Came to visit Nevada decided to give this place a try food is really good pricing a bit high but flavor makes up for it

The food was good was good for a buffet. Some items were not as temperature hot as we would have like. I had the sushi most of it was pretty good. But the seaweed salad was not as fresh an I really didn't care for it. The Godzilla roll was one of the high point of the sushi. My husband's had the Mongolian Grill which he liked very much. The desserts bar was great my son is not a fan of cherry jello but he enjoyed the jello. The one draw back was our drinks did go empty an were not refilled. But all an all we would come back for the kids an the price was not that bad for four people. read more

I had been to the King Buffet in Reno, and was hoping for the same atmosphere and food from this location. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this is just a smaller replica of the location Reno. I went on a Friday and enjoyed a selection of dishes like baked mussels, broiled scallops, Chinese style deep fried salty shrimp, and butter shrimp, as well as favorites like the sauteed button mushrooms in sauce, garlic string beans, fried rice and chow mein, as well as a selection of hot soups, a salad bar, and sushi station. Dinner for me and my preschooler was under 30 bucks for dinners and drinks - not bad for a Friday night seafood buffet. read more

One would think that covid would cause people to change habits, especially the one with Chinese buffets leaving old food out and then putting it on top of the new, hot, food that is served. Not King Buffet. They still employ the grumpy lady who stands by the buffet all day and circulates the old food instead of just throwing it out. We got a rave review of the place from a friend.... so we went for the sea food, primarily the crab legs..... However, when we got there there were no crab legs there but we drove 40 minutes from South Lake Tahoe for it and were starving, s we stayed . Sushi wasn't bad... and there were a couple of Chinese dishes that were tasty. like a Mongolian pork and the pot stickers. However, we went for sea food and Salmon was horribly OVERCOOKED, worse than tuna in a can...... White fish was like rubber , and there was no more sea food.... Hunan Garden in South Lake Tahoe is WAY BETTER buffet. So we ate, and on the way back the diarrhea kicked in... Thank God there were heated rest stops on the way home... otherwise both of us would had to go on the side of the road, I hope the owner reads the reviews and does not let the food sit there until it makes you sick..... Absolutely terrible. Avoid this place like the plague that it is. My lady and I were looking for a nice place to eat in Carson when we stumbled accross this place. Arriving at the buffet line, the food looked pretty gross, and it was, all the meat was low quality and very fatty with a lot of gristle. The flavor was horrible. I tried to muscle my way through it and suck it up but i had to stop myself as it was just to gross to stomache. I got up to go to the bathroom to wash my hands and when i walked in, there was piss water everywhere. Something made my stomache turn as the food already made me ill a few minutes prior, i puked it all up. I was not sick that day, nor do i have health issues. The manager would not let me not pay for this crap like most restaurants would do, threatened to call the police on me if i did not pay. Also threw a phone book at my girlfriend to look up the heath department. What a dick. Stay away from this place. There are much wiser decisions to take yourself and your family to dine in that city, your health will thank you. Not even worth a star. read more

Do not expect anything close to authentic Chinese food here. This place was actually decent the first few times I came. By decent I mean the green beans were crispy and the fried shrimp was good enough to dip into the very thick (and slightly questionable) sweet and sour sauce. The pseudo-Chinese fare is very close to something you would buy pre-packaged in the frozen food section at your local grocery store. Everything is quite mediocre in the sense that you would stuff your face if your stomach is growling, but if it is the slightest bit full, none of the options seem very appetizing. The one thing noticeably different than the first few times I came is the service. At the beginning (when the place first opened), the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Now, you walk in and you're lucky to be acknowledged with a water refill or for your dirty plates to be taken away. I had to flag down one of the servers after waiting for water for 15 minutes. This is especially troubling since the only two things the servers really need to worry about is refilling beverages and clearing plates away (given it is a buffet and guests get their own food). Luckily, the sugar-coated fried biscuits and the ironic fortune cookie one-liners never fail to put a smile on my face. read more

I've been here more than a dozen times, and I'm less and less inclined to return. I think it's gone downhill from a mediocre "guilty pleasure" to something worse. The cook seems to have changed, and the recipe for hot and sour soup now is sweetened with sugar, which destroys any authentic flavor. In fact, most of the sauced dishes overly rely on sweetness instead of more authentic flavors. I used to love the fried eggrolls, but they are invariably soggy, and I no longer seem to find new batches being put out to enjoy. The greenbeans are variable, and usually good, but sometimes too hard and dry (like they were picked too late.) It will be a rare occasion when I dine here instead of driving 5 miles north to Yang's Kitchen for some HOT fresh eggrolls, and made-to-order Chinese dishes that meet all expectations. read more

I went there a few years ago, and it was terrible... Cold rubbery food, (half the trays on the buffet were empty), no sushi, dirty buffet-line/dining room and bathroom, and the Mongolian grill area was just totally encrusted with gunk and grime... I can only imagine what the rest of the kitchen looked like. As soon as I left, I got sick and "un-ate" the food that I had managed to choke down, right there in the parking lot (which was cleaner than the bathroom). I was considering trying this restaurant again, (a good friend of mine loves this place for some reason, and she insists my past experience was a fluke), but judging by the recent reviews, I don't think I'll risk it... This buffet suck balls. What we called spaghetti is what they called chow mein. How could you guys used spaghetti pasta noodles to substitute chow mein noodles? Wth?? You guys are Chinese for goodness sake. Very disappointed in their selections. Not only that but food were out and they wouldn't bring out more. The worst thing about this place was the flies that were around the food. We only came here because my cousin dragged us here for lunch/dinner. I barely touch their food. Y'all should leave them out in opening so whoever can get chopsticks themselves. I'm not going to and can't walk to their area to get it myself. A cashier is right there. Been to one Chinese Buffet, been to them all. King buffet was typical, if slightly below average, in comparison to the dozens of Chinese Buffets I've been to. Honestly, I prefer the quality of food in a sit-down and order Chinese restaurant, but the variety of a buffet always seems to tempt me. We stopped here after hitting up Costco, TJ, PetCo, and World Market (LOVE THAT PLACE). It was early evening so dinner prices were expected. Walked in around 5:20 or so, not an impressive crowd for 5-ish. Then 5:30 hit. Holy shit. Every table and chair...occupied. Watch out for the hungry dinner crowd. So the food could have been better. Some things were hot and steaming, others were just warm. The garlicky green beans were good, but they could have been crispier. I enjoyed the noodles and barbecued chicken (on a skewer). Other than that, everything did kind of taste the same. The hot tea I ordered was piping hot and I had to wait for it to cool a few degrees. Not god-awful, but I've definitely had better. read more

Two out of five stars but hat doesn't mean it's all bad. It's just there is better out there. The food is average. Expect fried salty food with plenty of oil. Nothing is lean and crisp. The interior is kind of dingy and dirty but OK. Service is great with very polite staff and there's plenty of food. Nobody will leave hungry. If prices were a little lower then two stars could become three. My kids love the buffet style of serving so we come here every so often. Everyone leaves happy, including me. Don't bother even if you have a coupon.. There is plenty of food stations, and they will make you Mongolian beef for a tip. There is limited sushi. The staff does replenish the Buffett frequently. The floors could use a good clean and the Christmas decorations probably taken down. The whole place could use a clean for that matter. read more

Wow what can I say about this place! The food is loaded with MSG so that right there is a show stopper. The food is not to good. I guess it will fill you up but is tasteless. The only thing that was ok was the chicken on a stick. The desert bar is all processed and straight out of a can or a box. The people that work there are to busy on their phone and not doing there job. So don't waist your time on this joint unless you like this sort of thing! read more

As far as Buffet's go, King Buffet does well in first impressions. What I mean by this is, the moment walking in the restaurant is designed nicely with the waiters and waitresses near the entrance to greet you. Next to the cashier is the buffet line which has a decent variety of choices. The food ranges between the typical Chinese Buffet from seafood to chicken and beef. The owners did add a nice sushi section to the buffet. The sushi isn't top of the line but for the cost of the buffet there's not much to complain about. The Buffet trays are sometimes kept full, depends the time and day from my personal experience. A lot of the food that I have taken back to the table turns cold quickly which is unfortunate. Comparing this buffet to many others, the Chow Mein is usually stale and not fresh making me pass it up every time. Tips I can give the owners are to keep food fresh and make sure the food is hot enough to last a whole meal period. There is more then enough business to keep the food fresh constantly. I can't complain about the service as every employee I have came across has been polite and respectful with great service on refilling drinks. read more

We came on a Sunday afternoon, starving - so keep that in mind. I wasn't sure what to expect so I went in first to scope out the food and it looked plentiful and kinda tasty, enough to lure me in. For a Sunday it was pretty crowded. We got seated in the way back corner and through out the meal, service was... there. It wasn't anything special, but we never had dirty plates on our table for too long and our drinks were refilled, the servers were polite but distant. Food - wise, they were touting a newer and bigger sushi area. I enjoyed some of their rolls, they kept on coming, none of the rice looked dried out, fish wasn't the freshest but not bad, comparable to supermarket sushi. They had the regular Americanized Asian dishes like orange chicken, ribs, fried rice and hot and sour soup. I really enjoyed the chicken wings, the lo mein, and the green beans. I didn't really venture too much into the sea food section as I'm always wary about that but they were being replenished frequently so you didn't have to worry about the food just sitting there. Some of the dishes were a little luke warm which is a bit of a turn off when I enjoy annihilating all the foods I eat. They had a wok area which I didn't try and a small dessert area with some pastries and cakes and almond cookies. All I can say is, King Buffet isn't an amazing mind blowing experience but at the time, it certainly did it's job. I left full and not sick by the food and it was only $10 per person. There are plenty of other dining options in Carson City but if I was ever shopping in that area and craving some cheap Chinese fare, I'd visit King Buffet again. Just not soon, I hope. read more

I used to frequent King Buffet years ago during my 'off-season' winter stints in Lake Tahoe. It was at the time, a decent place to get your grub on... Not the best nor worst Chinese buffet I have visited. Upon my return to The Carson City-Lake Tahoe region, I made a beeline to King Buffet as soon as time afforded me to do so. To the best of my recollection, nothing here has changed much except for the price which seems to have increased by a buck or so. The food selection is decent and varied, none of the offerings I had were stale or off-putting. Good soft serve ice cream as well with {usually} crushed nut toppings available - these are usually hard to come by as little things mean a lot n such matters. Service has always been prompt and polite in my line of experiences there. Perhaps not the king of Chinese buffets but King Buffet is A-OK. read more

Went there for buffet the other night - believe it or not, everything tasted great. Lots of variety and the staff are very nice to you. We;re regulars there at least every other week. The only thing I can say is they really need to update their bathrooms and the hall area. My feet stick to the tile floors and the bathrooms smell of urine....but I really think that's the people who don't clean up behind themselves. But modern looking sinks, towel dispensers, etc. would do wonders. read more

This Carson City restaurant is actually in Dougas County, though barely over the border. It has a good selection of food, at an inexpensive price. They also have a regular menu as well as the buffet. What I ate was pretty good, except for some items on the dessert table (bland fruit, salty jello with bananas in it). The more exotic items included seaweed salad and octopus with bell peppers (both quite tasty). I enjoyed the spicy pork, the shrimp with corn, the slices of roasted chicken, the sliced potatoes, the Mongolian beef. The eggdrop soup was above average. The hot-and-sour soup I didn't like however. The rice was not in a cooker, rather it was set out in a steam-table tray. It was just a bit dry as a result. They also had fried rice with bits of meat in it. There's a Mongolian barbecue as part of the buffet. I didn't sample the BBQ. The salad table had two types of sushi, and various "krab" or shrimp with vegetables concoctions, and other items. The dinner selection adds on crab legs, salt-and-pepper shrimp, and mussels. There were a fair number of selections for vegetarians; my vegetarian dining companion was pleased with the variety. All-in-all though, as Chinese super-buffets go, this was above-average if not up to "big-cities-with-lots-of-Asians" standards. Carson-City-wise: I'd sure eat there again - in fact I have eaten there again... The same people have recently opened a sushi place - the Sushi King - adjacent - haven't tried it yet. Typical buffet with bland luke warm or dried out food. Tried it out three different times and came to the conclusion that there were definitely better restaurants serving Chinese food in the area. My recommendation, go to one of the other Chinese restaurants in the Carson City area. They will have better quality food and an more relaxing atmosphere. read more

I have been here a few different times, it seems to be getting better, but still not great. The first time I went was awful. The crab was so dry I couldn't eat it, and the rest of the food was bland and flavorless. Even simple foods like frys were not good. Half of the food was old, like it had been sitting out for hours. I have never eaten so little at a buffet before. A friend talked me into going back a few months later. It was better, some of the food was at least edible that time. They had a very small selection of food for a buffet. Nothing I ate there was anything special. They didn't have crab available that time. I was at least able to eat enough to get full that time though. I will never waste my money here again. read more

We went on 6/26/13. This place is not on the fancy side of things but it is clean (especially the bathrooms veeerryyy important stuff), don't get put off by the Christmas decor maybe is to makes us start on our good and naughty list...LOL Kidding aside, the waiter was pleasant and kept our drinks filled. The sea food was fine, I really liked the jalapeno shrimps...mmmm shrimp... the salad and dessert bars were good, had a nice variety to choose from, the shell dishes have a bit too much mayo for my liking, the Mongolian noodles needed a bit more life and my least favorite thing was the sushi bar it tasted store bought not freshly made (not impressed, kind of wacala) For a buffet it needed some variety but did fulfill our expectation of having a nice time eating to our hearts' content. read more

Most Seafood and sushi had a very fishy taste, I don't trust it .. ice cream and chocolate seemed very watered down.. there are far better places around , I just won't return. My first visit here was on a Saturday food was good for a buffet and fresh with no complaints. The second time I came was a weekday around 7:30 with 5 families in there having dinner. The food this time was old dried out and this wait staff kept turning it constantly to make it look juicy and fresh but it tasted days old, here's the kicker. Three children were at the desert bar area and I watch them filling their plate with ice cream and Jello one of them took a spoon took a bite of the jello and looked at his sister and threw the jello back and said no way I'm not eating that then I watched him pick up some cookies he had too many so we put those back when I went over to the staff and told them what was happening at the desert bar the two kids just laughed at me and said all there just kids this happens sometimes.... I never thought I would say this, but this is one of the best buffets I have ever been to. The name of the place may not be the best, but the sushi at the Japanese section was made to order. I've been there twice now and I have not had regrets eating so much afterwards. That says a lot when it comes to buffets. I have not tried the Chinese food section and I suggest if you want quality, go Japanese. read more
