla (braised pork belly) and the flavors are just on point with every bite. The fresh toppings like pickled carrots and daikon and other sauces really elevate the bao buns. They have sides of tater tots and they are always freshly fried to the perfect crisps. I have had King Bao on my list of places to try for quite some time. So I finally made it over there, and talk about packing some flavor in those little buns! Yes King Bao, yes!! They have a pretty good variety to choose from, including some options for my vegan friends. They also have tater tots, which are made to order and fried to a nice crisp. And they offer a few different ways to try them too. They have a couple or combo options: 2 Bao & Drink for $7, and 3 Bao & Drink for $9. It ends up being worth it if you want a drink. Note that there is an up charge of 75 cents for any seafood Bao. I got the 3 Bao combo, and tried two of the specials: hot chicken and chicken katsu curry, along with the oh my grouper. They were all quite tasty, giving me their own version of a party in my mouth! The hot chicken was definitely my fave. King Bao is officially on my list. Here's another review where I'm putting my safety at risk - the last time that happened was, years ago, when I gave 4Rivers (also) only 3 stars. If EVERYONE loves King Bao (well, everyone except Autumn), won't someone physically hurt me after reading this, or make me the pariah-du-jour at the next Yelp event? I was going to get pho after my haircut, but since my car was parked right outside King Bao, I took it as a sign. With a line there, I didn't want to spend too much time looking at the menu. So I just ordered the kickin chickn and the inner harbor. Cashier asked me if I wanted to "make it a combo", explaining only that I'd get a drink, no talk of price. Since I don't really do sodas, I said no. Only while waiting did I realize she should have INSISTED I do the combo, since it gets me a free drink and saves me a few pennies. When I picked up my food, I explained why I thought she should have given me better info. It's not a big deal by any means, but every cashier, no matter how new, should be aware enough to have pointed that out. She and her manager apologized. On to the food. These are two very small-sized sandwiches - at, say Arby's, I'd be able to get a wrap, or that delicious lamb gyro for $3, and that would be 3x the amount of food. Is that an unfair comparison? Well to me it is totally fair: how much is it, and how does it taste? The chicken kicked things off, and it... didn't "kick", not for something suggested to be spicy. The crab cake bao, at $3.75, was much better. Sure the piece is smaller than the chicken, but, hey, this is crab cake, folks. The more important epiphany as I was munching my lunch: I wonder how much of the hullabaloo is about one key ingredient - mayo! Spice it with this or twist it with that, make variations of it, and put it on some fried foods. Just might work! Now that I'm schooled, next time I'd get a Combo of two inner harbors, maybe three; and for all the Tarantino fans, I'll slurp down a Coke - the way Jules did before he quoted Ezekiel and shot that poor boy. read more

King Bao has become one of my favorite place to go when I am in Orlando. If you are unfamiliar with baos, it is a Chinese steamed bun, that is slightly sweet in flavor, but is the perfect vessel to add food onto. My group and I got the kickin chicken & the hogzilla baos. Both were aboslutley delicious! Both had the perfect amount of sauce, along with a heapingly big portion of meat in each bao with a slight hint of acidity to balance everything out. No complaints about the food at all! The baos were also a pretty decent size. I was starving, but was full off of 2 baos. The only reason I'm would consider docking a star is because of the parking. Parking is atrocious, if you want to park, get in, and get out. There are 3-4 street parking spots available in front of the restaruant, but most of that parking is almost always taken up by their popular neighbor, RoyalTea. But I wouldn't let that stop me! My faves include the Kimchi fried chicken, cucumber, sriracha aioli and scallions. Glen Rhee with braised marinated Korean beef, fiji apple salsa & cliantro. WOW! I know I shouldn't be surprised after all of the 5 star reviews I read, but I was! I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was! First, we were so lucky to not have a line when we went, but the downside was there was so much to take in, since it was our first time in the restaurant. Since we were alone, we were able to ask a lot of questions to really get the full menu experience. In my mind, you can't go wrong with tots, so I was thrilled to see all of the different variations. We went with a simple truffle tot, but it was incredible. I would highly recommend it, but I know I will be venturing out to something different next time. For the 'main' meal, we got the Glen Rhee Bao, Kicken Chicken, Firecracker Shrimp, and Oh My Grouper. I'm not sure which was the best option, because I liked them all individually - but for different reasons. First, the chicken, even with sriracha, wasn't terribly spicy. So, don't let that hold you back. However, it is full of flavor and goodness. I also really enjoyed the Grouper - its a lighter alternative and the slaw really adds texture. She said "I mean, it's ready I don't know why you're standing over there. You can come get it." LIKE.. WHAT?!?! So totally thrown by that right away, I get you're busy but.. this place is packed and did you expect someone who ordered ahead to stand in the 10 person deep line stacked at the door placing new orders because that makes no sense, why would I assume this? So apparently that was the option or walk in front of all of those people which would be the most rude thing ever, just to say I've arrived for my order, pay attention to me.. I wouldn't do that either. Just not a good system, if there is a system here at all. So then I go over and I pay for my order, which I paid $8.46 for and I asked how I get the drink.. to which she then said 'I didn't know I ordered a combo'.. I said yeah, we talked about it.. she said I must've gotten it confused "but here you go" and gave me a cup - as if I didn't just pay for it?? The 2 bao combo is $7, I paid $8.46 which doesn't even make sense to me and yet I was treated like I was somehow trying to get a FREE drink or something? Honestly, the 3 bao combo with a drink is $9 !!! The fact that I was overcharged in the first place - real customer service would've been to say, a) I can refund the difference sorry about that, or b) I'm sorry, IF you can wait an extra couple of minutes I can give you a third bao since you pretty much paid for that just now (not that I had time for this but seriously, even just to offer these things to be decent and provide good customer service to people is all it takes). But zero initiative was taken to resolve the situation here, instead I just got overcharged and then made to feel like I was somehow stealing something I just overpaid for. You have got to be kidding me. I already spent way more time than should've been necessary, felt awkward and cramped for 15 minutes, had my one and first interaction here be rude and then this.. just saying - if the food wasn't so good I would've given less stars just based on the entire experience walking in the door start to finish. While still on my conquest for the perfect bao joint, I came across this super chill no frills spot. There's a parking lot around back but after being forewarned about possible towing by the tea shop right next door, I was weary about where exactly to park. Luckily, we found a spot right up front along the street. The best bang for your buck is grabbing the 2 or 3 bao combo with a drink. If your stomach can't hang, the individual cost is reasonable averaging around $3.50. Hands down the hogzilla was the star! It's a thick cut pork belly bao with flavors that are on point. Savory and sweet always wins! The pork was braised well and the fatty parts were melt in your mouth good but I wish the meat was a tad more tender. Also tried the porky totchos which I enjoyed since they browned the tots enough to get a nice crunch on the outside. Nothing is worst than soggy tater tots! This place is the real deal and an absolute must try for those visiting the Orlando area. We were glad to have stumbled across this place while we were killing time waiting to check into our AirBnB. For being a small place, they offer a pretty extensive list of menu items and flavors. I will say be careful for what you order though because some of the menu items may not be as tasty as some of the OG ones. We went with the classic Hogzilla and Glenn Rhee Bao's. The hogzilla was delicious and well balanced with the pickled veggies and peanuts. The pork belly was tender to the bite. The Glenn Rhee sounded awesome but was not as tasty as I had hoped with it being advertised as Beef Rib meat. It's more of a pulled beef which probably need to be cooked longer to make it tender. The surprised Bao was the WHAT The Fish bao. It was a little different from what I am used to but it was absolutely delicious and a MUST TRY. The fish was lightly fried and flaky. It paired well with the tartar sauce and slaw. We also got the truffle tots which were okay to be honest. The truffle flavor wasn't really there but the tots were fried perfectly. The menu is limited, but the flavor combinations offered were really good. We tried a few including Cuban (pork), Glen Rhee (short ribs) and the fish (can't remember the name.) All were good although not as spicy as the ingredients are made to sound. So if you like spicy, got for the sriracha bottle. Interesting they offer a dish with tater tots - seriously - so we went for it. They called it the Fakenit Taters. It is ok. The onion jam they put on top it is really an acquired taste. I personally like it but my family not much. So perhaps, if order, get the sauce on the side. If you don't like it, go for the bottle of ketchup. Deducting a star because the staff was not too friendly and unwilling to answer questions. Oh well, you can win. Prices are decent. We spend less than $10 per person. read more

After reading the reviews, I came to this place. It's pretty small, so if you come at a busy time be prepared to eat at the side bar. There's a few table seats, though probably only enough for two families. The food was good, I've had a lot of different Bao's at different places and this place fits in the above average range. I got the three combo deal and got beef, chicken, and pork. I liked how the chicken was crispy and not soggy like some other places. Looking back I should of went a bit exotic..maybe next time.
